If pro athlete Funk Roberts, who's training literally thousands of men every
Speaker:day and lives and breathes fitness and health, discovered that he has a bunch
Speaker:of hidden toxins quietly disrupting his hormones and his performance.
Speaker:What does that mean for the rest of us?
Speaker:I mean, could toxins literally be silently holding you back too?
Speaker:So let's find out.
Speaker:All right, Funk.
Speaker:I appreciate you for taking the time today, man.
Speaker:We were doing a little chat before this man, and, uh, I think you got
Speaker:a really cool story, like a little before and after all about toxins.
Speaker:I mean, you've been, you've been in the fitness and the
Speaker:pro athlete, the whole nine.
Speaker:So how you doing today?
Speaker:We'll just
Speaker:I'm, I'm great.
Speaker:Yeah, I'm great.
Speaker:I'm excited about this.
Speaker:Just, you know, a lot of, a lot of aha moments, a lot of things to change,
Speaker:a lot of, you know, understandings through some of the, the talks and stuff
Speaker:that, that I know about and that, you know, the tests that I went through.
Speaker:But yeah, I'm excited.
Speaker:I'm excited to share whatever knowledge I can and, you know,
Speaker:whatever tips and strategies as well.
Speaker:Well, like we invited you here because we just thought, well, for
Speaker:one, like love your personality.
Speaker:We've chatted before and you got to work with Dr. Savage a little bit too.
Speaker:You took his toxin test like, I don't know, a couple months ago I
Speaker:think, and you just were like, whoa.
Speaker:You know, like just blown away with what's in you, what's, what's
Speaker:lurking in your blood and plasma.
Speaker:So, dunno.
Speaker:I guess let's start there
Speaker:Sure.
Speaker:like what's on your mind and then we can dive deep into, uh, background
Speaker:and then kind of some aha moments.
Speaker:Yeah, so the toxin test was definitely an eyeopener.
Speaker:Um, you know, I was excited about it because I wanted to know, like, I already
Speaker:know that there's a lot of toxins in the air and in things that we use and, you
Speaker:know, things that we store our food in.
Speaker:So I kind of, you know.
Speaker:But as a fitness expert and you know, you, I'm, I'm one of those
Speaker:walk the walk talk the talk, but the only way to walk the walk is if you
Speaker:understand what the heck's going on.
Speaker:So when I got the test.
Speaker:You know, instead of us.
Speaker:'cause he said, you know, maybe we can uh, maybe we can do it
Speaker:offline and then talk about it.
Speaker:I'm like, no, no, no, no.
Speaker:I want you to do it online in front of everybody so that they can see
Speaker:what, you know, what, what that looks like and we can all learn together.
Speaker:'cause that's really what it's all about.
Speaker:Yeah, like what you're talking about now, because you have your own YouTube channel.
Speaker:Very successful.
Speaker:I follow along and do the workout.
Speaker:Love it.
Speaker:Love it.
Speaker:big shout out there.
Speaker:Go follow Funk
Speaker:Thank you.
Speaker:And of course there's more we'll talk about, but yeah.
Speaker:So you actually interviewed Dr. Savage, right?
Speaker:And talked about your toxin test results and he broke it down live with you.
Speaker:That's what it
Speaker:Yes, yes.
Speaker:Sorry.
Speaker:Yes.
Speaker:So I have the over 40 Alpha podcast.
Speaker:I also have a membership of like 15,000 men over 40, 50, 60, 70.
Speaker:So this was very important because one of the key elements to my program is not
Speaker:only helping men get in the shape, but also naturally increased testosterone
Speaker:and toxins is a massive disruptor of the endocrine system and testosterone.
Speaker:So me.
Speaker:I mean, I needed to see where I'm at, let alone and not, not like I had any low T
Speaker:but just understanding what toxins are affecting my health, my overall health.
Speaker:So when I had him on the podcast and he went through things, some of the,
Speaker:the key thing that we're talking about, the plastic, um, I all, I,
Speaker:you know, BPA plastic, that was like a moderate, uh, toxin I guess.
Speaker:'cause there's different levels.
Speaker:High, moderate, I guess low.
Speaker:That was one that was moderate.
Speaker:Uh, for me.
Speaker:I. Even though I know that I still need to get rid of all the plastic
Speaker:food containers downstairs, but we are getting our kitchen done.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:It's a, it's a plastics inside the food containers.
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:So, so, um, we are getting our kitchen done, so yes, I'm gonna move to glass, my
Speaker:wife and I, but that was another, another.
Speaker:Um, eye opener.
Speaker:But the cool thing was he actually talked about how to detox
Speaker:that, like how to fight that.
