The WHO piece is about knowing your students deeply before you plan anything — not just names and grade levels, but where each student actually is in their language development across speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The WHAT piece is about knowing what language growth actually looks like at different proficiency levels so you can recognize progress even when it's slow and messy. The HOW piece is about building consistent routines that free up your mental energy so you can be fully present with your students. And the WHEN piece is about having a process for knowing what to do next — without guessing or pulling random worksheets off Google.
One of the most powerful messages in this episode: the worst thing you can do is try to work on all four pieces at once. Pick the one area where you have the most room to grow. Start there.
