Leif:

What I'm saying is, if it wasn't the limo, he might have gone for it.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: I mean, again, Chuck is shocked. Does whatever

Leif:

Chuck wants with it.

Leif:

Hey up, residers. And all you scandal loving listeners out

Leif:

there, you just tuned into the non judging breakfast

Leif:

pod where the coffee is strong, the waffles

Leif:

are fresh, and the gossip is hotter than ever.

Leif:

My name is Leif, and I'm your seasoned gossip girl

Leif:

veteran.

Steve:

And I'm Steve the newbie, the greenhorn,

Steve:

the, I don't know, Leif. What do you call the fresh meat in gossip girl

Steve:

terms?

Steve:

I don't know.

Leif:

Let's get you some bacardi and see what happens.

Steve:

Hey. All right, well, I'm ready to start a fashion show at this point,

Steve:

I feel.

Leif:

Sounds good.

Steve:

So here's the deal, folks. Leif has been watching Gossip girl

Steve:

since it first aired, and I'm diving in for the very first

Steve:

time. And together, we're your dynamic duo, bringing you

Steve:

all the glamour, romance, and

Steve:

sometimes questionable fashion choices of this

Steve:

iconic 2007 series.

Leif:

That's right. Each week we're going to take a deep dive into the

Leif:

show one episode at a time. We're going to be looking

Leif:

at all the obscure references,

Leif:

parallels, and sometimes the couture

Leif:

catastrophes. We're also going to take a look at the

Leif:

Phantom stories and some behind the scenes gossip along the

Leif:

way.

Steve:

And since we're all about inclusivity here at the non judging

Steve:

breakfast pod, there's always a seat for you at the non judging

Steve:

breakfast table. So go ahead and grab your mimosa,

Steve:

your cup of coffee, or some of Chuck and Nate

Steve:

special medicine, and let's go ahead and get this

Steve:

started.

Leif:

Okay, Steve, once again, we are not

Leif:

alone. We got another guest with us.

Steve:

Yes, please welcome. This week we have with us John

Steve:

Paul from the last roundup horror

Steve:

pod horror show podcast

Steve:

and the WTF did I just watch?

Steve:

Podcast. welcome, Jean Paul.

Leif:

Thanks for joining us.

Steve:

Thank you very much for joining us.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Hey, thanks for having me.

Leif:

Absolutely.

Steve:

So being on the show with us, could you

Steve:

give us a little bit of your history with

Steve:

Gossip Girl? Because I know you said you and your wife watched,

Steve:

I believe, during the pandemic. Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: So, yeah, that was my only, like,

Steve:

my introduction, like, during the pandemic, you know, we were all

Steve:

locked up, looking for stuff to watch, looking for stuff to

Steve:

do. And my wife

Steve:

knows that one of my biggest

Steve:

weakness in life is teen

Steve:

melodramas. And I don't know

Steve:

how Gossip girl missed me

Steve:

because, you know, I grew up with,

Steve:

you know, like, I don't know, das

Steve:

freak, you know, a lot of the CW

Steve:

WP shows.

Leif:

Yeah, yeah. And, yeah, I was the same way.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: And I like this just Fitzhen perfectly. And she's

Leif:

like, what do you think? You've never watched Gossip Girl? And I'm like,

Leif:

well, I've heard of it, you know? Cause I also used to watch

Leif:

one Tree hill and all of those kind of shows. Even 7th

Leif:

heaven. Like I said, I was one of those kids that.

Leif:

Yeah, I was left out, on, the fantasy of

Leif:

fake romance on tv.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: I'm like, yeah, I have a crush on that girl because, you know,

Leif:

she was x person.

Leif:

Just as a reminder, Steve has not seen past this

Leif:

episode. no spoilers.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Oh, no, I won't. I won't spoil anything,

Leif:

but, yeah.

Leif:

So you have a, favorite or least

Leif:

favorite character or both.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Oh, gosh. On Gossip Girl

Leif:

with the least favorite character,

Leif:

I mean, right from the back, you're supposed to

Leif:

hate, you know, the bass man, I

Leif:

guess.

Leif:

Yeah, he is a bass

Leif:

man.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Yeah. But the problem is,

Leif:

as the show.

Leif:

Progresses, I had to enjoy

Leif:

trying to force you to like them.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: exactly. So it's like they

Leif:

succeeded.

Leif:

and is that your favorite character, then?

Leif:

Jean-Paul: No, that's. That's still kind of my least favorite.

Leif:

Favorite.

Leif:

It's nothing wrong with that. A lot of it is. A lot of people's favorite characters.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: I know, I know. But favorite. It

Leif:

really is a toss up between

Leif:

Blair and good old Humphrey

Leif:

Dan.

Leif:

Good choices. Good choices.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Only because, I mean,

Leif:

I have. I mean, again, after watching

Leif:

Gossip Girl and that show you came out on

Leif:

Netflix, which originally was on lifetime.

Leif:

That's. Again, I know team bell drama, so I know stuff like

Leif:

that. I was just like, oh, my gosh,

Leif:

Gossip Girl is almost like a prequel story to the show.

Leif:

You maybe in my head canon. That is what

Leif:

I'd say. And I'm going to go with it because

Leif:

I've heard that a lot of.

Leif:

People have said that it just fits perfectly,

Leif:

so.

Steve:

Yeah, I haven't watched you for that reason, because

Steve:

I want to watch you with that headcanon.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Well, then definitely wait until you get done, with this show,

Steve:

because, yeah.

Leif:

It'Ll give you a nice couple years.

Steve:

Yeah, I've got a couple years, but. But, you know, you

Steve:

won't go anywhere.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: I mean, I think it ends this year, but you'll

Steve:

have all of them on Netflix forever.

Leif:

Yep.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: so, yeah, I don't know. Serena is another,

Leif:

like. But they make you lover. That's the thing.

Leif:

So.

Leif:

So that's why they make me hate Serena.

Leif:

Well, or Serena makes me hate Serena.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Yeah, exactly. But Blair, I don't know. There's just

Leif:

something about her, and the actress that plays

Leif:

her is just entertaining with her, like, quirkiness.

Leif:

So, yeah, Blair is probably my favorite.

Leif:

and there are episodes a lot about her acting.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Yeah, there are episodes where I'm just like, hate you

Leif:

in this episode, but.

Steve:

That'S what a good character does.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Exactly.

Steve:

A good character. You should not like them all the

Steve:

time, and you shouldn't like all the decisions they make,

Steve:

because then what's to like about them? You

Steve:

know? I, I think that I'm at a point now with

Steve:

Gossip Girl where Dan has turned from being

Steve:

my favorite character, and

Steve:

I've grown to like him less. But a

Steve:

lot of that's because he's making

Steve:

decisions that I think are shitty, which are really great

Steve:

character decisions, despite how shitty

Steve:

yeah, they are.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: I did not agree with you more on that.

Leif:

Yeah, I think Jenny is actually my favorite

Leif:

character. I think mine and I always root for

Leif:

Jenny to win. Okay.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

it's kind of a mixed bag.

Steve:

Oh. The only time

Steve:

I've ever really been upset with Jenny was when

Steve:

she fucked with Eric, you know, when she was

Steve:

shitty to Eric like that. Like,

Steve:

no way off, my boy.

Leif:

So we are here to talk about season two,

Leif:

episode nine, there might be

Leif:

blood. This originally aired

Leif:

on November 3, 2008, and

Leif:

the title was based on the. Of course, the movie there will

Leif:

be blood. The, 2007 Paul Thomas

Leif:

Anderson, Daniel Day Lewis, all that.

Steve:

That's the name I was trying to remember. I

Steve:

remember seeing that. I mean, it got such

Steve:

rave reviews.

Leif:

It was well shot.

Steve:

It was great.

Leif:

The acting was amazing. It was boring movie.

Steve:

Boring.

Leif:

See, nothing really happened. Nothing happened.

Steve:

I've been afraid to say that for 20 years because,

Steve:

see, I agree.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: With m you saying that nothing happens but the end,

Steve:

that kind of the way it

Steve:

ends, where it's just kind.

Leif:

Of like, you got a miserable

Leif:

bastard.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: You'Re just a mislead, and you got screwed no matter

Leif:

what.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: That's really what got me. That's what. What made me say,

Leif:

wow, Daniel Day Lewis,

Leif:

you definitely are one of the best actors around.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

Oh, yeah. It's marvelously acted by him and

Leif:

Paul.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Dare they?

Steve:

Yeah. Yeah. I feel like they could have

Steve:

taken an hour out of that movie and moved

Steve:

it along a little bit better. And I always felt like it was too

Steve:

long to not have stuff to

Steve:

be that slow.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: That's Paul. That's Paul Thomas Anderson. As a director, though, he

Steve:

loves just long run times. And you know, it's

Steve:

him. Tarantino and Gorzez. I

Steve:

mean, again, they're wonderful directors and

Steve:

everything, and they make good movies, but sometimes it's like,

Steve:

learn how to edit your movie,

Steve:

please.

Steve:

Yeah. Yeah.

Leif:

I didn't even really mind that. I just like to see some.

Leif:

Some character development.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: All right, this.

Steve:

Didn't this come out around the time of old country

Steve:

for no men? Two.

Leif:

A, couple years after.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Yeah, it was a year after. A couple years after. Yeah.

Steve:

I just remember kind of. They kind of occupy some of the

Steve:

same space in my brain of. I remember

Steve:

old country for no men, being like, this is.

Steve:

This is good, but I. But it's slow,

Steve:

like, that same kind of feel to it.

Leif:

Well, I thought that was much m better, pace,

Leif:

but it was ruined by the ending.

Steve:

Maybe that's what I'm thinking. I haven't seen either of those

Steve:

movies since they hit DB.

Leif:

Well, the ending was that he wake is all a dream.

Leif:

he wakes up, and it's all a dream.

Steve:

That's stupid. Spoiler alert.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Spoiler alert.

Leif:

Too bad, you've had 20 years to watch

Leif:

that and even longer

Leif:

to read the book.

Leif:

Television without pity. Jacob recaps the

Leif:

episode. Blair spends the

Leif:

entire episode chasing a young, crazy girl

Leif:

around the Upper east side after Serena offers

Leif:

her services as babysitter to order another

Leif:

Yale connection, young Emma is determined

Leif:

to lose her epitomous virginity.

Leif:

Ew. Before her friend Muffy.

Leif:

Yeah. And takes the combined

Leif:

forces of an errand distracted Serena and

Leif:

a chivalrous chuck to keep her in the

Leif:

Trina, Agnes.

Steve:

And Jenny plan a guerrilla

Steve:

fashion show at a charity ball, which turns

Steve:

out to be honoring Bart and Lily.

Steve:

Rufus goes completely crazy and tries to have

Steve:

little J arrested for the stunt, but Lily

Steve:

steps in because it was awesome. And then

Steve:

Rufus cries the tears of a slightly

Steve:

involved, very shitty parent.

Steve:

Jenny runs off through the streets of Brooklyn with only

Steve:

her sewing machine and about 40 pounds of

Steve:

eyeshadow. Homeless Cinderella Jenny is

Steve:

even cooler than regular Jenny, which is only

Steve:

slightly cooler than the totally awesome, insane

Steve:

Agnes.

Leif:

Rufus somewhat redeems himself by lecturing

Leif:

Dan about how not everyone is a wunderkin,

Leif:

but Dan is so jealous of the attention little J

Leif:

is getting that he ends up writing the Charlie trout story

Leif:

after all, selling his soul and signing

Leif:

one more page of the massive death warrant he

Leif:

keeps begging Jeff to put on him.

Leif:

Speaking of slight, speaking of slightly

Leif:

douchey artist Serena has loved,

Leif:

she spends the entire time obsessing

Leif:

over Aaron, who is bigger, who's a bigger whore than Nate

Leif:

Archibald ever was. Serena,

Leif:

having never worked for anything in her

Leif:

entire life. Loves the idea of actually

Leif:

dating someone with as much Serena

Leif:

power as she herself has. Although I

Leif:

believe that the. Much like Chuck Aaron's

Leif:

grodyness power is contained in his giant

Leif:

stupid scars.

Steve:

After spotting Nate and Jenny kissing on Gossip

Steve:

Girl, snapped by Lil Serena from

Steve:

attack of the clones in Central Park, Dan

Steve:

makes it very clear that Nate's history of

Steve:

prostitution is not cool and

Steve:

tosses him out of the Humphrey house on his ass.

Steve:

Nice to have d bag dan back after

Steve:

last week. And even nicer to see him slipping down

Steve:

that slippery ethical slope so quickly.

Steve:

Chuck comes running to save Nate, of

Steve:

course, and realizes how out of control

Steve:

things have gotten. But Nate's pride

Steve:

keeps him from giving in to Chuck's tender

Steve:

ministrations, and he runs off to the

Steve:

Hampsons to sit out what would seem

Steve:

to be the most omfg

Steve:

episode of all time next week.

