Shownotes

As believers, we understand the critical importance of faith; we don't wait for God to show Himself before we believe.

And yet as business owners, we often forget this universal truth. We want to see evidence of success before we ever believe it's possible. We want miracles before showing faith and we want proof before we put anything on the line.

But true believers start with faith, then make plans and take action before they ever see any results.

First we believe, then we see the miracles.

Transcripts

Speaker:

my friends let's talk today a little about seeing miracles in

Speaker:

our lives, who need more miracles.

Speaker:

So we know from the scriptures that our God is a God of miracles.

Speaker:

It's one of the post.

Speaker:

Exciting parts about reading the scriptures for me is to see just how God

Speaker:

creates miraculous, amazing things in the lives of just normal, everyday humans.

Speaker:

Like you and me.

Speaker:

Who are trying to do his work.

Speaker:

He loves to show his children miracles, which is such a beautiful tender mercy.

Speaker:

And especially when we show lots of faith in God, does he come down and show us?

Speaker:

These miraculous feats in our lives.

Speaker:

interesting.

Speaker:

However, much as God loves miracles.

Speaker:

dislikes those who are not faithful asking for signs.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

us who are faithful.

Speaker:

Obey and show up the way God wants us to.

Speaker:

He is happy to show us miracles in our lives.

Speaker:

But when we are unfaithful and we just want proof that God is

Speaker:

there, he calls that sign seeking.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

And Christ actually condemns this many times in the scriptures.

Speaker:

And he says that the unfaithful asking for a sign is a bad thing, right.

Speaker:

That's not what we're supposed to be doing.

Speaker:

He taught us that faith is required before the signs and miracles will show up.

Speaker:

I think this is such a fascinating concept and really, really

Speaker:

applies to building a business.

Speaker:

so many challenges in our life that require faith, whether it's

Speaker:

raising a family or just waking up every day when you're struggling.

Speaker:

But I think that building a business is one of the biggest eight requires.

Speaker:

So.

Speaker:

Much faith.

Speaker:

Why?

Speaker:

being an entrepreneur require faith?

Speaker:

says in this awesome scripture in Hebrews 11, one.

Speaker:

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things, not seen.

Speaker:

until your business is fully formed and thriving, and even then I would argue.

Speaker:

It is something that is hoped for, but not yet seen.

Speaker:

We can show up day in, day out, putting in the hours and the time and the

Speaker:

effort necessary to build our business.

Speaker:

But until it becomes something that we have been hoping for, we can't see it yet.

Speaker:

It requires so much faith.

Speaker:

And that is something that too many entrepreneurs.

Speaker:

Don't fully embrace when they go into it, they think, well, I'm just

Speaker:

going to put in the time and effort and it's just going to show up.

Speaker:

it will, but it takes so much time and effort sometimes, sometimes more

Speaker:

than we would like it to be right.

Speaker:

A friend of mine.

Speaker:

And I are always joking about the overnight success

Speaker:

stories that take 10 years.

Speaker:

Everybody says, oh, look at that overnight success story.

Speaker:

But none of us see the back end of things.

Speaker:

None of us see that 10 years leading up to that quote unquote, overnight success.

Speaker:

hoping to build a business, but you're not yet seeing the fruits of your labors.

Speaker:

That is when faith is required the most.

Speaker:

another reason why building a business requires so much faith.

Speaker:

In addition to it being something that we really want badly.

Speaker:

And we really feel inspired to put out into the world to do good.

Speaker:

lot of the success of our business hinges on our ability to show up

Speaker:

over and over, even when things don't work out the way we expect.

Speaker:

So, if you have ever struggled with feelings of unworthiness or failure

Speaker:

or imposter syndrome, I E every last one of us, then these show up in

Speaker:

a business over and over and over, we believe most Christians believe

Speaker:

strongly that nothing is impossible.

Speaker:

If we partner with God, right, he can help us do anything.

Speaker:

then those feelings of unworthiness come up, right.

Speaker:

We think, wow, does he even care about this business?

Speaker:

Is this something that's even worth doing?

Speaker:

Especially if it takes time away from our family or even our church

Speaker:

obligations, we start, our feet starts to waiver and we start to think,

Speaker:

well, gosh, is this even worth it?

