Speaker:

Hey everybody.

2

:

Welcome to Sunday's edition

of the Daily Bible Podcast.

3

:

Happy Lord's Day.

4

:

Hope you're making it to church

already, or you've already been,

5

:

or you've been to church already?

6

:

I don't know anybody that

listens to us post church.

7

:

Yeah.

8

:

We're the kind of thing that

people do first thing in the

9

:

morning, and if they don't do it,

probably not gonna come to it.

10

:

Yeah.

11

:

'cause they're like, we

already got enough church.

12

:

Too much.

13

:

We've been there, we heard enough.

14

:

Too many pastors in my

life don't need that many.

15

:

Let's yeah let's be done with them.

16

:

Yeah.

17

:

So hopefully you are

on your way to church.

18

:

You're gonna preach

for me again this week.

19

:

Sure.

20

:

Okay.

21

:

Just gotta gimme at least

50 minutes heads up.

22

:

Okay.

23

:

Will do.

24

:

Yeah, you can do that.

25

:

That'd be great.

26

:

I'll do that.

27

:

We're back in first Peter

continuing the series and

28

:

looking at only two verses today.

29

:

But just as long as sermon.

30

:

Just as long as sermon, if not more.

31

:

Whoa.

32

:

So don't get excited, but

it's child dedication Sunday.

33

:

Oh.

34

:

But I did take out a worship song for you.

35

:

You, so I think that should

buy you a little bit of time.

36

:

I appreciate that, man.

37

:

Yeah.

38

:

At least five minutes.

39

:

That's good.

40

:

I'll utilize those five minutes.

41

:

So we hope so.

42

:

Yeah.

43

:

Yeah.

44

:

Quite a handful of of

kiddos being dedicated.

45

:

All boys.

46

:

How many?

47

:

I think we've got six or seven.

48

:

Six.

49

:

No way.

50

:

Yeah, that's more than I expected.

51

:

Yeah.

52

:

Okay.

53

:

Yeah, I probably should

take out another song then.

54

:

Yeah.

55

:

There's a couple of 'em.

56

:

Same family though, oh, okay.

57

:

It'll go quick.

58

:

Two birds, one stone, that,

the Chipotle line situation.

59

:

Roll 'em on through quickly.

60

:

Yeah, just roll 'em straight on through

'em at charge extra for the guacamole.

61

:

That'd be nice.

62

:

Which is weird that we do that with

child indications, it's just a thing.

63

:

It's a thing.

64

:

It's our thing.

65

:

Yeah.

66

:

Here's guacamole.

67

:

Yeah, looking forward to that.

68

:

We've got 1 0 1 today too after church.

69

:

So if you're new with us and you've

been tuning into the podcast and you

70

:

haven't been to a one-on-one, we'd

invite you to stick around for that.

71

:

That'd be good.

72

:

Feed you, we'll provide lunch

for you and give you an idea of

73

:

who we are and what we're about.

74

:

We only go about an hour

or two, if even that.

75

:

Sometimes we're out by like 45 minutes.

76

:

Our last one went longer, but that was

'cause people had so many questions.

77

:

There was too many

questions, which was great.

78

:

Kept us going.

79

:

Six hours went by pretty quickly though.

80

:

It did all things considered.

81

:

Yeah.

82

:

Did not feel like six hours.

83

:

Yeah.

84

:

So it is a platform though, a chance for

you to ask questions, to find out, who

85

:

we are, why we do things the way we do,

and where you can fit with our church.

86

:

And we feel like you probably

will fit with our church.

87

:

Oh, for sure.

88

:

Yeah, we think that you'll fit.

89

:

Yeah, we know you will.

90

:

We don't have any questions

because we answered them all

91

:

over the last couple episodes.

92

:

That's true.

93

:

But here's something fun.

94

:

Here's a fun thing.

95

:

Chris Toman unleashed a new album.

96

:

Unleashed.

97

:

Unleashed.

98

:

That guy's gotta be,

he's gotta a New York 60.

99

:

60.

100

:

Yeah.

101

:

Yeah, because he's been at it, he's

been at it quite a minute and get this

102

:

is the first album I've ever seen,

and I'm sure he's not the only one.