Steve:

Meanwhile, Vanessa flips out after seeing

Steve:

Nate and Jenny kissing in real life and

Steve:

hopefully jumps off a roof. Their words, not

Steve:

mine.

Leif:

John Paul, you were. You say you watched a lot of

Leif:

tea dramas. Did you ever frequent, television

Leif:

without pity?

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Oh, man, not

Leif:

really.

Steve:

Yeah. we always like to get the. Was this the playlist

Steve:

again? Was this back to the. I know you were telling me

Steve:

about it before, but I only kind of. This is a good one.

Steve:

Again, we.

Leif:

Oh, yeah. So, yeah, we've, They stopped using,

Leif:

like, we were doing that one that they would do, like a short

Leif:

one in the thread, in the episode thread. But then

Leif:

that stopped for whatever reason. I guess that guy stopped watching it at

Leif:

the end of season or the last one he did was the season two

Leif:

premiere.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

And then. So we decided to go back to the

Leif:

full one. That, Jake was actually pretty famous.

Leif:

Like, you think he actually still now is like an, ah,

Leif:

entertainment writer.

Steve:

Oh, good.

Leif:

Like, he worked most of the. Most of the staff

Leif:

writers from Telly went on to become,

Leif:

like, magazine writers.

Steve:

Oh, that's awesome.

Leif:

Yeah, of course, that's back to writing online

Leif:

now.

Leif:

So this episode, speaking of writing, it was written

Leif:

by Eitan Fields. This is

Leif:

the first of two episodes that he did, but any co

Leif:

wrote it with John Stevens and that this is his second

Leif:

episode. He also wrote the Dark Knight earlier this

Leif:

season.

Steve:

Oh, okay.

Leif:

And then it was directed by Michael Fields,

Leif:

who's back. He did roman holiday,

Leif:

desperately seeking Serena and never been

Leif:

Marcus. Roman holiday was good episode. The other

Leif:

two, not so much. Yeah, not necessarily

Leif:

fault of the direct.

Steve:

Ah, no, no, not at all. Especially def.

Steve:

Yeah, both of those were in that

Steve:

phase. In that, post writers strike.

Steve:

Pre pre getting to

Steve:

where they are. Reboot. Yeah.

Leif:

So let's go ahead and get into act

Leif:

one. Spotted at

Leif:

mood. Jenny Humphrey, 16 yards

Leif:

of tool. But since when does Eleanor

Leif:

Waldorf pay for her purchases with a penny jar?

Leif:

They say stitch in time saves nine.

Leif:

Will it save little

Leif:

JDev? Pretty good

Leif:

one.

Steve:

Yeah. Yeah.

Leif:

Jenny and Agnes are preparing for a fashion show

Leif:

and talking about Nate freezing Jenny out since

Leif:

last week. So, yeah, this is

Leif:

an, opening scene. You got Jenny and Agnes, you know,

Leif:

rushing around the loft, getting ready and talking

Leif:

about how Nate's been blowing Jenny off.

Steve:

Yeah. Which, you know, I can see how that

Steve:

would be upsetting to Jenny.

Leif:

Yeah.

Steve:

But also, I can understand Nate.

Leif:

You see what happens once everyone finds out, so. Yeah,

Leif:

it's definitely understandable.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

Nate and Dan are discussing Jenny, and

Leif:

Nate is being evasive when Dan gets a call from

Leif:

Jordan. Dan is all up in his own, head

Leif:

again. Although once again, we find out he was right

Leif:

to be up inside of this time.

Steve:

Yeah. Yeah, he was. And

Steve:

also, what he's like, it's good to be

Steve:

Nate because he doesn't remember this woman

Steve:

that he was, like, making out with

Steve:

a couple weeks ago at, Yale

Steve:

again.

Leif:

So I got on Aaron last

Leif:

week for, like, tolerating

Leif:

shitty behavior to people he doesn't care about.

Leif:

Just being selective about shitty behavior.

Leif:

Yeah, and I got called dad out for kind of the

Leif:

same thing here because he was fine with

Leif:

Napiane, the sleazeball with his

Leif:

ta, but once it's a sister, it's a different story.

Steve:

Yeah. Yeah, exactly. Yeah,

Steve:

you're right on that.

Leif:

Serena and Blair are meeting with a friend of Dean

Leif:

Barabe's. Serena volunteers Blair to babysit

Leif:

the woman's daughter. No way this could possibly go wrong.

Steve:

Yeah. Your thoughts, John Paul?

Leif:

So, yeah, feel free to jump

Leif:

in at any time.

Steve:

Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Well, I'll just go back to the whole. The beginning

Steve:

with Jenny and everything and heard,

Steve:

like, she's very neurotic in this episode.

Steve:

Like, and I don't know if it's, like, it's the

Steve:

stress of her trying to get

Steve:

this, guerrilla Sasha show going or what it

Steve:

was, but,

Leif:

Even I think it's a combination of the. Yeah, it's that

Leif:

and also stressy about what's Nate thinking?

Leif:

Jean-Paul: What's nate thinking? Yeah.

Leif:

Wait a minute.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Yeah, and. And even, like. Like I said,

Leif:

I don't know. I don't want to jump ahead and

Leif:

rate this yet, but, the.

Leif:

The interactions, at the beginning of Jenny and

Leif:

Nate kind of really just. It

Leif:

seemed kind of off to me compared to the previous

Leif:

episode.

Steve:

Yeah. Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: So I guess, yeah. Maybe it does give you that feel of,

Steve:

like, you know, something happens, so they're kind of avoiding

Steve:

each other because something happened, you know, got a

Steve:

cliche. I mean, this

Steve:

storyline, like I said, because I know teen

Steve:

melodramas is very similar in a bunch

Steve:

of other shows where, you know,

Steve:

the sibling has now made

Steve:

out with the other sibling's friend and those

Steve:

kind of things, and, like, the. The weird

Steve:

entrapment of what's going to happen next.

Steve:

The execution is not as well

Steve:

as I've seen it in other shows in this

Steve:

episode and for the show,

Steve:

in.

Steve:

My opinion, which kind of happens a lot. Yeah.

Steve:

Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: I mean, I don't want to jump ahead, so I'll wait until you get

Steve:

to brother Barnes in it.

Leif:

No problem. Serena runs into Erin as she's

Leif:

about to look past the fact that he was with another woman

Leif:

last week when yet another woman

Leif:

runs up and kisses him, on the mouth.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: On the mouth.

Steve:

Runs up and kisses him on the mouth.

Steve:

Yeah. Okay. Yeah.

Leif:

I mean, yeah, that happens.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

Yeah. I felt like this episode was very even.

Leif:

I'll get into it more as we get to the grays, but, yeah.

Leif:

Like, the one storyline was really good. I thought this storyline was not

Leif:

as good.

Steve:

Yeah. Yeah.

Leif:

And also, the Blair storyline was not great

Leif:

either.

Steve:

Yeah. And. And it's funny because we talked last

Steve:

week about how. Or maybe it was two

Steve:

weeks ago about how this show will run

Steve:

three plot lines and tie all

Steve:

three plot lines up at the end of the, you, know, they'll run

Steve:

three stories an episode and tie them all

Steve:

up and to varying degrees of

Steve:

success. And really, I feel like

Steve:

the a storyline of Jenny

Steve:

was great. Like you said, the b

Steve:

storyline of Blair, I thought Washington. All right.

Steve:

I thought it. I thought it was a really weird one.

Leif:

Yeah.

Steve:

And then the sea storyline of

Steve:

Serena and Aaron is just like, why are we doing this?

Leif:

Aaron is a real dud of a character.

Steve:

Yeah. Why. Why are we doing this?

Steve:

Can she hand him some coke?

Leif:

Dan and Nate gets back to the loft, and just in time to see

Leif:

Jenny and Agnes leaving to set up the fashion show.

Leif:

Busted.

Steve:

Ah. such a judgey dick, too.

Steve:

He's. Yeah, Dan.

Steve:

Like, I mean.

Leif:

I mean, he's conflicted about the whole thing.

Steve:

I mean, he doesn't really know what she's doing other than

Steve:

just putting all of these outfits together to do a big

Steve:

show. Like, she's not it. To his

Steve:

knowledge, she's not doing anything illegal.

Leif:

Well, I. His issue is that she's just not telling

Leif:

Rufus.

Steve:

Yeah. So don't tell Rufus. Be a big brother

Steve:

for once.

Leif:

he does tell Rufus. Well, after it's like

Leif:

over.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Yeah, but I think he's also at that line of, being

Leif:

a big brother.

Leif:

Yeah. He tells Rufus when

Leif:

Rufus sees them.

Steve:

Leaving, he tells Rufus as soon as he has the

Steve:

opportunity to tell they.

Leif:

Were at Rufus the gallery.

Steve:

I'm saying that Rufus walks in and he's like, I'm afraid she's making a

Steve:

mistake.

Leif:

I don't think he told her then. I don't think he told him that.

Steve:

The next time we see them, they're chasing them down.

Leif:

No, they're just walking up and then they see them, like

Leif:

taking off.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Yeah, because I think he had already. He

Leif:

kisses them all together. when they see him, they were all

Leif:

together. But then he does end up kissing they and that's when

Leif:

they see it, and everything. But, but all. But

Leif:

also, I mean, Dan, Dan is playing

Leif:

that, like middle of the road type rather

Leif:

that you're like, you want to help and support

Leif:

your sister but you also kind of want to be

Leif:

a big brother and like, protect

Leif:

them and also like, be like,

Leif:

well, I'm the big brother, so I'm in charge of you. That kind of

Leif:

thing. yeah,

Leif:

it's that balance.

Leif:

It's a big thing. Yeah. She's already dropped out of school,

Leif:

now she's left her job and it's like,

Leif:

what's going on? Talk to your dad.

Leif:

Basically, that's basically all Dan's saying, I think.

Steve:

Yeah, and, yeah, I I really. Yeah.

Steve:

And we'll get to it in a little bit. But I really think he told

Steve:

Rufus right away. Like, I got the impression he told

Steve:

Rufus immediately.

Leif:

It appears Blair is in for more than

Leif:

Serena bargained for. When little Emma

Leif:

comes, out in the club attire and proclaims,

Leif:

I want Bacardi and a boy and this body is

Leif:

open for business.

Leif:

yeah, just what you want every 13 year old girls.

Steve:

Yeah, that was that storyline

Steve:

of. I. Yeah, go ahead.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: I was a. So, so she. I'm glad you clarified

Steve:

her age because,

Steve:

boy, did I think she was younger.

Leif:

Well, I. She could be younger. I

Leif:

thought. I thought she was at least like middle school.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Yeah, that's what I thought. Like, so, so, middle schools are like twelve years old.

Leif:

And that's why I was just like, it's almost cringe

Leif:

worthy moment she comes out and then she's just

Leif:

like, I've got, you know, a

Leif:

credit card and a fake id, and I'm just like, oh, my gosh.

Leif:

Just. No, no. This is just too

Leif:

cringy. This is too weird.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

Although, fair enough that the show actually finally pointed out

Leif:

fake id. These kids, you know, must have fake

Leif:

ids. Yeah, they'd be going to the bar since they're

Leif:

13.

Steve:

This scene also, we learned that Serena was eight

Steve:

when she met Erin, who is, you know, the

Steve:

possible college graduate now talking to

Steve:

this senior. So I wonder, if she was

Steve:

eight, he may have been as old as, like,

Steve:

twelve. Like, that's

Steve:

just fucking weird.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: That is weird.

Steve:

yeah.

Leif:

Yeah.

Steve:

The other thing I wanted to point out, though, the girl playing

Steve:

Emma, I really liked her. I really liked the

Steve:

acting. I really liked how she played off of

Steve:

stuff like her. Look, when Serena's like, you're gonna have to

Steve:

raid my closet. Like, I thought that she really

Steve:

came across as that, like, little girl. Kind

Steve:

of the excitement, the fan. The

Steve:

little fan girl kind of stuff. I appreciated.

Leif:

Dan gets the full story from Jenny, who

Leif:

puts all her cards on the table and puts her fate

Leif:

in her brother's hands. Dan does the

Leif:

brother thing and gives Jenny the few hours she

Leif:

needs.

Steve:

Yeah. This is also

Steve:

when Vanessa was really judgy about Nate.

Steve:

Right?

Leif:

Like, that's when they're at the gallery.

Steve:

Oh, this is.

Leif:

They're still at the loft here. Oh, okay.

Steve:

Okay.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Yeah, because they're going back and forth, I think, when. With

Steve:

the. With Vanessa, like,

Steve:

figuring out whether she's still,

Steve:

well, appeared yet. Oh, okay.

Leif:

I don't think Vanessa's actually appeared yet.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Okay, so this is before that. Okay.

Steve:

Yeah, this.

Leif:

This is where they're stuck a lot. Like, there's, like, a little break. Like when

Leif:

they, like, Dan sees them leaving and there's, like, there's

Leif:

a break. And then, now we come back and she explains everything.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Okay.