Speaker:So, uh, sauna was a big thing, right?
Speaker:So doing saunas.
Speaker:So that's one thing that I've added, um, more frequently, frequently is saunas.
Speaker:I, I'm, I'm, I'm doing this because I have a, uh, one of those sit down saunas.
Speaker:Um.
Speaker:Yeah, it's like the, so I work for the UFC, so whenever the fighters are, I dunno
Speaker:if you guys can see it, but it's over.
Speaker:It's in that corner there.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:So, yeah, so you just kind of just open it up.
Speaker:It's like a tent.
Speaker:You sit in it and then you have everything and it's great.
Speaker:It's a steam song and it's perfect because I can just open it up
Speaker:here, but the, you know, one of the ways to get rid of toxins.
Speaker:Is using that sauna along with all the other benefits that comes with it.
Speaker:So that was a, that was a behavioral change from that specific episode from
Speaker:him telling me that it's like, okay, so okay, let me just use that sauna
Speaker:instead of it sitting there all the time.
Speaker:Let's use it more and more.
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:Um, my, my, uh, heavy metals in the air, food, and water, so.
Speaker:When he said that, that was high for me.
Speaker:So I think that's called csum.
Speaker:That's, uh, that's heavy metals in the air, food and water.
Speaker:And so, you know, again, it's like, oh, where would that come from?
Speaker:You know, and, and because toxins are everywhere, it is very difficult
Speaker:to know exactly what one it was.
Speaker:But just understanding, like mold, for instance, is another big one.
Speaker:I had a, I had a high toxin that is associated with mold.
Speaker:Um, and not just mold in the, in the walls, but.
Speaker:I did have a, a water leak here, right?
Speaker:So there was, so our next door neighbor had this massive water leak and it came
Speaker:into our walls, it came into our carpets.
Speaker:And this happened a few years back.
Speaker:But, you know, like the, I guess the companies come in and they do
Speaker:what they need to do, but maybe that's where a lot of the mold is.
Speaker:'cause I don't eat peanuts, I don't eat cotton seed, I
Speaker:don't eat, uh, a lot of dairy.
Speaker:So, you know, it's, it's, it's kind of like an eye-opener to.
Speaker:Okay, this, this specific toxin, which is a high toxin for liver
Speaker:cancer, where is that coming from?
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:Where is that coming from?
Speaker:So I just,
Speaker:is something like
Speaker:oh dude.
Speaker:you know, like I have high mold as well, like
Speaker:Right,
Speaker:back of mind and I live in San Diego.
Speaker:I'm like, it's not wet here.
Speaker:right.
Speaker:a lot of people are like, well, air conditioning, you
Speaker:know, and things like that.
Speaker:So circulated air could
Speaker:Something.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:And so like it was just.
Speaker:There's tons.
Speaker:I mean, I, there's so many things that we went over.
Speaker:Um, but, but the point was, you know, just taking a look at the, the toxins that were
Speaker:high for me and looking at, okay, what can I start to do in order to alleviate that?
Speaker:'cause obviously, you're not gonna alleviate everything all at once,
Speaker:but if you understand, okay, for this pesticide that I have, that's
Speaker:high, that's gonna affect my nervous system, my memory, and my dementia.
Speaker:What are some of the things that I can.
Speaker:Do.
Speaker:Oh, sulfur containing foods.
Speaker:Okay, well, I didn't know that there was a ton of foods that contained sulfur.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:So you just start to become more aware, right.
Speaker:With, with more information, you become more aware.
Speaker:And when you're, when you're more aware, you start to make better decisions
Speaker:instead of like pushing away from it.
Speaker:You're like, okay, I know that if I eat this or if I do this
Speaker:specific thing, this is what's gonna happen because now I understand.
Speaker:Now I, I actually understand.
Speaker:Instead of somebody like I. Don't do this, don't do this.
Speaker:There's a difference between someone just telling you, don't do this,
Speaker:don't do this, don't do this.
Speaker:And then someone telling you, oh, the reason why you shouldn't
Speaker:do this is because of this and this is what it's affecting.
Speaker:And maybe if you did a couple of these things, you could start to, you know,
Speaker:alleviate or, or, or get results or whatever that is that you're looking at.
Speaker:Um, and so, yeah, that's what this was for me.
Speaker:that's, yeah, and that's what Dr. Savage talks about a lot.
Speaker:It's like, know your own data.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:that's why, yeah, like I, when I, similar story, like when I saw my toxin
Speaker:test, you know, after getting it back and then doing the whole thing where
Speaker:he kind of breaks it down for you and, and tells you what it all means, which,
Speaker:uh, you know, is fascinating in itself.
