Shownotes

There's a lot happening in the world of home improvement, especially when it comes to the East Wing of the White House. In our latest chat, we dive into the somewhat controversial construction taking place there. Now, I won't bore you with the political stuff, but let’s just say, when big machinery rolls up to a historic site, eyebrows are raised. I mean, are we really just supposed to ignore the fact that they're tearing down a building that looks like it could survive a zombie apocalypse? The East Wing might not be the original White House, but come on, it was built like a fortress! What’s really going on under all that rubble? Is there a secret underground bunker being installed? I speculated that this whole operation might be a cover-up for something much bigger and way more exciting than just another reception hall. We’re talking about the potential for a high-tech bomb shelter or some other government shenanigans that are too juicy for the public eye. But hey, if the President needs to hide something from the world, I guess a little demolition is the way to go, right?

Takeaways:

  1. Eric G dives deep into the East Wing of the White House construction, hinting at some secretive and possibly absurd reasons behind it—because who doesn't love a good government conspiracy, right?
  2. The East Wing, built in the 1900s, is being torn down, making way for something potentially way more interesting, or at least less bunker-like, if you believe Eric's wild theories.
  3. Eric gives a heartfelt shoutout to the Money Pit show ending, while cheekily hinting that his own show is poised to take over; because, why not seize the opportunity amidst the chaos?
  4. He emphasizes the importance of being prepared for the holiday travel chaos, with a sarcastic nod to how everyone just loves driving through floods and rain—what a thrill!
  5. The upcoming holiday shows promise to be engaging, with Eric teasing a best-of episode that may or may not actually highlight the best of the best; stay tuned!
  6. In a cheeky tone, Eric suggests that the government might be hiding something big under the East Wing, and if that doesn't pique your curiosity, I don't know what will!

I'm Eric G. This is your source for everyday home improvement advice.

Speaker A:

Happy Midweek Update.

Speaker A:

This is our update that we put out each and every week in the middle of the week to give you an update of what's going on.

Speaker A:

Of course, the stuff that didn't fit into last week's show and the stuff that's not fitting into this weekend show.

Speaker A:

And I've got a lot to talk about today.

Speaker A:

We've been really busy over here at the around the House show and getting a lot done.

Speaker A:

We've got a bunch going on.

Speaker A:

First off, thank you to all you that have went over and checked out our holiday list.

Speaker A:

I'll be putting up another one here shortly.

Speaker A:

We've been just trying to put up with some quick ideas for you, our viewers, our listeners, depending on what format you catch us on here.

Speaker A:

I really enjoy trying to help you guys out if you're stumped over the holidays.

Speaker A:

What do I get, Mom?

Speaker A:

What do I get dad?

Speaker A:

What do I get my brother, my wife, whatever this is for you, see if we can help you get some stuff.

Speaker A:

And we've had a couple people go, hey, why is it always on Amazon?

Speaker A:

Because there are so many different stores across the country.

Speaker A:

We are just basically worldwide now.

Speaker A:

Of course, we've got radio stations in 32 plus states across the country and we are on pace now to be the largest home improvement show on the radio.

Speaker A:

It's really cool and how we're growing fast.

Speaker A:

And that is special thanks to the unfortunate things that happened over at the Money Pit with the passing of Tom and those guys over there.

Speaker A:

My heart has always gone out to them to be going through this difficult time, but they are ending that show on my birthday this year on December 27th.

Speaker A:

So that is the last show of their run of probably 25 plus years.

Speaker A:

So my hats go off to those guys and their show over there and I wish them all well and my thoughts and prayers go out to Tom's family.

Speaker A:

It's got to be tough shutting that stuff down and do all that.

Speaker A:

Something that has to be just an ongoing nightmare and I just Feel bad for those guys.

Speaker A:

But unfortunately, in radio, when somebody bows out, somebody bows in.

Speaker A:

And we've been very gifted to get a lot of those stations that have been going over to us.

Speaker A:

Not everyone, of course, but we've been growing rapidly this month on our station count across the country.

