This episode of the David Spoon Experience dives into the six different types of professing Christians, highlighting the distinction between genuine faith and various misguided approaches. Dr. Spoon categorizes Christians into groups such as the American Christian, Social Christian, Political Christian, Religious Christian, Situational Christian, and the Biblical Christian. The core message emphasizes that only the Biblical Christian aligns with the true teachings of Jesus, urging listeners to evaluate their own faith and relationship with God. Throughout the discussion, Spoon critiques the societal norms that often dilute the essence of Christianity, advocating for a return to biblical principles and a focus on eternity over temporal concerns. With humor and insight, he encourages believers to draw nearer to God and embody the authentic Christian life.
Dr. David Spoon delves into the complexities of Christian identity in modern society, presenting a thought-provoking analysis of six distinct types of Christians. He categorizes them as American, social, political, religious, situational, and biblical Christians, each representing different approaches to faith and spirituality. Spoon critiques the notion that being American inherently makes one a Christian, emphasizing the importance of personal faith and relationship with Jesus over cultural or national identity. He highlights the pitfalls of social Christianity, which prioritizes material equality over spiritual growth, and urges listeners to recognize the dangers of equating political affiliations with genuine faith. Through engaging anecdotes and biblical references, Spoon encourages his audience to strive for a biblical Christian identity, marked by a deep understanding of Scripture and a commitment to living out their faith authentically. He stresses that true Christianity transcends labels and requires a personal commitment to follow Christ wholeheartedly, urging listeners to reflect on their own faith journeys.
Takeaways:
And now for something completely different.
David Spoon:Here's what's coming up this hour on today's Experience.
David Spoon:It's fantastic.
David Spoon:Phenomenal, always fun, usually somewhat fascinating.
David Spoon:Friday as we head into the weekend not being afraid, even if the earth gives way or the mountains fall into the seas, because our help comes from the Lord first, we cherish our Friday fellowship with our DDDs.
David Spoon:We often delve into decisions and discussions, and in the midst of it all, it seems like the Lord will often intervene and redirect our thoughts momentarily.
David Spoon:But that's the beauty of the kingdom.
David Spoon:So brace yourselves, little campers.
David Spoon:Let's see what happens.
David Spoon:People, by the way, often envision Jesus as a peace loving figure, donning a tie, dye T shirt and sandals and flashing the peace sign.
David Spoon:However, the reality is that sometimes sparks, heat and friction are necessary for God to make us more malleable and adaptable.
David Spoon:These sparks and frictions, by the way, can often come from our interactions with one another.
David Spoon:And guess what?
David Spoon:Often permitted by God.
David Spoon:And finally, of all the teachings, the one I might do today could be the most challenging.
David Spoon:So I'm praying about it even as I'm talking to you.
David Spoon:We will examine the various types of professing Christians that exist on this planet.
David Spoon:Now, I have identified personally, I've identified.
David Spoon:I don't have the lock and the key on this.
David Spoon:I've just come up with six different types of professing Christians.
David Spoon:That means that five of them are invalid and only one is valid.
David Spoon:So we will attempt, if the Lord allows, to examine where these five types come from and their purpose and focus.
David Spoon:And then the one type of Christian that is God ordained, Jesus blessed and Holy Spirit anointed.
David Spoon:Yes, five out of six are misguided.
David Spoon:Yes, we need to align ourselves with the right one so that we can be right with the one.
Narrator:David Spoon's life has been an experience.
Narrator:While growing up in a Jewish family, he made a wrong turn towards drug abuse.
Narrator:Then David Spoon found Jesus Christ and his life completely changed.
Narrator:The more he studied, the more he wanted to share his experiences with others.
Narrator:After 35 years of ministry, David discovered a new path of service.
Narrator:He joined KAM and this radio program began.
Narrator:You're about to hear the David Spoon Experience.
David Spoon:Welcome to the David Spoon Experience.
David Spoon:Local, national and heavenly talk.
David Spoon:Here's what else we're looking at during the show.
David Spoon:Lessons for survey, thriving living and prevailing politics, entertainment and current events, personal revelations, spiritual observations, my life's insanities, and so much more.
David Spoon:Now remember folks, it's not professional radio.
David Spoon:And how do we know it's not professional radio.
David Spoon:We're going to talk to the boss man, the boss man of professional radio, our very own jam in Jacob.
David Spoon:Jamin Jacob.
David Spoon:The boss man of professional radio is the David Spoon experience.
David Spoon:Professional radio.
Jamin Jacob:No, it is not, David.
Jamin Jacob:We prove that every show, every show.
David Spoon:We'Ve proved at and we can even prove it right now.
David Spoon:Our phones don't work.
David Spoon:That just shows you how not professional we are.
Jamin Jacob:There you go.
David Spoon:I mean, it makes it that simple.
David Spoon:Here's what we do want to do.
David Spoon:We do want to connect with you.
David Spoon:We do want to make sure you have a outlet that you can connect with us in.
David Spoon:So because our phones are down, what you can do in this show for this next hour is you can email.
David Spoon:That's right.
David Spoon:Electronic mail.
David Spoon:And it doesn't need a stamp.
David Spoon:Davidmusincrease.org that's davidmusincrease.org david.org you can also text during the show.
David Spoon:You can even text just to say hi.
David Spoon:It's fine.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:If you text or if you email, make sure that you give a hello to our very own jammin Jacob.
David Spoon:When you connect with jam and Jacob, well, that's just like heading into the weekend.
Jamin Jacob:Thank you, David.
Jamin Jacob:Happy Friday.
David Spoon:Happy Friday on you, Mr.
David Spoon:Slow of Draw.
David Spoon:That seemed to go a little slower.
Jamin Jacob:Had to, had to move to it real quick.
Jamin Jacob:Move to the clapping.
David Spoon:I'm just giving you a hard time.
David Spoon:Anyway, you got any big plans for the weekend or you watching football?
David Spoon:What are you doing?
Jamin Jacob:Yeah, just watching football.
Jamin Jacob:Off for a couple days, so just relaxing and probably seeing the Cowboys lose Sunday.
David Spoon:That's so mean.
David Spoon:That's mean.
David Spoon:Do we have a Jake's take today, by the way?
Jamin Jacob:If you want to, we can do it.
David Spoon:Okay, well, I'm going to definitely want to because I don't even know what's going on.
David Spoon:So I've been very, very, very, very consumed and busy.
David Spoon:So that's my own fault.
David Spoon:So we will definitely do that.
David Spoon:By the way, you're doing an excellent job and everybody's praying for you, brother.
David Spoon:So just keep going forward.
David Spoon:Thank you.
David Spoon:All right, here we go.
David Spoon:So why in the world would you text us or email us?
David Spoon:What is wrong with you people?
David Spoon:Besides that you're listening to this show?
David Spoon:It's pretty simple.
David Spoon:You might have a praise report and we want you to have that opportunity to share it, to bless other People to honor God, to strengthen it yourself.