Speaker:I didn't like, just didn't even realize what kind of toxins were even out there.
Speaker:Like, to the degree and just keeps increasing of
Speaker:Yeah, I know.
Speaker:But now it's like, I got my data, you know, like I know exactly what's in me.
Speaker:So as you said, it's, it's not blanket statement.
Speaker:Statements anymore.
Speaker:It's
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:a podcast and being like, oh, I'm gonna try it all.
Speaker:It's like, well, maybe there's a handful of things we're like, that really is me.
Speaker:I need to target that or change that in my life.
Speaker:yeah.
Speaker:Because sometimes when you get all of this information, it
Speaker:can be overwhelming, right?
Speaker:There's a lot of information.
Speaker:There was like, and so the nice thing about it was like, okay, listen, there
Speaker:are some, some high levels, um, but.
Speaker:In general, your, your toxin test was actually not bad.
Speaker:It was pretty good.
Speaker:But there's definitely some high levels you want to look into and
Speaker:here are the two or three things that you want to start with.
Speaker:Which was really, which really good for me.
Speaker:phenols was another one, which is a estrogenic.
Speaker:That's a xenoestrogen, right?
Speaker:So that's another, that's a big thing like that, that affects testosterone.
Speaker:Um, and that was high.
Speaker:For some reason.
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:So I, I didn't know that had to do with charcoal and clay and glu glutathione.
Speaker:So glutathione probably.
Speaker:And, and so again, these are just some of the things that, okay.
Speaker:I gotta look a little bit more into the consumer products because that's
Speaker:the phenol portion of it, right?
Speaker:So phenols, which are like, uh, our shampoos and our body washes and
Speaker:all of those things when, you know, you get the general body wash or the
Speaker:general shampoo, or the general soap.
Speaker:Th those have phenols and those phenols have, uh,
Speaker:xenoestrogens, which is estrogenic.
Speaker:And the more estrogenic your body is, the less testosterone you're gonna have.
Speaker:The man boobs the belly fat, and just those hormones and,
Speaker:and un unbalanced hormones.
Speaker:So that one was big for me because.
Speaker:I know that a hundred percent, that that's what that came from
Speaker:because I use just regular body wash, you know, all of that stuff.
Speaker:But now I'm moving into more organic soaps and, you know, it's just
Speaker:being more, uh, in, uh, uh, just in, what's the word I'm looking from?
Speaker:Just being more focused on, you know, those, those, those type of things
Speaker:as opposed to just like, oh, no, I'm gonna save money if I, if I, uh.
Speaker:You know, if I use this, but do I want to save money or do
Speaker:I wanna save my testosterone?
Speaker:Like, you know what I mean?
Speaker:Which is downstream of like so many other things.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:It's easy to, I mean, that's, let's, let's be honest, it's a life we live in.
Speaker:You know, it's like everything's convenience or
Speaker:it's cheaper, and those are.
Speaker:Unfortunately, most of the times, a lot of the times have
Speaker:all this kind of stuff in 'em.
Speaker:And literally just last night I was using chat GPT and using the
Speaker:camera feature, you know, taking a picture of the different lotions and
Speaker:bottles and shampoos in my house.
Speaker:Luckily, my wife's pretty ding on it,
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:like there were a couple I noticed and it, it will say, you know, if you, if you
Speaker:say, Hey, what are the toxins in here?
Speaker:Or like, give it.
Speaker:Just what you're looking for, it will do the research.
Speaker:So it's kinda like a little hack for anyone listening, watching
Speaker:to start using the tech that you literally have for free in your hands
Speaker:I, I used it yesterday with, uh, my wife has shingles right now, so I
Speaker:used that yesterday 'cause she's at a point where the itching's starting
Speaker:and we have a, we have a, I know we're going on a tangent here, but this is
Speaker:using the, this is using the tech.
Speaker:But anyways, opened up the first aid, took a picture of and said What
Speaker:things in here are good for the itchy?
Speaker:Scalp for shingles, and Chad just came out with things, you know,
Speaker:do this, maybe try this, you know, do not do this, do not do this.
Speaker:It's like, it, it's, it was amazing that if you tried to Google it, there's
Speaker:no way you're gonna get that answer.
Speaker:Whereas, you know, taking that picture and, and again, it's just like you said,
Speaker:you know, going to your fridge, going to the bathroom, and just taking that
Speaker:picture and saying, okay, what are the things that I need to, to, to get rid of?
Speaker:And what are, and what should I replace them with, right?
Speaker:So that you have both, right?
Speaker:What, what should I go on Amazon to order today to get rid of this, right?
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:this evening,
Speaker:What, what can I do?