103

:

I don't think he's innovating here.

104

:

But it is pretty innovative

for Christian music.

105

:

He's got several songs, 1, 2, 3, 4 songs

that are titled, get This, there's Emojis.

106

:

I saw that.

107

:

I don't even know what that means, right?

108

:

We're gonna sing the Hands Up Crown Song.

109

:

Praise the King.

110

:

Praise Jesus.

111

:

Praise at the bow down.

112

:

I don't know.

113

:

Praise the bird or the bird king.

114

:

Praise.

115

:

Praise the bird king.

116

:

I hope that's not on there otherwise.

117

:

Hey man, I like Chris though.

118

:

I'm telling you, I'm gonna

listen to the whole album and I'm

119

:

pretty sure he's got a several.

120

:

Songs that we will endure for at

least in the next five or 10 years.

121

:

He threw an oldie on there.

122

:

Amazing Love.

123

:

Did you see that's on there?

124

:

Oh, I didn't.

125

:

Yeah, I just, oh yeah.

126

:

You are my king.

127

:

Amazing.

128

:

Oh, that one for sure is gonna last.

129

:

Yeah.

130

:

That one is, I am, I'm thankful for

the opportunity to bring it back.

131

:

Yep.

132

:

Because there's a lot of songs that

we used to sing back in the old

133

:

day that I'm like they're old now

and I don't know if anybody wants

134

:

to listen to these or sing these.

135

:

But every now and then I

just, I long for those things.

136

:

Yeah.

137

:

No, for sure.

138

:

They, yeah, it brought back memories.

139

:

He's 53 by the way.

140

:

That's not too bad.

141

:

No, he's still really young.

142

:

Actually young now I think about it.

143

:

He's incredibly young.

144

:

He's just hitting his stride.

145

:

He's easily got 20 more years in him.

146

:

Minimum.

147

:

Yeah, minimum.

148

:

Yeah.

149

:

So he's got a new album out.

150

:

So I have this thing called Music Harbor.

151

:

Okay.

152

:

It's an app that tracks song releases,

and I know you could go to Spotify

153

:

and it usually highlights people

for you, but I just like to track

154

:

and see what people are putting out.

155

:

And so he's on one of them.

156

:

Skillet has a new live album

out, if you like, skillet.

157

:

I've only really gotten a skillet in

the last, like three or four years.

158

:

Yeah.

159

:

And I love them, man.

160

:

They're so much fun.

161

:

They're heavy.

162

:

They're not doing anything that

we could do during a Sunday

163

:

morning, but they're fun.

164

:

They have a female drummer Yes, they do.

165

:

Who sometimes leads songs Yes.

166

:

From the drums vocally, Jen Ledger.

167

:

Yeah.

168

:

That's crazy.

169

:

She's pretty great.

170

:

Yeah.

171

:

She, yeah.

172

:

She has her own band where she,

I think she frontlines it, I

173

:

think it's called Ledger now.

174

:

They say that she's pretty talented, man.

175

:

There's some really talented people

in the world, and the more I see

176

:

those people, the less talented

and skilled that I think I am.

177

:

Wow.

178

:

Yeah, it's probably pretty accurate.

179

:

Phil Wickham has a new speaking of talent.

180

:

He has a new album out, dude.

181

:

Yeah.

182

:

I'll just let that go.

183

:

You don't like Phil?

184

:

I he's drifting.

185

:

You think so?

186

:

I think he's drifting in theologically

or musically this and the other.

187

:

He's never been super discerning on who

he's partners with out there in music.

188

:

Okay.

189

:

And I find that he's partnering

more and more with people that I'm

190

:

more and more uncomfortable with.

191

:

So like Billy Graham?

192

:

Yes.

193

:

Song number 12.

194

:

Yes, absolutely.

195

:

Billy Graham.

196

:

A hundred percent.

197

:

That song features Billy Graham.

198

:

Yeah, that's what it says here, but

there's no featuring on any of this

199

:

song except for that one, at least

looking at this app that I'm looking at.

200

:

Yeah, I dunno.

201

:

He's doing that Rich Mullen

song, our God Isn't Awesome.