David Spoon:Yeah, you might have to do it through an email.
David Spoon:I think you can write down this sentence.
David Spoon:God answered a prayer for me regarding finances.
David Spoon:God answered a prayer for me regarding health.
David Spoon:God answered a prayer for me regarding a nice night's sleep.
David Spoon:Right.
David Spoon:It could be any of that.
David Spoon:And maybe you got a text, you can do it the exact same way.
David Spoon:Maybe you've got a prayer request.
David Spoon:Same thing.
David Spoon:I need prayer for some of my health.
David Spoon:I need prayer for our finances.
David Spoon:I need prayer for I can have a good night's sleep.
David Spoon:That all applies.
David Spoon:Maybe you've got a scripture that you just want to share.
David Spoon:Now, on our bent or our approach, our angle, we're much more geared towards encouraging one another.
David Spoon:We're a little different than some of the other shows and we don't have anything against the shows.
David Spoon:We love the shows.
David Spoon:I love anybody that puts it out there for the kingdom and does their best.
David Spoon:But in our space, what we're trying to do is encourage one another to draw closer to the Lord because that's what the scripture encourages us in.
David Spoon: Hebrews: David Spoon:That is not what everybody should be doing.
David Spoon:Everybody should not have the same kind of show.
David Spoon:They should have the show that the Lord has put on their hearts.
David Spoon:And in my heart, the Lord's put on encouraging one another.
David Spoon:As we see the day of the return of Jesus Christ getting closer and closer, helping people draw near to God and then he will draw near to them.
David Spoon:And what's important about that is, from my point of view, after 46 years of being a Christian and seeing more ups and downs than I care to discuss, the reality is every answer I've come to, including having lots of money and having no money and lots of good health, and having no good health, having lots of good relationships, having lousy relationships.
David Spoon:The clue of everything I've ever gotten is every answer sits under the umbrella of more of God in the situation.
David Spoon:That's it.
David Spoon:Just going to keep it that simple.
David Spoon:So we encourage that.
David Spoon:By the way, we also do Bible trivia.
David Spoon:Why?
David Spoon:Because people like Bible trivia.
David Spoon:Besides, I love sharing it.
David Spoon:Here we go.
David Spoon:Here's your first Bible trivia question.
David Spoon:You will have to use the text or use the email.
David Spoon:The phones are down, so they're not working yet.
David Spoon:Here it is.
David Spoon:Finish this.
David Spoon: Proverbs from Proverbs: David Spoon:Finish the verse.
David Spoon:Where there is no vision, finish the verse.
David Spoon: Proverbs: David Spoon:What?
David Spoon:What if you think you know you can text text us at.
David Spoon:What's our text?
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:Or you can send an email davidcrease.org in the meantime, we will do our DNA.
David Spoon:Are we able to still do that right now?
David Spoon:Can we do it?
Jamin Jacob:Yes, yes, yes, yes.
David Spoon:Okay, cool.
David Spoon:D stands for draw closer to the Lord daily.
David Spoon:Every day.
David Spoon:Every day that n's in Y.
David Spoon:Spend some time with a guy in the sky.
David Spoon:Hello.
David Spoon:Hello.
David Spoon:Right.
David Spoon:Every day.
David Spoon:Why?
David Spoon:Because it'll make your life better.
David Spoon:That's why.
David Spoon:There's things that we do in life that really help us out, and some of those are really good.
David Spoon:Exercising, eating better.
David Spoon:All that stuff's good, good, good.
David Spoon:Not bad about it, right?
David Spoon:I mean, every once in a while, you got to have a crazy, crazy meal, right?
David Spoon:No problem.
David Spoon:Cool.
David Spoon:But that is nothing compared to the quality your life will become if you spend time with God.
David Spoon:And we ain't talking about doing something religious.
David Spoon:The last thing we're talking about, what we're talking about is you spending alone time with God in prayer.
David Spoon:And then keep in mind, God created the universe so the dude can write a book.
David Spoon:Hello, everybody else can write a book except for God.
David Spoon:I think that's funny.
David Spoon:Anyhow.
David Spoon:Spending time in his word and spending time in prayer, communing with the Lord.
David Spoon:That, my friends, is a key to a quality life.
David Spoon:Draw closer to the Lord daily.
David Spoon:DN Never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David Spoon:While the world is going to try and shame everybody for everything they don't like.
David Spoon:Who cares?
David Spoon:They don't got a heaven to put you in.
David Spoon:How silly is that?
David Spoon:Well, I really care what the media says.
David Spoon:In fact, they came up with a new bumper sticker today.
David Spoon:You want to hear the new bumper sticker?
David Spoon:Here's the memory.
David Spoon:They were going through this thing.
David Spoon:The big lie.
David Spoon:The big lie.
David Spoon:The big lie.
David Spoon:Here it is.
David Spoon:Ready?
David Spoon:Here's the big lie.
David Spoon:The media.
David Spoon:Okay, got that?
David Spoon:Don't pay attention to that.
David Spoon:Pay attention to the Lord.
David Spoon:They don't know what's going to happen in five minutes.
David Spoon:God knows every nuance and never be ashamed of what he had to say.
David Spoon:Luke, chapter 9, verse 26.
David Spoon:Jesus said, if you're ashamed of me and my words, when I come in the Father's glory with the holy angels, I'll be ashamed of you.
David Spoon:Wow.
David Spoon:Don't want that.
David Spoon:So that's D.
David Spoon:Draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David Spoon:A Always be ready.
Jamin Jacob:To serve I was on time there.
David Spoon:Good job.
David Spoon:Always ready to serve.
David Spoon:What?
David Spoon:Why is that important?
David Spoon:Because we're always ready.
David Spoon:For us.
David Spoon:For us.
David Spoon:That's why it's important.
David Spoon:And we can't do that.
David Spoon:Our lives are spread.
David Spoon:We were purchased by the blood of Jesus.
David Spoon:He redeemed us.
David Spoon:That means he bought us back.
David Spoon:He bought us back and brought us back from sin and from disaster and from eternal destructions and from different things that'll just be awful.
David Spoon:He bought us and brought us.
David Spoon:And we're his property.
David Spoon:And we need to remember that and that we are ready for anything the Lord wants.
David Spoon:Does that mean you'll do it perfectly?
David Spoon:No.
David Spoon:I've told you a thousand times.
David Spoon:No, no, no, no, no, no.
David Spoon:But we need to do it more.
David Spoon:And that's what the Lord wants from us.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:D Draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David Spoon:A Always be ready to serve.
David Spoon:In the meantime, I will throw out, not throw up.
David Spoon:The trivia question one more time, finish this proverb.
David Spoon: Proverb: David Spoon: Proverbs: David Spoon:If you think you know.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon:David.
David Spoon:He must increase.org that's me, David crease.org one of those two ways.
