Speaker:

If anyone out there is a parent, you know you kind of lose yourself in the

Speaker:

first five years and I feel like we've gotten through that hump and they're

Speaker:

going to be going to kindergarten, going to have more time, so what does

Speaker:

this look like more as a career rather than just putting the pieces together?

Speaker:

God, and you're killing it!

Speaker:

You need to give yourself more credit!

Speaker:

Oh my gosh!

Speaker:

You need to give yourself more credit.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

I almost just swore so loudly.

Speaker:

She really gives it to me.

Speaker:

I really, really almost just got so loud and angry at that.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

Kristen's amazing.

Speaker:

You are a business owner and you have a solid business that is

Speaker:

provided for you and your family.

Speaker:

And it's amazing.

Speaker:

You do a great job.

Speaker:

And if there's anyone else out there that's listening, that's like this.

Speaker:

And you're thinking, I'm just going to take what comes and

Speaker:

I'm just going to roll with it.

Speaker:

That's a wonderful mentality to have.

Speaker:

And that's a beautiful thing.

Speaker:

But you also, I don't want you to feel stuck there.

Speaker:

Welcome to the Know Your Worth Show, where we teach you how to think about

Speaker:

your money differently so that you can achieve your sexy money goals.

Speaker:

I'm Sydnee your money Maven and owner of Know Your Worth.

Speaker:

And I'm Kristen Sid's Dimepiece bestie team member and busy mama

Speaker:

twins here to make sure that those of us without a financial degree can

Speaker:

still level up with each episode.

Speaker:

Let's get started on reaching your next goal.

Speaker:

Welcome!

Speaker:

Merry Christmas!

Speaker:

Happy Holidays!

Speaker:

If you celebrate, Merry Christmas!

Speaker:

I know Kris and I were just talking about our celebrations, so we both

Speaker:

were talking about how our Christmases were and how much fun everything was,

Speaker:

and We hope you guys had a wonderful, wonderful Christmas and holiday

Speaker:

season and break and relaxation.

Speaker:

Woop, woop!

Speaker:

And, desserts.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

All the good wine.

Speaker:

So Kris and I have a little glass of wine here.

Speaker:

We're celebrating to our, our year, the Know Your Worth podcast and

Speaker:

all the fun that's come with it.

Speaker:

January makes everybody feel like it's a fresh start, a new page in a book, so

Speaker:

we've been talking about our business and personal goals, our sexy money goals, so.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

We got some big goals this year.

Speaker:

We got some big sexy money goals.

Speaker:

The sexiest money goals, because my sexy money goals are the sexiest money

Speaker:

goals and Kristen's sexy money goals are the sexiest money goals and your sexy

Speaker:

money goals are the sexiest money goals.

Speaker:

Because they're yours.

Speaker:

Exactly.

Speaker:

And they're important.

Speaker:

And that's what lights you up.

Speaker:

Yup.

Speaker:

So a couple of mine, we talked about some business goals and some personal goals.

Speaker:

Let's start with business.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

Sounds good.

Speaker:

So, some of my business goals are to hire, hire a new employee.

Speaker:

Know your worth is in the process right now.

Speaker:

We have a couple offers out there and we have a couple

Speaker:

new people that are starting.

Speaker:

And what I want this to turn into is that these people that we're bringing on to our

Speaker:

team are going to stay with us and they're going to carry us to the next level and

Speaker:

they're really going to elevate our team.

Speaker:

So I'm hoping that they're as excited about coming on as we are.

Speaker:

And so hiring employees and kind of really growing the business in a really secure

Speaker:

and structured way is a huge deal to me.

Speaker:

The first two years of this business, I really did myself and it was great

Speaker:

and I learned a lot and I think it really made me a good knowledge base

Speaker:

for the business and what I wanted and it gave me a lot of insight for what

Speaker:

I wanted, but now I know I can't do it myself and I don't want to do it myself.

Speaker:

So it's a big, kind of like a gut check because the employees we have currently,

Speaker:

they're like my best friends and my family and like my favorite people.

