Sometimes the sentence that sounds the most reasonable is the one costing you the most time. “I am almost ready” sounds like patience. It’s actually a permission slip nobody in your life is authorized to sign, and while you wait for it, the waiting quietly manufactures its own evidence that you’re still not ready. In this episode, Tara names that belief plainly and flips it: readiness isn’t a threshold you cross before you build, it’s something the act of building produces. Using her own experience training for a marathon and the first step of the Infinite Scale Method™, the Power of One, Tara shows why the expert who scales their expertise doesn’t wait to feel ready, they build the thing that makes them ready. She closes with three concrete moves you can make this week, starting with the free Scalable Expert Audit.

Hey, everybody.
2
:Welcome to season three of The
Scalable Expert® Podcast, the show
3
:for established expert business owners
who are maxed out on time and ready to
4
:find the scalable impact of their work.
5
:I'm your host, Tara Bryan, founder
of The Scalable Expert® and creator
6
:of the INFINITE SCALE™ Method.
7
:If you've built a business around
your expertise but feel stuck
8
:in the time for money trap, this
podcast is your path forward.
9
:Each week I'll share stories and
strategies and shifts to help you
10
:step into a new scalable business
model by declaring your authority,
11
:packaging your expert framework, and
streamlining your offers and systems
12
:to ultimately become a scalable expert.
13
:Because it's not about working
harder, it's about building smarter.
14
:All you need is one signature
expert framework, and you can
15
:deliver an infinite amount of ways
to be able to scale your business.
16
:All right.
17
:Let's get started
18
:Sometimes an episode that I've planned
months in advance just speaks to me,
19
:and this is an episode that does that.
20
:Because yes, I am also a Scalable Expert.
21
:I built my expertise, and my
mission is to help separate time
22
:from the work that we all do.
23
:One customer, one offer,
and one aha at a time.
24
:I wanted to start today with a sentence
I hear more than almost any other when
25
:I'm working with my customers, and
I also hear it from some of the most
26
:capable people I've ever worked with.
27
:And it doesn't sound like a problem.
28
:It sounds like patience and even wisdom.
29
:Here it is.
30
:"I am almost ready."
31
:I have watched that one sentence cost
expert business owners more years
32
:than any bad decision ever could.
33
:When you tell yourself you're almost
ready, you're not stalling on purpose.
34
:You can genuinely feel the gap between
where you are now and where you're trying
35
:to go, and you are honestly working to
close it one more credential, one more
36
:customer to help prove that this thing
works, one more year of seasoning and
37
:perfecting, and then you tell yourself
you'll build the real version of your
38
:business and scale your expertise.
39
:Just want you to sit with that "and
then" for a minute, because it's where
40
:a lot of good people quietly get stuck.
41
:The "and then" feels like a
place you're traveling toward.
42
:It's not.
43
:It's a feeling, and the feeling
isn't going to help you move forward.
44
:Every single time you get close, it steps
you back in the same distance you just
45
:closed until you can push through it.
46
:Let me name the belief as plainly
as I can, because you cannot
47
:take apart something that you've
never actually verbalized.
48
:It goes something like this.
49
:Somewhere out ahead of me is a line, and
once I cross it, I'll be qualified to
50
:build the next version of my business,
and I will feel it when I cross it.
51
:This is the classic chicken
and the egg dilemma.
52
:The customer I picture whenever I teach
this has been at their work for years.
53
:Real customers, real results, real
frameworks, and genuinely work they've
54
:refined across hundreds of engagements.
55
:And they're still standing at the edge of
their own business, waiting for a signal
56
:that it's finally time to move forward.
57
:Here's the hard part about that signal.
58
:It's not late.
59
:It's just not coming at all.
60
:Not because they're not ready, but
because readiness doesn't announce itself.
61
:What it sends instead is the feeling
of almost, and by almost, it's
62
:very definition means not yet.
63
:So let me give you the truth that
sits underneath all of this because
64
:it changes how you treat waiting.
65
:Readiness is not a threshold
you cross before you build.