David Spoon:Either way, it'll work.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:All right, all right.
David Spoon:It's all right.
David Spoon:It's all right.
David Spoon:Cool.
David Spoon:Let me do my first little thing.
David Spoon: And it's in Proverbs: David Spoon:And I want to talk about this, but I want to do it in a positive light versus a negative light.
David Spoon:Every time we read a proverb and you got some guilt in it or some where you're falling shy, you think, oh, oh, the word of God is not designed for you to read something and then just get depressed and walk off to the left or to the right.
David Spoon:Okay?
David Spoon:That's not what the Lord's trying to do.
David Spoon:He's trying to encourage us to reflect Jesus Christ.
David Spoon:And in that process, I want to make sure everybody understands something.
David Spoon:And I want to say it in a really nice way.
David Spoon:Too many people think that Jesus was a hippie.
David Spoon:I'm sorry?
David Spoon:And by hippie, I mean when I grew up, hippie, 70s hippie, tie, dye, bandana, you know what I'm saying?
David Spoon:Peace, medallion.
David Spoon:Everything's cool.
David Spoon:Everything's cool.
David Spoon:Love is love.
David Spoon:There's no big deal.
David Spoon:Jesus never said that.
David Spoon:He never functioned that way.
David Spoon:There was nothing in his ministries, nothing in the gospels that say that.
David Spoon:In fact, when Jesus identifies his love.
David Spoon:He says, all that I love, I rebuke and chasten.
David Spoon:So people don't want to read that because it doesn't fit their little motif.
David Spoon:Who cares?
David Spoon:But what we need to understand is in the kingdom of God, and this is really important.
David Spoon:And you've probably had some of this with me or for somebody like me, and it's simply this, iron sharpens iron and one man sharpens another.
David Spoon:So we always think of that in super negative terms and we don't need to.
David Spoon:If you have a difference of opinion or if you have a different element and you're engaged with somebody like a husband and wife, just because they see something different, that does not mean that that's just a bad thing.
David Spoon:In fact, that's actually not true at all.
David Spoon:When it talks about iron sharpening iron and another man sharpens another man.
David Spoon:The idea is simply this.
David Spoon:There is a heating up that takes place when you take iron and move it against iron.
David Spoon:And yes, there are some sparks, and yes, there's some heat, and yes, there's some friction.
David Spoon:But here's the key.
David Spoon:It makes the iron more pliable.
David Spoon:So the Lord allows some of those sparks, the Lord allows some of that heat, the Lord allows some of that friction so that we can be a little more moldable, so that we're not so stiff necked.
David Spoon:If you'll recall in the book of Exodus, the people of Israel are very stiff necked.
David Spoon:If you recall in Acts when Stephen's doing recounting, he tells them, you people are stiff necked.
David Spoon:It's a very bad thing to be stiff necked.
David Spoon:It means that the Lord's not.
David Spoon:You're not molding, you're resisting the moldable.
David Spoon:And so it's not just people outside of the kingdom of God, but it's also people inside the kingdom of God.
David Spoon:And because you have frictions with somebody, the scripture is absolutely positively, dramatically forceful in this.
David Spoon:Because you have sparks or friction, that is not a reason for you to abandon relationship.
David Spoon:And I'm not talking about, you know, major things where somebody.
David Spoon:I'm talking about when you have an issue with somebody at church, I don't like the way they think this or do this or this, that's fine.
David Spoon:But that's not an excuse to go, I'm going to another church, I'm going to take my ball and go home.
David Spoon:That's not the way to go about that.
David Spoon:Sometimes that friction resonates in us so that God can expand us, change us, mold us.
David Spoon:Don't be afraid of that.
David Spoon:As Being some kind of calling card to bring something to an end.
David Spoon:Be aware that the Lord may be using that to help you be a little bit more like Christ.
David Spoon:And sometimes the Lord will allow that so that you get this.
David Spoon:You won't love this, but this is cool.
David Spoon:Allow this to happen to you so that you can learn to be a forgiving person, so that you really will reflect Jesus Christ.
David Spoon:Has somebody hurt you?
David Spoon:I'm sorry.
David Spoon:I know somebody's hurt you somewhere.
David Spoon:Jesus didn't say if somebody offends you.
David Spoon:He said when somebody offends you.
David Spoon:But forgiveness is a powerful element, and perhaps that sparks in that situation require you to generate a more Christlike heart.
David Spoon:That's not a bad thing, folks.
David Spoon:That's a good thing.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:All right, getting to the trivia question.
David Spoon:Finish this proverb.
David Spoon:Where there is no vision, it is either one of two.
David Spoon:The people cast off restraint or the people perish.
David Spoon:When there is nothing to look forward to, there is nothing to keep people moving forward.
David Spoon:Hey, you know what?
David Spoon:We have a vision for heaven.
David Spoon:Hallelujah.
David Spoon:We don't have any reason, any reason to cast off restraint, do we?
David Spoon:All right, we'll take our break and then come back.
David Spoon:You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on KAM 770, the true station here in Texas.
David Spoon:Your break.
David Spoon:We'll be back.
David Spoon:Don't go anywhere.
David Spoon:The David Spoon Experience.
David Spoon:So we chatted about it on the phone, and it turned out that he had a pastor who used to be his pastor reach out to him and say, the Lord put you on my heart.
David Spoon:You know, I want to know what's going on with your life.
David Spoon:He had another person say, hey, if you got this situation, let me know.
David Spoon:He was talking to me.
David Spoon:He was talking to somebody else.
David Spoon:And it was like he had, like, four sources of support and didn't even realize that what he was seeing was the circumstance, which we all do.
David Spoon:And when we pulled it back and looked at it, he's like, yeah, there's like four different places he was getting support from.
David Spoon:And it's like, that's amazing.
David Spoon:But see, that's not that amazing in the context of just what Peter and John said when they went into the temple.
David Spoon:Children, you men of Israel, why does this miracle surprise you?
David Spoon:Why does it even surprise us?
David Spoon:God does so many things to reach to us and to speak to us.
David Spoon:He is never.
David Spoon:Let me just say this.
David Spoon:He is never absent from your tragedy.
David Spoon:He has never disappeared from your circumstance.
David Spoon:It's never happened.
David Spoon:Long before you said yes.
David Spoon:God said yes to you.
David Spoon:Just think about the level of that, the commitment that would take.
David Spoon:That means that God looked at my life and in spite of my.
David Spoon:In spite of my insanities, said, yeah, we'll take him.
David Spoon:Is that a me?
David Spoon:Think about how amazing that is.
David Spoon:And so I was.
David Spoon:Somebody had sent me a video about somebody who had an experience in heaven.
David Spoon:And I was like, well, you know, I like some of those, but some of those are kind of weird and squirrely and da, da, da, da.
David Spoon:And then the Lord was reminding me about my own dream that I had about making it in heaven, where God had.
David Spoon:The king had his arm around me and he showed me different things in my life.