Speaker A:

And we're on pace right now to be number one.

Speaker A:

So hopefully that just keeps going and we're looking good with that.

Speaker A:

Yeah, there's a lot going on right now as far as the show, which is really exciting.

Speaker A:

And so we've got a lot of great stuff happening out there.

Speaker A:

Yeah, we've got a lot of different ways people catch us here, but you can always check out that list over@aroundthehouseonline.com.

Speaker A:

there's been this big controversy over the last few months of the east wing of the White House being torn down.

Speaker A:

And we're not gonna get into the politics of this, but being that my dad worked for the US Government and worked in some very secret things, one thing that I learned from my dad is they hide things right in front of our eyes.

Speaker A:

And that's one of the things that I've realized to maybe take a fresh look at what's going on with the east wing of the White House.

Speaker A:

If all of a sudden construction crews showed up there with excavators and hauling dirt and they were building something out there, there would be a big public outcry to see what the plans are.

Speaker A:

In today's media age, there would be Freedom of Information act stuff that they would have to.

Speaker A:

And anything secret at that location would be out there so quickly because of all that.

Speaker A:

So let's think about this from a realistic thing.

Speaker A:

in mind that east wing was a:

Speaker A:

It was not part of the original historic White House.

Speaker A:

And if you noticed one thing when they're tearing down that if you look at the pictures, that is not a normal building that was built.

Speaker A:

So let's dive into that for a minute.

Speaker A:

If you grab any of the pictures, and I'm talking nothing crazy here, cnn, Fox News, whatever.

Speaker A:

You're grabbing that from, whatever your media choice is.

Speaker A:

Take a look at the construction, look past the excavators and the jackhammers and see what they had to tear down.

Speaker A:

That thing was built like a bunker.

Speaker A:

That thing had I beams holding up the roof that look like what would be under an interstate overpass.

Speaker A:

So what does that tell you?

Speaker A:

That building was built hell for Stout.

Speaker A:

And there was obviously a little more going on there than what anyone anticipated.

Speaker A:

Yeah, there was a, of course a bomb shelter of some kind in there because they put them around in that.

Speaker A:

I get it.

Speaker A:

But here's what I'm thinking.

Speaker A:

If we were going to hide something pretty secret, maybe it's a new bomb shelter, maybe it's a new larger underground system in there.

Speaker A:

What's the way to do it?

Speaker A:

To have the President have publicly funded dollars coming from donations that have no government oversight to take it so the media can't find out what the White House is building secretly underneath this.

Speaker A:

And maybe they're just hiding some of that for our better good so that the people in China, Russia or anybody else that wants to wish harm upon us doesn't really get to understand and see what's going on underneath.

Speaker A:

Now if that was just a simple two story building, I'm not sure if we'd see a tower crane there for a two story building.

Speaker A:

If that was way deep in the ground.

Speaker A:

And they're going to be doing a lot of digging.

Speaker A:

It's going to be interesting to see what happens.

Speaker A:

I have a gut hunch that there's going to be some bigger ways to make sure that you can't see what's going on there.

Speaker A:

Because I got a feeling we're going to see some serious digging in that site.

Speaker A:

So they're either going to build a building across the top and then inside be digging out, or they're going to block off some places like the Washington Monument so you can't see out that top little glass window that way or something like that.

Speaker A:

You're going to see some of things to obscure what's really going on.

Speaker A:

That way they can build what they want to build under the COVID of it's privately funded and we'll see what happens.

Speaker A:

I'm just happy it's not public funds paying for it.

Speaker A:

But to be honest, if they were building something underneath there for the safety of our elected officials, I have no problem with our government dollars going into that.

Speaker A:

But that's kind of what I'm thinking.

Speaker A:

I'm watching this going, you know something, this is what they do when they have to hide something like that.

Speaker A:

You've got something for half the country to be mad about and they'll complain about the building and the ballroom, but really underneath there's probably a whole lot more going on and we probably have no idea and won't have an idea until after that thing gets torn down in another few hundred years and replaced with something else.