Leif:

And Dan decides to. Dan does let her leave,

Leif:

basically at that point. And then the next

Leif:

scene is Blair is bitching out Serena for getting

Leif:

her into the mms. They also discuss Aaron, and

Leif:

Blair tells Serena to shut that shit down. I agree.

Leif:

Serena and Blair come up with a plan to keep Emma

Leif:

occupied.

Steve:

I jumped ahead. That's why I messed it

Steve:

up.

Leif:

Yeah. So this is where they. They come up with the plan to take her to the.

Leif:

The old people event.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

Oh, I didn't know he'd be the sport.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Yeah, that whole scene was really odd.

Leif:

Again, it just. Just. Cause I don't know,

Leif:

that whole, like, plan to trick

Leif:

a girl to get the flowers by,

Leif:

you know, the, lead.

Steve:

Trying.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: But.

Leif:

Well, they're not. They're not trying to get her to fly. You're trying to just keep

Leif:

her. Well.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

Not gonna get. She's not gonna get the flower.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: No. But. But. But the fact that they said to her, hey.

Leif:

Oh, yeah.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Well, let's go somewhere, you know, better,

Leif:

and instead of just, you know, behind this. This

Leif:

guy's alley, so to speak.

Steve:

Yeah. To promise the 13 year old we're gonna

Steve:

go find you. Sex at the elite.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Yeah.

Steve:

Then is a little weird.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: So weird.

Leif:

Well, I assume

Leif:

what, Emma was thinking was probably, like, a party with,

Leif:

like, the Nate and chucks of the world, right?

Steve:

Exactly.

Leif:

Which she then ends up finding, of course. Yeah.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Yeah.

Leif:

Without any help at the gallery.

Leif:

Actually, one more thing for that scene. And you were talking about her being all

Leif:

excited for the dresses. How is she

Leif:

fitting into these dresses?

Steve:

Oh, yeah. Oh, she is. She

Steve:

is. Arena.

Leif:

These are plus one dresses. I guess they're.

Steve:

They're magic. Plus one dresses, they resize.

Steve:

They automatically resize to your dear build.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: It's magic.

Steve:

It's a Vander Woodson.

Leif:

Yeah. So at the gallery,

Leif:

Dan. So this is what.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Yeah.

Leif:

Here we get the Dan. Vanessa. Here at the gallery,

Leif:

Dan is still weighing his decision not to title on

Leif:

Jenny. Vanessa is advising Dan to give

Leif:

Jenny some more time. They also discuss the Nate

Leif:

situation. Vanessa still clearly has feelings

Leif:

for Nate.

Steve:

Yeah. Fuck you, Vanessa.

Steve:

just every fucking time. Why do you

Steve:

just have to be such a downer?

Leif:

Yeah. Yeah. Giving Dan. Why did she

Leif:

spill the tea to dad about me? Yeah, that was the thing

Leif:

that got a dad the most upset.

Steve:

Yeah. Yeah. And, like, she violated

Steve:

Nate's trust by telling Dan,

Steve:

which. And then. Yeah, like, how would you do

Steve:

that?

Leif:

Like, Chuck and Emma meet in the great room

Leif:

of the Vanderbass penthouse. Chuck blows

Leif:

up Serena and Playa's ruse and picks up

Leif:

Emma.

Steve:

You, ah, just hooked yourself a bat. Oh, yeah.

Leif:

Did you think he was gonna go for it here?

Leif:

Jean-Paul: I.

Steve:

God, I was like, no, I I.

Leif:

Mean, first season Chuck, I think, would have.

Steve:

I think episode one. Chuck would have for

Steve:

sure. I think part. See,

Steve:

I think season one, before

Steve:

Victor Victrola. Yes,

Steve:

I think after Victor. Victor.

Steve:

No, because. Because of Blaire,

Steve:

but also maybe episode season two. Episode

Steve:

two, Chuck.

Leif:

Yeah, there's a spring episode where he's, you

Leif:

know, trying to hook up with multiple prostitutes and failing at it.

Steve:

Yeah, yeah, but.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: But see, that's where I'm gonna have to disagree with

Steve:

you. Only because the.

Steve:

The type of person that, you know, he is,

Steve:

he's a very conniving and, what's

Steve:

today? Tactful person in his own mind.

Steve:

So he knows that a young girl

Steve:

who is, let's let's say she's twelve or

Steve:

13 and he is

Steve:

17, he knows that

Steve:

that's not going to get him

Steve:

anywhere.

Leif:

Yeah, but, yeah, that with, pilot

Leif:

episode where he is 16 and Jenny is 13.

Leif:

One year difference.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: But but again, I'm I don't

Leif:

know. It still.

Leif:

I guess it depends on how old this girl actually is.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Yeah.

Leif:

I think she could pass as 13.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: She get passes.

Leif:

13 is a weird thing to say.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Yeah, 13. But I

Leif:

in my head, again, I still feel like this girl's like,

Leif:

well, you know.

Steve:

Yeah. Which she could.

Leif:

She can. She could ban. She could be anywhere from, like, 1211.

Steve:

I say. I'd say, yeah. I'd say twelve to

Steve:

14. Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: So. So even even you know what

Steve:

ensues 14 because.

Steve:

Yeah. Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: What ensues? What did you know? She she

Steve:

tries to jump him, and he just goes, no, I'm not

Steve:

gonna. So I'm like, okay.

Steve:

And, it goes. It goes like I said, it goes back to his. This character

Steve:

of, like, you hate him and you love them and you hate him and

Steve:

you love them and. Yeah, like,

Steve:

he.

Steve:

And you hate. You hate to love.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Hate to love him. Exactly.

Leif:

Serena receives another licorice ring from

Leif:

Aaron and is immediately interrupted by

Leif:

Blair, who has discovered Emma is missing

Leif:

an old, stale piece of licorice.

Steve:

Yeah. Yeah, that's not.

Leif:

That's that weird that he kept the piece of licorice for, was eight

Leif:

years.

Steve:

Yeah, nine years. Nine years. She says, let's wait another

Steve:

nine years is what she says when she's walking away.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Kind of creepy. Or or that this guy's mo and that's what he

Steve:

did with all the. Yeah, he made a licorice

Steve:

rings.

Steve:

Yeah, he has, he has a. He has, like, a

Steve:

trophy case of licorice rings, each

Steve:

with the name of the of

Steve:

the little girl he married at camp.

Leif:

Yes. When he was a camp counselor.

Steve:

He started when he was six years old and then just

Steve:

kept going every year until he

Steve:

became a counselor. Oh,

Steve:

disgusting. And that's who all these girls are.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Yeah.

Steve:

fan. That's my new fan theory.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: I mean, I'm going to be on board with that

Steve:

because he just is a creep.

Steve:

He, only has come across as creepy to me so

Steve:

far.

Leif:

Chuck is riding in his limo with Emma, who

Leif:

is trying to throw herself at him.

Leif:

Spotted bass taking the bait. Jail

Leif:

bait, that is. Yeah.

Leif:

Yeah, Chuck is, sitting there in the limba, you know?

Steve:

Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: We learn.

Leif:

Later, though, he holds the limo sacred. Jenny,

Leif:

while loading a van to go to the fashion show, is

Leif:

trying to get Nate to admit his feelings. Nate can't

Leif:

seem to verbalize, so just offers to drive.

Leif:

Rufus, Vanessa, and Dan walk up just in time to see

Leif:

the van pull away.

Steve:

So. So this is why I felt so

Steve:

earlier on, Rufus walked in

Steve:

when Dan said, I'm just worried she's making a huge

Steve:

mistake. And Rufus was right there and goes,

Steve:

who? So the next time we see them,

Steve:

it's Dan, Rufus, and Vanessa

Steve:

all walking up together to where Jenny

Steve:

was. I assumed then Dan is a

Steve:

snitch, that Dan was, like, the way they.

Leif:

Were walking, though, they're just so casually walking.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Yeah, I would agree. They were very

Leif:

much casually walking until

Leif:

they saw the van pulling away. But

Leif:

before that, there was the kiss, right?

Leif:

Yeah, if I remember.

Steve:

No, the kiss has not happened.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Oh, I'm sorry. You're like, the kiss has not happened, but there's

Steve:

that weird closeness, and then there

Steve:

is then Nate.

Leif:

Well, also, they're. They're seeing their. The, 15 year

Leif:

old daughter getting into a strange van.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Right, right.

Leif:

Well, which is always concerning my.

Steve:

My thought on this van.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Right? If I.

Steve:

Right, yeah. Nate's driving. Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: So there is one of my,

Steve:

And kind of where I lead to this is that even if

Steve:

Dan, when Rufus came in, didn't say,

Steve:

hey, Jenny's doing this

Steve:

thing, he did know

Steve:

where Jenny was parked and did

Steve:

at least lead Rufus right to it.

Steve:

Like, I feel like Dan

Steve:

led Rufus to her. Whether he came

Steve:

out and said, jenny's making a huge mistake,

Steve:

that. That is just my gut feeling on this, is

Steve:

that Dan couldn't keep his mouth

Steve:

shut.

Leif:

Or at least it seemed like they should have been

Leif:

gone by then.

Steve:

Well, they were loading up. I mean.

Leif:

Well, yeah, they were. They were loading up when he left, went

Leif:

to the gallery, had a whole conversation with Vanessa about

Leif:

it. Then you're saying told

Leif:

Rufus and then walked all the way

Leif:

back.

Steve:

But, I mean, they were right. I. Hey, I, I'm just

Steve:

saying that was the impression I got, that Dan took.

Leif:

Fair enough.

Steve:

Because they agree. Yeah. Well, my last

Steve:

closing point to that is they did close up the gallery

Steve:

to go back to the loft.

Leif:

So it was getting towards evening at that point.

Steve:

Yeah. Yeah. They've been opened in the

Steve:

evening.

Leif:

They had that big opening. Maybe they asked some employees.

Steve:

Now, do you think it's beyond Dan to

Steve:

snitch here?

Leif:

No, but I just don't.

Steve:

No further questions. Your honor.

Leif:

Okay, that's not. That's not how it works. Gotta be

Leif:

reasonable doubt. There's plenty of reasonable doubt there.

Steve:

I've got. I've got zero down.

Leif:

we go into act two. Blair confronts

Leif:

Chuck about Emma, who denies having done anything with

Leif:

her because Serena is best friends with every

Leif:

bartender in town. She gets a text alert telling

Leif:

her that E. Boardman has used

Leif:

her credit card. At one oak, Blair ropes

Leif:

both Serena and chuck into helping her track down the

Leif:

troublemaker.

Steve:

The back of the limo is sacred.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: But I.

Steve:

That girl assaulted me.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: That. Yeah, that girl assaulted me. That.

Steve:

So again, yeah, Chuck there

Steve:

is trying to be a stand up gentleman.

Leif:

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Steve:

Chuck 2.0.

Leif:

But again, I can't fault him in this episode at all.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: no, and when I say stand up, gentlemen, I mean

Leif:

covering his own ass because he doesn't want to go to jail for

Leif:

statutory rate.

Steve:

Yeah. Whatever his reason, he does the right

Steve:

thing.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Yeah, he does the right thing in the best

Steve:

way that Chuck does his right thing to benefit

Steve:

Chuck.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

Well, I believe in this moment that he believes they. The

Leif:

dilemma is sacred.

Steve:

Yeah, I do think.

Leif:

And at this very moment, I don't know if that's going to stay that way,

Leif:

but at this moment, he believes that.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: All right.

Steve:

Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: I'll give you that. I'll give you that.

Steve:

So that goes back to his own beliefs and his own stand

Steve:

up thing.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

Oh, yeah. Outside

Leif:

the palace hotel. What I'm saying is, if it

Leif:

wasn't the limo, he might have gone for it.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: I mean, again, Chuck is. Chuck does whatever

Leif:

Chuck wants to do.

Leif:

Except, outside the young girl.

Leif:

Yeah. Outside the palace,

Leif:

Jenny tells Nate how they are having a guerrilla fashion

Leif:

show here because they need wealthy financial

Leif:

backers. Jenny persuades Nate to stay

Leif:

and help with the show.

Steve:

I love that Jenny has really done the

Steve:

work. Like, they really, really

Steve:

establish over and over that Jenny

Steve:

has done the work to earn

Steve:

what she's doing. Yeah. And over

Steve:

and over that has. She has proven that,

Steve:

which is one of the things that makes her. What makes me

Steve:

like that character so.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Much now I also feel like

Steve:

I agree with you saying that she has done the work.

Steve:

You also have her friend. I forget her friend's name

Steve:

right now.

Steve:

Agnes.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Agneshe just really being

Steve:

that little devil, on the side.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Going. Yeah, you can do this. Yeah, let's do

Leif:

this. You know, I'm going to make sure that this

Leif:

happens for us. You know,

Leif:

secretly, I'm interested to see.