Speaker:

Is this worth my time and effort?

Speaker:

And I will say that.

Speaker:

Yes, it is.

Speaker:

If you get to a place in your life where it feels like your business is taking

Speaker:

more of your time and effort than it should, things are feeling out of balance.

Speaker:

Then God can help you rebalance things, recalibrate that.

Speaker:

meantime, just keep forging forward because it's true that

Speaker:

nothing is impossible with God.

Speaker:

And it's true that he can make.

Speaker:

the most pathetic of us successful with his help, but we have to

Speaker:

have that faith, both in him.

Speaker:

his ability to help poor us.

Speaker:

We know our shortcomings acutely.

Speaker:

We know them in and out.

Speaker:

And we know all the things that we struggle with.

Speaker:

And so it's very hard sometimes to convince ourselves that we

Speaker:

have what it takes, but with God, nothing is impossible.

Speaker:

I love that concept.

Speaker:

Now, why does God want our businesses to succeed?

Speaker:

Well, we've talked about this a little bit in former episodes.

Speaker:

First of all, he knows who we are.

Speaker:

knows our potential.

Speaker:

He loves us and he wants to see us succeed.

Speaker:

that, but he wants to see our goodness spread throughout the world.

Speaker:

I promise you that whatever you want to do in your business, there is someone

Speaker:

out there desperately needing it.

Speaker:

might be praying and just begging God to find this thing

Speaker:

in their life and you have it.

Speaker:

And of course he wants to connect you.

Speaker:

Of course, he wants you to find the customers and clients who

Speaker:

are begging for you, and he wants you both to succeed in your path.

Speaker:

I think God has a special plan for his faithful daughters.

Speaker:

He wants to send us out into the world to show those who are suffering in some way.

Speaker:

Maybe it's just that they don't have the right clothes that make

Speaker:

them feel great about themselves.

Speaker:

He wants to send you and your talents out to those who are suffering.

Speaker:

show them what life can be like with this, the benefit of your perfect

Speaker:

product or your perfect service.

Speaker:

And to benefit from sharing the light of Christ through you.

Speaker:

To if you guys think I am overstating the importance of a business,

Speaker:

that doesn't seem I am not.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

I always go back to the, the, example of, of selling earrings on that seat.

Speaker:

Cause I think that would be such a fun job to do selling handmade earrings.

Speaker:

Does that seem like a, like a.

Speaker:

Revolutionary type of business?

Speaker:

No, of course not.

Speaker:

show up in the internet inspires countless others, whether it's through the earrings

Speaker:

or just your personality, or just the style of decor you have on your website.

Speaker:

inspires more.

Speaker:

Goodness, whether that's through cute accessories or an amazing coaching

Speaker:

program or therapy or anything else.

Speaker:

It just breeds more goodness.

Speaker:

And that's what he wants of us.

Speaker:

if you are letting your own self doubt.

Speaker:

Or self-criticism get in the way of letting God do his work through you.

Speaker:

permission to stop that right now.

Speaker:

To get out of the Lord's way and just say, okay, I here I am ready

Speaker:

to do what you want me to do.

Speaker:

I don't think I'm worthy of it, but I'm, I'm ready to try.

Speaker:

I'm willing to try.

Speaker:

That's all he asks of us.

Speaker:

about entrepreneurs that start this path is that so many of us

Speaker:

wait for evidence that we can be successful entrepreneurs before

Speaker:

actually putting ourselves out there.

Speaker:

well, I just need to take this other course and if I certify there, or

Speaker:

if I qualify with this, or if I just have a little bit more information,

Speaker:

or able to, better in some way, then I'll go out and do the thing.

Speaker:

have some evidence that we could do it and then all in.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

W we waste our time or energy.

Speaker:

We just need to know that things are going to work out.

Speaker:

friends, unfortunately, this is not how God operates.

Speaker:

He wants us all in today.

Speaker:

He wants us to work on this thing that he's calling us to do right now.

Speaker:

And not wait for the proof, not wait for the evidence.

Speaker:

is the definition of faith.

Speaker:

believers, we, this already within our Christian faith, right?

