Foreign hey teachers, welcome to the Transformational Teacher Podcast.
Speaker A:I am your host, Detoya, and thank you for being here.
Speaker A:On this podcast I will talk about faith, mindset and the importance of self care.
Speaker A:I believe God desires for us to flourish in our relationship with Him.
Speaker A:It plays such a vital role in transforming our lives.
Speaker A:In turn, it will help us to transform our classroom his way.
Speaker A:When we teach with Jesus and see things from his viewpoint, guess what?
Speaker A:Those anxieties and classroom challenges that try to trip us up will no longer have the power to do that.
Speaker A:Because God will help us.
Speaker A:He will give us the strength, wisdom, patience, and whatever else we need to rise up and teach with joy and peace.
Speaker A:Foreign hey Transformational teacher, I hope that your school year is going great.
Speaker A:Most of us, you know, we're wrapping up that first quarter.
Speaker A:We are in my district and I just hope that your school year is going great.
Speaker A:But if your school year so happens to be challenging, I want you to know that I am praying for you.
Speaker A:And some years school can be challenging.
Speaker A:And the thing is that even in those challenging times, guess what?
Speaker A:God is still faithful.
Speaker A:God is still there to help you.
Speaker A:It even says in Isaiah 43, verse 2, when you go through deep waters, I will be with you.
Speaker A:When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown.
Speaker A:When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burnt up, the flames will not consume you.
Speaker A:So know, even if you're going through a challenge, know you are not alone.
Speaker A:God is right there with you.
Speaker A:And the amazing thing is, God is there with us.
Speaker A:But God has also placed people in our lives to, to help us in those challenging times.
Speaker A:You know, just as people are there to celebrate you, he also has people there to help you in those moments of difficulty.
Speaker A:So make sure you are allowing people in.
Speaker A:But when you allow people in, make sure it's the right people.
Speaker A:Because you want to make sure you are surrounding yourself around people that are going to help you see things from God's perspective and are going to help you get through through the situation, not soak in the situation, but find the promises that God has for you.
Speaker A:And also when we are teachers, you know, you want to seek out some professional development that's going to help you grow in that area of difficulty.
Speaker A:And I say all of this to say because this school year, for me personally, it has been challenging.
Speaker A:It has been challenging with classroom behavior, just doing a new curriculum.
Speaker A:This year, it has been more difficult than what I thought it was going to be.
Speaker A:And then on top of that, life has been challenging.
Speaker A:But through it all the things that I have learned is God is still faithful.
Speaker A:God is still there right with me.
Speaker A:God is with me in the hills and the valleys.
Speaker A:And I am so thankful that he is right there for me.
Speaker A:And I'm learning also to, to be thankful in all things.
Speaker A:I'm learning to try to see the good in every day.
Speaker A:So even on those days that have been very, very challenging, because I have had some days that have been very challenging, I have had some days to where I shed some tears.
Speaker A:But I am trying to see what is it on that day that I still can thank you for, God, because I know there's some things I can thank you for.
Speaker A:One, you woke me up.
Speaker A:And I'm thankful for that.
Speaker A:So just know even in those difficult moments, God is still there.
Speaker A:God still desires to help you.
Speaker A:And know, teachers, if God has called you in this season to teach, know that he can give you the grace, he can give you the resources that are needed to help you along this journey.
Speaker A:And just, I want you to really stay encouraged, you know, keep yourself, you know, in God's word, allow God's word to strengthen you, to build you up.
Speaker A:And just like it says in Philippians chapter 4, verse 19, but my God shall supply all your need according to his riches and glory by Christ Jesus.
Speaker A:That is one thing that I am standing on this year, God, whatever it is I need on today, I know you will supply me with it.
Speaker A:So, so God, please supply me with the things that I need on this day.
Speaker A:Because some days we don't know what we need, but God knows what we need.
Speaker A:So God, whatever it is I need, please give it to me.
Speaker A:And also keeping Philippians chapter 4, verse 13 before me, I can do all things which he has called me to do through him who strengthens and empowers me to fulfill his purpose.
Speaker A:I am self sufficient in Christ's sufficiency.
Speaker A:I am ready for anything and equal to anything through him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.
Speaker A:So know that God can infuse you with the strength to keep going inside that classroom each day and making a difference.
Speaker A:And that is one thing I will say.
Speaker A:There has been days where I have not wanted to personally go inside the classroom.
Speaker A:But I sit back and I think, just as Jesus went to the cross for us, he endured some pain.
Speaker A:He endured a lot on our behalf.
Speaker A:But guess what?
Speaker A:Jesus fulfilled the assignment that was given to Him.
Speaker A:So just like he fulfilled the assignment, although yes, he might have had some challenges, he might have had things that happened to him, but.
Speaker A:But he fulfilled it.
Speaker A:So if he did it, I need to fulfill the assignment that the Father has given to me to do.
Speaker A:And one of the things he has called me to do in this season is to teach.
Speaker A:And so teaching is a part of my ministry.
Speaker A:No, teaching is not all of who I am, but it is a piece of me.
Speaker A:And in this season, he has called me to teach these group of kids that are in my classroom.