Leif:

If, we find out more of her reasons.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Yeah.

Leif:

In the coming episodes, can I also.

Steve:

Say that I can't say her name without wanting to say

Steve:

Agnes, agatha Germaine and Jack.

Steve:

Fair enough. Friends. And that's a fact. Like

Steve:

Agatha. Agnes, Agatha Germaine and

Steve:

Jack.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Very nice.

Steve:

You.

Steve:

You got what I need?

Steve:

You say he's just a friend?

Leif:

You say he's just a friend?

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Oh, baby.

Steve:

I actually saw him DJ, Andre,

Steve:

Andre's band did this, like, his tribute

Steve:

banded this nineties eighties thing at the

Steve:

TLA. And in between the

Steve:

sets, Biz Marquis came out and

Steve:

dj'd, and he just. He

Steve:

just really, like, it was so much

Steve:

fun. Played, like, the great mix of, like,

Steve:

perfect. Like, perfect, to the

Steve:

crowd and played the first half of that. He's like, I'm gonna

Steve:

remind you all why you know me. Played the first half of the song and then

Steve:

stopped and goes, we'll do the rest later.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: In 98, I saw him open up for the Beastie

Steve:

boys.

Leif:

Oh, that's.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: And I saw live the

Leif:

Bendy and the Jets Beastie boys. That is on one of

Leif:

the b sides of the Beastie Boys album.

Steve:

Oh, that's awesome.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: So it's Biz Markie and the beastie boy. So,

Steve:

you know, rest in Penny's bizarre Marky.

Steve:

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Leif:

Or without. To the homies.

Steve:

Yeah, yeah. This is beat of the day from yo gabba

Steve:

gabba. Like, my kids were into that shit. He was

Steve:

generational.

Leif:

Blair and Serena track down Emma, who is

Leif:

flirting with a guy in a booth. Blair and Serena,

Leif:

momentarily distracted. Emma sneaks out with her

Leif:

new boy toy.

Steve:

Yeah, I love how she

Steve:

calls. She refers to Aaron as her

Steve:

albatross. Like, we'll worry about your

Steve:

albatross after I find mine.

Leif:

Yeah, but Blair's speaking truth. This episode about

Leif:

Aaron.

Steve:

At least Blair sees right through this shit

Steve:

and wants nothing to do with this Aaron

Steve:

guy. Although this is. I

Steve:

believe there's also a pattern

Steve:

developing of when

Steve:

Serena likes someone,

Steve:

Blair doesn't that kind of.

Steve:

And, I mean, I know I have been like that as

Steve:

a friend, too, that, like, I just. Whoever my one

Steve:

friend brought home, I didn't like, you know?

Leif:

So I jump. I have a theory

Leif:

that throughout the show, there's, like, a hidden subtext of

Leif:

Blair being in love with Serena, which you've also

Leif:

mentioned.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: I mean, I would not, take that away. No,

Leif:

I agree with you. Yeah.

Steve:

Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: I mean, yeah, there's. There's. There's. There's that weird

Steve:

jealousy, you know?

Leif:

Yeah, but it's also like they never.

Leif:

They never really go there. But it's like, it's just. It's just under

Leif:

the surface.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Yeah, but, I mean, there's there's that, and there's also,

Leif:

like, they kind of, like, have that

Leif:

impeding thing where they, like, look up to each other in a

Leif:

weird way, and then they, like, yeah. and get

Leif:

upset if the other one, like, does something extremely,

Leif:

extremely stupid.

Leif:

So obviously, they're m extremely coded.

Steve:

Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: So obviously. Yeah. When it comes to, like, guys, they're going to be

Steve:

like, yeah, he sees that. Good for you.

Steve:

Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: And, no, I'm not going to tell you.

Steve:

Yeah. Yeah. And there's a thought of, does she

Steve:

want to be with Serena, or does she want to

Steve:

be Serena?

Steve:

Jean-Paul: That's a good point.

Steve:

A lot of that jealousy comes up a lot,

Steve:

too. So when Serena's with someone that she doesn't like,

Steve:

well, I wouldn't like that person.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Right.

Steve:

You know what?

Leif:

I don't think she wants to be Serena. She wants the attention, but

Leif:

she wants to be her and get the attention.

Steve:

Yeah. Yeah, yeah.

Leif:

Serena gets,

Steve:

Well, I think she wants the attention, and she

Steve:

wants the

Steve:

ease of Serena, that

Steve:

Serena. Things just come

Steve:

naturally and easy in Blair's mind

Steve:

that she wants not to have to work for

Steve:

every little bit of a brute.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: The golden child.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

Inside the gala, Jenny realizes Bart

Leif:

and Lily are the ones getting honored and starts to

Leif:

get a bit nervous. However, Jenny,

Leif:

always the quick thinker, checks in under

Leif:

Eric's name.

Steve:

So, so smooth.

Steve:

Sometimes they leave off the a.

Leif:

So smooth m. And where is Eric, though? Why isn't

Leif:

he?

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

They couldn't afford him this episode.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

A very guilty Jenny bumps into Lily, but

Leif:

luckily, Nate steps in to cover her. Nate

Leif:

is definitely making a habit of saving Jenny.

Leif:

Jenny is melting down, and Nate pulls her in for

Leif:

a big old smooch. But if Jenny and Nate

Leif:

were trying to hide their relationship, it looks like the

Leif:

cat is about to burst out of the bag,

Leif:

howling and screaming. The mini Serena from

Leif:

the Dark Knight episode snaps a photo of the

Leif:

kiss.

Steve:

Yep. You're way too public of

Steve:

a person to be kissing in public. The two of you.

Leif:

Did everyone, recognize the little girl?

Leif:

Jean-Paul: I didn't, so I'm glad you said that. I

Leif:

did not.

Leif:

Yeah. So she's a recurring, like, her and the

Leif:

mini Blair come back a few times throughout the series?

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Yeah, no, I remember them, but I didn't. I didn't

Leif:

have, like, put it together in this episode.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

Back at the bar, Blair continues

Leif:

to whine at Serena. But thanks to Chuck's

Leif:

investigation, Blair gets a picture of Emma's

Leif:

mummy cheating on.

Steve:

Daddy, that seems like a good

Steve:

plan b.

Leif:

Sure. Get it to get it to yell by

Leif:

blackmailing.

Steve:

I mean, this is Blair. Yeah, it's Blair.

Leif:

It is definitely Blair.

Steve:

That is classic Blair.

Leif:

But. Well, really, would it really have

Leif:

worked.

Steve:

In gossip girl terms?

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Well, I think it depends really

Steve:

how connected this. This woman really

Steve:

is because. Well, I think they would.

Leif:

I mean, she basically got in based on

Leif:

the daughter's recommendations. I guess the

Leif:

mom must be.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: I mean, yeah, that, I guess. Yeah, probably.

Leif:

Jenny and Agnes are doing some last minute prep. It

Leif:

looks like Agnes has a minion working the av

Leif:

for the gala.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Now. Now.

Leif:

Do anything creepy with my fret.

Steve:

Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Now, do you guys know the little weird trivia of that

Steve:

thing? Because I actually, I found this

Steve:

out and I was like that, it kind of makes

Steve:

sense. Notice that kid does not say a

Steve:

single line. He just does weird

Steve:

motions with his face. yeah, that was a

Steve:

contest winner to get on the show.

Leif:

Really?

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Wow.

Leif:

I did not know that.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Yeah, cuz, cuz I was. Because

Leif:

when I watch tv or watch movies, I

Leif:

don't know, sometimes that my weird thing in my mind, I'm

Leif:

like, why is that person just

Leif:

there? You know?

Leif:

So I went and I recently I

Leif:

found that apparently they had a contest to be on the show.

Leif:

It was contest with a lot of those at Gossip Girl, actually,

Leif:

a lot of like, just people just there.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Yeah, so, yeah, so that was a contest whenever

Leif:

they want to be a role on

Leif:

Gotham girl.

Leif:

And I'm like, I can't.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: That totally makes sense. It tracks because

Leif:

just no line, just

Leif:

the facial, you know,

Leif:

stand here. You know, it's kind of like I just

Leif:

recently found out I. In the movie masters of the v

Leif:

universe from 1987, the Dolph Lundrin one.

Steve:

I prefer to think of it as the Frank Langello one.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: There you go. There you go. Well, okay.

Steve:

Fred Van Dillo, towards the

Steve:

end, he grabs the staff from that little

Steve:

child. yeah, yeah, that was a contest

Steve:

winner.

Steve:

I only felt.

Steve:

I remember that contest. Yeah, I remember that

Steve:

contest. I entered that contest. Like fucking

Steve:

everybody entered that contest of a certain age.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Everybody entered that contest. Yeah.

Steve:

Yeah. If I remember correctly, it was a clip off

Steve:

the proof of purchase from the back of your he man

Steve:

guy and send it in and you could enter the

Steve:

contest.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Exactly.

Steve:

Yes. I remember hating that kid because he won.

Steve:

Yeah, yeah, I didn't.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: I didn't know until recently that, because I

Steve:

just purchased the. Listened to the commentary with

Steve:

director and. And people said, yeah,

Steve:

people always wondered why this kid just, you know, it was so

Steve:

random and weird. And he's like, because they made me put

Steve:

this kid in here because he was a contest winner.

Leif:

Wow.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: So, so, again, that's where my man kind of was

Leif:

because I heard that and I thought, this kid in this

Leif:

scene is just like, I'm just going to put the usb

Leif:

in this container and weird things

Leif:

that I'm like, I don't know, let me look it up. And I

Leif:

fear he won. He won. He won the

Leif:

role.

Steve:

Walk on roller Johnson. Another side note, Frank

Steve:

Lingela is one of my fraternity brothers. He is a

Steve:

brother, of Alpha Chi wro.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Oh, wow.

Steve:

yeah, yeah. When I was pledging, he was like, listed in

Steve:

our book as like one of our influential brothers. Because

Steve:

he, you know, because by then this was well after masters of

Steve:

the universe and some other. But. And yeah,

Steve:

Alpha Chi row brother.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Oh, wow. So this would have been like when, you know, he was probably

Steve:

in that, that movie with Whoopi. Gulp.

Leif:

At the loft. Rufus, Vanessa and Dan are still trying to

Leif:

track down Jenny. When Dan sees the gossip girl blast,

Leif:

allowing Nate and Jenny, or, showing Nate and Jenny kissing at

Leif:

the palace, he hides the blast from the others.

Steve:

Yeah. And goes into

Steve:

big brother mode. He's such an

Steve:

asshole.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: So. So, yeah, was he doing this big brother mode or

Steve:

was he also like, you know, I guess big brother

Steve:

mode protecting my sister? or big brother mode,

Steve:

I'm going to kill

Steve:

Nate for making my

Steve:

sister.

Steve:

And there is this big part of me that, like, when I was

Steve:

in college, my best friend made out with my

Steve:

little sister. I wanted to strangle the life out of it.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Well, there you go. For sure.

Steve:

I didn't. He's still my best friend.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Okay.

Steve:

But I wanted to strangle

Steve:

the life out of him back then. So, like, I kind of

Steve:

get Dan here. Like, I feel like I would have been like that

Steve:

too. But also, you're an asshole, Dan. Because I was

Steve:

also an asshole too, to be fair.

Leif:

I also noticed something in the scene. Dan

Leif:

checking, gossip girl alerts and getting gossip girl alerts on

Leif:

his computer. Now. He's fully kind of in

Leif:

the game now.

Steve:

Oh, that's true.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: That's a good point.

Steve:

You went to Gossip Girl. Or did he

Steve:

go to Gossip Girl to find her or. It was, it was an email

Steve:

blast.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: If I remember right.

Leif:

Yeah, it was.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: So, so, so clearly he's on the.

Leif:

He's now.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: He's subscribed. Yeah, he's now. Like, I'm

Leif:

in. I want to know this whole gossip world

Leif:

or whatever.

Steve:

hm.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: So, yeah.

Leif:

We hear lonely boys BFF still

Leif:

carries a torch for Nate. If she finds out

Leif:

about little sister wonder who'll get

Leif:

burned. We move

Leif:

into act three. Rvd,

Leif:

not Rob van Dam, but Rufus. Dan and Vanessa are, now in

Leif:

a cab heading towards the palace.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Okay, so that's a one. I've got to say

Leif:

something. That whole thing in the cab, and

Leif:

Rufus is like, you know, banging and going

Leif:

absolutely crazy and giving the

Leif:

$1 bill. It's the worst

Leif:

acting.

Steve:

Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Rufus really bad. Has ever done,

Steve:

I think, in the span of this show.

Steve:

This is honestly maybe Rufus's

Steve:

worst episode, and he's had another bad

Steve:

episode.

Leif:

Yeah, he was really bad.

Steve:

He was really bad in this one.

Leif:

But, yeah, the acting was very bad.

