Huuuuge week for Critical Banter this week. As the title suggests, we welcome a very special guest onto the podcast - Jack Post.
Jack is a doyen of Australian commercial radio, best known for his exploits on Hamish and Andy, and can now be found on breakfast radio on The Christian O'Connell Show.
Before we delve into Jack however, we get an update from the boys as Sydney descends into Lockdown 2 and we all know sequels aren’t as good as the original. Nevertheless, Sydneysiders lost their collective minds as Sen recounts an incident of road rage in a Maccas drive-thru - someone clearly wasn’t lovin’ it.
We then finally reach around our very special guest Jack, who reveals a very startling and quite rare fact about his upbringing. We then get to know about Jack and his illustrious radio career, including his glamorous beginnings in youth broadcasting.
Our chat with Jack is quite extensive as we cover topics none of us really expected to reach, culminating in a 1v1 showdown between Jack and Post Malone, for the much coveted title of “Best Post.”
Finally this week, Jack was polite enough to stick around with us to play a new game, “Nostalgia Remix,” where we pitted Jack up against Ro and Kush in a battle of musical knowledge and memory - two areas in which Ro and Kush severely lack.
In this edition of the game, we cover anthems of the 2000’s, songs which any Gen-Zer would consider to be a bop.
Also this week: Sid from Toy Story 2, Saffron_83, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater and Flo-Rida.
Segments this week:
The Logue: Tired of reaching around each other (at least on the podcast), the boys have instead decided to reach around the week’s news stories, events and viral trends.
The Reach-Around: To show gratitude and respect to our guest, and like all good hosts should do, the boys get around the guest in the most homoerotic segment in podcasting.
Nostalgia Remix: In this simple game, the boys and guests are given the title and artist of popular, generation defining songs. They must then guess the year in which these songs were released.