202

:

Got yeah, that was great.

203

:

That's a great song.

204

:

That's super good.

205

:

I have that one.

206

:

He's got an acoustic version of that,

which is super, super catchy too.

207

:

Oh, cool.

208

:

So cool.

209

:

I don't know, we'll see I'm

looking forward to listening

210

:

through that whole album as well.

211

:

So maybe I'll do Chris Alman first

and then I'll do Phil Wickham and

212

:

then, 'cause I also like songs

that are not explicitly worship.

213

:

I might throw in the 21 Pilots new album

in there just to listen to that as well.

214

:

There it is.

215

:

Yeah.

216

:

Third day, just recently did a modern

rendition of Lord of All Creation.

217

:

No way.

218

:

Yeah.

219

:

Third day.

220

:

Still doing music, apparently.

221

:

I did not even know that.

222

:

Yeah.

223

:

Mack Powell's voice is unmistakable.

224

:

Anytime you hear it, it's

oh, yeah, there's that guy.

225

:

Yeah.

226

:

Yeah.

227

:

Him and the lead singer of casting crowns.

228

:

Yeah.

229

:

Or hall.

230

:

Yes.

231

:

Yeah.

232

:

Casting crowns.

233

:

I miss them.

234

:

They're, I liked them a lot more than

third day, no offense to third day.

235

:

I liked them as well.

236

:

Yeah.

237

:

But casting crowns, I feel like

everything they did was a bop.

238

:

Loved it.

239

:

It's such a cool story too.

240

:

He was a youth pastor and stayed a

youth pastor even when they were,

241

:

headlining their own shows and stuff.

242

:

He was like, this is my job.

243

:

My job is to be a youth pastor.

244

:

My job is, that's really

cool, to be this guy.

245

:

So he kept preaching to the students

and they would schedule their tours so

246

:

that he would be back at church for.

247

:

Church on the weekends every Sunday.

248

:

Yeah.

249

:

Wow.

250

:

Yeah, they really did.

251

:

There's a documentary that's amazing.

252

:

I can't remember if Netflix had

it somewhere, had a documentary

253

:

on casted crowns recently.

254

:

That's cool.

255

:

And he took it seriously and still

does to from what I understand.

256

:

Wow.

257

:

Good for him.

258

:

I never thought that he

felt like a youth pastor.

259

:

I don't know what that what to

say about that other than I always

260

:

heard it as something my dad would.

261

:

Yeah.

262

:

If my dad went to church, but it was one

of those kinds of, it was dad's band.

263

:

Yeah.

264

:

I still liked him though.

265

:

They had really great lyrics.

266

:

Yep.

267

:

Stephen Curtis Chapman too.

268

:

He's still out there.

269

:

He's on tour right now.

270

:

Is he doing new music or

is he doing all the oldies?

271

:

I coming here, he's doing his

old, his speechless tours.

272

:

It's from his album.

273

:

Speechless.

274

:

Yeah.

275

:

So when you got all those bops, man,

you don't need to do new stuff, dude.

276

:

People just wanna hear your old stuff.

277

:

He has.

278

:

Had a hundred chart toppers, I think.

279

:

And wow.

280

:

A couple years ago he was putting

out, he was revisiting all of them

281

:

on Instagram and talking about the

stories behind the songs and stuff.

282

:

That's really cool.

283

:

Yeah.

284

:

That's fun.

285

:

And it's fun for the people that

heard the songs as part of the, like

286

:

their childhood, their youth, and

then getting to hear it later on.

287

:

In fact, I'm finding that a

lot of artists that we grew up

288

:

with are now touring for us.

289

:

Yeah.

290

:

And they're like, Hey.

291

:

Come in, come buy our merch

and listen to our band.

292

:

And it's I gotta admit, I always

think twice can I do this?

293

:

Is this, I wanna go see them.

294

:

Where's it, where are they playing?

295

:

Oh, Fort Worth or American Airlines.

296

:

I always do a double take to see

whether or not I can go see these bands.

297

:

'cause I grew up with them.

298

:

Yeah, we were talking the

other day in the office.

299

:

Modern music.