Speaker:

We don't wait for God to show up in our lives before we believe in him.

Speaker:

We don't sit around saying, well, if I just saw God or an angel, then I believe.

Speaker:

of us don't anyway.

Speaker:

We know that that's not how belief works.

Speaker:

We have read and learned that faith.

Speaker:

Precedes the miracle.

Speaker:

choose to believe that God is there and that he's listening

Speaker:

and he's waiting to help us.

Speaker:

And then he does.

Speaker:

I'm sure you just like, I have countless examples of this being true.

Speaker:

thing applies in our business.

Speaker:

We cannot just sit around, waiting for miracles to appear before

Speaker:

we start becoming entrepreneurs.

Speaker:

Well, if somebody would just drop a business plan in my lap, if I

Speaker:

would just stumble across this thing, then I would get started.

Speaker:

That sounds silly.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

But too many of us just wait, I'm just waiting for

Speaker:

something for, for to be right.

Speaker:

Or the things to feel better, or, you know me to have more confidence.

Speaker:

We have to dive in first and I, you guys know I'm a fan of this.

Speaker:

We got to just move.

Speaker:

We got to just move forward and then things happen.

Speaker:

soon as we choose to believe in our business, I promise you that those

Speaker:

miracles will start showing up.

Speaker:

not look like angels knocking on your door with a business plan.

Speaker:

showing up to do your taxes.

Speaker:

Unfortunately, I would like some angels to help me with my

Speaker:

taxes, but you pay attention, I promise that you will see them.

Speaker:

something like finding the right mentor at the right time.

Speaker:

the money for your business license to showing up?

Speaker:

that you weren't expecting.

Speaker:

like the perfect babysitter.

Speaker:

Just asking you, Hey, do you need who needs some childcare?

Speaker:

it will look like a friend you, oh, do you know anyone who does

Speaker:

this thing that you want to do?

Speaker:

see them.

Speaker:

If you were paying attention.

Speaker:

if you start taking action now and make sure it's accompanied by

Speaker:

prayer, those miracles will come.

Speaker:

It me frankly way too long to start praying over my business.

Speaker:

at the beginning, it felt a little bit silly.

Speaker:

bit like something that God couldn't possibly be interested in.

Speaker:

I thought, well, this is just kind of my hobby.

Speaker:

This is just kind of this thing that I do for fun.

Speaker:

But if it's important to you, it's important to God.

Speaker:

I promise you that he is interested.

Speaker:

really strongly that when I pray over my business, I feel him

Speaker:

nudging me in one way or another kind of open up things make sense.

Speaker:

They kind of fall into place.

Speaker:

Not always.

Speaker:

It doesn't mean that every step is easy, show up.

Speaker:

I see this a lot is in inspiration coming to me, these ideas just start to flow.

Speaker:

In fact, I've started using the voice recorder on my phone nonstop because

Speaker:

the ideas tend to come when I'm driving.

Speaker:

It's not really safe to write down.

Speaker:

So I just turned on the voice recorder and start talking into it with all

Speaker:

these ideas that start flowing in.

Speaker:

And they are not my ideas.

Speaker:

You guys they're coming from somewhere else.

Speaker:

And I know that they're ideas that need to be shared through me to someone

Speaker:

who is praying for those answers.

Speaker:

happen when I am least expecting them.

Speaker:

When I am praying over this business.

Speaker:

So once you start doing the same start praying in your

Speaker:

business, acting in your business.

Speaker:

the thing for me.

Speaker:

And be sure to write down these ideas and these miracles that come to you.

Speaker:

I firmly believe that God wants to know that we are paying attention come

Speaker:

and we just think, oh, that's really neat, but that's a cool coincidence.

Speaker:

And we never.

Speaker:

down.

Speaker:

We never record it.

Speaker:

very easy to forget.

Speaker:

And inner times of doubt.

Speaker:

start feeling a little wishy-washy and think, oh, was this really a good choice?

Speaker:

Or is this really the right way to go?

Speaker:

know.

Speaker:

And we doubt those little miracles that we saw before, right.

Speaker:

Those little tender mercy.

Speaker:

So write them down back and read them again.

Speaker:

And again, the idea is I always write down because that's use

Speaker:

for the content in my business.