Speaker:

And so I've been really blessed to have wonderful people to surround myself with

Speaker:

that I could make my first hires from like my close knit people, so this is a

Speaker:

big step for Know Your Worth to really have people coming in that are, are new.

Speaker:

So, yeah.

Speaker:

Like outsiders that are coming into the fold.

Speaker:

Exactly.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

And it's exciting.

Speaker:

It is.

Speaker:

It's really exciting.

Speaker:

Because it means you're growing and it means that you need The extra help.

Speaker:

And that means business is good.

Speaker:

And anyone who has the chance to work for Know Your Worth is blessed.

Speaker:

So.

Speaker:

It's fun.

Speaker:

We're excited.

Speaker:

And we've all worked really hard to set up processes and systems so

Speaker:

that the onboarding and the start for the new people is seamless.

Speaker:

So I'm really excited about it.

Speaker:

That's a big goal this year is just to continue to grow in that way, keep

Speaker:

offering part time positions, but then also they're growing into full

Speaker:

time positions as we're able to just expand and bring in more clients.

Speaker:

So that's a big sexy money goal of mine.

Speaker:

We're kind of working on it now.

Speaker:

So I'm hoping that's one that we can really solidify and get

Speaker:

like the beginning of the year.

Speaker:

Another one for me is to start a 401k plan for the business and

Speaker:

for my current employees there.

Speaker:

So, We're looking at a couple of different options.

Speaker:

We're evaluating a few right now, but I, I plan on starting the 401k

Speaker:

plan for the business this year.

Speaker:

Wow.

Speaker:

That's so legit.

Speaker:

And like,

Speaker:

It feels really intense, but you know, actually there's a couple, like

Speaker:

the one that we're looking at right now is human interest is one of the

Speaker:

companies and they partner with gusto.

Speaker:

So it links really easily and it seems like such a smooth transition

Speaker:

to just get everything started.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

And it's one of those things, it's kind of simple once you get it going.

Speaker:

It sounds really intense, but after kind of looking into it, it's, it's going

Speaker:

to be a lot simpler than I thought.

Speaker:

So it feels like a big step.

Speaker:

We're still evaluating what our matching percentages will be and kind of what the

Speaker:

parameters around it are going to be, but getting that started this year so that we

Speaker:

can all start planning for retirement a little bit more and just making it feel

Speaker:

like we have like a more robust benefits package for those future employees, it

Speaker:

just makes it feel a little bit more real.

Speaker:

Intense.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Real.

Speaker:

Intense.

Speaker:

Excited.

Speaker:

So how old is Know Your Worth?

Speaker:

We're closing three years in February.

Speaker:

So that's pretty amazing that, just to lift you up for a second,

Speaker:

like you started a business three years ago that was just you.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Now you have me, Christy, Alex, other people you're bringing on.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

So you're going to offer retirement and you're moving from a space of

Speaker:

like, I did this all myself, but now I'm moving to like a higher, where

Speaker:

I'm like overseeing it and getting to do stuff that lights me up more.

Speaker:

Like, that's pretty freaking awesome to do in three years.

Speaker:

You should feel amazing.

Speaker:

I feel good about it.

Speaker:

You should feel sexy.

Speaker:

Let's cheers to that.

Speaker:

You're the sexiest person right now.

Speaker:

You're funny.

Speaker:

That's hilarious.

Speaker:

I am not.

Speaker:

But um, we can all strive for something, right?

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Let's talk about your business goal for the Maverick, the co working space.

Speaker:

This is my favorite.

Speaker:

So my business goal for the Maverick this year.

Speaker:

And the Maverick pgh.

Speaker:

com, if you're in Pittsburgh and need a place to work, it's a co working

Speaker:

space in Gibsonia, which is in the north of Pittsburgh on route eight,

Speaker:

if you're familiar with the area.

Speaker:

We have a co working space.

Speaker:

I was about to say an indoor co working space.

Speaker:

We also have a balcony you can work on too.