Steve:

It was terrible. Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: And the thing is, I, enjoy his character, but in

Steve:

this episode, I was just like,

Steve:

I feel the only reason they really

Steve:

put him in was here, have this

Steve:

be a dad. But he did such

Steve:

a job being a dad in this

Steve:

episode that it's just like, the episode

Steve:

could have actually been okay with him not even in

Steve:

it.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

You know, what I've always said is, I enjoy Rufus when he's

Leif:

interacting with Dan and when he's interacting with Lily.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

But when he's interacting with Jenny and parenting Jenny, he

Leif:

is. He's horrible.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Yeah.

Steve:

Worst.

Leif:

He's so different with his parenting towards Jenny than when he

Leif:

is with Dan.

Steve:

Yeah. Yeah. Completely different and. And

Steve:

really shitty to Jenny all the time.

Leif:

RVD arrives at the palace and are let into the

Leif:

event by Lily, who seems to be just chilling by

Leif:

the entrance, waiting to bump into people. Bart

Leif:

seems very annoyed when he sees Rufus

Leif:

at the event.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: The handshake alone. The handshake alone.

Steve:

That was so. Yeah, that awkward.

Leif:

Well, I didn't invite him. Yeah, but,

Leif:

like, which he didn't, and.

Steve:

Rufus had every right to because this dude fucking

Steve:

shows up all the time.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Like.

Steve:

Like, this dude always shows up. And I thought we were

Steve:

not doing this anymore, Lily. Like, yeah.

Steve:

Like, but also. But here's the thing where, like,

Steve:

this is the side of Bart that I do like

Steve:

that Bart is annoyed, but Bart isn't

Steve:

being an asshole about it, and he's not flipping out.

Leif:

I mean, he's all about decorum.

Steve:

yeah, he just keeps it, and he just, you know,

Steve:

he's just setting it aside and

Steve:

compartmentalizing. And I like that about Bart. I like

Steve:

that he's not an explosive

Steve:

control. Yeah. Bart knows how much power he

Steve:

has.

Leif:

He is Lex Luthor.

Steve:

Yeah, well, he knows that if he wanted to, he could have

Steve:

that guy.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Fucking well like father, like son in this episode then,

Steve:

if you really think.

Steve:

Yeah. Yeah, very much.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Because, the way Chuck handled himself in this episode

Steve:

is the same way.

Leif:

And Chuck definitely learned at the foot of his father.

Steve:

Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: So, yeah, definitely like father likes.

Steve:

But again, that weird handshake

Steve:

that they have, that interaction is just,

Steve:

like, really weird and charming to

Steve:

me. It's almost like,

Steve:

they give themselves, like, right here, and I'm like,

Steve:

is that not how you shake me?

Steve:

Yeah, I'm gonna grab you off.

Steve:

Yeah, they. It was so awkward.

Steve:

I loved it.

Leif:

Well, the act, the actor who plays part actually has kind of long

Leif:

arms.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Okay.

Steve:

Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: I mean, I know him from a bunch of b boo, so.

Leif:

Yeah, he's been. Yeah, like, I know he loves the

Leif:

sopranos for an episode.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Yeah.

Leif:

Pretty funny role. Tony thought he was gay.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: That's right. That's right.

Leif:

Dorota was on a few episodes of Sopranos in the last

Leif:

season. Oh. As a polish

Leif:

maid.

Steve:

That's funny.

Leif:

And she actually. She's actually talked about how, she gotta got

Leif:

typecasted, as a polish maid. And they

Leif:

got. Got the role as gossip girl. Like, they. They, like, saw

Leif:

her out for it.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: And if you also forget, he was,

Leif:

robocop in Robocop three.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

Yeah.

Steve:

Oh, wow. Yeah.

Leif:

Unfortunately. Unfortunately, that movie exists.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: I'm gonna say. Unfortunately, Robocop three.

Leif:

Dad and Nate, say,

Leif:

still after Bob. Robocop three.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to sidetrack you.

Leif:

But every time I think of

Leif:

him, m because, again, he's a terrible actor in that

Leif:

movie, and robocop three is

Leif:

terrible.

Leif:

Blair is thanking God for blackmailing evidence, but

Leif:

Serena convinces Blair to save Emma first.

Leif:

Looks like Blair and Chuck are alone and free to team

Leif:

up.

Steve:

And Blair's, like, sitting there taking shots at serena,

Steve:

like. Like usual. Just. And

Steve:

Serena just, like, takes it.

Leif:

Yeah, it's like.

Steve:

Okay. All right.

Leif:

Yeah, she's used to it.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

Dan sees Nate without saying a word, grabs Nate and shoves him up

Leif:

against the wall before demanding answers.

Leif:

Nate plays it totally cool and does his best to

Leif:

de escalate. Dan refrains from physical

Leif:

violence, but still judges. Judges Nate for

Leif:

the capturing thing and tells him to hit the road.

Leif:

Jack. Don't you come back.

Steve:

Yeah. Nate really tried to keep his

Steve:

cool too. Yeah, Nate really every step of the

Steve:

way. Nate had every right to fucking knock him out at one

Steve:

point, but Nate every step of the way was just like,

Steve:

okay, let's bring it down. Okay. The

Steve:

escalation fucking good guy, Nate all the

Steve:

time. And Robin was even like, my

Steve:

wife. Robin was even like, this is

Steve:

Robin's words. Where. This is Dan's ugliest moment. Well,

Steve:

so far, anyway. Thus

Steve:

far. Thus far, this is his

Steve:

ugliest moment.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: I've been my lips right now.

Steve:

Well, because he not only does

Steve:

he. Is he shitty to Nate, he also

Steve:

betrayed Vanessa's trust. Like,

Steve:

Vanessa trusted him with that

Steve:

information. So now Nate has

Steve:

every right to be mad at Vanessa too,

Steve:

for. For that. So, like, Dan fucked both

Steve:

of his friends in one breath.

Leif:

I really blame him for fucking Vanessa.

Steve:

I mean, Vanessa should never have told them in the first

Steve:

place.

Leif:

It's not. I mean, what, once Vanessa tells it and then the secrets,

Leif:

basically, yeah.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: God, I just want to defend Vanessa right now.

Leif:

Go for it. Go for it.

Steve:

Yes, please do.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: I mean, again, in this episode, she,

Steve:

like, this really has nothing to do in

Steve:

this episode, right.

Steve:

Which this show. Yeah. She tends to

Steve:

just not have a.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Lot, and I know that. And again, I

Steve:

get what her character really is supposed to

Steve:

be, but I just think she's a very adorable

Steve:

character.

Leif:

That she, should be. She

Leif:

should be, but she has no reason to exist.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: She has no reason to exist. But they. They. I guess

Leif:

she, from the way I interpret her

Leif:

character so far to this

Leif:

point in this show, they want

Leif:

her to be the audience. They want you to feel,

Leif:

like, sympathy for somebody against

Leif:

the elite of all of these, like,

Leif:

rich, spoiled kids. She

Leif:

is your down to earth kid as well,

Leif:

because you think Dan was supposed to be that

Leif:

character, but he's not.

Steve:

Well, because he has to be sucked in.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Yeah, exactly.

Leif:

I think that is what they intended in the first season.

Leif:

But again, like, she just didn't have a reason to be in this world

Leif:

other than she was tagging along with Dan.

Steve:

Right.

Leif:

So she's always. She's always opposing herself. But

Leif:

then we also talked about a few episodes where she kind of took a

Leif:

turn, where out of nowhere, she approached

Leif:

Blair and blackmailed her just to help her with her pride.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Right. I get that.

Leif:

That was, like, a bit. That was a big change for her character.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: I think so. So basically, she's the scrappy do.

Leif:

Oh, yeah. Oh, I think, like, at this point, the writers realize

Leif:

that the fans hated her, so they're just gonna now lead.

Steve:

Into her and let me more open ass

Steve:

crappy do.

Leif:

Let's see if they. If the fans like her more. Yeah,

Leif:

I have my doubts. And Blair and Truck have

Leif:

tracked down Emma, and they are, convinced the ditch

Leif:

surge, when she gets the blast, Muffy's

Leif:

muff got stuffed and so

Leif:

fucking.

Steve:

Fucking disgusting in the first place

Steve:

because, like, to post that on the. On the

Steve:

Internet about a 1312

Steve:

13 year old middle school kid in the

Steve:

first place is fucking

Steve:

disgusting. Also there. It begs the question,

Steve:

was muffy stuff, or was this just a Chuck

Steve:

scheme that comes out later? Right? they.

Leif:

They tell, them we'll get into that, but yes, that'd be

Leif:

a ski.

Steve:

Okay. Yeah, I thought so.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: I wanted to head because I. So the guy. The guy's

Steve:

real name is Serge, right?

Steve:

Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: So. So, like, surge from, like, baby hills

Steve:

cop.

Steve:

Yes. Yeah.

Leif:

Perfect strangers again.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: My head works in weird ways. I'll

Leif:

be the first to admit it. I get weird

Leif:

connections. I'm just thinking, holy

Leif:

cow, if there were

Leif:

this weird kind of world. Yeah,

Leif:

I could see surge from Beverly Hills cop coming to New

Leif:

York.

Leif:

Since you brought it up, have you watched the new one yet?

Steve:

I've actually heard really good.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: It's much better than part three because it's not rated pg

Steve:

13.

Leif:

I weirdly like part three because it just hit

Leif:

that weird spot. My childhood, we always had HBO

Leif:

as a kid. Played a million times.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Of course. Yeah.

Leif:

On HBS. Yeah, that's kind of. I

Leif:

kind of like. I like three better than two.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Okay.

Leif:

I mean, one's obviously the best, but I like

Leif:

three better than two.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: See, I. I'm a Gen X kid. so

Leif:

I grew up with one and two. Like, even

Leif:

though I was a kid, watching them, not supposed to be watching

Leif:

them. And Kenny loggin soundtrack in part two

Leif:

just. It's so much for me.

Leif:

This one.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: This one. I mean, it's. It's a

Leif:

really, really, really good movie. They should just

Leif:

stop, though, because

Leif:

everybody involved is just a little too

Leif:

old, you know?

Steve:

Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Eddie Murphy is definitely not doing a lot of

Steve:

stunts in this movie.

Steve:

It's entertaining, you know,

Steve:

and.

Leif:

And I will check it out.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: It's streaming, so it was the smartest thing that.

Leif:

Exactly. They. They decided to. We're not

Leif:

going to play with the box office. We're just going to throw it out swimming.

Leif:

So.

Steve:

Yeah, yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: There's my quick back.

Steve:

The gossip girl. again, even though

Steve:

surge is a homosexual, I

Steve:

could see him in this world, too, just messing with

Steve:

these kids.

Steve:

So, yeah, there's my.

Leif:

I just want to know what he was doing with that tulip.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Yeah.

Leif:

Serena calls Aaron to give him yet another

Leif:

chance when yet another woman answers his

Leif:

phone. I mean, come on.

Steve:

After he changes his voicemail, m. Or answer. it

Steve:

must be his answering it is an answer.

Leif:

Yeah, it is, but that's.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: That's also what gets me. Okay, so there's another girl

Leif:

there, right? And the answering machine kicks

Leif:

on again. I said, I'm sure that girl.

Leif:

I grew up with answering machines. You hear a message

Leif:

play. So that goes there.

Steve:

Listening to that message go for someone

Steve:

else. Right?

Steve:

Jean-Paul: For someone else. That girl's okay with it,

Steve:

too, and it answers.

Steve:

Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Who is this? Can I leave a,

Steve:

message? I mean, what kind of girl's low

Steve:

self esteem? I don't know.

Steve:

I just say that just really low self

Steve:

esteem. Does you want to be with this.

Leif:

Low self esteem and daddy issues?

Steve:

Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Yeah. With that issues indeed.

Steve:

Or just full on polyamorous, just like,

Steve:

the flip side of it.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Sure.

Steve:

Hey.

Leif:

Yeah, serena is just the odd one out.

Steve:

Yeah. She just hasn't been invited into the. Into

Steve:

our group yet.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: There you go.

Steve:

I mean, Serena leader does say, is it going to be the whole

Steve:

harem?

Leif:

It's moments before showtime when nate lets

Leif:

Jenny know her family is here. Looking for

Leif:

jenny begs Nate to stay.

Steve:

It was cute.

Leif:

I definitely like jetty and Nate together again.

Steve:

Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Yeah. It was very cute. Nate still kind

Steve:

of, you know, trying to redeem himself as a good guy

Steve:

in this episode.

Steve:

I really. And throughout this

Steve:

podcast, I have championed nate, where

Steve:

nate has done some. I mean, even when he

Steve:

was, you know, sleeping with someone

Steve:

for money, he was doing it not in a vacuum.

Leif:

And also, he was a victim.

Steve:

He was a. Yeah, he was a victim. And it was.

Steve:

And it was, like, out of

Steve:

desperation, and he was victimized. And.

Steve:

And, like. And that's.