300

:

Like I have zero clue what's

on the radio right now.

301

:

'cause we nobody listens to the radio.

302

:

That's part of it.

303

:

Yeah.

304

:

And unless you're streaming

them, which I'm not going out

305

:

there listening to no, what's the

latest, best, pop music out there.

306

:

So I'm pretty much just living back in

the early two thousands, late nineties and

307

:

hanging out there with most of my stuff.

308

:

Yeah.

309

:

I gotta wonder what it's gonna

be like for our children.

310

:

What's it gonna, I, there are songs that

formed us and shaped us because they were.

311

:

Everywhere.

312

:

Yeah, were ubiquitous on the radio

and then everyone had a cd and

313

:

so when you'd go to a trip on the

student ministry bus, they put the

314

:

CD player on with the same songs.

315

:

It's not that anymore.

316

:

I'm sure there's a shared catalog.

317

:

I just am less clear how that happens.

318

:

I know that you choose stuff on Spotify,

so like Fort Frank, he'll be part of

319

:

a lot of our young people's story.

320

:

Yeah.

321

:

His songs, they're uplifting, they're fun,

and partly because they're choosing that.

322

:

But how does someone else break into that?

323

:

I think in the world, a lot of

it, like TikTok videos will make

324

:

a song popular because a bunch

of people will use that song.

325

:

Social media, something will take off a

reel or something will take off on with

326

:

that song in the background, and then it

becomes that's the cool song or whatever.

327

:

You're right.

328

:

I think TikTok does play a role.

329

:

Social media as a whole plays a big role.

330

:

Yeah.

331

:

Which is why it's such a mixed bag.

332

:

There are good things that

it brings to the table.

333

:

There's also a lot of bad.

334

:

Yeah, there is.

335

:

Yeah.

336

:

Let's jump into our DBR for today.

337

:

We are in Nehemiah eight through

10, so there's nine minutes on that.

338

:

We, and we thought we had nothing.

339

:

Oh, yeah.

340

:

We always have something.

341

:

Let's just roll Nehemiah eight through 10.

342

:

We've got as we're reading the law.

343

:

With the people here in chapter

eight, and now this is a sign of

344

:

revival because he's gonna do this.

345

:

He's gonna read for a long time.

346

:

But this is a sign that the people are

serious about what he's doing here.

347

:

And so as he stands up and reads the

law, and notice he does so on a platform.

348

:

He stands on a stage.

349

:

That's one of the reasons why

we preach from a stage, is it's

350

:

modeled for us in scripture.

351

:

And it's a way not to honor the man, but

to honor the word, to honor that which is.

352

:

Being proclaimed.

353

:

And you'll see here that those that

gathered to hear in verse three were

354

:

those who were the men, the women,

and those who could understand.

355

:

So there was probably those that were of

an age that they were able to comprehend.

356

:

What Ezra was reading there.

357

:

So I don't know if they had kids, men,

and somebody was taking care of those that

358

:

were too young to understand at the time.

359

:

But they brought their children even

there, that were capable of following

360

:

along with what Ezra was gonna be doing.

361

:

And they all gather together

here in Chapter eight, four,

362

:

the hearing of the war.

363

:

And again, they're gonna honor it.

364

:

He opened the Bible before the

people, and the people stood, he

365

:

opened the word, not the Bible

necessarily, but the word of God.

366

:

He opened the Torah, the

scroll, and the people stand.

367

:

To listen to him reading it,

and they're gonna answer Amen.

368

:

Amen.

369

:

Which is agreeing.

370

:

We say it at the end of our prayers,

but it's basically saying, yes, let

371

:

this be and they lift up their heads,

they bow their heads and they worship

372

:

before the Lord in response to the

reading of the word after this.

373

:

It's interesting 'cause in verse

eight they begin to explain it.

374

:

So here we see an evidence even of I

think, preaching taking place here.

375

:

Yep.

376

:

So this is a full blown revival

and the people respond in a

377

:

way that is going to honor God.

378

:

This is God's words effective

here in chapter eight.

379

:

I'm curious this morning, are you gonna

have people stand during the whole sermon?

380

:

The whole sermon, yes.

