Dr. David Fiorella, Stony Brook Medicine

Dr. David Fiorella joins Gianna for Medical Monday during Stroke Awareness Month to discuss how new minimally invasive techniques are reducing deaths and disabilities caused by strokes across Long Island thanks, in part, to a mobile stroke unit program he established in 2019. Two mobile stroke units, or “stroke ambulances,” are located strategically throughout Long Island. They co-respond with emergency services to calls where a stroke victim might be found, which has drastically decreased the time in which such patients are seen by experts. As Dr. Fiorella notes, “every minute matters” when it comes to helping those suffering from a stroke.

Linda Nuszen and Jeff Allegue, Monday Meditation Underwritten by Monk Music Studios

To celebrate Mother’s Day Monday, Linda Nuszen and Jeff Allegue join Gianna to explore the heartbreaking reality that some mothers are outliving their children, in some cases because of addiction, ahead of the Seventh Annual “Look Up Rock On” event. Nuszen is one such mother herself. She organized and established the event as well as the support group “The Beading Hearts” to remember her son Adam, and to help others suffering from losing a loved one. Jennifer Cella & Jeff Allegue (formerly of Trans-Siberian Orchestra) will perform as the Cover Girl Band at LURO this Saturday 2-6 p.m. at Pine Grove Inn in Patchogue. Tickets and more information on the 7th Annual Look Up Rock On event can be found here.
