Title: Should a Tip Be Guaranteed Before the Service Is? | The InSight Out Show | Ep.
Food delivery apps often ask for the tip before your food has even been picked up. But what happens when you tip generously, leave clear instructions, and the driver still doesn’t follow them?
That’s what happened to Robert, who was recovering from back surgery and asked for his order to be brought to his apartment door. When it was left at the bottom of the stairs where he couldn’t reach it, he removed the $10 tip. His wife called it petty. So is a tip a reward for good service, an act of generosity regardless of the outcome, or something in between?
Scripture (NIV): Matthew 7:12 – “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you.”
Reflection Questions:
Was Robert right to remove the tip when his instructions weren’t followed, or should generosity have won out anyway?
When someone lets us down, how do we balance fairness with grace?