381

:

Because it seems like

that's what they do here.

382

:

Yeah.

383

:

From midday until, or from early

morning until midday, they, I think

384

:

they're standing like six hours.

385

:

I, yeah.

386

:

Yeah.

387

:

I think they're standing the whole time.

388

:

Dude, my legs hurt after standing for

just 20 minutes during the worship set.

389

:

Yeah, I don't know man.

390

:

I don't think we can do this.

391

:

I don't think they had

folding chairs either.

392

:

Oh, I don't think they had

chairs that they brought out.

393

:

Not even folding Camel.

394

:

No, no Chairs nol.

395

:

So it was probably either they're standing

up or they're sitting on the ground.

396

:

Oh, mercy.

397

:

And my guess is some of the older

folks that were there probably

398

:

took a seat at some point.

399

:

So I would think so.

400

:

Yeah.

401

:

But then again, man, maybe they

were made of different stuff.

402

:

It could been, I'm not saying

our generations are soft, but.

403

:

We're not the same as earlier generations.

404

:

That's fair.

405

:

I don't think that's fair.

406

:

That's fair.

407

:

And initially the people

are shattered by this.

408

:

They are, they're pretty wrecked over the

realization of how sinful they'd been.

409

:

And yet Nehemiah or Ezra rather,

gives them an interesting charge.

410

:

He says, don't be so distraught over this.

411

:

Don't turn this into a day of

mourning, but of rejoicing.

412

:

It says that the joy of

the Lord is your strength.

413

:

And so it's.

414

:

As though Ezra is cast in the vision and

he's gonna do this then in into chapter

415

:

nine of saying the opportunity here

is the opportunity for us to repent.

416

:

And the opportunity here is one

of joy because you do feel the

417

:

conviction and because God is being

kind to allow us by his mercy.

418

:

To hear from his word and to make

the corrections we need to make.

419

:

And so he says to the people, and that's

that statement that we quote so often,

420

:

the joy of the Lord is your strength.

421

:

That's in the context of them

being wrecked over their sin.

422

:

And he's saying there's

a way forward here.

423

:

And the way forward is

not just to be woe is me.

424

:

We're undone Isaiah six before

the atonement situation.

425

:

The way forward is to say, okay,

let's do what God wants us to

426

:

do, and that is, let's obey him.

427

:

Let's repent and we can do that.

428

:

Because of the word of God,

because of his mercy towards us.

429

:

And that's where we get into chapter nine.

430

:

And here's another Chapter nine you

mentioned what was the end moniker.

431

:

END nine.

432

:

END nine.

433

:

Yeah.

434

:

So end nine.

435

:

Ezra, Nehemiah, and Daniel chapter nine,

each have a song or Psalm of repentance.

436

:

Yeah.

437

:

And this one's similar to Daniel's because

this is corporate again, this is the.

438

:

Prayer of repentance or the

song of repentance or a prayer.

439

:

Yeah.

440

:

Yeah.

441

:

And they are confessing

their sins corporately here.

442

:

And it's interesting because he the

one speaking here, Ezra goes through

443

:

and gives a bit of a history lesson.

444

:

He goes through creation in chapter

six to Abraham in or in verse

445

:

six to Abraham in verse seven,

down to the Exodus in verse nine.

446

:

You've got the wa wilderness

wanderings in verse 12.

447

:

You've got the law

being given in verse 14.

448

:

You've got, yeah, the golden

calf incident in verse 18.

449

:

You've got the conquest of

the promised land in verse 23.

450

:

You've got the judges in verse

27, and then indications and

451

:

implications of the kings as well.

452

:

And just tracing back how Israel had

been so sinful all the way through

453

:

Chapter nine is what he is doing here.

454

:

And then he says in verse 33, yet you

have been righteous in your wrath.

455

:

In all that has come upon us, you've dealt

faithfully and we have acted wickedly.

456

:

So in the confession.

457

:

They're, he's not saying,

God, you're unjust.

458

:

He's going through the history and

reminding the people corporately

459

:

saying, we have done wrong.

460

:

And then he gets to the end of chapter

nine, he says, and or not quite the end of

461

:

chapter nine, but towards the end of his

prayer, he says, you've done right by us.