Speaker:But, and it almost makes, I mean.
Speaker:For guys.
Speaker:I, I, you know, for us for, I mean, I'm sure for everybody, but that's fun for me.
Speaker:Like, it's like, all right, I'm gonna, you know, go in there and I'm
Speaker:gonna, I'm gonna surprise the wife.
Speaker:I'm gonna take a picture and I'm gonna get rid of all the bad stuff
Speaker:and I'm gonna get the good stuff.
Speaker:I'm gonna order it.
Speaker:I'm gonna say, Hey, guess what I did?
Speaker:I did.
Speaker:You know what I mean?
Speaker:So, and, and it just Right.
Speaker:alone Yeah, you're taking charge.
Speaker:A hundred percent of, of your health.
Speaker:So, um.
Speaker:Yeah, making sure that you use the tech you have, but understanding
Speaker:what's around you, what you're eating, uh, and what things have
Speaker:toxins and what they do to the body.
Speaker:Yeah, man.
Speaker:And.
Speaker:I, I, I want to go back to the t, you know, like
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:since you're working with men over 40, like, you got,
Speaker:you got this awesome program.
Speaker:I already said, you know, I follow you and
Speaker:Thank you.
Speaker:you put out some just epic stuff.
Speaker:So thank you
Speaker:Thank you.
Speaker:because it's a democra graphic that needs it.
Speaker:um, so toxins and
Speaker:Testosterone,
Speaker:I'm just like, I want you to just kind of give us what you know, you
Speaker:know, what you knew before, after, maybe, maybe you short up, I know you
Speaker:already dropped some knowledge here,
Speaker:but I'm just thinking
Speaker:it plays into peak
Speaker:performance.
Speaker:what you're focused on as we get older, you know, just,
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:It's, it's, it's, it's the big one that people, it's the last
Speaker:thing, it's the big one that people miss, but I think it's the.
Speaker:It's, it's one of those things that when you understand that,
Speaker:okay, so here's the thing.
Speaker:Um, testosterone to naturally increase testosterone.
Speaker:There's a, there's a few pillars that you need, right?
Speaker:You need nutrition, you need, uh, specific types of workouts, right?
Speaker:Different types of workouts.
Speaker:Uh, you need, the sleep is huge, so six to nine hour sleep, but
Speaker:quality sleep, you know, two to three hours of restorative sleep.
Speaker:Um, you need, uh, recovery.
Speaker:So recovery, both physical recovery so you're not getting injured,
Speaker:but also the mental recovery.
Speaker:So.
Speaker:Cortisol stress that causes your, I mean, it causes a ton of chronic health issues,
Speaker:but also just T levels to decrease.
Speaker:So you want to be able to manage that chronic stress that
Speaker:most 40, 56-year-old men have.
Speaker:But a lot of, so once you have all of those things in place, maybe some
Speaker:supplementation, making sure you're getting vitamin D three and magnesium
Speaker:and zinc, and all of those things.
Speaker:Now I have plenty of guys in my program who are hitting.
Speaker:Every one of those pillars.
Speaker:Consistency, right?
Speaker:Uh, and we have something called the alpha Zone inside of the program,
Speaker:because I can have a, a workout program and a coaching program and a community.
Speaker:But if there's no, like KP, I like, okay, Funk, how much, what
Speaker:is the testosterone number that I need to, to strive for, right?
Speaker:Because testosterone, just that number.
Speaker:On its own, it's like, like it's between 200 and and 900 is normal like that.
Speaker:Well, that makes no sense.
Speaker:That makes no sense.
Speaker:How can something 700 points be normal?
Speaker:Like when people have two, you know, when people have testosterone levels
Speaker:at 200, and I'm speaking nanograms per deciliter, that's total testosterone.
Speaker:When it's 200, 300, 100, 400, 500 ish, that's low, right?
Speaker:That's very 400 low.
Speaker:Under is very, very low.
Speaker:Are you seeing most
Speaker:Most people.
Speaker:in your program, assuming that you know their data, like are you
Speaker:seeing more on the low side or,
Speaker:A hundred percent.
Speaker:It's the, every single person that comes to the program has low T. Every
Speaker:single person that comes to my program pretty much has low T because they're
Speaker:at the point when people join my program, they're at their lowest point.
Speaker:So whether it's belly fat, chronic health issues, brought 'em in, whatever it is,
Speaker:they're, when you're taking prescription drugs, that kills your T level.
Speaker:So they are, they're at their lowest point.
Speaker:And so now.
Speaker:First getting their T levels checked, because most men don't do that.
Speaker:And that's because most doctors won't do that.
Speaker:So that's a whole other thing.
