“…for they will hear of your great name and your mighty hand and your outstretched arm – when they come and pray toward this temple.”
The Peace of God pt 4
We have been studying what the Apostle Paul had to say about the benefits of praying in the Spirit. Yesterday, we discovered what the word “and” actually infers when we are reading our Bibles. The word “and” is a conjunction that connects two meanings or thoughts together.
In the context of our scripture from Philippians 4:6-7, it connects something we are supposed to be doing with something that we will receive in return. Let’s look again at Philippians 4:6-7:
“Be careful for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
So, if you do what verse six tells us to do, “Be careful for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God,” then we can have what verse 7 promises us, “And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
We cannot jump straight to verse 7 and start “naming it and claiming it” unless we fulfill our obligation under verse 6 first, which is pray to God by not concerning ourselves with the cares of this world, but to simply lift our concerns to God through prayer, supplication and with thanksgiving in our praises to Him. We can do this because we know He cares for us – which is why we should not have a care in this world.
Notice when we begin to do this, we receive the “the peace of God, which passes all understanding.”
Those around you will think something is wrong with you! They will wonder why you are not worried, why you are not concerned and why you are not consumed with “the cares of this world!”
What they don’t realize is THEY are the ones with something wrong with them! Amen!
The Peace of God that YOU receive has nothing to do with natural circumstances. It is the result of “heart faith,” what you believe in your heart, not your head.
Heart faith is different from you may be seeing and experiencing in the natural. The natural mind is consumed with natural things. But your spirit man exists in your heart, your spiritual heart – and it is where the Holy Spirit of the Most High God dwells. You cannot be consumed with temporal things of this world when you are an eternal being, created in the image of Jesus – who is the image of God Himself! Amen!
You have probably done something at some point in time where you have LOST the Peace of God. I know I have – which is why I know have also.
We do something that we know we should not being doing. The world says, “your conscious is bothering you.” To the world, that is how they can explain it.
What is really happening is the Holy Spirit is convicting you about what it is you are about to do or have done. “the peace of God, which passes all understanding” is absent.
Why? Because God is not going to be present to help you commit sin! This is His way of telling you that what you are about to do is wrong.
A Spiritually sensitive person is going to sense the Peace of God leave them and will STOP what they are doing, repent and get back into the presence of God so the Peace of God will come back to them.
Alright, I’m going over time again today. We will take it up here tomorrow.