Speaker:

We do have an outdoor table if you'd like to sit outside.

Speaker:

It is very sturdy.

Speaker:

One of our members was out there today in the freezing cold.

Speaker:

That's questionable.

Speaker:

So we've We've parted outside too, but we have a, a nice big coworking space.

Speaker:

It's really comfortable and cozy.

Speaker:

And we're all super cool and fun.

Speaker:

It is.

Speaker:

It's really fun.

Speaker:

It's a really nice laid back environment.

Speaker:

It feels like you're at work with your friends every day.

Speaker:

And it's a really good culture here.

Speaker:

We, we really have a blast with everybody.

Speaker:

So the sexy money goal for the Maverick is to get an automatic unlocking door.

Speaker:

Like that you can just punch a code in because tell them why.

Speaker:

So the front doors take a key to get like a manual key, like key and a lock, you

Speaker:

know, and we have certain memberships where if you have an office or you pay a

Speaker:

certain amount a month, you get a key to the building and you can come in 24 7.

Speaker:

The only problem with that is, you know, we've had members that we've watched

Speaker:

them while we've cameras everywhere too.

Speaker:

So it's a very safe and secure place as well.

Speaker:

And we monitor them religiously on the evenings and in the morning.

Speaker:

But we've some members that will come in at, you know, 6 AM.

Speaker:

And so some days Alex and I were like, great, we'll wake up and

Speaker:

see somebody at the building.

Speaker:

Great.

Speaker:

We don't have to get there by 8 AM because we open up at 8 AM.

Speaker:

And but then there are some days where we're like, you know.

Speaker:

One of our members has said they were getting here early and we're like,

Speaker:

Oh my gosh, yes, we get to sleep in a little bit tomorrow, but then we wake

Speaker:

up and we see that they're not there.

Speaker:

They changed their plans.

Speaker:

We can't hold it against them because it's just, they're just coming to work.

Speaker:

They don't own it.

Speaker:

So we're like, crap, you know, and we like sprint out of bed and we run up and,

Speaker:

and it's just, sometimes it's just a lot.

Speaker:

It's like 99 percent of her problems.

Speaker:

Yeah, so I will say that the, the co working space was such a

Speaker:

blessing for me in the beginning.

Speaker:

I can't work from home.

Speaker:

I hate working from home.

Speaker:

I truly cannot do it.

Speaker:

If you're somebody out there that is just struggling at home, you are not alone.

Speaker:

I cannot do it.

Speaker:

ADHD at home is like for me, a death sentence.

Speaker:

It's horrible.

Speaker:

So the first six months of business at Know Your Worth, I

Speaker:

was really struggling and I felt like I was so busy all the time.

Speaker:

I really wasn't at all.

Speaker:

It was just that I couldn't get a schedule.

Speaker:

So the Maverick forced me to get a schedule and that's why it was

Speaker:

such a blessing in the beginning.

Speaker:

Cause I had to be here every day at 8am.

Speaker:

So I would get here 8am at my desk in my spot and I'd be awake and dressed

Speaker:

for the day, ready to go every day.

Speaker:

So it was such a good thing for me to have that routine.

Speaker:

But now because we do have such a good workflow and I feel like I am in such a

Speaker:

rhythm now, I don't need it all the time.

Speaker:

So there are so many days where I just want to sleep in just a little bit longer.

Speaker:

Especially in like the winter and if everybody could just like punch a code.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Or like, you know, the days where I have an afternoon meeting or

Speaker:

Alex and I are leaving to go out of town or something like that.

Speaker:

And now that Alex is full time at Know Your Worth too, like we can travel a

Speaker:

little bit more and travel to work, you know, so we can, it's not like

Speaker:

we're taking off all the time or we're just jet setting across the world,

Speaker:

but we can go work in other places.

Speaker:

But we still need someone to open the doors to our building and close

Speaker:

the doors to the building every day.

Speaker:

So, Yeah, that would be the A big dream of mine, big sexy money goal

Speaker:

for this year is to get an automatic door with a key fob entrance.