Speaker:But when you know your numbers, then it's like, okay, well if I do
Speaker:all of these things, why are what?
Speaker:What's that North star?
Speaker:What should I be striving for?
Speaker:When do I stop?
Speaker:Well, first you never stop, but it's 600.
Speaker:So in my program we have what's called the alpha zone.
Speaker:You have 600 nanograms per deciliter of your testan levels are higher.
Speaker:And your body fat percentage is 15% or lower because that's the optimal,
Speaker:uh, uh, number that testosterone production happens, right?
Speaker:So now we know that's the number we get to, but there's guys in the program
Speaker:who, like I said, nutrition, following the nutrition, following the workouts,
Speaker:they've got everything in place and still have a little bit low testosterone.
Speaker:Maybe it's that.
Speaker:500, maybe it's at five 50, or they, they want to get to that 600 plus,
Speaker:and then we start asking questions.
Speaker:Okay, well you've got all of this in place.
Speaker:What about toxins?
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:And that's when that, you know, is there BPA that you're using, you
Speaker:know, uh, uh, uh, the, your consumer products like we talked about, right?
Speaker:Do you, do you work in a, do you work in a, a place where there's toxins, right?
Speaker:Maybe you work in a, in a factory or, you know what I mean?
Speaker:And then, or maybe you dry trucks or you know, where there's all that
Speaker:pollution and all of those things affect your testosterone, your hormones.
Speaker:And so like, then, then when that starts to happen, oh, well my, maybe
Speaker:my wife, uh, smokes all the time.
Speaker:Okay, well that's gonna.
Speaker:That's toxin, right?
Speaker:Like, oh yeah, I live, you know, I work in a factory toxin, so I drive a bus.
Speaker:Toxins.
Speaker:Like, there's all of these things that you're like, okay, because that can be
Speaker:frustrating when you know that you've maybe what started at a hundred nanograms
Speaker:for deciliter, then you went up to 300, then you went up to 500 and you're,
Speaker:you're there and you're doing everything right because you, because it takes
Speaker:time to implement everything, right?
Speaker:So now you're there and you just, you just it, you don't know you
Speaker:got your sleep and everything.
Speaker:And that's generally the last.
Speaker:Piece of the puzzle, but that's a tough one.
Speaker:'cause toxins are everywhere.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:So when you start to ask those questions, okay, where do you work?
Speaker:Let's talk that through.
Speaker:Right?
Speaker:What, um, you know, where, just, just asking those questions.
Speaker:What, you know, you're always using plastics when Yeah.
Speaker:Lifestyle.
Speaker:And then, then, okay, let me try, let me, you know, try that.
Speaker:Let me, you know, remove this, let, let, let me add this.
Speaker:And then, you know, in the end, that could be the one thing
Speaker:that pushes 'em over, right?
Speaker:Um, so that's, that's, that's where the toxins piece comes in.
Speaker:Um.
Speaker:Because it's everywhere.
Speaker:It's tough.
Speaker:It's tough, man.
Speaker:Uh,
Speaker:tough.
Speaker:It's tough to get.
Speaker:escape it.
Speaker:And like, you just got to realize, okay, well that's
Speaker:That's the world, right?
Speaker:But yeah, it's up to us to try to control, I guess, the intake of it,
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:Like, um, like filtered
Speaker:Water.
Speaker:Water, yes.
Speaker:foods as best you can.
Speaker:when we know that this is, this could be the, the tipping point or if we're,
Speaker:we continuously are getting sick.
Speaker:Even though our whole, we have everything healthy.
Speaker:Why am I still getting sick?
Speaker:Why am I still getting, you know this?
Speaker:Or you know, what's going on?
Speaker:Then you start to look at, okay, am I, like for me, I used to drink
Speaker:outta water bottles all time.
Speaker:Literally like we would have cases it on my coaching calls.
Speaker:On my coaching calls, I'd have the water bottle.
Speaker:Water bottle, and then, you know, the toxins started to become.
Speaker:Wait, I start to educate myself on that and it's like, okay, well now we get the
Speaker:water filter and then I tell 'em, all the guys gotta get your water filter,
Speaker:you know, the, the, the water bottles, you know, the, the, the, exactly right.
Speaker:So it's just you start making small, um, you know, changes and.
Speaker:You just continuously do that.
Speaker:You continue to make those small changes.
Speaker:It's just not everything at once.
Speaker:Just small things.
Speaker:Okay?
Speaker:Make that one change.
Speaker:Get used to it.
Speaker:Make it a habit.
Speaker:Move on to the next thing.
Speaker:Instead of just trying to like, okay, I did this, I did this.