David Spoon:And here's what you accepted, my son.
David Spoon:Let me tell you something.
David Spoon:God will reach you and touch you and speak to you.
David Spoon:The biggest question for all of us is, are we listening?
David Spoon:Do you remember what happened when the Lord spoke over Jesus?
David Spoon:The Father spoke from heaven over Jesus.
David Spoon:And the Bible says that the people thought that it thundered, but it didn't thunder.
David Spoon:God spoke.
David Spoon:See what?
David Spoon:See that right there?
David Spoon:That right there.
David Spoon:Because what we do is we think what thundered, but it's God speaking.
David Spoon:The biggest question is, are we listening on Christ?
Narrator:The solid broadcast in all of us.
David Spoon:Oh, welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.
David Spoon:Thank you for joining us here at KAM 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.
David Spoon:That's KAAM, N770, the Truth Station here in Texas.
David Spoon:I want to acknowledge the people that texted, plus John, who also emailed his answer in.
David Spoon:Nice job.
David Spoon:Nice job, brother.
David Spoon:That is right.
David Spoon:What happens when the people, when they have no vision?
David Spoon:The people perish.
David Spoon:They cast off restraint.
David Spoon:It's really important to understand that that's why you have to have vision.
David Spoon:So I'm going to offer another trivia question and then we're going to go a different direction because Jeanette has asked a great question and I want to leap off of it and take the time to talk to you about it.
David Spoon:So I know that the Lord wants to redirect and I love it when he does this because you just don't know exactly how things are going to go.
David Spoon:But we trust him for all of it.
David Spoon:And so let's get into the next trivia question.
David Spoon:This is.
David Spoon:I don't know if it's easier, but this is coming out of Genesis.
David Spoon:Who said when they said to one another, behold, the dreamer comes.
David Spoon:Who were they talking about?
David Spoon:Who were the dreamer?
David Spoon:Who was the dreamer they were talking about?
David Spoon: So in Genesis: David Spoon:Who are they talking about?
David Spoon: amer in this verse of Genesis: David Spoon:And you should know because we talked about this on a trivia question just prior.
David Spoon:So again, I just want to make sure you get this.
David Spoon:So these are people that are gathered together and they say, behold, the dreamer comes.
David Spoon:Who are they talking about when they're talking about the dreamer?
David Spoon: Genesis: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:So Jeanette has asked a question and I love that she did this because this is kind of how I want it to roll until we get everything fixed.
David Spoon:It's totally okay to do this and I encourage you to do this.
David Spoon:She asked a very practical Christian question.
David Spoon:She wants to know how can you better view life from a kingdom perspective?
David Spoon:In other words, how do you do that?
David Spoon:How do you get your life so that your more kingdom oriented might be a way?
David Spoon:And if I'm rephrasing it wrong, let me know.
David Spoon:Jeanette But I think that's kind of where you're heading is how do you get your life so that you can look at it better from the kingdom point of view, Especially with Jesus saying seek ye first the kingdom and seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.
David Spoon:Which by the way, some people think, well, that's personalized righteousness.
David Spoon:I don't think so.
David Spoon:I think the righteousness is the righteousness that God offers to his people.
David Spoon:And that's Jesus Christ, which is his way of saying, seek me.
David Spoon:But the bottom line is seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these other things will be added to you.
David Spoon:How do you go about that?
David Spoon:How do you have the practicality of that?
David Spoon:My answer is actually going to come directly out of Colossians 31 2, which I'm going to teach in a couple of months.
David Spoon:But I want to do it right now because I'll just do it kind of quickly.
David Spoon:And it says this.
David Spoon:If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above where Christ is seated, sitting at the right hand of the Father.
David Spoon:Set your mind on things above, not on things of the earth.
David Spoon:So what we get from Scripture is the how to seek the kingdom of God, the seeking that's talked about in Colossians 3:1 where it says, Seek those things which are above.
David Spoon:And then it's like, well, how do you do that?
David Spoon:Verse two tells you set your mind on things above.
David Spoon:So what does that mean and how do you approach that?
David Spoon:What it really means is that you have to look at everything you see with eternity in mind.
David Spoon:Let me just say that again so that nobody misses it.
David Spoon:I mean, this is so important, because if people live their lives with eternity in mind, they would certainly do a lot less of the.
David Spoon:What's the word I want to use?
David Spoon:Really bad things.
David Spoon:Right?
David Spoon:I mean.
David Spoon:Right.
David Spoon:Okay, here's the deal.
David Spoon:And I love this statement.
David Spoon:And if you don't write it down, I understand.
David Spoon:But if you're a person that writes stuff down, it's so, so powerful.
David Spoon:It will change your life.
David Spoon:Today, right now, everything loses its power in the face of eternity.
David Spoon:Now, that's not God's side of it.
David Spoon:That's the flesh side of it, the human side of it, the people side of it, the sin side of it, all the other things side of it.
David Spoon:Let me make sure you understand what I'm trying to communicate.
David Spoon:In the face of eternity, everything loses its power.
David Spoon:So let me help you out.
David Spoon:Your health and how it's going right now loses its power in the face of eternity.
David Spoon:Your bank account and what you can or cannot pay or do or do not pay loses its power in the face of eternity.
David Spoon:Your good relationships or your bad relationships do not hold the weight of eternity.
David Spoon:Those difficulties you have with certain elements, whether it's government or whether it's media, whether it's academia, whether it's Hollywood or whether it's people in church or whether it's, you know, certain ways ministries go, it all loses power in the face of eternity.
David Spoon:Worry and frustration and despair and discouragement and depression lose a great deal of their power in the face of eternity.
David Spoon:Because here is the most simplistic answer you will ever deal with.
David Spoon:Do you know that bill that you need to pay that is more than you have?
David Spoon:What happens in 90 years to that bill?
David Spoon:It is gone.
David Spoon:But eternity is not.
David Spoon:Do you know that struggling disease that you're having now?
David Spoon:Just really, just so irritating.
David Spoon:Oh, it irritates me so.
David Spoon:Right.
David Spoon:I have things going on on a regular basis just like most people.
David Spoon:Hey, you know what?
David Spoon:In 90 years won't be an issue.
David Spoon:I used to tell people, I used to really do this when I was living in Arizona.
David Spoon:They had, you know, the electric company.
David Spoon:And so I would say to people, here's what you have to do to worry about your electricity Think about it in 90, what it looks like in 90 years, it ain't there.
David Spoon:None of this stuff is there.
David Spoon:Don't you understand?
David Spoon:All of these frustrations, all of these falling shorts, all of these gosh, it doesn't happen the way I need it to happen, or it's not looking the way I need it to happen.
David Spoon:All that stuff drops, it's gone.
David Spoon:And what Jesus tries to teach us to do is live with that principle in mind.
David Spoon:That's why he said, lay up treasures in heaven, not on earth.
