Shownotes

Do you have a business idea or are you wanting to sell a current business? Have you been wondering what it feels like to pitch your business idea on the Dragons' Den? In this episode, Jennifer Kanyumwa shares her experience in building and eventually selling her business in just a few years (in her 30s) and how she got to pitch for the Dragons!

Jennifer Kanyumwa was born and raised in British Columbia but was always drawn to the African continent. She has had the opportunity to travel to Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Mozambique, Mauritius, and Egypt. Jen lived in South Africa for almost 3 years and looks forward to many more adventures on the African continent.

After graduating from UVIC with a Bachelor's in Fine Arts, her career has taken many paths from Hospitality at a 5-star resort, leading afterschool programs for children new to Canada, 7 years as an entrepreneur building, and then selling her business, to her current role as a marketing specialist.

Her heart has always been philanthropic, and she has been involved in many volunteer and fundraising efforts for local and international organizations and currently sits as the Vice President of the Willing Hearts International Society of Canada (WHISCA) board of directors.

Jen was on the WHISCA board in 2009 - 2010 but took a break due to the demands of starting her business. She is thrilled to be back and to be a part of the next phase of growth with this wonderful organization.