Speaker:Let's just hold on a second.
Speaker:Just let's start with the water bottles.
Speaker:Okay, let's get rid.
Speaker:That's gonna be tough to get rid of just to begin with because all
Speaker:you do is drink out a water bottle.
Speaker:So let's.
Speaker:Start, give us a month.
Speaker:Okay?
Speaker:That's what I usually say to people.
Speaker:I usually tell people, listen, when you change something, we're
Speaker:gonna do it for a month, right?
Speaker:Because some people want quick change to deny.
Speaker:You're not gonna get quick change.
Speaker:Second thing you want to build, uh, a new behavior, a new habit.
Speaker:So you have to break that old habit and start building a new one.
Speaker:And that takes time.
Speaker:And it also gives you a little bit of grace, right?
Speaker:Like, I don't have to get this right off the bat.
Speaker:I don't have to be perfect.
Speaker:I can just, okay.
Speaker:I can ease my way in.
Speaker:Yes.
Speaker:I'm gonna probably have a bottle of water.
Speaker:Oh yeah.
Speaker:I'm not supposed to have this water.
Speaker:Okay.
Speaker:I'm not gonna beat myself up.
Speaker:I still got 27 days left.
Speaker:I, you know, I, so it's like, it's like, it's like that's.
Speaker:A great way to implement new behaviors, new things get used to that.
Speaker:Make it a habit where you don't even think about it anymore.
Speaker:Okay, now what's the next thing I can stack?
Speaker:Right?
Speaker:And that,
Speaker:to how like, I'm just imagining 'cause Yeah, it's, I've never thought of it this
Speaker:way, but it's behavior change with toxins, but it's just like diet or dieting.
Speaker:You know, if someone's trying to lose weight or
Speaker:hmm.
Speaker:you know, focus on testosterone, whatever the goal is really, like,
Speaker:there's always like, okay, what are the contributing factors?
Speaker:What can I control?
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:Totally.
Speaker:it has to be in layers.
Speaker:Like you can't just assume you're gonna be able gangbusters
Speaker:day one and stick with it.
Speaker:'cause we're human,
Speaker:Yeah, for sure.
Speaker:And that's, and that's generally what happens with workout programs.
Speaker:So, you know, generally with workout programs, people get excited.
Speaker:First thing they do is they get to the workouts and they
Speaker:diet or the nutrition, right?
Speaker:And they just go.
Speaker:Ham on it, right?
Speaker:Okay, I gotta work out more, I gotta do more, I gotta do more.
Speaker:But that's not sustainable and you're not really taking in the behavior, you
Speaker:know, and the mindset actually you gotta, you gotta get the right mindset as well.
Speaker:But yeah, you're right about about stacking things because the way I
Speaker:have my program, because the workouts are follow along, they don't really
Speaker:have to worry about the workouts.
Speaker:They just have to show up and click that button and then they're
Speaker:working out with me, right?
Speaker:So I try to take that away.
Speaker:In regards to the habit, you know what I mean?
Speaker:Like I try to give them the ability to just say, okay, all I have to do
Speaker:is click play and I'm working out with the re here and we're good.
Speaker:The nutrition takes a little bit more time.
Speaker:So when someone comes in, I give them a 90 day kind of period.
Speaker:I say, okay, stick in here for 90 days.
Speaker:That's when you're gonna see the biggest difference.
Speaker:'cause again, most people want that immediate, oh, I've been here for 30 days.
Speaker:How come I haven't seen a massive difference?
Speaker:They do see a difference.
Speaker:They do feel a difference.
Speaker:But that 90 days, and by the time they get to 90 days.
Speaker:They've, they know the nutrition, they know the, you know, the workouts.
Speaker:Obviously they've implemented like yoga and mobility, because
Speaker:that's foreign to most men over 40.
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:And it's difficult.
Speaker:in
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:It's, and it's difficult.
Speaker:So that's something new.
Speaker:Um, and just everything else that goes along the community, all of that stuff.
Speaker:So 90 days for a workout program, uh, is, is, is realistic.
Speaker:Like you have to commit to that.
Speaker:Uh, and, and same thing with anything, just committing to.
Speaker:One specific part of whatever you want to change and, uh, taking the
Speaker:time to, to, to get that new behavior.
Speaker:Uh, like you said, it's a commitment, so it's
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:it's, and that's how I see toxins and luckily, like I mentioned, my wife has
Speaker:been great with this for a long time, and
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:now working closer with Dr. Savage and, and getting my own toxin
Speaker:test and just my eyes are open and that's like suggest everyone to
Speaker:just do the same in your own way.
Speaker:It's like then you start to have more of that commitment, at least to yourself.