462

:

Lord, you have acted righteously in your

wrath that you've poured out on us because

463

:

of our wickedness and our sinfulness.

464

:

Yeah, take note about how this happens

sometimes, and I think it's fine that

465

:

our prayers for confession and repentance

are generally more brief than some

466

:

of the, Lord, please bless my spouse

or do this good thing for my kids.

467

:

That's fine.

468

:

I understand the impetus for

most of us to naturally gravitate

469

:

toward this supplication part.

470

:

But notice that how long this chapter

is, he's traversed a lot of territory to.

471

:

Specify and to highlight the

areas where their unfaithfulness

472

:

has been most evidence.

473

:

So maybe when you're praying

and you're confessing your sins

474

:

to God, it is appropriate and

good to identify those things.

475

:

See, Lord, here's how I've failed you.

476

:

Here are the ways where

I have fallen short.

477

:

That's a good thing.

478

:

The goal is not shame because

there is no shame in Christ.

479

:

There is no condemnation

for those in Christ Jesus.

480

:

Romans eight, one.

481

:

But the goal is to.

482

:

Identify to the Lord.

483

:

Yes, Lord.

484

:

I see.

485

:

I see that this is a problem

and I'm gonna deal with this.

486

:

I'm gonna want to turn away from it.

487

:

I'm gonna confess it, and now I'm gonna

live differently as a result of it.

488

:

So take Ezra excuse me, take Nehemiah

chapter nine and let this be a good

489

:

template for your prayers when you

come to the Lord to next repent.

490

:

Chapter 10 then opens with a list of those

who end up signing the covenant who end

491

:

up being those that, that resolve together

to say, yes, this is what we're gonna do.

492

:

We're gonna move forward

in obedience to the Lord.

493

:

And so their names are recorded here

for us in Nehemiah 10, one through 27.

494

:

But then when we get into the last

part of chapter 10 we get into

495

:

some of the descriptions of what.

496

:

This covenant is gonna involve, and I

like the way that he breaks it down.

497

:

I think in summary, at least in verse

29, he, it says there to join with their

498

:

brothers and their nobles enter into a

curse and an oath to, and here it is to

499

:

walk in God's law that was given by Moses,

the servant of God, to observe and do.

500

:

All the commandments of the Lord are

God and his rules and his statutes, so

501

:

to walk, observe, and do that they're

gonna make this a pattern of their life.

502

:

They're going to constantly be

aware of and go back to the word

503

:

of God, and they're gonna obey

the word of God as they do that.

504

:

And so that's the summary of

what they were committing to do.

505

:

Okay, Lord, we're gonna.

506

:

We're gonna have our care, our

way of life, our walk, our whole

507

:

manner of life is gonna be marked

by obedience because we are going

508

:

to be constantly aware of your word.

509

:

We're gonna observe it

and we're gonna do it.

510

:

And that's good for us today too,

to say we wanna do that as well.

511

:

We wanna walk after the law of the Lord.

512

:

Of course, as believers, we're not

under the Old Testament law, but under

513

:

the law of Christ, under the law of.

514

:

Of the New Testament concept of walking

in obedience and faithfulness to the

515

:

Lord through our relationship with Jesus.

516

:

Still we want to walk

after him in that regard.

517

:

We want to observe the commandments

both old and new, and we want to do

518

:

the ones that he's calling us to obey.

519

:

Amen to that.

520

:

I love the fact that every

real revival and I think.

521

:

Jonathan Edwards said something similar.

522

:

I know he said it.

523

:

I'm sure he did.

524

:

But you here see it in Nehemiah chapter

10, that every true work of God, where

525

:

there are some, there's a question about

whether or not God's acting in revival.

526

:

We asked about that when it

came to the Asbury Revival.

527

:

Was it called the Asbury?

528

:

It was the Asbury.

529

:

We asked it about the Lakeland

Revival back in Florida when

530

:

Todd Bentley was at the helm.

531

:

We asked about revival.

532

:

A lot of times, even now, people

are saying, Hey, there's a revival

533

:

happening in America because of

what happened with Charlie Kirk.