Speaker A:And so I now have to say, well, okay, God, these are the students you have given to me.
Speaker A:Show me what it is that I need to do so I can help them.
Speaker A:Actually, no, not I.
Speaker A:So we can help take them to where they need to get to by the end of this school year.
Speaker A:Now, through this school year so far, like I said, it's been challenging, but I have seen growth in myself.
Speaker A:I have seen growth in some of my students.
Speaker A:And at the beginning of the year, I was not able to get through a lesson.
Speaker A:I am now able to get through lessons more than I was able to before.
Speaker A:Some days in the past, I would have students not sitting down and listening to the lesson.
Speaker A:Now I have more of them sitting down, and they're actually obtaining the information that I'm teaching.
Speaker A:And now, of course, I still have some things going on here and there.
Speaker A:I actually have a few things that I have never experienced before, you know, taking place in the classroom.
Speaker A:But the thing also with that is I'm learning even the more to allow people in.
Speaker A: ike I mentioned, you know, in: Speaker A:But I'm going to tell you all this year, it's even going to a whole nother level of just walking in more humility because I really started feeling like, okay, I've been teaching for so long, but I really felt like a new teacher at the beginning of the school year.
Speaker A:And I, I once I sat back and looked at it, I believe part also was because we are doing a new curriculum at that.
Speaker A:And this curriculum is my first time doing it.
Speaker A:And it's a little bit more difficult than what I thought.
Speaker A:And I think the thing too is with a new curriculum and then having students that are challenging, it just isn't.
Speaker A:It wasn't meshing well.
Speaker A:But I say all that to say that even though these things are happening, I know God is building my capacity.
Speaker A:I know God will whatever his next level is.
Speaker A:For me, it's.
Speaker A:I have to go through this in order to get to that next level.
Speaker A: And just like in: Speaker A:So I know that this is a pruning process.
Speaker A:It's a growing process.
Speaker A:And I am up for the challenge because I'm not going to give up because God has called me to do it.
Speaker A:And like I said, I don't like, naturally everything that takes place in the classroom, but I'm learning to really look at it from God's perspective.
Speaker A:And one thing that God told me one Friday morning, I had woke up, it was around 4:16.
Speaker A:I typically get up at 5 o'.
Speaker A:Clock.
Speaker A:And so I was like, I don't want to get up.
Speaker A:I want to go back to sleep.
Speaker A:Sleep.
Speaker A:And especially I had, you know, been having some sleep challenges and everything like that.
Speaker A:And so I was really like, no, please let me go back to sleep.
Speaker A:But I kept hearing the Holy Spirit say, get up.
Speaker A:And so I got up.
Speaker A:And when I got up, God showed me me.
Speaker A:He showed me what was inside of me and what he showed me.
Speaker A:It was like an ouch moment.
Speaker A:But even in that ouch moment, it turned out to be such a sweet, sweet moment for my Father, because he showed me what it is that I need to do in order to get through this season that I'm in.
Speaker A:So I want to share some of that with you.
Speaker A:One of the things that he told me was that I needed more compassion.
Speaker A:So he took me to Colossians, chapter three, verse 12.
Speaker A:And I'm going to read it to you the way that he gave it to me.
Speaker A:So he said, today I put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
Speaker A:I have the power to endure whatever injustice or unpleasantness comes with a good temper.
Speaker A:And I looked up the word unpleasantness and it says, the quality or state of being unpleasant.
Speaker A:An unpleasant situation, experience or event.
Speaker A:Synonyms of unpleasantness, painfulness, distastefulness, discomfort, inconvenience, difficulty, trouble.
Speaker A:And that is what I have naturally been experiencing throughout this school year.
Speaker A:And I'm like, God, there has to be more.
Speaker A:Then he sent me to Colossians, chapter 3, verse 14.
Speaker A:It says, I put on and wrapped myself in unselfish love.
Speaker A:Then I heard that I need to, to see the best for my students, seek the best for my students, see what it is that God has for their life.
Speaker A:See them from his perspective and not my own.
Speaker A:Then Colossians, chapter three, 15, it says, I let the peace of Christ, the inner calm of one who walks daily with Christ.
Speaker A:God, I receive the inner calmness you have for me.
Speaker A:On this day, I. I display calmness in any situation that comes my way.
Speaker A:It is the controlling factor in my heart.
Speaker A:The word of Christ has a home within me.
Speaker A:It dwells in my heart and my mind.
Speaker A:Colossians, chapter 3, verse 17.
Speaker A:Everything you do, do it in the name of the Lord and in dependence on him.
Speaker A:So I have to be dependent on my heavenly Father.
Speaker A:Father, I have to work unto the lord.
Speaker A:Colossians chapter 3.
Speaker A:23 and then I heard, apart from me.
Speaker A:And this is what God was saying.
Speaker A:So, apart from God, you cannot do this.
Speaker A:It will be a mess.
Speaker A:It will fall apart.
Speaker A:So you have to stay connected.
Speaker A:So he took me to John 15.
Speaker A:1.
Speaker A:And it says, Jesus is the vine, you are the branch.
Speaker A:You must stay connected to Toyah to grow and produce fruit.