Speaker:Whatever the self-worth side of things, like however you want
Speaker:to approach it, but it's like,
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:okay, I can't really ignore it now.
Speaker:Yeah, because you know.
Speaker:how do I commit to me, you know, and, do it in a sustainable way.
Speaker:Like I got a calendar here with three months, actually.
Speaker:Ironically, I'm like, there you go.
Speaker:90 days just like, check it off, you know, blah boom.
Speaker:Amazon.
Speaker:It's an easy buy.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:And I like that you, you, your wife, like the two of you are committed.
Speaker:Because that's the same with Angela and I we're like committed to, you know, like we
Speaker:have to catch each other sometimes, right?
Speaker:Like, Hey man, we said that we were gonna do this.
Speaker:Let's, okay, you're right, let's go.
Speaker:Right?
Speaker:So that, so it is, it is much easier when you have that, that you know that, that.
Speaker:Buddy or, or wife or whatever.
Speaker:yeah,
Speaker:which is why it's also good to get into a community or you know, a place where
Speaker:other people are tackling the same thing.
Speaker:Um, because that helps too.
Speaker:You know, when, when everyone's on the same journey, that that
Speaker:collective identity is much, much better, keeps you going, keeps you
Speaker:accountable, and everyone, you know, everyone understands each other.
Speaker:Like if we're all trying to get rid of, you know, plastics.
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:And we're all in a place where we're all got, you know, high plastic toxin.
Speaker:We all know, okay guys, let's, okay, what are we doing?
Speaker:Okay, we gotta do our infrared, we gotta do our sauna three times a week.
Speaker:Okay?
Speaker:That's the behavior to help get rid of this.
Speaker:Hey Jimmy, I saw that you, uh, you posted a picture with, uh, you know, plastic.
Speaker:Let's get rid of that plastic.
Speaker:You know what I mean?
Speaker:So we're all,
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:you're right.
Speaker:Funk.
Speaker:You're right.
Speaker:I gotta get rid of a blasting.
Speaker:Yeah, exactly.
Speaker:Oh, where do I get this?
Speaker:Where?
Speaker:So when you're all on that same journey, it makes it much easy.
Speaker:Mm-hmm.
Speaker:Hmm.
Speaker:and, and even just, you just feel like you're a part of something where we're
Speaker:all trying to get healthy, but we all understand the, the, the battle, right.
Speaker:So we're doing it together.
Speaker:we're all in it,
Speaker:Yeah, totally.
Speaker:escaping the toxins.
Speaker:So, and like, yeah, and, and whatever mo mode you can do, you know, like
Speaker:obviously we're talking about, sometimes we talk about TPE on
Speaker:here with some of the docs as well.
Speaker:yeah.
Speaker:That's a whole different program in itself.
Speaker:Like go check it out.
Speaker:And there's cool episodes here, but there's a lot of
Speaker:stuff you could do in-house,
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:yourself, lifestyle changes that are
Speaker:Mm
Speaker:very important.
Speaker:And, um, I was thinking like, just to kind of wrap it up here, Funk,
Speaker:sure.
Speaker:wins for like, I. Uh, diet or supplementation?
Speaker:Like anything that you think that we're, you know, like what, what
Speaker:do you kind of recommend folks now with this whole thought of, you
Speaker:know, hey, let's eliminate toxins.
Speaker:So it's like, I'm thinking of like protein.
Speaker:If there's
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:anything on the diet side, you think would be good here.
Speaker:I think the diet side's important because a lot of the toxins also come
Speaker:from the foods that we eat, right?
Speaker:Um, so if we can eliminate the crappy foods and focus on the good
Speaker:foods, so what does that mean?
Speaker:So if we go into the, in that portion, so for, for.
Speaker:For those listening, I try to make it very simple.
Speaker:It's three meals a day.
Speaker:Each meal has a source of protein, high quality protein, so grass fed instead
Speaker:of, you know, grain fed if possible.
Speaker:So when it comes to the foods, you're kind of moving more into the organic
Speaker:and grass fed and well caught, because that's just gonna be a much.
Speaker:Better, uh, safer, uh, food from toxins or what have you.
Speaker:So, uh, protein, high quality protein, uh, you want a complex carb.
Speaker:What, that's one thing that most people miss.
Speaker:They don't eat carbs.
Speaker:It's not simple carbs, not the pastas and the, you know, the
Speaker:chocolate and all that stuff.
Speaker:Um, you want to have a healthy fat, because healthy fats
Speaker:specifically if, if you're a man.
Speaker:Has cholesterol, and cholesterol is a precursor to testosterone.