Leif:

That's scene when he's in the limo, driving away, just looking out the

Leif:

window. So sad.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: So. So you're saying. Yeah, you're not creatively Nate

Leif:

to that puppy dog with the puppy dog

Leif:

eyes, saying, I'm a

Leif:

poppy.

Steve:

I mean, that's how I feel about him a lot because he is like

Steve:

a golden retriever. It's.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: It's okay, Nate. You a dumb dog, but we still

Steve:

love you. And, like.

Steve:

And pretty much, he's a dumb dog. And, like,

Steve:

if you put something in front of him, if you put the right

Steve:

leg in front of him, he's gonna hunt. Like,

Steve:

and.

Leif:

And those legs just happen, like shiny,

Leif:

blonde things.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Yeah. Yeah. Shiny blonde things is true.

Steve:

But but he also, like. But he never

Steve:

mistreats the people

Steve:

that he. That he. You know, you're right.

Leif:

He's kind of absent minded. Yeah.

Steve:

Yeah, exactly. You know, the only person he really

Steve:

has mistreated at all was Blair, by

Steve:

cheating on her before the show started, and

Steve:

how he treated her in the first several

Steve:

episodes.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: But that's because he didn't know.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

And he was also getting pretty, basically, he wanted to break up more. There was.

Leif:

His parents were basically forcing him to date her. Yeah.

Steve:

He, like, another very sympathetic

Steve:

side to him. Like, to me, has always been a

Steve:

sympathetic character.

Leif:

Lily and Barr are, ah, presented with an award when we see

Leif:

Lily smile and wink to someone in the crowd,

Leif:

presumably Rufus. But maybe some.

Steve:

I would hope not. I would hope maybe anyone

Steve:

else.

Leif:

But, I mean, it shows, like,

Leif:

it's a kind of rufus, like, looking around the audience. They

Leif:

immediately cut to lily, and she winks.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

At the camera. It's like,

Leif:

okay. so, obviously there's still feelings there.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Obviously.

Steve:

Obviously.

Leif:

I don't think this marriage departs that long from this world.

Steve:

Well, I mean, I think it's more like, I don't think this

Steve:

marriage to Lily.

Steve:

Marriage to Lily is long for this world.

Leif:

Fair enough. The lights go out and

Leif:

the.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Leif:

Cover of Sheena is a punk rocker plays over the

Leif:

PA speakers. A video montage of

Leif:

Agnes and her model friends wearing Jenny's designs play

Leif:

on the monitors. Then the models themselves burst

Leif:

into a darkened room carrying flashlights and dancing

Leif:

on the tables, even smashing a glass or

Leif:

two. I, love the scene.

Steve:

Yeah. Jenny did an amazing job on this event.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

First of all, I love the song. It's a great song. But, yeah,

Leif:

the whole setup was, you know, the lights just go

Leif:

out and everyone's like, what's going on? Yeah,

Leif:

headed up great.

Steve:

Like, classic Ramon song that you then, like, have

Steve:

with the. With the women

Steve:

vocalist for. From the aas. Like,

Steve:

yeah, I. And, yeah, I really loved.

Steve:

I think Jenny just fucking nailed it, and I

Steve:

loved it.

Leif:

And then at the end of it all, Jenny, in celebration,

Leif:

embraces and kisses Nate in view of

Leif:

everyone, including Vanessa. Jenny is

Leif:

immediately guilt rin and chases after

Leif:

v. So.

Steve:

Yeah, yeah. And fucking

Steve:

Vanessa. Maybe if he didn't suck. Vanessa is my

Steve:

note.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Vanessa.

Steve:

Maybe if he didn't suck so bad, like, if he didn't, like, hate

Steve:

on Nate for the fucking tough decision and

Steve:

victimization that he went through and, like.

Leif:

Well, she does. I mean, she. If you

Leif:

remember, they clearly dumped

Leif:

her.

Steve:

Yeah, yeah.

Leif:

At the. Their last interaction, she. And then she.

Leif:

But she's still hung up on him. So I'll say. Yeah.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: The middle part of this episode, they did basically say, I

Leif:

mean, she is still hung up. Yeah, yeah.

Leif:

So I m think it's implied by from the

Leif:

scene that her and Jenny have talked about.

Leif:

Actually talked about it.

Steve:

Yeah, I would get that, too.

Leif:

I would.

Steve:

I think that's a good read.

Leif:

Looks like it's froze before hoes for little

Leif:

J, who know when her loyalty kicked in, Nate

Leif:

would be kicked out.

Leif:

Gossip girls little scene, over there.

Leif:

Dan and Rufus are still trying to track down

Leif:

Jenny, so they're still just running around.

Steve:

Yeah, I got nothing.

Leif:

Yeah, Blair is doing some mentoring with Emma

Leif:

once Emma steps out of the limo. Blair. Thanks, Chuck,

Leif:

for getting a gossip girl to put out a

Leif:

fake blast. This power shuck has, I

Leif:

doubt it's one you learn from a jedi.

Leif:

How did Chuck, get Gossip Girl to put out a fake

Leif:

blast?

Steve:

Yeah, and, I mean, there's the obvious

Steve:

answer, but then there's also the idea

Steve:

that this isn't the first time Chuck has gotten

Steve:

gossip girl to put out a blast.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: What's the obvious answer?

Steve:

the obvious answer to me would be Chuck being

Steve:

gossip, which was what I called in episode one.

Steve:

But I also have kind of backed off on any kind of

Steve:

speculation on that. Only because I

Steve:

know that on a meta level, I know that

Steve:

they didn't really know who Gossip girl was going to be

Steve:

until toward the end that they had an

Steve:

idea, and then they started changing it, and then they had a

Steve:

few people in mind. So I. That's a piece of

Steve:

meta knowledge that I got.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Okay, again, since I didn't watch this when

Steve:

it was actually so I don't know who Gossip Girl is,

Steve:

and again, I'm not going to tell you because I didn't. I did not watch

Steve:

this show. Went on. And

Steve:

while watching it, you know, with my

Steve:

wife, I kept going, is it going to be this? Is it

Steve:

this? I went through the gambit.

Steve:

Yeah, m and I started that, you.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Know, because from day one, I was like, I

Steve:

want to figure this out. And. But then. But then,

Steve:

now that you tell me that, it reminds me of

Steve:

the whole, what I call the middle

Steve:

finger of the creators of lost did

Steve:

to the public.

Steve:

It's not purgatory. It's not purgatory.

Steve:

Oh, wait, it is purgatory.

Steve:

Yeah, to anybody who doesn't, never.

Steve:

Watch lost after episode one, when

Steve:

everybody came out and said, oh, they're all dead. No, they're

Steve:

not dead. What? That's ridiculous.

Steve:

And then as soon as the reveal got you,

Steve:

it's like, no, you didn't. You lied to us.

Steve:

Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Yeah. when you say lie, that's

Steve:

personally what made me mad about the show because.

Steve:

Yeah, same.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: I had art like, I had altered

Steve:

patient, arguments at work with

Steve:

co workers, one being randy, who, you know,

Steve:

from last roundup.

Leif:

Horror.

Steve:

Yeah, yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: because that's actually where I met him at this job. And

Steve:

we would talk about the show loss, you know, every week. And

Steve:

I go, they're dead. This is clearly their

Steve:

employ. He's like, there is no way.

Steve:

You know? And he's like, ah. He's like, look, man,

Steve:

he would show me, like, the. He would show me, like,

Steve:

Entertainment Weekly magazine articles. And I'm

Steve:

like, look, they're lying to us. They're just lying to

Steve:

us. And then finally when it ended, you know,

Steve:

then finally the advent of, you know, our cell phones, we start

Steve:

texting each other. I. We were working at

Steve:

different jobs. We both watched it. And I just texted him. I

Steve:

go, I told you.

Steve:

Yeah, yeah.

Leif:

Ah.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: And all I got was, fuck you.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: So I. Again, I'm glad to

Leif:

hear that they had an idea, but not

Leif:

really, like, because I don't want another middle

Leif:

finger. Like, yeah.

Leif:

So if you. If you're curious about the lore, at the beginning, they

Leif:

were planning on it to be Eric.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Okay, interesting.

Leif:

Everyone. Everyone figured it out. There's even, like, a

Leif:

big New York Post article that was Eric. So

Leif:

they. At that point, they just kind of, like, scrapped it.

Steve:

And they were.

Leif:

Yeah, they were leaning towards a couple different people. And there's a couple

Leif:

things pointing to it. And then I

Leif:

feel at the earliest they decide, they decided was

Leif:

the very end of season five.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Okay.

Leif:

Like, probably when they were writing the season five finale

Leif:

is when they decided, all right, that.

Steve:

Yeah. And now the other reason

Steve:

that I would say that Chuck could get that blast out

Steve:

is that Chuck, I believe,

Steve:

would be a credible source

Steve:

to gossip Girl. That if Gossip Girl saw something

Steve:

from Chuck, that she would say, okay, that seems

Steve:

legit, I'll blast it.

Leif:

Because, like, Claire seemed depressed that he got it.

Steve:

Yeah. But that's also kind of weird because they

Steve:

all have gotten stuff posted on

Steve:

Gossip Girl at one point or another. Like, Dan has

Steve:

had something posted on Gossip Girl.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: See, the old reason why. Why I think Chuck's got the

Steve:

quote unquote read to do that.

Steve:

Seth already has pool

Steve:

within this world,

Steve:

so anything.

Steve:

Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Like, that came from Chuck,

Steve:

you know, because he's already a popular figure

Steve:

in this world, and m people know who

Steve:

he is. Gossip girl would be like, yeah,

Steve:

I'm gonna go ahead and do it because eventually that seems gonna

Steve:

be clicks for Gossip girl. Right, right.

Steve:

So that's why I think Chuck's got the

Steve:

clout to do that.

Steve:

Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Even if he may not know or if he doesn't know

Steve:

that he has that clout.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

Blair does some mentoring with Emma in a

Leif:

roundabout way. Admits that she loves, or at

Leif:

least loved. Check.

Steve:

Is this where she refers to muffy as the lacrosse?

Leif:

Yes.

Steve:

Blair had some, some great lines in it. That was

Steve:

one of them.

Steve:

the other thing she said to Emma was, stop making

Steve:

sounds with your mouth. I think.

Steve:

Stop making sounds with your mouth.

Leif:

Dan finally gets the bad news he was expecting from

Leif:

Jordan, the ta at Yale. Serena is there to

Leif:

comfort him. Dan seems to be

Leif:

regretting taking the moral high ground rather

Leif:

than selvishly using the people he knows for his

Leif:

writing.

Steve:

I did like having a nice Dan

Steve:

Serena moment. I know it's setting up episode

Steve:

ten, which is going to be a Dan Serena

Steve:

episode, so I do like

Steve:

that moment. But my note here is Dan decides to

Steve:

be a bigger asshole.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: I did not agree with you on that one.

Steve:

Yeah. Yeah. Like, you just see him in real time.

Steve:

Be like, I was only a shittier person.

Steve:

I might be able to achieve stuff.

Leif:

Well, I mean, I. I mean, they've shown him going back and forth

Leif:

on writing this story. Yeah.

Steve:

Ah.

Leif:

For several episodes.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

Like, at least three. Clearly, like, the people have

Leif:

told him. Yeah. Yeah. Write this story, and you can get it to yell.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

So I understand where he's coming from. He's. Yeah, but like,

Leif:

that, he's finally now, like, he sees jetty getting what she

Leif:

wants. Bye.

Steve:

But taking it.

Leif:

Yeah. By taking it. So he's like, okay, I'm gonna do that,

Leif:

too.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

Which, definitely, like, kind of go to the dark side, but.

Steve:

Yeah. And what's funny is that Jenny did that, but

Steve:

Jenny also didn't hurt anyone. You know, like,

Steve:

whereas he's like, she caught.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: I was really property damage, you know?

Steve:

that's true.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: The.

Steve:

They didn't have to break those.

Leif:

The event itself, it did interrupt

Leif:

like, everyone did. Ended up enjoying it. But, I mean,

Leif:

Washington. Yeah. Rude thing to do, practically.

Leif:

Blair brings Emma home only to find misses Borbund

Leif:

is already waiting for them. Blair is about to blackmail

Leif:

misses Borman, potentially blowing up their family,

Leif:

when Blair decides to spare Emma added pain because

Leif:

she clearly sees a lot of herself in Emma.

Steve:

Blair was so good. Like, Leighton.

Steve:

Leighton Meester was so

Steve:

good in this scene. Yeah. Like, just the

Steve:

facial expressions and, like,

Steve:

that blank look at the end when she just

Steve:

loses the fight. When the fight goes out

Steve:

of her, and you just see her

Steve:

portray that so masterfully. Fucking

Steve:

love watching her work Jenny is.

Leif:

Looking for Vanessa when Rufus finally tracks her

Leif:

down. Rufus is furious and demands that

Leif:

Jenny apologize to Lily. Lily

Leif:

accidentally unnervings Rufus when she lets Jenny

Leif:

know that there is no need to apologize because she loved the guerrilla

Leif:

fashion show. Rufus, off his rocker,

Leif:

tries to get Jenny arrested. Luckily, Lily

Leif:

steps in to defuse the situation.