Speaker A:Remove everything from me, God, that does not bring forth good fruits.
Speaker A:Prune me, Father, so I can bear more fruits, richer and finer fruit Remain in me, Detoya, and I will remain in you.
Speaker A:Stay connected.
Speaker A:You cannot bear fruit if you disconnect yourself from.
Speaker A:From me.
Speaker A:If you remain in me and my words remain in you.
Speaker A:Detoya.
Speaker A:Let us be vitally united.
Speaker A:Let my message live in your heart, Detoria.
Speaker A:And you can ask whatever you wish, and it will be done.
Speaker A:Don't forget my word.
Speaker A:In those stressful, challenging moments that arise.
Speaker A:Remember what I have told you.
Speaker A:Remember the promises that I have given to you when you do this.
Speaker A:Detoya.
Speaker A:My Father is glorified and honored by this.
Speaker A:When you bear much fruit and prove yourself to be his true disciple, stay connected to Toya.
Speaker A:Don't let situations pull you away or cause you to grow weary.
Speaker A:You have an assignment to fulfill, and you need to fulfill it with the best version of yourself.
Speaker A:And that comes when you stay clear, connected to me.
Speaker A:You will operate in the spirit, in the manner I have made you in.
Speaker A:And then he took me to Ephesians 2:10.
Speaker A:For I am his workmanship, his own masterwork, a work of art created in Christ Jesus, reborn from above, spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used for good works which God prepared for us beforehand, taking paths which he set so that we would walk in them, living the good life, which he prearranged and made ready for us.
Speaker A:Detoya.
Speaker A:I have loved you just as the Father has loved me.
Speaker A:Remain in my love, Detoya, and do not doubt my love for you.
Speaker A:Detoya.
Speaker A:And that was John 15, verse 19.
Speaker A:That's where that part came from.
Speaker A:And then John 15, chapter 10.
Speaker A:11.
Speaker A:Detoya.
Speaker A:If you keep my commandments and obey my teaching, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and remain in his love.
Speaker A:Detoya.
Speaker A:I have told you these things so that my joy and delight may be in you, Detoya.
Speaker A:And that your joy may be made full and complete and overflowing.
Speaker A:Detoia.
Speaker A:Remember, I am your helper.
Speaker A:I am the one that sustains you.
Speaker A:Allow me to do that.
Speaker A:Then he reminded me of one of my favorite scriptures.
Speaker A:Proverbs, chapter 3, verses 5 through 6.
Speaker A:This is actually the first scripture I memorized early on.
Speaker A:And it says, trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your hearts and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.
Speaker A:In all your ways, know and acknowledge and recognize him and and he will make your path straight and smooth, removing obstacles that block your way.
Speaker A:So we have to fully rely on God and allow him to help us navigate through those challenging moments.
Speaker A:Because again, in those moments, God is right there with us.
Speaker A:He never leaves our side.
Speaker A:And remember, if he has called you, he will equip you.
Speaker A:And in those stressful moments that you may experience again, he is there.
Speaker A:He is there wanting to help you.
Speaker A:And lay all of those cares at the foot of the cross.
Speaker A:And as you lay them there, allow God to take them away from you and allow him to give you his peace.
Speaker A:Now this is a practice that we have to practice.
Speaker A:We have to meditate on his word so we can be strengthened by.
Speaker A:We have to be in his presence so we can receive his joy.
Speaker A:We have to worship.
Speaker A:We have to do those things that he instructs us to do so we can be equipped to go inside of that classroom each day for our students.
Speaker A:They need us.
Speaker A:We have been called for such a time as this to make a difference inside of our classrooms.
Speaker A:So remember, teaching is ministry.
Speaker A:You have been powered by God to do this in this season.
Speaker A:Don't give up.
Speaker A:Let's pray well.
Speaker A:Heavenly Father, we thank you right now.
Speaker A:We thank you, Lord, just for who you are.
Speaker A:We thank you for your goodness.
Speaker A:We thank you, Lord, for your love.
Speaker A:We thank you for your faithfulness, Lord.
Speaker A:We thank you that you never leave our side.
Speaker A:So we thank you for always being there for us.
Speaker A:We thank you, Lord God, for giving us the grace, for giving us the strength that is needed, Lord God, throughout this school school year.
Speaker A:We thank you for filling us with your wisdom, Lord God.
Speaker A:We thank you for giving us your love.
Speaker A:We thank you for filling us with the fruit of the spirit, Lord God.
Speaker A:We thank you for cultivating, Lord God, those things within us that need to be cultivated, Lord God, and we thank you Lord God that we are allowing you to take away those things that are not beneficial to us, Lord, make us more like you, prune us, refine us, Lord God.
Speaker A:We want to be used, Lord God by you for we are your willing vessels, Lord God.
Speaker A:Use us as you will Lord lo on this school year, Lord help us navigate throughout this school year.
Speaker A:I pray Lord God that we truly trust you, Lord God and we truly allow you to instruct us and teach us in the way that we should go each and every day.
Speaker A:And I just thank you Lord God for equipping us, empowering us for each day.
Speaker A:In Jesus name I pray.
