A man has a code. And his code is foiled by, I don’t know, is it love and joy or Bisquik? Or is it the combination of all three? Does it have to be Bisquik? What if you use another brand of biscuits? (Bite your tongue!)

All three of us Geek Girls agree that season 5 of “Fargo” is up there as a favorite. If you haven’t watched it, please do note that you do not need to watch any prior seasons to acquire love and joy from this season. This is an anthology series. Each season stands alone. And, slight spoiler, this season is a true standalone in that, unlike the other seasons, it really is unrelated to the others.

At the beginning of this episode, we discuss our own code of “look, don’t touch!” This code is particularly useful when it comes to not contributing to the further destruction of coral reefs, not getting into trouble with mummified hands, and not causing future pandemics. For example, the zombie virus that will inevitably kill us all when it spills from our cocktails after melting out of the glacial ice it’s been locked in for the past thousands of years.

This is no joke. Yes, there really is a company that is selling glacial ice to bars to put in cocktails. Why, you ask. Because you’re buying it. Duh.

Then, quite timely really, The Guardian has a nice article on Jan 21, 2024, called “Arctic zombie viruses in Siberia could spark terrifying new pandemic, scientists warn.” I love their alternate term for said zombie viruses: Methuselah microbes, referring to the Biblical patriarch who lived to be 989. Still not as old as a zombie virus. But there you go.

Alien egg? Single-cell organism in your spaceship? Ancient Egyptian scroll? A button next to a sign that reads, “Push to open the seventh level of Hell”?

Remember the Geek Girl Soup code: Look, don’t touch!