David Spoon:Well, Dave, are you trying to say we should be so heavenly minded?
David Spoon:We're of no earthly good?
David Spoon:And all these people are getting really mad about this statement who are Christians during this election cycle.
David Spoon:And the answer is yes, that's still the answer.
David Spoon:Because the ultimate answer for everything in the universe is God's kingdom.
David Spoon:And God's kingdom is the establishment of, of eternity.
David Spoon:And it's like, okay, here's what we're going to do.
David Spoon:We're going to look at these things the way Jesus said to.
David Spoon:We're going to insert the picture of Jesus, we're going to insert the picture of heaven, we're going to insert the picture of eternity as we look at it.
David Spoon:And what is it that those people that were commended In Hebrews, chapter 11, verses 13 through 16, why were they commended?
David Spoon:Because they didn't consider where they were their home.
David Spoon:But they were looking for a city whose builder and maker is God.
David Spoon:They would not put it here on earth.
David Spoon:They were looking for the new heavens and the new earth where God is the architect and that everything would be right and they would not pour all of their energies into this earth.
David Spoon:They were pouring it into laying up for what is to come.
David Spoon:And that is how you get over that initial hump that's just glaring at you, it's mocking you.
David Spoon:And you just give it the very thing it needs.
David Spoon:You're nothing.
David Spoon:And in a hundred years you'll be gone.
David Spoon:I look at things with God, I look at things with Jesus interceding for me.
David Spoon:I look at things from a new heavens and a new earth perspective.
David Spoon:I lay up treasure for heaven.
David Spoon:I say no.
David Spoon:And so you actually have to set your mind.
David Spoon:No.
David Spoon:It's not positive thinking, it's recognizing where we're going.
David Spoon:It's just looking at the truth going, tess, that's my home.
David Spoon:Do you ever feel like you don't belong here on the planet?
David Spoon:You don't.
David Spoon:You're a stranger, you're an alien, because this is not your home.
David Spoon:That's how you do that.
David Spoon:And no, it's not the easiest thing to do.
David Spoon:You do it in partnership with God.
David Spoon:You do it step by step.
David Spoon:You make sure your brain is saturated in the word of God.
David Spoon:You make sure you're spending time with the Lord.
David Spoon:You make sure you do as much fellowship as you can.
David Spoon:You make sure you're allowing things of the kingdom of God to flush through your heart and mind so that you're not having things of the world and things of the flesh take over.
David Spoon:But that's how you do it.
David Spoon:That's how you approach it.
David Spoon:That's how you challenge it.
David Spoon:Okay, all right, all right.
David Spoon:In regards to the great question, Jeanette, thank you.
David Spoon:In regards to the trivia question, this group of people said.
David Spoon:They said to one another, behold, the dreamer cometh.
David Spoon:Who were they talking about?
David Spoon:Who was the dreamer in this verse?
David Spoon:And the dreamer was Joseph.
David Spoon:It was his brothers that were saying that.
David Spoon:And they were like, oh, here comes the dreamer.
David Spoon:Ew.
David Spoon:Funny, because the dream had to do with what?
David Spoon:The future.
David Spoon:Ah, that's pretty funny because we just got done talking about that.
David Spoon:All right, we'll take a break and then we'll come back.
David Spoon:You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on KAM 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.
David Spoon:Short break.
David Spoon:We'll be back.
David Spoon:Don't go anywhere.
Narrator:Have you ever wanted to get involved with a ministry that promotes Jesus Christ as Lord, but just don't know how?
Narrator:Serving in ministry is a matter of devotion, time, and talent.
Narrator:Are you looking for a place to try and test the waters?
Narrator:Do you want to get involved?
Narrator:Come join the Ambassadors Initiative.
Narrator:Be an ambassador for the David Spoon Experience.
Narrator:It doesn't pay great.
Narrator:Actually, it doesn't pay anything, but the eternal benefits are out of this world.
Narrator:Be a representative.
Narrator:Why not?
Narrator:It couldn't hurt.
Narrator:Well, we hope not.
Narrator:Anyway, you don't need to be a professionally qualified minister.
Narrator:You need to have a pulse.
Narrator:By that we mean you need to have a heart.
Narrator:Just go to hemustincrease.org that's he must increase.org, click on the three lines at the top right of the website, and then click on the Ambassador's Initiative link.
Narrator:Fill out the form and we will reach out to you.
Narrator:Sorry, no parking tickets will be paid for you as an ambassador through this position.
David Spoon:What is the David Spoon Experience?
David Spoon:Jesus Christ as the Lamb of God.
David Spoon:For you and I, God provided his own burnt offering, his own lamb of sacrifice.
David Spoon:Because our presentations are not that hot.
David Spoon:And this is where you get the understanding that the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
David Spoon:All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
David Spoon:How many?
David Spoon:All.
David Spoon:And the wages of sin is death.
David Spoon:That's the result.
David Spoon:But the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
David Spoon:And God showed his love for us while we were still sinners.
David Spoon:That Christ died for us.
David Spoon:That's the love.
David Spoon:He was the sacrificial lamb.
David Spoon:And if you have never made that decision, I invite you right now to make that decision to acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord.
David Spoon:If you declare with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
David Spoon:Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
David Spoon:This is where you get John 3:16, which people will say is the gospel in a scripture which is not far off.
David Spoon:For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
David Spoon:That gift is available for you.
David Spoon:And if you have never exercised that acceptance of that gift, I encourage you to do so by saying this prayer.
David Spoon:And don't go anywhere because I got another one for all of us.
David Spoon:Heavenly Father, I surrender my life.
David Spoon:Lord Jesus Christ, I give you my heart.
David Spoon:Pour out your Holy spirit, for I believe you rose from the dead.
David Spoon:And I confess with my mouth you died for my sins.
David Spoon:According to the scriptures.
David Spoon:You were buried and three days later you rose again.
David Spoon:You ascended to the Father and are coming back soon.
David Spoon:And I thank you for this new life you've given me.
David Spoon:I praise you and pray this in your name.
David Spoon:Amen.
David Spoon:If you prayed that prayer for the first time, you are now a Christian.
David Spoon:Welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.
David Spoon:Thank you for joining us here at KAM 770, the true station here in Texas.
David Spoon:That's Kaaman 770, the truth station here in Texas.
David Spoon:Getting ready for your trivia question.
David Spoon:And there is so many things just so you can know.
David Spoon:I'm praying right now as we're talking about what I'm going to be teaching on.
David Spoon:I kind of know where I'm going, but I think the Lord's going to direct and I'm just excited, but it's going to be one of the most challenging things that you guys have ever heard on this show.
David Spoon:I'm just going to tell you that right now.
David Spoon:I'm just going to be honest about it.
David Spoon:Okay, so first we're going to do our trivia question.
David Spoon:Who pretended to be mad or crazy or insane to avoid capture at the hands of an enemy king who Pretended to be nutty cuckoo.