Speaker:

Oh, I just got the chills.

Speaker:

I just got the chills too.

Speaker:

Is this called being an adult?

Speaker:

I know, like, what a sexy money goal.

Speaker:

I could carry around so many key fobs.

Speaker:

Oh my god, so many key fobs.

Speaker:

That'd be amazing.

Speaker:

And it would automatically Yes, absolutely.

Speaker:

Absolutely.

Speaker:

And that's how Kristen and I met, was at the Maverick, so, you know, it's a

Speaker:

great place, fosters friendship, the best of friends, meet here, and thrive here.

Speaker:

We thrive here.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah, so those are my, those are my, yeah, so here we are.

Speaker:

So those are my My sexy money goals and my sexy goals for my business.

Speaker:

So I love share your business.

Speaker:

Sure.

Speaker:

So for people who don't know what my business is, join the

Speaker:

club, I don't really either.

Speaker:

But I would say it.

Speaker:

No, I would say that it started out as I was doing like a lot of

Speaker:

writing for people, but it kind of transitioned into now executive assistant

Speaker:

services and those kinds of things.

Speaker:

So I have three set clients that I work with all the time.

Speaker:

And I love what I do.

Speaker:

So I said, I don't really know how to set my sexy business goal because

Speaker:

it is kind of determined on like what those businesses want to pay me.

Speaker:

So we kind of talked through that a little bit and she said, you know, I

Speaker:

can really evaluate my service offerings analyze like how much time I'm spending

Speaker:

hourly with each business owner.

Speaker:

So those are some things that I think I need to get more

Speaker:

serious about in the new year.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Kind of evaluate, you know, what I want to make.

Speaker:

I've kind of just been like flying by the seat of my pants and

Speaker:

grateful for whatever comes my way.

Speaker:

So my sexy money goal for this year is to maybe make this feel like a

Speaker:

more concrete career rather than just like a I'm biding time while my kids

Speaker:

are young and sucking the life out of me and like finding my place there.

Speaker:

If anyone out there is a parent, you know you kind of lose yourself in the

Speaker:

first five years and I feel like we've gotten through that hump and they're

Speaker:

going to be going to kindergarten, going to have more time, so what does this

Speaker:

look like more as a career rather than just just putting the pieces together?

Speaker:

God, and you're killing it!

Speaker:

You need to give yourself more credit!

Speaker:

Oh my gosh!

Speaker:

You need to give yourself more credit.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

I almost just swore so loudly.

Speaker:

She really gives it to me.

Speaker:

I really, really almost just got so loud and angry at that.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

Kristen's amazing.

Speaker:

You are a business owner and you have a solid business that is

Speaker:

provided for you and your family.

Speaker:

And it's amazing.

Speaker:

You do a great job.

Speaker:

And if there's anyone else out there that's listening, that's like this.

Speaker:

And you're thinking, I'm just going to take what comes and, and

Speaker:

I'm just going to roll with it.

Speaker:

That's great.

Speaker:

And that's a wonderful mentality to have.

Speaker:

And that's a beautiful thing.

Speaker:

But you also, I don't want you to feel stuck there.

Speaker:

If you have a salary goal in mind, you know what you made last year,

Speaker:

and you have a salary goal in mind.

Speaker:

Okay, if I made an extra thousand bucks a month, this would feel so good.

Speaker:

If I made an extra $2,000 a month, this would feel so good.

Speaker:

So $1,000 a month, that means you want your salary to be $12,000

Speaker:

more than it was last year.

Speaker:

So have that number in your head, you know, and it might not be that every

Speaker:

month it's that or every other month that it's that you might get a project

Speaker:

that comes in that one month you're making a lot more or the other month

Speaker:

you're making a lot more, but if overall you can have a set goal in your mind,

Speaker:

that can really help dictate your path.

Speaker:

But also another, like we were saying with Kristen, she can evaluate a lot of her

Speaker:

pricing and what our hourly rates are.