Speaker A:

So that's my take on that, guys, I think that's going to be an interesting one.

Speaker A:

We're not getting into conspiracy theories here, but this is how the US government tends to hide things.

Speaker A:

And I would not be shocked to see there's a little more going on in that construction than we'll ever know.

Speaker A:

If you don't live in the Pacific Northwest like we do up here.

Speaker A:

I tell you what, we have been getting hammered with rain, flooding.

Speaker A:

My friends to the north where I used to live in Seattle, north and south of that, they've been getting crushed.

Speaker A:

Our turn is this week.

Speaker A:

We got it hard but not like they did.

Speaker A:

The last little bit of the storm went north and that pushed them over the edge.

Speaker A:

And I think that's what's going to happen to us this week.

Speaker A:

We'll see what happens.

Speaker A:

We had lots of different stuff planned for this week.

Speaker A:

In the nights we're going to have everything from, you know, inches and inches.

Speaker A:

I got a gut hunch by between Tuesday and Friday this week we're going to get 4 to 6 inches of rain here in the Portland metro area where I am and we've got a mixture up in the mountains.

Speaker A:

So we have snow, we have rain, we have snow.

Speaker A:

Whenever we get a couple feet of snow and we get rain on top of that's in the 50 degrees.

Speaker A:

I was driving around today and it was 61 degrees in my truck here mid morning.

Speaker A:

Pretty crazy here on Tuesdays when I'm doing my stuff.

Speaker A:

But really it's going to be a little crazy out there.

Speaker A:

So if all of you that are in my area, be a little careful here.

Speaker A:

I think over the next couple days we're going to have flooding, power outages, that stuff with winds and stuff.

Speaker A:

So let's just.

Speaker A:

Or soil is so soaked right now that it's not going to take much to blow trees over.

Speaker A:

I think we could be working into another one of those major flooding events if everything goes wrong, which it usually does when you say it that way.

Speaker A:

But it's one of those things that if that storm comes a little bit north, which I have a gut hunch at night we could have a serious issue here like what we see in Washington going on.

Speaker A:

We could be next.

Speaker A:

So you guys be careful out there.

Speaker A:

We've got some of the most interesting weather in the country here with just 50s in the mountains where it should be three or four feet of snow and there's nothing.

Speaker A:

It's going to be interesting to see if we even get winter or do we get crushed later on this year.

Speaker A:

But to Me going to bed at night and almost having to turn the AC on because it's in the almost 70 degrees outside and it's over 70 in the house.

Speaker A:

Strange for December here where usually we're out there scraping ice.

Speaker A:

So it's going to be a little bit interesting there.

Speaker A:

So guys, be careful out there.

Speaker A:

It's the holiday season.

Speaker A:

Plan ahead.

Speaker A:

When you're traveling here over the holidays, just take your time, bring your stuff with you.

Speaker A:

So you've got a emergency kit in your car, those kind of things.

Speaker A:

Have some extra food, have some water, have some blankets.

Speaker A:

Just be prepared for the conditions out there and make sure that you've got the.

Speaker A:

You're driving a car that's going to be good for the weather you're driving in and that's going to be key right there.

Speaker A:

We're going to have a great show coming up this weekend.

Speaker A:

Another brand new show the following weekend on the 27th.

Speaker A:

That's my birthday.

Speaker A:

I'm taking that day off.

Speaker A:

We're going to be doing a best of show for you guys, for all the new people out there listening.

Speaker A:

We've got a whole bunch of new listeners out there.

Speaker A:

we're going to run a best of:

Speaker A:

And traditionally that's our lowest weekend of people tuning in.

Speaker A:

So we'll save it for the next one for a brand new one because we're going to be starting out with dozens, maybe over a hundred stations.

Speaker A:

Who knows, catching us on the radio on the first weekend of January.

Speaker A:

super fresh and have a great:

Speaker A:
