Being a dad is a massive responsibility for us as men. Many studies have shown the impact of a good or bad relationship with a father and how it affects our lives. I think we know this intuitively, but we are seeing the effects in society today.

Any man can be a father, but not as many men focus on being a good dad. We must concentrate and put the work in if we want to be a successful dad. This week we talk about some of the common characteristics of successful dads. These are some of the common denominators that good dads are doing to impact their children in a positive way.

Successful Dads are Growing

  • Here is the truth about growth: You never stop growing!
  • Our growth as men doesn't stop when we have kids
  • If we want to grow, we must develop a growth mindset
  • 3 key growth mindsets
  • Growth is Incremental
  • Growth is Self-Motivated
  • Growth is Uncomfortable
  • As you grow as a man, you will grow as a dad

Successful Dads are Authentic

  • If you wear a mask in front of your kids they will figure it out one day
  • Kids will learn our masks and it will hurt our relationship with them and their ability to listen to us
  • We have to be authentic
  • Characteristics of authentic dads
  • Authentic Dads Strive to be Honest
  • Authentic Dads Admit Their Imperfections
  • Authentic Dads Seek to Be Open

Successful Dads are Examples

  • Your kids look up to you
  • Your life influences them for good or bad
  • Our daily choices are the most important part of how we live as examples to our children
  • If we want to be a positive example to our children, we have to make some key choices
  • Building Our Foundation
  • Intentional Living
  • Direct Connection
  • All Dads are examples and they need to accept that responsibility
  • Too many men are not taking that responsibility and it is devastating to our country