Speaker:

So Kristen, we've always said is, is my executive assistant, my

Speaker:

right arm and my, my lifeblood.

Speaker:

So, whenever we first started working together, One of the things you were

Speaker:

adamantly against was tracking your time.

Speaker:

I was like, please.

Speaker:

Yeah, and I hate it I hate it.

Speaker:

I just can't I can't the ADHD like pushing that button is horrible.

Speaker:

It's horrible.

Speaker:

It is it's absolutely terrible.

Speaker:

And I completely agree like whenever Christine I left public

Speaker:

accounting and we were really getting into this We're like we are not

Speaker:

doing hourly rates with clients.

Speaker:

We're just not I don't want it to be that I have a client that's nitpicking this

Speaker:

should have taken you 30 minutes less.

Speaker:

It's just not, it's not what I'm going to do.

Speaker:

I'm not.

Speaker:

The value is there.

Speaker:

And I know that the clients that I have and the clients that you

Speaker:

have understand and respect that.

Speaker:

So I completely agree.

Speaker:

Like I, I personally don't like hourly billing.

Speaker:

I just, I think it's really frustrating.

Speaker:

I work really fast.

Speaker:

Exactly.

Speaker:

I do things quicker than the average person because I'm psychotic.

Speaker:

So like, then I'm just screwing myself over because I'm working faster.

Speaker:

Or then you have to look and say like, okay, I need to type slower

Speaker:

or okay, I need to fudge this and make it look like it lasts longer.

Speaker:

And like, you just, it's weird.

Speaker:

And so I agree.

Speaker:

I don't like that either.

Speaker:

So I'm not a fan of hourly rates or tracking things hourly.

Speaker:

But one of the things that you can do as a business owner that does

Speaker:

bill in like project by project or that bills month to month.

Speaker:

Is yourself, track your hours for just like a little bit of time, not tell your

Speaker:

clients, you don't have to talk about it or post it anywhere or let anybody know

Speaker:

or change your rates, but you yourself maybe get an ideal day where you know

Speaker:

you're going to be doing and you're really going to be in the workflow.

Speaker:

Pick an ideal day and really make it a point to track your time for like a

Speaker:

day, like one day a week or for a whole week and see what your hours are on

Speaker:

those clients that you currently have.

Speaker:

You might be surprised.

Speaker:

And then if you take what your monthly or your weekly rate is

Speaker:

for that client and you divide it out by the average, you might be

Speaker:

really surprised that you are either underbilling or overbilling clients.

Speaker:

And that's where you can really make differences and like, okay, , I

Speaker:

am working so much harder for this client than I think I am.

Speaker:

I should present this to them and talk about my value.

Speaker:

Exactly.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Maybe they don't even know what exactly.

Speaker:

And I think the other part is too, like when I first started, especially with

Speaker:

you and the other company that I work mainly with, I think I started with

Speaker:

little things, but now that I'm becoming more comfortable in those businesses

Speaker:

and those businesses are growing, I've been able to say, like, I want to do

Speaker:

more significant things than just do your schedule and schedule your calls.

Speaker:

Like with you, I've gotten to start learning how to oversee

Speaker:

like the onboarding process, which will be super fun in the future.

Speaker:

So I think being able to say to somebody like, I want to grow as an individual

Speaker:

too, shows a lot of initiative.

Speaker:

And it opens up those conversations too.

Speaker:

It definitely does.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

It definitely does.

Speaker:

If there's any business owners out there that they're not sure how they

Speaker:

can set a sexy money goal for their business because they feel like

Speaker:

it's just them or they don't feel like they have the control there.

Speaker:

Just evaluate.

Speaker:

Start to get a little bit nitty gritty with your business and, and see what

Speaker:

you can change if there is anything that you have the control over too.

Speaker:

You can look at that.

Speaker:

So that's, that's one of the ways that you can just get a

Speaker:

little bit more comfortable.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

What if you feel super uncomfortable talking about money?

Speaker:

Yeah, so, I break out in hives and I'm like, just pay me whatever.