534

:

There's a religious response.

535

:

And maybe that's true.

536

:

Really time will tell.

537

:

We don't know in the moment.

538

:

We're just trying to walk

carefully and be clear.

539

:

But one of the clear marks

of God's reviving work is a

540

:

renewed commitment to here.

541

:

You see it?

542

:

The word of God, there's a

commitment to know what his word

543

:

says and to do what it says.

544

:

And that's really a simple

and helpful concept.

545

:

And you start asking questions

about, is God working here?

546

:

Is God doing something?

547

:

I see people raising their hands.

548

:

I see strong emotions.

549

:

I see crying and perhaps people just

doing things that are outside of the norm.

550

:

One of the ways that you can tell.

551

:

If it's a true work of God is if

there's a hunger for his word and a

552

:

genuine desire to do what his word

says, that's a really good sign.

553

:

Now that by itself is

not an infallible sign.

554

:

I think there's sometimes where it

can be confusing if there's attending

555

:

circumstances, but that said.

556

:

By and large, all things being equal.

557

:

If there's a care for the word

of God and there's a desire to do

558

:

what the word says to focus on King

Jesus again, he's the centerpiece.

559

:

That's a really good sign.

560

:

And then you see it here

at Nehemiah chapter 10.

561

:

That's a good sign.

562

:

But also, verse 32, now I'll

just quickly mention this.

563

:

It says that they also take on

themselves the obligation to give

564

:

yearly a third part of the shekel.

565

:

And so they're committing to

support the temple, to support

566

:

the people of the temple.

567

:

And I think if you could draw parallel

and I'll hold this one more lightly.

568

:

'cause this is not.

569

:

A necessary point A to point B situation.

570

:

But I think there's a genuineness to be

generous with God's people, to be generous

571

:

to the church and to see the church do

what God has called the church to do.

572

:

A love for the word of God, desire to

do it, and a generosity to God's church.

573

:

I think those are two really helpful

marks of when God is working.

574

:

Hmm.

575

:

Let's be, let's pray and then

we'll be done with this episode

576

:

of the Daily Bible Podcast.

577

:

By the way, y'all, we only have

two more days in the Old Testament.

578

:

I noticed that man I've been in the New

Testament and I'm like, this is amazing.

579

:

Yeah.

580

:

It feels so different.

581

:

You need, I need more New Testament.

582

:

Probably most of you guys do too.

583

:

Yeah.

584

:

You should spend more

time in the New Testament.

585

:

So we're going to in fact

the rest of the year.

586

:

Alright.

587

:

In the New Testament.

588

:

God, we thank you for your

word and we thank you for just

589

:

the model that we see here.

590

:

The response to the reading of your

word and to being confronted with the

591

:

truth of your word from Ezra and from

the congregation there as they respond

592

:

in repentance and chapter nine and the

Prayer of Repentance and then chapter

593

:

10 as well, and just the commitment to.

594

:

Even as, yeah, as Pastor Rod was

just saying there we desire to have

595

:

evidence of revival in our nation that

is marked by a caring concern for your

596

:

word and a softness towards your word.

597

:

And that would transform people's lives

and that we would be able to look at

598

:

the evidence of the spirit's work and

be able to attribute it to nothing

599

:

else other than your spirit at work.

600

:

And God, we pray for

more revival like that.

601

:

We pray that would be indicative

of our church, that you would use

602

:

the word of God to bring about

change in the lives of those that.

603

:

Are a part of our body that,

that you would start with us.

604

:

That as leaders, we would

be constantly growing.

605

:

And that also as our church, we would be

constantly seeing people come to faith,

606

:

seeing people strengthened in their faith,

seeing marriages strengthened, seeing

607

:

children brought up in the discipline

instruction of the Lord, seeing students

608

:

confronted with the truth of your

word through student ministry as well.

609

:

God, use your word in a powerful way

to shape us, to be more like Jesus.

610

:

We pray this in His name.

611

:

Amen.

612

:

Amen.

613

:

Keep in your bibles.

614

:

Tune in again tomorrow for another

edition of the Daily Bible Podcast.

615

:

616