David Spoon: st Samuel: David Spoon:1st Samuel chapter 21, verse 13.
David Spoon:Who pretended to be mad to avoid capture at the hands of an enemy king.
David Spoon:If you think you know, you can text us because our phones are still down.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: That's: David Spoon: time because people need that: David Spoon:If you think you know, you can reach out to us.
David Spoon:In the meantime, I'm going to send you to the website because I haven't done that once today.
David Spoon:I've just been rambling on for an hour straight.
David Spoon:Here we go.
David Spoon:I'm going to send you to the website and make it super clear.
David Spoon:We need money.
David Spoon:I can't make that any clearer.
David Spoon:Right?
David Spoon:It's very simple.
David Spoon:Our giving is down, which I kind of expected because of the election and stuff.
David Spoon:But for those that have given, thank you very much.
David Spoon:For those that have given and given, thank you, thank you, thank you.
David Spoon:For those that have not given, I challenge you to encourage you to pray about it and see if the Lord will put it on your heart.
David Spoon:If not, please pray for us because we need the funds to keep going forward and doing the ministry.
David Spoon: Deuteronomy: David Spoon:Give generously to the needy and do not let your heart be grieved when you do so.
David Spoon:And because of this, the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything to which you put your hands.
David Spoon:Just make sure you do it unto the Lord.
David Spoon:That's the biggest key there is.
David Spoon:When you give, give it unto God.
David Spoon:Okay, that's.
David Spoon:I'm just telling you right now, that's the spirit to which you give with.
David Spoon:Okay, check it out on the website.
David Spoon:He must increase.org prayer request.
David Spoon:He must increase.org praise report looking to give to this ministry.
David Spoon:He must increase.org confused by what's happening right now.
David Spoon:He must increase.org he must increase.org you.
Narrator:Can'T have a pie without Cool Whip.
Narrator:Cool Whip.
David Spoon:Cool Whip.
David Spoon:Yeah.
Narrator:You mean Cool Whip.
David Spoon:Yeah.
Narrator:Cool Whip.
Narrator:Cool Whip.
Narrator:Cool Whip.
Narrator:Cool Whip.
Narrator:Cool Whip.
David Spoon:You're saying it weird.
Narrator:Why are you putting so much emphasis on the H?
David Spoon:What are you talking about?
Narrator:I'm just saying it.
Narrator:Cool Whip.
David Spoon:I'm sorry.
David Spoon:I know nobody else finds that as Funny as I do.
David Spoon:I understand that.
David Spoon:I do.
David Spoon:I really do.
David Spoon:But it doesn't matter because it makes me laugh.
David Spoon:Just so funny.
David Spoon:Cool Whip.
David Spoon:That's what we say to each other when Noel and I do.
David Spoon:Oh, you want some Cool Whip?
David Spoon:Yeah.
David Spoon:What's a Cool Whip?
David Spoon:Hey, why are you saying it weird?
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:Anyway, your trivia question.
David Spoon:Sorry, I just get caught up in those things.
David Spoon:And I'm warning you right now, what you're about to hear is going to be.
David Spoon:I'm just telling you.
David Spoon:Okay?
David Spoon:I've already said, who pretended to be mad to avoid capture at the hands of an enemy king?
David Spoon:Who was that first?
David Spoon: Samuel,: David Spoon:Okay, very important now.
David Spoon:You guys ready?
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:I'm gonna do it.
David Spoon:This might not be the favorite for many people, and some people might be wondering, well, what happens if your show ever gets a little not political, but a little more like that?
David Spoon:I'm gonna kind of do that right now.
David Spoon:Here we go.
David Spoon:There are, from what I can identify, and I'm sure there's more.
David Spoon:So let me say that ahead of time.
David Spoon:This is not the comprehensive list by any means, but from my perspective, there are six types of Christians.
David Spoon:Ready?
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:I hope you're ready.
David Spoon:There is the American Christian, the Social Christian, the political Christian, the religious Christian, the situational Christian, and the Biblical Christian.
David Spoon:Do you hear that?
David Spoon:Now, this is primarily focused here in America.
David Spoon:So if I was in another country, I'd add another thing.
David Spoon:But here, here it is.
David Spoon:There's the American Christian.
David Spoon:There is the social Christian, the political Christian, the religious Christian, the situational Christian, and the Biblical Christian.
David Spoon:Only one of these works.
David Spoon:Okay, here's the first key on all things.
David Spoon:Ready?
David Spoon:Who paints the picture?
David Spoon:Let me explain this.
David Spoon:Should a person who is a Baptist.
David Spoon:I have a Baptist background.
David Spoon:And Baptist ordinations and Baptist degrees.
David Spoon:Should a person who is a Baptist define a Pentecostal?
David Spoon:No.
David Spoon:I have a Pentecostal background.
David Spoon:I have Pentecostal ordinations, and I have Pentecostal degrees.
David Spoon:I have both.
David Spoon:And let me explain something to you.
David Spoon:A Baptist should not define a Pentecostal, and a Pentecostal should not define a Baptist.
David Spoon:Though, ironically, more people are baptized than they will admit.
David Spoon:Okay, that's probably much larger than either one group at the same time.
David Spoon:Ready?
David Spoon:Should a Democrat define a Republican or should a Republican define a Democrat?
David Spoon:No.
David Spoon:Whether you like that or not, that's not relevant.
David Spoon:It doesn't matter.
David Spoon:A Democrat should not try to explain what a Republican is because they don't know.
David Spoon:But then a Republican probably should not try and Explain a Democrat, because they don't know either.
David Spoon:Then we get into the crux of the matter.
David Spoon:Should an unbeliever define a believer?
David Spoon:Absolutely not.
David Spoon:A believer can define an unbeliever because they were one.
David Spoon:But an unbeliever can never define a believer.
David Spoon:Now again, there are six.
David Spoon:And you better hold on because some of this you're just gonna.
David Spoon:You're just gonna go.
David Spoon:That's where all this stuff came from.
David Spoon:So listen very closely.
David Spoon:American social, political.
David Spoon:American social, political, religious, situational and biblical.
David Spoon:First, the American Christian.
David Spoon:I think most people can identify this.
David Spoon:I must be a Christian because I was born in America.
David Spoon:Baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet.
David Spoon:And the majority of people are Christians.
David Spoon:Therefore, because I'm an American, I'm a Christian.
David Spoon:Okay?
David Spoon:Wrong.
David Spoon:There is a substantial difference between people that are nation oriented and Christ oriented.
David Spoon:And why that's important for people to understand is the difference is substantial when people are geared towards nationalistic attitudes first.
David Spoon:And let me make an explanation on this.
David Spoon:Anybody, anybody who is nationalistic first over a kingdom is doing it wrong.
David Spoon:Christian nationalism by itself puts the nation ahead of the kingdom of God.
David Spoon:That's wrong.