Speaker:So healthy fats like avocado and um, you know, olive oil and grass fed
Speaker:butter, like those are Brazil nuts.
Speaker:Um, when we go, and by, by the way, with carbs, I'm talking about, uh,
Speaker:sweet potato, jasmine, rice, quinoa.
Speaker:Steel cut oats.
Speaker:Uh, and then when we move into the vegetables and fruits, like we've gotta
Speaker:be eating more vegetables and fruits.
Speaker:We don't eat enough.
Speaker:And the more organic you can go, the better it is because the broccoli
Speaker:that we eat today is not the same broccoli that we ate 30 years ago.
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:The, I mean, it's just not even close to the nutrients.
Speaker:And so because we don't get as many nutrients from our foods,
Speaker:we do have to supplement.
Speaker:So good high quality whey protein, um, grass fed whey protein.
Speaker:I mean, I actually created my own protein powder.
Speaker:Really?
Speaker:I
Speaker:yeah.
Speaker:Oh yeah.
Speaker:We did that.
Speaker:The um, alpha, alpha Lean Pro and I created that like six years
Speaker:ago because there was no protein.
Speaker:And probably to this day there probably still isn't much, uh, out there.
Speaker:That's healthy.
Speaker:Most protein has have, um, I. Soy, they have, uh, sugar, um, you know, they,
Speaker:they, they've got, uh, hormones and so when you go with a cleaner protein, grass
Speaker:fed, um, you know, just, just very clean.
Speaker:Doesn't have any of, of that, all that extra fillers in there.
Speaker:Um.
Speaker:I'm also lactose intolerant, so I built one that's lactose free, but you want whey
Speaker:protein because that's the highest quality of protein on the biological scale.
Speaker:It's, it's whey protein.
Speaker:And protein powders are important because we do need protein in most
Speaker:men or most people in general, women who don't eat enough protein.
Speaker:So getting it through a shake, which is with water after a workout.
Speaker:I, I like to put it in my steel cut os in the morning, so I'll have
Speaker:steel cut os big scoop of protein.
Speaker:Tons of berries and then, um, you know, almond butter and that, that's the all.
Speaker:so you're getting like the fat and the fiber all in there as
Speaker:Everything we're getting fats, carbs, proteins, and, and the fruits
Speaker:because of the berries, right?
Speaker:right.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:so you want a nice high quality protein and, and invest in that because you're
Speaker:gonna be using that protein quite a bit and you do not want to be using
Speaker:protein that's just not, not as healthy.
Speaker:You also want, uh, vitamin D three.
Speaker:That's another, I mean, we've learned just from, you know, COVID and all of
Speaker:that stuff, how important vitamin D is.
Speaker:For our overall, um, health,
Speaker:Mm-hmm.
Speaker:our immune, because our immune also helps us fight toxins and,
Speaker:uh, we're mostly deficient, right?
Speaker:That was that big thing that came out.
Speaker:So vitamin D three, magnesium omega threes.
Speaker:So kind of like there's a, those, those zinc, those are kind of the ones that
Speaker:you want to make sure that you have.
Speaker:Don't shy away from supplements because.
Speaker:Again, the foods aren't the quality that they used to, so we need to supplement
Speaker:that with, uh, supplements, right?
Speaker:With vitamins, minerals, and the things that we're not getting
Speaker:from the foods that we're eating.
Speaker:and what you listed there, it seems like a pretty across the board for the most part.
Speaker:Like
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:It's everybody.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:Like even my, my, my, my sister-in-law, she eats the exact
Speaker:same way, three meals a day,
Speaker:yeah.
Speaker:No snacking.
Speaker:So three meals.
Speaker:A source of protein, source of healthy fat, source of vegetable or fruit, and
Speaker:a source of complex carbs on that plate.
Speaker:So what if you just should be able to pick it out?
Speaker:Cool.
Speaker:I got it all.
Speaker:Let's eat right.
Speaker:It's, and because you're eating carbs, you're not gonna have to snack, right?
Speaker:You don't, you don't need to snack in between because you're getting
Speaker:enough carbs, which is important for the thyroid, which is important,
Speaker:important for fat burning metabolism.
Speaker:But that's another, that's another, uh, that's another episode.
Speaker:That's another episode.
Speaker:if you can, if you can eliminate snacking.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:I
Speaker:All good, huge.
Speaker:body weight or whatever it is, you know,
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:like
Speaker:Yeah,
Speaker:and down, right?
Speaker:You're just making your body work and never, metabolizing
Speaker:exactly.
Speaker:so,
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:well, Funk, I mean, dude, you load of information.
Speaker:I wanna like do a whole, you know, extract some notes.
Speaker:We might do that.