Steve:

Rufus is Rufus such an

Steve:

asshole. Like,

Steve:

before.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Before I'm gonna defend him in this. This

Steve:

thing, only. Only because he's being

Steve:

a father. And he's, like,

Steve:

also trying to cover his own ass because his 50 year

Steve:

old daughter just messed up a

Steve:

gala event in New York. He doesn't know if he

Steve:

could get fine. If the fact that his daughter is going

Steve:

to end up going to jail, he's going to have to deal with

Steve:

that kind of that. I mean, this is the only time

Steve:

I felt in this episode that Rufus actually acted

Steve:

fairly well.

Leif:

But he knew his Lily's event already.

Leif:

And Lily just came over and said, like, the reason why he went

Leif:

up to the cop is Lily wasn't going to do anything.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Lilly, Lily does the. I dream of Jeannie, you

Leif:

just. I'm, here.

Leif:

Well, but.

Steve:

But Lily to be like, you know, I don't. I'm not

Steve:

mad about this. And for him to then be like, well, fine,

Steve:

I'll show her. I'm gonna have a cop arrest my kid

Steve:

because I'm mad still. Yeah, like,

Steve:

that's the shitty parent.

Leif:

Yeah, I mean, or whatever.

Leif:

But.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: But he was also trying to,

Leif:

like, I mentioned before, a lot of people in this

Leif:

episode, it's everybody covering their own

Leif:

asses and everybody tied it being their

Leif:

own selfish kind of way.

Steve:

Well, and I really. What I think my big

Steve:

problem with Rufus in general, and we touched on

Steve:

this earlier, the. The difference between how he treats

Steve:

Dan and Jenny. And I really think the

Steve:

biggest thing with Rufus is Rufus is

Steve:

jealous that he had this

Steve:

career that didn't take off.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Yes.

Steve:

He had this rock star career that

Steve:

fizzled because he

Steve:

wasn't good enough to make

Steve:

it any bigger than he made it. He was

Steve:

number nine on the ten most forgotten bands of the

Steve:

nineties, and that's where he landed. And

Steve:

so he doesn't want to see his kids

Steve:

go down in flames, but he won't let them take

Steve:

the risks that they are ready

Steve:

to make. Like, what?

Leif:

I think you're kind of getting on the right track there. But

Leif:

he didn't necessarily go down in flames. Both

Leif:

times he came home because he wanted to be with his kids.

Leif:

So does he secretly blame them and how

Leif:

it's like, oh, they. They can have it, but I can't.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: That's a good point.

Steve:

That's a really good point.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Is a great point.

Leif:

That is just said both times that he didn't flame

Leif:

out. He came home because he wanted to be with his kids.

Leif:

We just saw just earlier this season, they wanted him back on.

Steve:

Yeah. Yeah.

Leif:

He's gonna do a big college stadium tour.

Steve:

Yeah. And. And you're right. He's.

Steve:

That. That is such a great insight that he.

Steve:

That. Yeah, fuck him.

Steve:

I'm so mad at him in this fucking

Steve:

episode.

Leif:

Yeah, fuck him again.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Did not need to be in this episode again.

Leif:

Like, I. Joppa, I agree with you. Like, this could. He

Leif:

could have.

Steve:

This is.

Leif:

You know, he's in with his right to parent Jenny, Harri and

Leif:

Punisher. But they'll call the fucking.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Oh, I mean, again, hovering his own

Leif:

ass. Because think about it. Let the cops sort it out, and I won't

Leif:

have to deal with it.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

yeah, that's. That's being a lazy.

Steve:

Yeah, it's really lazy.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Never said he was parent of the year. What?

Steve:

My dad used to do shit like that. Like, threatened to,

Steve:

like, well, if you ever did this, I would call the police on you. Like,

Steve:

like, my dad would do pull that kind of shit. And it

Steve:

was when I was an adult that I was like, what? Lazy

Steve:

parenting to call the police on your kidde.

Steve:

Like, you can't handle them, so you're gonna hand them over to the

Steve:

cops.

Leif:

Poor Jenny. All that glamour almost

Leif:

led to the slammer. But what will the morning

Leif:

bring? We move

Leif:

into the epilogue. Chuck finds

Leif:

Nate once again squatting at his empty

Leif:

childhood home. Chuck tries to get Nate to

Leif:

come stay with him. However, whether it's his

Leif:

pride, anger towards Chuck, or a combination,

Leif:

Nate refuses the offer to instead go back to the

Leif:

Hamptons where his mom is staying, which.

Steve:

Sucks, which means that we're gonna have another stretch of no

Steve:

Nate shows. Like fuck. like,

Steve:

Nate's. Nate is also. Nate and Jenny are my favorite

Steve:

characters, so I love when Nate's on.

Steve:

And now it seems like both of them

Steve:

are gonna be out for at least a little bit, I would

Steve:

think. I don't know. Maybe not jenny.

Leif:

I feel like jenny's storyline is just starting.

Steve:

Yeah. But I guess in my mind, the

Steve:

good storytelling would not have her

Steve:

in the next episode at all

Steve:

because that gives Rufus reason to be

Steve:

really fucking freaking out. But

Steve:

I didn't write it, obviously.

Leif:

Serena wakes, but I was.

Steve:

But I have taught writing.

Leif:

Serena wakes Blair with some encouraging words.

Leif:

Serena asks to leave when she gets a visitor, and

Leif:

Blair has a call from the dean.

Steve:

My note from this, I need to point out that my sister

Steve:

in law Allison would probably take

Steve:

high offense to. Princeton is a

Steve:

trade school.

Steve:

When Serena said that she could possibly go to

Steve:

Princeton. Princeton is a trade school. There

Steve:

is only Yale.

Leif:

Aaron has come over to ask Serena to get breakfast with

Leif:

him. Serena first shuts him down, but

Leif:

somehow Aaron manages to convince her to go to dinner

Leif:

instead. Why, Serena? Why?

Steve:

Yeah, like, he's sweet, but doesn't seem

Steve:

very honest, and. And there's the whole, like.

Steve:

And what about this other girl? Well, I could explain that

Steve:

to you, but do you just want to go out to dinner or not?

Steve:

Like, how about you

Steve:

give me that explanation first? Like, why does she

Steve:

not want that explanation first? Like,

Steve:

because.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Does this smell like chloroform?

Steve:

Yeah, he's,

Steve:

Jean-Paul: He's got something.

Steve:

Like, he's striking me the wrong

Steve:

way.

Leif:

He's rich. Stop. Let's not forget that that is true.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: And licorice.

Leif:

I mean, yeah, he keeps stale licorice

Leif:

around his house.

Steve:

He does keep stale licorice for up to

Steve:

or. Or at least nine years.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Yeah.

Steve:

Who knows when he started?

Leif:

She has.

Leif:

As Aaron leaves Blair, Blair runs

Leif:

in, excitedly tells Serena that Emma talked her up to the dean,

Leif:

and it looks like Blair will get into Yale after all.

Steve:

good job, Blair.

Leif:

Yay for Blair.

Steve:

Yay for Blair. I'm happy for her.

Leif:

In Brooklyn, Dan and miss the jenny's success has

Leif:

convinced him to turn in the story about Chuck

Leif:

bass or Charlie Trouthenne. Rufus shows everyone

Leif:

where Dan gets his judgmental side.

Leif:

Oh, by the way, jenny has moved out.

Steve:

Yeah. Rufus can't handle being

Steve:

a no hit wonder.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Wow.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

Yeah. Super. Yeah, you can definitely see where Dan gets

Leif:

it.

Steve:

Yeah. Yeah.

Leif:

And of course, the father of the year. Once again, he doesn't even

Leif:

notice his daughter moved out.

Steve:

Yeah. Yeah, you might be a little late for that.

Leif:

Daddy clearly noticed.

Leif:

Yeah, he didn't say, and he didn't. Yeah, Rufus.

Steve:

Like, yeah, Jenny left early this morning.

Leif:

And he didn't tattle.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

He didn't just let her go.

Leif:

No. New tale to tell by love and

Leif:

rockets plays over an episode closing

Leif:

montage. Rita and Blair are laying in bed

Leif:

looking over the Yale course catalog. Nate is sending a

Leif:

letter to Jenny. Dan is sending a story to Noah

Leif:

Shapiro. Rufus is on the verge of tears, looking

Leif:

around at Genti's any room, and Jenny

Leif:

is dragging her bags down the street.

Leif:

SMB are headed to Yale. Nate's headed out of town,

Leif:

and Dan's headed for trouble.

Leif:

As for little J, she's nowhere to be

Leif:

seen. That's the episode.

Steve:

Yeah. Yeah.

Leif:

I really like the blair at Sarita. That was very cute.

Steve:

yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Leif:

And, you know, we already kind of thought they had

Leif:

dad. We see a dad mailing the story, so he's

Leif:

definitely in now.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

Dark dance here. And, ah, Jenny is, homeless.

Steve:

Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: I mean, is she homeless or is she gonna just go live with a friend?

Steve:

Jean-Paul: She's a runner.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: I mean, she's got all those. Those, phone calls to recur pro.

Steve:

Yeah. From all those people? Somewhat.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Someone will give her some money.

Leif:

Steve, any predictions for next week?

Steve:

Well, no. Nate is my first

Steve:

prediction for. So I do know that there will be a

Steve:

Dan Serena interaction. I know that they're

Steve:

going to have an episode. I'm assuming that it's going

Steve:

to have something to do with Eren. I'm hoping that we're

Steve:

wrapping that up soon. And, yeah,

Steve:

other than that, I don't really have much of a prediction. I

Steve:

just.

Leif:

Any ideas where Jenny goes from here?

Steve:

Well, I'm thinking that Jenny is going

Steve:

to. I do believe she's going to start making some

Steve:

of those contacts that are reaching out for her,

Steve:

maybe even Lily. I could see her turning to

Steve:

Lily because Lily's cooler than

Steve:

rufus. I honestly would.

Steve:

Until we were talking earlier, I kind of wrote her off for an

Steve:

episode or two because I kind of figured that they

Steve:

would give a little bit of that. She's

Steve:

missing. Where is she? Before really

Steve:

taking her further.

Leif:

So let's go ahead and move into some

Leif:

segments. I'm going to be perfectly honest and admit

Leif:

that I totally forgot to woke up this week in fan. So we're

Leif:

just going to skip ahead to episode grades.

Steve:

We lied in the intro. We brought you

Steve:

all the way here, and then we lie. we pulled a

Steve:

lost on you.

Leif:

No phantom news this week, and my memory is

Leif:

not quite clear what happened. people were

Leif:

probably pissed off at Rufus. They're probably pissed off at

Leif:

Vanessa, probably mad at Dan. Yeah, they're probably mad at

Leif:

Dan. They're probably happy that Larry, that she loved

Leif:

Chuck, but frustrated, they can't love it, admit it to each other.

Steve:

Still, there'd probably be some mixed

Steve:

Jenny love and hate on the fashion show.

Leif:

She's a very mixed character.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

So let's go ahead and get into some episode

Leif:

grades.

Leif:

Steve, you are up this week. So what first this week,

Leif:

what do you got?

Steve:

I gave this one a b. I liked the

Steve:

a storyline. I didn't hate the b

Steve:

storyline, despite it being weird. And

Steve:

then the Rufus stuff was just kind of

Steve:

sucked. But I didn't hate this episode. I found it

Steve:

engaging, at least, so I went

Steve:

b. John Paul.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Well, I gave it a c.

Steve:

I really felt that this episode was kind

Steve:

of all over the place. The whole chasing around the little

Steve:

runt kid trying to lose her virginity, the

Steve:

fashion show and just the

Steve:

acting was nothing the best for a

Steve:

lot of these characters. And. And the

Steve:

writing, I don't know. It did not

Steve:

feel as fine tuned as come

Steve:

other, episodes in this season so far.

Steve:

And so it's, again, not

Steve:

the worst, but also, it was just average.

Steve:

It was just okay, you know? So definitely a c.

Steve:

I find that.

Steve:

A lot of episodes have much better

Steve:

directing than writing.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Yeah. And I was gonna say, and I know, you

Steve:

guys mentioned that you liked the scene of the fashion show.

Steve:

I did, too, but I also thought that scene was kind of

Steve:

shot orally.

Leif:

yeah, I agree with that.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: The way. The way it would look, I think.

Leif:

It was shot on the handheld.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Yeah, maybe, or. Or, like, because there's other

Leif:

things in this show when you see, like, fashion and different things,

Leif:

they're more glitzy and glamorous, and I understand because it

Leif:

was a gorilla style, that's kind of what they were

Leif:

going to, but it just did not seem on

Leif:

the level that this show does, when it comes to

Leif:

stuff like that.