Speaker:

And when I see the miracles, I write those down as well.

Speaker:

So that in my low times I can go back and remind myself, Nope, God has been with me.

Speaker:

beginning, he is guiding me.

Speaker:

Keep going.

Speaker:

we show him gratitude.

Speaker:

By acknowledging the goodness that is coming to you.

Speaker:

And it will keep coming.

Speaker:

If we show that, continue to show that gratitude.

Speaker:

So along with this idea of faith, I want to talk to you for just a minute about

Speaker:

something called a spiritual creation.

Speaker:

principle of designing or creating something spiritually before ever

Speaker:

becomes a concrete, physical creation.

Speaker:

learned in Genesis that before God created the earth, he created it.

Speaker:

sphere spiritually.

Speaker:

He created it first.

Speaker:

and then physically.

Speaker:

So what does that look like for our business?

Speaker:

Well, it might look like brainstorming.

Speaker:

out ideas.

Speaker:

Maybe discussing with them with a friend.

Speaker:

like opening yourself up to things you may not have thought of before.

Speaker:

I think this is a really special.

Speaker:

gift that we're given the opportunity to try things out, even just in our mind.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

Even just with a friend before actually going out there

Speaker:

and creating it physically.

Speaker:

bring these plans and just say, this is what I've been thinking.

Speaker:

This is what I've been brainstorming.

Speaker:

think is this, is this the right way to go?

Speaker:

Is this going to bring me the most success?

Speaker:

The most joy?

Speaker:

Is this going to help the most people.

Speaker:

you spiritually prepare for your business, meaning just creating it in, in your

Speaker:

mind first and bringing it to God.

Speaker:

I promise you that he has input to give you, and he will help make

Speaker:

your ideas so much better than you can make them on your own.

Speaker:

isn't permission.

Speaker:

Let me just make this criticism permission to get stuck in

Speaker:

the planning phase forever.

Speaker:

This is so easy to do just while I'm going to just this out and then going to

Speaker:

ask my husband, then I'll pray about it.

Speaker:

And then I'll think about it some more and then maybe I'll

Speaker:

maybe I'll do something else.

Speaker:

have to actually take action.

Speaker:

You guys know.

Speaker:

my rallying cry, but you need to imagine first what your business is going to look

Speaker:

like, what it's going to feel like and how it will make the world a better place.

Speaker:

the Lord, ask him what he thinks and then dive in and start taking action.

Speaker:

You will not know the end from the beginning.

Speaker:

That's another really important thing to know.

Speaker:

You're probably only going to know a couple steps ahead of you.

Speaker:

idea of walking along a path in the dark.

Speaker:

think that God helps us.

Speaker:

Aluminate just a step or two in front of us.

Speaker:

And think this is for our own benefit.

Speaker:

You guys.

Speaker:

we could see the full path.

Speaker:

I think we would freak out.

Speaker:

would be so blown away by our potential.

Speaker:

So amazed at what God has in store for us, that we might be petrified.

Speaker:

To move any further.

Speaker:

Mercifully.

Speaker:

He shows us the first couple of steps and sometimes that's.

Speaker:

inducing.

Speaker:

We think we just want to see the whole picture.

Speaker:

I just want to know what I'm getting myself into.

Speaker:

It's better this way.

Speaker:

Trust me.

Speaker:

If I had seen the whole picture of a lot of the things I've done, I would

Speaker:

not have stepped into it early, has shown me the first couple of steps and

Speaker:

I thought, okay, I can take those steps.

Speaker:

my insecurity, even in my confusion, even in my fear, I can take a couple

Speaker:

of steps and lights up a couple more.

Speaker:

I think the more steps he lights up, the scarier it gets.

Speaker:

So just be grateful that we only know a couple of steps at a time.

Speaker:

friends let's dream big, let's act big.

Speaker:

And let's ask for those big things from God.

Speaker:

let your own insecurities and weaknesses get in the way.

Speaker:

Because if he can make great things of the normal people in

Speaker:

the scriptures that we read.

Speaker:

make great things of us.

Speaker:

today, but don't forget to bring that faith along with you

Speaker:

and wait and see the miracles.

Speaker:

Okay.
