And, uh, we're gonna have a little bit of fun. So hope you guys enjoy. I always have so much fun when I record with my kids, it's just the best thing ever.

for taking the time to tune [:

Emmett: did you mess up the intro for the first season or

Rob: did you mess up? You're kind of pushing me. Yeah. Yeah. It doesn't land well when you know it does.

Emmett: Yeah. We both messed up on the very first episode of this new season. Yeah.

Rob: Yeah. So anyhow, welcome back. It's a episode one of season seven. We're approaching 200 episodes of the autism dead podcast. Yeah. We've recorded more, but they're for the Ohio ones. I'm not really counting them and like trailers and trailers and stuff, but we're, we're, we're within like, I mean, we're, we're really close to 200 episodes.

just kind of kick the season [:

Uh, and we thought we would just kind of get everybody up to speed. Yeah. Cool. All right. So how was your Christmas Emmett? Uh, pretty good. What did you like about it? Uh,

Emmett: I, it was Christmas. I don't really. I don't really know.

Rob: What do you mean? Am I like putting you on the spot? Is that like I mean,

Emmett: sort of, yeah.

Oh,

Rob: yeah. Well, what did, what did you Let's, how about, whoa, let me ask you this. Because that was a very broad question. Yeah, why would you do that? What is one of your, what is one of the things that you look back on and it's like a fond memory from this past Christmas? Um

Emmett: When we went [:

Oh, that was fun.

Rob: That was fun. That was fun That was first time you got to play with us. Yeah, that was a lot of fun Yeah, cuz we got we spent Christmas Eve with our side of the family and then Christmas Day with Kelly's side of the family That was a lot of fun Yeah all the kids getting together you guys got to play and have fun and we got to play cards and Video games and had a lot of really good food.

Her mom cooked really good Uh, food for us and we had a really good time on Christmas Eve with my family, uh, at my sister's house. We had like a brunch and all, all of us got together. It was a lot of fun. Yeah. So let's just. Move on past that and don't drop the mic, please. Cause I, I wasn't trying, I know you were trying to, but I need you to just hold it still.

talk about new year's eve of:

Emmett: great, Porterhouse steak that I cooked and eaten. It was fantastic

Rob: and, um, And no sooner do I like pull into her driveway.

You got a call from me. I got a call from Emmett.

Emmett: You hang up because you assume I'm bothering you. No, I didn't hang up. Yeah, you sent me the voicemail. I didn't.

Rob: I had to call you two times. I was unloading stuff out of the car. I couldn't answer the phone. Oh, then did you think I did you think that I kicked you to voicemail?

Yeah. Oh, I didn't answer the call because I was carrying I had my arms full of stuff. I couldn't answer it. I tried like, you know, sometimes I can like use my like Yeah, watch with my nose. I wasn't able it was it just rejected the call. I couldn't answer it. Okay. Yeah I'm sorry if you thought that I was like You thought that I was just no it was fine

Um, but I thought you would [:

Rob: me whatever No, I couldn't I my hands were full.

I couldn't answer. Okay. Yeah But so when I called, I called you, I think, did I call you right back? No, I called you a second time. You, you called me a second time and I had unloaded everything. Yeah, you would answer. So I was able to answer you and Emmett's in tears and,

Emmett: uh, you didn't even get to say anything.

The first words that I just said were I dislocated and relocated my knee and I. Need help.

Rob: Yeah, and I'm sitting there kind of processing everything because I'm you know about 45 minutes away from yeah home and I was able to call my parents who are like three minutes down the road because I wasn't sure because Emmett was very worried about like ruining our New Year's Eve.

tly what was like, if he was [:

And it turns out that Emmett had, we suspected that he had dislocated his, uh, his knee and then it snapped back into place. It had swollen up really big, really quick. And so what we decided to do was, uh, just take him to Akron Children's Hospital emergency room. So my dad packed Emmett up. And drove to Akron Children's.

s out that He dislocated his [:

Not, it's

Emmett: not

Rob: bad. Cracked. No, yeah, it's not, it's not bad. It's,

Emmett: uh,

Rob: like. It's a crack. Yeah. But there was no separation

Emmett: or anything like that. No, I'm trying to explain the location. Oh. Um. Sort of like the little round ball parts that make a bone look like a bone and say like cartoons or something I broke the outward one on my femur

Rob: and Then you tore the tendon or the ligament that that holds your kneecap.