Leif:

So I feel like they're trying to make it, like, I

Leif:

guess I think it was a, handheld, and I think they're trying to give

Leif:

it that kind of, like, in your face style. It

Leif:

didn't really hit, but I think I see what they're trying for.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: And again, what hit me was, like, when they showed the pictures of

Leif:

the girls of the fashion, that was cool. But when they

Leif:

actually showed the actual model Washington, that's

Leif:

where it was just, like, what? Very jarring. So

Leif:

I don't know.

Leif:

Yeah, I got, Like, yeah, I feel like they're trying to go for, like,

Leif:

that gritty style, like. Like a Friday night lights, like, with the

Leif:

handheld. Yeah, the jar. Like, the little bit of jarriness

Leif:

to it, but it didn't.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Yeah, I didn't.

Leif:

Like, I said, it didn't.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: It took a swing, but, yeah, it missed. And, like, I said, just

Leif:

the way the episode kind of just was, like, these acts

Leif:

were very kind of weird and disjointed.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Because even the second very weird stories that just,

Leif:

like. And. And also they would just kind of sometimes where

Leif:

they would jump back and forth. Scenes at the bar.

Leif:

Now that you're. We. It's like, oh,

Leif:

I don't know.

Steve:

Didn't hit in this. There was a weird

Steve:

thing in the storytelling in this where the epilogue of

Steve:

this episode. The. The

Steve:

episode epilogue happens after some

Steve:

of the denouement of the other

Steve:

storylines. Right. Like, we have, like,

Steve:

the. We have the. The climax

Steve:

of the fashion show, and then we have the

Steve:

falling action happening during

Steve:

act three rather than

Steve:

fall. Then, you know, throughout the epilogue, like,

Steve:

it usually does.

Leif:

Like.

Steve:

Like, they just. They timed it weirdly in some

Steve:

places.

Leif:

Yeah. I'm kind of in between you guys. I had

Leif:

it as a B minus. I really,

Leif:

really like the a storyline with Jenny. Yeah. I

Leif:

love her getting her, fashion show

Leif:

off. She got her Jay Humphrey designs.

Leif:

But, yeah, the b storyline of the Emma

Leif:

was mediocre at best. And

Leif:

then the c storyline with Aaron and Sarita was horrible.

Leif:

So, yeah, B minus.

Steve:

Yeah. I think my thing with that b

Steve:

storyline was that I liked

Steve:

the team up. I didn't like what

Steve:

the. I didn't like the

Steve:

motivation. You know, I didn't like the losing

Steve:

my virginity, which I felt like they just. They needed it to

Steve:

be a. Be a big thing that's inappropriate

Steve:

for this kid to do. And

Steve:

so it just came out creepy. I felt.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Well, I agree with the creepy. I mean, you could have just been like,

Steve:

she's, going, like, going out drinking.

Steve:

That's, you know, that's a yes. But.

Steve:

But, yeah, you could have done that better than, like, I just want to lose

Steve:

my for.

Steve:

Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Because it would just.

Steve:

Yeah, it was very creepy before this other person.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Yes.

Leif:

Moving on over to stock watch Steve, who

Leif:

do you got going up?

Steve:

Okay, so my stock going up.

Steve:

I have Jenny. I know she's homeless, but she also

Steve:

has 30 missed calls. Blair and Serena.

Steve:

Looks like Yale is doing well for them. I have

Steve:

Lily going up for just being a fucking

Steve:

champion for Jenny in the end and really

Steve:

coming through. And then I had Chuck going up because

Steve:

Chuck, you know, was a good guy and wasn't a

Steve:

complete creep in this episode. He wasn't a complete

Steve:

creep. He was just a little bit of a creep.

Leif:

But the kind of creepy, like, just, you know, the entertaining. Smart.

Steve:

Yeah. Yeah, exactly.

Leif:

But he doesn't actually do anything.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

He just. He just kind of talks this.

Steve:

He does say to the 13 year old girl, let's not ruin

Steve:

this by you talking.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: He does that. You're right.

Steve:

he does say that, but he doesn't go through with anything.

Leif:

So, like, Jean Paul do you have going up?

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Definitely going up. You can tell that, you

Leif:

know, wants to be supportive. Didn't press

Leif:

charges or anything. Kind of played along with it.

Leif:

Yeah, this. This was a fact and show. Yeah, it's cool. I

Leif:

would say Chuck.

Steve:

Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: You know, like. Like you guys said,

Steve:

he wasn't his normal, total

Steve:

creepazoid.

Leif:

For me, I had Blair because she got into

Leif:

yellow. At least it looks like she's getting it to yell. I had Dan

Leif:

because, even though he had bad moments, he's

Leif:

now winning, I think is the way

Leif:

to say it. He's going to get what he wants it looks like as

Leif:

well. And again, another one. I didn't like to say

Leif:

going up, but I had to give it to Eric because he's got the

Leif:

wool pulling over Sabrina's eyes.

Steve:

Could you. Could you add Aaron to me, too?

Steve:

Yeah, he said, but

Steve:

he does.

Leif:

He does. this stock is definitely up.

Steve:

I kind of.

Leif:

And then. Yeah, it also Chuck because, same

Leif:

reasons. he's a decent.

Steve:

It's funny. Well, that. That storyline, the

Steve:

c storyline didn't even occur to me when I was doing stock

Steve:

watch. That's why I didn't think of Aaron. But you're right. He does go up, and

Steve:

I'm going to give it to him, too.

Leif:

Steve, who you got going down?

Steve:

I have Dan going down for being a complete

Steve:

fucking asshole throughout the entire

Steve:

episode.

Leif:

He definitely was an asshole.

Steve:

Yeah. I understand where you're. Why I.

Steve:

It's funny because oftentimes, you and I have the flip on

Steve:

that, where I'll see the business side of it, and you'll see, like,

Steve:

the. The fun, like. But,

Steve:

like, he was such a fucking asshole that I sent him

Steve:

down. And Rufus. I have Rufus going

Steve:

down for the parenting. I have

Steve:

Nate going down because Nate just kind of fucking lost

Steve:

everything. And I feel bad for Nate going down, but

Steve:

Nate. Nate's stock went down,

Steve:

Vanessa, because she was on screen.

Steve:

And then I also have Emma's mom going down,

Steve:

and I'm not talking about her date. I'm talking about

Steve:

misses Boardman stock. Yeah, misses Boardman stock went

Steve:

down. Those are mine, Jean Paul.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: All right, well, I have sarita going down because

Steve:

she still falls for this idiot.

Steve:

That is fair.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: I mean, like, it's just, like, come

Steve:

on. You think that she's learned

Steve:

better from falling for idiots, but

Steve:

no. So she's definitely going. She

Steve:

does have a type, but, yeah, she's definitely going down. I mean,

Steve:

I hate this, but, yeah, Nate's going down because

Steve:

he's, you know,

Steve:

homeless again. Yeah, and. And having to

Steve:

deal with whatever other than the matches. Yeah,

Steve:

whatever. In the Hampton.

Steve:

yeah.

Steve:

He's going to have to live full time at the estate in

Steve:

the Hampton.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: I mean, I know it's tough. It's really tough. It's really tough for him. So he's

Steve:

going down for that, rufus for, you know, being parent of the

Steve:

year.

Steve:

Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: I mean, we've talked about. It's just.

Leif:

Wow.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Just. Yeah. And, who else I

Leif:

got. I mean, yeah, because Vanessa had

Leif:

nothing to do, really. That was really worth a

Leif:

damn in this episode.

Steve:

Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: So she's going down, even though I still enjoy her as a

Steve:

character.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: She is going down because. Yeah, she's just not

Steve:

anything or didn't.

Steve:

I think I gave Vanessa stock up on her first

Steve:

episode, and I'm not sure I've given her up

Steve:

since.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Poor Vanessa. Yeah.

Steve:

I loved her in her first episode.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Vanessa's my puppy dog. Then.

Steve:

That's fair.

Leif:

She should have been a good character, but they just didn't add the

Leif:

writer.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: She's my puppy dog,

Leif:

which is weird.

Leif:

Which is weird. In the book, she goes to casas with everyone

Leif:

else.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

I don't know why they changed that. For me. Going down.

Leif:

I didn't have Jenny going up or down. I had her as

Leif:

neutral because she looks like

Leif:

she's blowing up, but she's also homeless, so

Leif:

she's going neutral. Nate,

Leif:

I had going down for the same reason you guys said he's

Leif:

homeless, and I. He looks like he lost his friend

Leif:

Dan. They looked like they had a good thing going

Leif:

on for a couple episodes. Serena going down

Leif:

because looks like she's going to be going down.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: It's called book rich.

Leif:

And then I had Emma going down just because she was

Leif:

annoying all episode.

Steve:

And that's fair.

Leif:

Just being, a

Leif:

dumb teenager, I guess. I guess I thought it was married

Leif:

Emma, but yeah. Yeah, I just gave her docs

Leif:

I wanted to and misses Boardman. also, I gave her

Leif:

to going down because she was challenging Rufus for being the

Leif:

worst parent in the episode.

Steve:

Yeah. Surprisingly, she actually

Steve:

succeeded.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: You know.

Steve:

Yeah. Rufus tried to get his daughter arrested, but she was like,

Steve:

I don't want to spend time with you.

Leif:

Yeah, her screen time, she. She outdid

Leif:

him.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: yeah, she's down

Leif:

as well because of that reason. I agree with you because

Leif:

you're right. first screen time, I've got nothing to do.

Steve:

Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Ah, yeah. Definitely

Steve:

work.

Leif:

And then last of all, Rufus, we talked about all that, so no need

Leif:

to elaborate.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

Going on to best outfit.

Steve:

But here's the best outfits from the.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Last episode we see.

Leif:

Steve, who you got?

Steve:

I'm giving it to Jenny for the dress during the fashion

Steve:

show, although Robin had the critique

Steve:

of. And I guess it's like a

Steve:

famous fashion person said that before you go

Steve:

out, look in the mirror and take off one thing.

Steve:

Robin did have that to say about Jenny's

Steve:

outfit, but I loved that dress. She was like,

Steve:

with the makeup and the hair, and she was like, there's too much

Steve:

punk rock happening. I loved it.

Leif:

All right, John Paul, what do you got?

Leif:

Jean-Paul: I gotta also go with Jenny, but I had that little. Little

Leif:

hat thing she had.

Leif:

Yeah. The shack.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Yeah.

Leif:

I don't know.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: It was just adorable.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

And. Yeah, yeah. So, and also she had the

Leif:

gold locket.

Steve:

Yeah.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Yeah. So you're right.

Leif:

Always got to give props to the accessories.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: The accessories. Yep. So, yeah, definitely.

Leif:

And I was also going to give it to Jenny, but since you guys

Leif:

both gave it to her, I'm going to pivot to my second choice of the

Leif:

last, minute. And, it was, Agnes's dress that. The

Leif:

tool. I wasn't a big fan of the tights. She had, like,

Leif:

camo tights, but I like the tool with the black over top of

Leif:

it and the neck tie. Like, the loose

Leif:

neck tie.

Steve:

Nice. Yeah.

Leif:

I originally did have jetty written down.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: So we all like punk rock girls is what we're saying.

Leif:

Yeah. Yeah. I have been known to like

Leif:

a punk rock girl. And that is it for our

Leif:

segments, and we're gonna get some plugs. But

Leif:

first, John Paul, thank you for joining us.

Leif:

Jean-Paul: Yeah, we really appreciate you having me

Leif:

being on.

Steve:

please, if you have anything you'd like to plug, please,

Steve:

share and let us know.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: So I have a small, little segment in the last

Steve:

roundup or podcast called

Steve:

trailer Trash, where I

Steve:

just find horrible trailers of horrible

Steve:

movies and, you know,

Steve:

see if the rest of the gang enjoys them or not.

Steve:

Lately, they have. So I've not been doing my job

Steve:

right.

Steve:

And, I mean, it's a lot of fun.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: Yeah, it's a lot of fun. It did stem from, like,

Steve:

during COVID I had a, for

Steve:

a little bit, a small podcast where

Steve:

I, called Flock, fest,

Steve:

where I would invite,

Steve:

Randy over and force him to watch terrible

Steve:

movies, and then we would talk about them.

Steve:

That's funny.

Steve:

Jean-Paul: So kind of like mystery science theater, but I didn't quite, you

Steve:

know, open his eyes. Yeah,

Steve:

a lot of fun, random musicals because, you know,

Steve:

there's a lot of crazy stuff out there, like the

Steve:

apple.

Steve:

That's great.

Leif:

we'll make sure to get the links in the show notes to

Leif:

check those out, folks. Steve, what are you

Leif:

plugging?

Steve:

so I'm not sure exactly when this is coming out, but

Steve:

I'm pretty sure it's before October, right? So,

Steve:

so October 18 and

Steve:

19th, I will be a part of the Lockhaven

Leif:

That was Max's place.

Oh, okay. Okay.