David Spoon:It's not that you can't participate as a Christian.
David Spoon:Nobody said that.
David Spoon:It's just talking about the priority of the Christian.
David Spoon:A Christian has the kingdom of God first.
David Spoon:And the kingdom of God is where God is king, not man.
David Spoon:And so some people don't like that.
David Spoon:But I'm an American, so I have to be a Christian.
David Spoon:And you already know that's absurd.
David Spoon:Just because you're born into a Christian family doesn't make you a Christian.
David Spoon:Just because you're born into America doesn't make you a Christian.
David Spoon:It's just stupid.
David Spoon:You have to make a decision to follow Jesus Christ.
David Spoon:And Jesus becomes your Lord and Savior.
David Spoon:He saves you, but he then becomes your Lord in every area of your life.
David Spoon:An American Christian thinks it's all based on the nation and the promotion of the nation.
David Spoon:That does not have anything to do with.
David Spoon:We need to take care of America first before we can help other people.
David Spoon:That's simply an illustration.
David Spoon:And the reason I think that's appropriate is when you're on an airplane and there's a decompression moment, which I think Eric could speak to more than anything.
David Spoon:The bottom line is the masks drop.
David Spoon:And what do they say?
David Spoon:Parents, put the mask on yourself first and then you put it on your child so that your child can be well.
David Spoon:That's all.
David Spoon:That's what I think that, you know, taking care of Our home base.
David Spoon:That's simply that.
David Spoon:I don't see anything with that whatsoever.
David Spoon:But just because you're an American doesn't make you an auto Christian.
David Spoon:Here's the one people are going to freak out on.
David Spoon:Social Christian.
David Spoon:What is that?
David Spoon:It comes from liberation theology.
David Spoon:I wrote a whole paper on this.
David Spoon: It was developed in the: David Spoon:The primary goal of the liberation theology or social Christian is the reference of society to reform it in the direction of social and financial equality for all.
David Spoon:It is a mild form of socialism for the salvation and the continuance of humanity.
David Spoon:Listen to what I'm going to say.
David Spoon:It's super important.
David Spoon:If you listen to this, you'll get 50% of what you see on the news.
David Spoon:The core tenet of this ideology is the elimination of material poverty takes precedent over spiritual needs.
David Spoon:That's Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson all day long.
David Spoon:Sorry, they subscribe to it.
David Spoon:Not my fault.
David Spoon:The core tenet of this ideology is the elimination of material poverty.
David Spoon:That takes precedent over spiritual needs.
David Spoon:The social Christian's mentality is that the gospel does not emphasize Romans 1:16.
David Spoon:I'm not ashamed of the gospel, but it emphasizes a chicken in every pot, a cell phone in every hand and a high definition television in every home and the spreading of this gospel.
David Spoon:And keep this in mind from Galatians 1:8.
David Spoon:Even if we are an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we've preached to you.
David Spoon:This is a false gospel.
David Spoon:And forget about the reality that they forget John 12:8.
David Spoon:The poor you will always have with you.
David Spoon:Jesus said, just toss that out.
David Spoon:Because they say no, it doesn't apply.
David Spoon:And so it is important for everybody to grasp that form of Christianity is not real.
David Spoon:It is fake.
David Spoon:It is man oriented.
David Spoon:It's been around for about 60, 70, about 65 years, maybe 70ish.
David Spoon:It's Christianity without Jesus in this thinking.
David Spoon:It's all about human equality and it's nothing about eternity.
David Spoon:That is the social Christian.
David Spoon:The third Christian is the political Christian.
David Spoon:A person who claims faith or an Indian heritage for political expediency.
David Spoon:Here's what we can count on.
David Spoon:If these people in the political realm are talking about faith for their political expediency, they're lying.
David Spoon:Okay?
David Spoon:That's not what your faith is about.
David Spoon:So what we have is the American Christian not so realistic.
David Spoon:The social Christian super bad.
David Spoon:The political Christian super wishy washy.
David Spoon:The fourth one is the religious Christian.
David Spoon:This is a person that says, I go to church or temple and I go twice a year because I Have to.
David Spoon:But God is sure lucky to have me.
David Spoon:That person's not a Christian.
David Spoon:That has more to do with churchianity than Christianity.
David Spoon:That's rules, regulations and traditions.
David Spoon:All things which are then placed higher than God himself.
David Spoon:The rules, the regulations and the traditions are more important than God himself.
David Spoon:That's a religious Christian.
David Spoon:It's like, yeah, not working.
David Spoon:Situational Christian.
David Spoon:What do you mean, Dave?
David Spoon:Only when it suits the person and doesn't interfere with their plans.
David Spoon:This is a much larger group than people think.
David Spoon:It's the fire insurance Christians.
David Spoon:Well, I'm going to say yes.
David Spoon:I'm not going to live for Jesus, but I'm going to say yes because I don't want to go to hell.
David Spoon:It's fake.
David Spoon:It's situational.
David Spoon:When they're facing death only because they just don't want to get burned.
David Spoon:And then there's the biblical Christian using the Bible as the source of authority in establishing a relationship with God.
David Spoon:The fact that God created the universe and the dude can write a book.
David Spoon:People that are Christians think they're Christians because they're an American or they're social Christianity or religious with their rules or their situational or their politicals, which are probably equally as disgusting as social.
David Spoon:It's all rubbish.
David Spoon:People that know Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, the teachings of Jesus Christ.
David Spoon:You know, it's so funny.
David Spoon:Webster defined a Christian as one who follows the teachings of Christ.
David Spoon:That was the original definition for Webster, who, by the way, wrote a Bible version.
David Spoon:But the point in that is simply people are so far away from that.
David Spoon:You know about Jesus Christ because of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
David Spoon:And that gospel has been permeated for 2,000 years.
David Spoon:And you are a Christian because of that gospel.
David Spoon:That is the core source.
David Spoon:So people who think, wow, I'm a Christian because I want to eliminate poverty have never read the Gospel.
David Spoon:It's not that getting rid of poverty is a bad thing, but Jesus said, the poor you will always have with you.
David Spoon:But these are the same people that won't emphasize eternity.
David Spoon:Why?
David Spoon:Because they're not even close to what Jesus is talking about.
David Spoon:Who said in the Sermon on the Mount, lay up treasures for yourself in heaven.
David Spoon:It's just like, what?
David Spoon:You guys even read this?
David Spoon:No, they don't.
David Spoon:Political Christians.
David Spoon:Give me a break.
David Spoon:They're never a Christian in any other thing unless they're running a campaign.
David Spoon:So absurd.
David Spoon:And I do think there's going to be serious judgment there.
David Spoon:I don't want to be a part of it.
David Spoon:And I think there's an assumption that people are Christians because they must be a Christian because they, you know, they like baseball.
David Spoon:I mean, come on, that's more of a nationalistic thing than anything, right?
David Spoon:And then the situational ones.
David Spoon:What about the situational ones?