Uh, he's working, he's doing [:

But, no surgery. Right? So that's That's uh, that's a good thing and That's how we rung in the new year at yeah emergency room at Akron Children's Hospital because he dislocated his knee

Emmett: Now I'd called you like I think it was 10 20 minutes prior to just brag Because I was like mmm

Rob: this steak is oh, yeah the steak you're bragging about the steak.

I

Emmett: was like, this is so good I cooked it so well, and then the next call he gets was just me and Tears from just shock and I was like I did this

So grandpa got you to Akron [:

We'll see what physical therapy says. Um,

Emmett: it was I did it in the craziest

Rob: way. Well, yeah, you just stepped

Emmett: I took a step on the staircase and, um, my leg went like on an axis that it's not supposed to go on. Um, so it bent outwards, the knee bent inwards, bent back, and then I just thought to myself, well, this leg isn't working anymore.

the ground. Luckily it was. [:

Rob: and it was on a landing. Yeah, and not So you didn't fall down the second staircase. Yeah, because our staircase kind of wraps around but it was a much better experience as far as Having this managed than it was when we were down in Tennessee.

I mean Time wise time wise. Yeah, the recoveries seems to be like, yeah faster the x ray sucked But well, they had to move manipulate your leg. Yeah get the views But so that's how we rang in the new year. And so for the first probably a couple of months We're probably gonna be doing physical therapy and get him Strengthened and get use back of his of his knee because he's prone to overdoing it So we're just trying to kind of keep him Oh, I'm fine.

as he, as he moves forward. [:

Emmett: Well, how was your new year? How was your 10 minutes of freedom before you got

Rob: my phone call?

Oh, you're talking about New Year's? Yeah. Uh, well, I mean it was It was more than 10 minutes of freedom, I guess, but I mean, it was good. I wasn't there very long, but like for this holiday, for me, it was really, it was really special for me, you know, and you know, new year's eve was just going to be kind of a relaxing.

I don't know. I think we're going to binge. Like I think we're still working on handmaid's tale and uh, you know, and have some food or something, but very low key, but that didn't work out. No, it didn't. Well, obviously none of it happened. It didn't work out. But. You know, neither one of us were upset with you at all.

se than what it was, made it [:

And we were able to formulate a plan and move forward. So it, you know, I didn't get my New Year's Eve, I guess the way that I had planned it, but. It's okay, it happens. Yeah. The holiday overall was fantastic. Best holiday I can remember having in I can't tell you how long.

Emmett: Uh, this is I think two holidays I've ruined in, uh, under a year.

Two?

Rob: Yeah. What are you

Emmett: talking about two? Uh, well you can sort of consider it a holiday when we were in

That's not. It's it's honey. [:

It's just it just Didn't go as planned. That's all. But, like, we got to spend a lot of time together, um, and It was, it was a lot of fun, because we got to hang out with, uh, all the people that we love and care about. Yeah. Yeah? Yeah. Do you have any other questions for me? Not that I can think of. Okay. Um, what?

the parents that are kind of [:

We're gonna talk about Like going to the dentist Navigating that kind of stuff because that could be tricky Um, healthcare related stuff, school related stuff, um, and a bunch of things that I think are applicable to everyday life. So is there any, is there anything that you have on your, uh, bucket list of topics that you want to take on?

Emmett: Cause you want to To simplify time, anything you said. I'll just, I'm gonna cheat and copy your work and say that's what I want to talk about for the year because I don't

Rob: know. Alright. Well, that was fun. Yeah. Uh, well, yeah, so that's, that'll be it for today. We're just, we're just keeping it quick and just kind of breaking the ice a little bit.
