Klaudia:

Hello happiness seekers, welcome back. This is 26 day boost where each day I'm sharing a quick science backed happiness tip. One for every letter from A to Z.

Inspired by my book the Alphabet of Happiness and today's letter, very special, it's O for ordinary. That is to take notice of simple joys, to live longer. We live in the world where the extraordinary is absolutely elevated on a pedestal.

Where the ordinary is perceived as average, mundane or boring.

The background noise that we see around us is often featuring exceptional people making fortunes, changing the world, buffing in fame, having unique talents and being heroes. But actually, despite what media may portray, being behind every extraordinary life are the ordinary moments.

Everyday activities that we regularly experience that are not different, special or unexpected. And yet they are precious to us. And actually, ordinary moments are the pinnacle of happiness.

A cup of tea in the morning, a hot bath with bubbles, a comfy bed. They often may seem obvious, boring and taken for granted. But these moments make us feel safe, content and happy every day.

Studies show that ordinary moments are key to sustaining happiness over time.

Having the ability to really savior the ordinary moments and pleasures and appreciate those is one of the most effective way to to boost your daily happiness and also wait for it. People who cherish ordinary moments tend to live longer. Very interesting, very interesting there.

So in the Alphabet of Happiness I explore why, despite the importance of the ordinary moments to our daily happiness, ordinary moments may pass us every day unappreciated. And how can we most importantly change that? How can we stop taking our life for granted?

So today I encourage you to take a deep breath every hour and notice your surroundings. What ordinary moment you could be appreciating right now?

And it could be very simple, but very much pausing and stopping and really cherishing those moments. Can you look up and there is gorgeous blue sky? Are you maybe with your loved ones and you're holding their hands, truly feel their hand?

How special is that that in this moment in time, you are with them? Is it something that you tasting your favorite food, your favorite, favorite piece of cake?

Is it that you are currently at work, participating in a discussion with people? How can you really connect and generate ideas together? I mean it's. Cherishing ordinary moments is endless.

It's endless opportunity to experience that happiness. So thank you so much for listening, hope that you will really cherish those ordinary moments. In life.

We often miss things when they gone, whereas when they were there, we very much were thinking, yeah, they'll be here forever. But we know that's not the case. Remember, if you would like a summary of all the letters that we have discussed so far.

Be sure to subscribe to my newsletter on the Happiness Challenge and if you want to spread some happiness, tag people in your posts in your reflections around this boost for the chance to win one of the three signed copies of my book, the Alphabet of Happiness.