David Spoon:It's like, you know, I'm only going to be a Christian when I need to be.
David Spoon:That's not how it works.
David Spoon:You see, you're supposed to lose your life for the sake of Jesus and the gospel, specifically what it says in Mark, chapter eight.
David Spoon:And then the religious Christian, that's the bizarre one, because they think they're doing it right, because they're following rules.
David Spoon:Hey, typically when you play sports, you gotta follow rules.
David Spoon:Doesn't always make you a professional athlete.
David Spoon:I'm trying to make it clear that those are not the core.
David Spoon:Now, could there be Christians amongst those groups?
David Spoon:Of course.
David Spoon:There's always Christian, genuine Christians amongst those groups who don't follow all those tenets to the letter and actually have a relationship, but they're fewer and farther between.
David Spoon:And you say, well, why do you say that, Dave?
David Spoon:Because the scripture says in revelation from every tribe of every group of every nation.
David Spoon:So, yeah, there's people that God has there, of course, but the reality check is between an American Christian, a social Christian, a political Christian, a religious Christian, and a situational Christian.
David Spoon:Only the biblical Christian records.
David Spoon:Only the biblical Christian is on target.
David Spoon:Then you might be thinking, okay, well, then what do we need to do as biblical Christians?
David Spoon:Do we need to preach a better gospel?
David Spoon:No, the gospel is awesome as it is.
David Spoon:We just need to preach the gospel more.
David Spoon:We do need to do a better job of declaring the right picture of the Father.
David Spoon:He's not a sheriff, an old man in a rocking chair, or he's not a gaseous something on the planet Pluto.
David Spoon:We need to do a better job of declaring it.
David Spoon:We need to do a better job of sharing it, a better eternity.
David Spoon:1 Corinthians 2, 9 makes it clear our eternity is going to be phenomenal and we need to do a better job of carrying it.
David Spoon:In other words, what we need to do is a better job of declaring, sharing and caring, caring more about others than ourselves, a little less selfish and a little more selfless and maybe a tad bit less jerky.
David Spoon:That too would be good too.
David Spoon:But the point I'm trying to make is simply this.
David Spoon:These six type of Christians, and they don't.
David Spoon:And yes, I understand, but you shouldn't really call them Christians.
David Spoon:Well, I can't say every person in that group's not.
David Spoon:So I want to Be careful.
David Spoon:And that's not my job, but to put yourself up on those lines and look at an American Christian, a social Christian, a political Christian, a religious Christian, a situational Christian, and a biblical Christian.
David Spoon:I got a message for you.
David Spoon:You better be a biblical Christian.
David Spoon:That's my message.
David Spoon:And I have no reservation telling you that.
David Spoon:Because without it, you got problems.
David Spoon:You need to know Jesus, not know of Jesus.
David Spoon:And when those people in the media and in Hollywood and in academia and in the different realms tell you and they speak to you in these ways and they say, what do you represent?
David Spoon:God.
David Spoon:Exactly.
David Spoon:You're, in fact, by the word of God, declared to be an ambassador of Christ.
David Spoon:Yes, I speak for God.
David Spoon:Isn't that amazing?
David Spoon:They think that's bad.
David Spoon:Wow.
David Spoon:Biblical Christian.
David Spoon:And as biblical Christians, we need to do a better job of declaring, sharing and caring.
David Spoon:That's what you got to do.
David Spoon:Are biblical Christians perfect?
David Spoon:See, that's the great thing about the Bible.
David Spoon:No, we are forgiven by the redeeming work of Jesus Christ.
David Spoon:Our sins have been covered by our faith and the testimony that God has given through his love, that's given by grace, that's received by faith.
David Spoon:And if they read their Bible, they would know that.
David Spoon:So I got to confess one of my sins that I have sometimes if I watch something on the news, I say this.
David Spoon:This is really mean, but.
David Spoon:And it's because I seek to be a biblical Christian.
David Spoon:I always say, I say it out loud sometimes.
David Spoon:So you have to forgive me, and I have to ask for forgiveness.
David Spoon:I say, you know, if Jesus came up to you and spit in your eye to heal you, you wouldn't know him.
David Spoon:And then in my mind, they're thinking, Jesus went and spit in somebody's eye, which is exactly what he did in Mark.
David Spoon:Spit in somebody's eye to heal them.
David Spoon:So I'm just saying.
David Spoon:I say that because it's like they're not even close.
David Spoon:You want to be a biblical Christian, The Bible is your base.
David Spoon:Does that mean that the Lord won't speak to you in circumstances?
David Spoon:No, of course he will.
David Spoon:He'll speak to you in multiple ways.
David Spoon:But the Bible is your plumb life.
David Spoon:So out of those six, Christians.
David Spoon:Choose wisely, grasshopper.
David Spoon:Because you can't be a social Christian and think that spiritual and eternity means nothing.
David Spoon:That's just unacceptable.
David Spoon:That's why that's false.
David Spoon:Period.
David Spoon:And if people think that's racist, then I would say they're anti Semitic.
David Spoon:Nah, I wouldn't say that.
David Spoon:I just say they're wrong.
David Spoon:That was funny, though.
David Spoon:Right.
David Spoon:You're a racist, you're anti Semitic.
David Spoon:See, that's my response.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Anyway, let's go back to the trivia question.
David Spoon:I knew that was going to be different for a lot of you, but I just wanted to get it out there and I waited till after.
David Spoon:On purpose, by the way, the election, to share that.
David Spoon:I just want to make sure you understood where it's coming from.
David Spoon:So when you see somebody on TV and they claim to be a Christian, you can easily categorize, put a category in them for them to know which of those six they are.
David Spoon:It'll make a lot of sense at that point.
David Spoon:Okay, all right.
David Spoon:Who pretended to be mad to avoid capture at the hands of an enemy king?
David Spoon:Who presented who drool running down his face, scratching the post?
David Spoon:That was David before he was King.
David Spoon:David did that because he didn't want to get in trouble, so he faked it.
David Spoon:I always find it fascinating that God never said anything about that, but he faked it and then got out of the situation.
David Spoon:Sometimes you do what the Lord sets before you.
David Spoon:Okay, all right.
David Spoon:So on that Christian teaching, if it doesn't help you, then just get rid of it.
David Spoon:But if it helps you, it's supposed to help you draw closer to God through his word.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:All right, great.
David Spoon:All right, folks, you have been listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on KAM 770, the true station here in Texas, taking a 72 and 1 half hour break.
David Spoon:Then we'll come back, more insanity with Spoonanity.
David Spoon:Talk to you then.
Narrator:Who knows when a broken heart will end?
Narrator:Broken hearts don't die.
Narrator:They just grow.
Narrator:Just when I think I reach.
Jamin Jacob:The.
David Spoon:Views expressed on the preceding program were those of the speakers and not necessarily those of kaam, DJRD Broadcasting or its sponsors.