66
:It's something that the
act of building produces.
67
:Sit with that for just a second, because
it runs exactly backwards to how most
68
:of us were raised to think about.
69
:The expert who has been in business
for ten years and still feels like
70
:they need one more thing before they
can make their methodology tangible
71
:is not actually short on readiness.
72
:They're waiting for a permission
slip, and there's no one in their life
73
:who's authorized to actually sign it.
74
:No board, no credential, no
revenue number hands it over.
75
:It simply doesn't exist.
76
:And it quietly gets worse because the
waiting manufactures its own evidence.
77
:Every month you spend inside the
current model doing everything by
78
:hand, being the person every result
has to run through, is one more month
79
:away from the clarity you keep telling
yourself you need before you can start.
80
:You're trying to earn your way to a
feeling that shows up on the far side
81
:of the thing that you keep postponing.
82
:As I mentioned, this was my reality
for years as a business owner.
83
:Sometimes I'd catch myself
waiting for a sign it was the
84
:right time and I was ready.
85
:But when I realized that it was
holding me back, I took action
86
:and started getting results.
87
:The waiting for perfection or to be a
hundred percent ready just won't happen.
88
:One thing I tell myself when
it shows up is it's a lot
89
:like training for a marathon.
90
:Back in the day, I remember training
for my first marathon and the
91
:overwhelming idea that I could actually
run twenty-six point two miles.
92
:I didn't just sign up for the
race and then run that distance.
93
:I had to plan, do a lot
of training, and prepare.
94
:But ultimately, what I needed was
a belief that if I just started
95
:following the plan and taking steps,
that I would be able to do it.
96
:But I didn't want, until I did
it, to believe that I could.
97
:This is the difference between taking
action that ultimately helped me get
98
:the results that I set out to achieve.
99
:Scaling your expertise is similar.
100
:It doesn't work to take the
steps and not take action.
101
:Here's a reframe I want to leave you with,
and I want you to feel how much lighter
102
:it is than the belief we started with.
103
:The expert who scales
does not wait to be ready.
104
:They build the thing
that makes them ready.
105
:The confidence you are waiting for,
the clarity, the named methodology
106
:that finally sells on its own terms
without you re-explaining it in every
107
:conversation, none of that arrives first.
108
:It's not the price of admission.
109
:It's what the building produces.
110
:This is the whole reason the
first step of the INFINITE SCALE™
111
:Method is called the Power of One.
112
:People sometimes assume that it is a
step that you take once everything is
113
:already figured out, a kind of victory
lap, but it's actually the opposite.
114
:It's the act of figuring it out.
115
:When you commit to one customer, one
problem, one result, and ultimately one
116
:methodology, you're not being rewarded
for readiness that you already had.
117
:You are running the exact
process that creates it.
118
:So if you take one thing
from today, let it be this.
119
:You're not waiting to be ready.
120
:You're waiting to feel ready.
121
:And that feeling was never
available from inside the model
122
:you are operating in right now.
123
:It lives on the other side of that first
real decision to take action, and the
124
:only way to reach it is to make the
decision before that feeling arrives.
125
:So here are three things that you
can do to go from where you are
126
:today to where you want to go.
127
:One, take a look at your current business
model and see how far you actually are.
128
:The scalable business audit
can help you with this.
129
:You can find the link to that
audit in today's show notes.
130
:Number two, journal where you are waiting
to be ready before you get in the game.
131
:Be honest in why you're waiting
and how and when you will be ready.
132
:Three, take a step towards action today.
133
:For some of you, it's just realizing
you are waiting, and for others, it
134
:may be taking the first step with being
visible or pressure testing your offer.
135
:All right, so there you go.
136
:That is today's episode.
137
:I encourage you to not wait to be
ready, not wait for that permission
138
:slip that tells you that you have
what it takes to get started.
139
:Take some action today to
get you past that point.
140
:If you love this episode, go
ahead and give it a rating,
141
:share it with your colleagues.
142
:And until next time, build
your business and take action.
143
:Have a great week.