Speaker:

I don't care.

Speaker:

And that's where I feel like I need data to support myself a lot of the time.

Speaker:

So I know that I have certain clients that it is just like.

Speaker:

Wow, they have no idea what they're asking us to do and they have no

Speaker:

idea and then the next month I got a request saying "well, hey, I had to

Speaker:

do this one task myself, can I get a credit for the next month's invoice?"

Speaker:

And I had to think to myself You have no idea how much we are doing for you.

Speaker:

Like your, your monthly rate should be significantly higher

Speaker:

and you don't know that.

Speaker:

And so that's what's really tough for me.

Speaker:

So I know with this client, I really want to be diligent about tracking

Speaker:

my hours so that when and if I decide to have this conversation,

Speaker:

I have the data to support it.

Speaker:

So if you're really uncomfortable talking about money, Being able to support

Speaker:

why you want to bring it up is huge.

Speaker:

And also know that there are some people out there that are just jerks and they

Speaker:

want you to not be comfortable talking about money, especially with women.

Speaker:

If you, if the person that you're working for is a man or is a really

Speaker:

powerful woman or really in command person, just that can be anybody.

Speaker:

But typically women have a problem with saying, I deserve more than this.

Speaker:

I, you know, and it is, it's just, you, you feel uncomfortable.

Speaker:

Born.

Speaker:

And so I think having an initial contract is huge, you know, this

Speaker:

is kind of the tasks that we agreed upon, and this is what the rate was.

Speaker:

And now we've added this, this, this, this, maybe these two tasks have fallen

Speaker:

off or we've gotten organized with them.

Speaker:

So maybe we can reevaluate them, but if, if these were kind of the initial

Speaker:

breakout of the, the tasks and the cost, and now these are the tasks, this is the

Speaker:

hours, and we're still at the same amount.

Speaker:

It's gonna be really hard for a client or someone that's paying you to say,

Speaker:

no, you still don't deserve more.

Speaker:

And that's where you're just gonna have to look and say like,

Speaker:

okay, What's worth and what's not.

Speaker:

It's always a nice way if you can go in and say like, Hey, this is

Speaker:

up for discussion, like, I want this to be a two way conversation.

Speaker:

I'm not demanding something different from you.

Speaker:

But the services that I'm offering have changed.

Speaker:

The hours allocated to you as my client have changed.

Speaker:

So our initial contract price it's time to reevaluate.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

And here's what I believe based off of my own analysis of my time and efforts

Speaker:

equivalates to this rate per month or per task, you know, whatever that

Speaker:

would be and just lay it out like that.

Speaker:

I do think that these conversations are much better in person.

Speaker:

If you can practice them in person sometimes it's nice to

Speaker:

lay out the groundwork in an email, but the tone can be lost.

Speaker:

So I, I personally like having these conversations in person, but

Speaker:

if it's hard to have it in person.

Speaker:

Send the data first and just say, Hey, I want to talk over some of these

Speaker:

things like this is what it was before.

Speaker:

This is what it is now.

Speaker:

And so that they can see that there's a change.

Speaker:

And then when you go to them, if they've tried to poke holes in

Speaker:

every single thing that you've done.

Speaker:

Well, then who cares if they're going to be mad at you for asking more?

Speaker:

You should ask more because they don't deserve you at the same price.

Speaker:

They're not respecting and valuing you.

Speaker:

And I know that's a tough conversation to have if it's like your primary source

Speaker:

of income or if it's like a big client or they're referring you to other people.

Speaker:

There are other factors to consider because we have clients that we do

Speaker:

a lot for, but they're wonderful centers of influence for us.

Speaker:

And we'd be happy to do a lot of things for them where certain

Speaker:

seasons can feel tough, but then overall, it is a huge benefit.

Speaker:

So we have to evaluate when we go and that's a delicate balance for sure.

Speaker:

But that's what I would recommend starting with is get the data behind it.

Speaker:

You'll feel a lot better if you can get the data behind it.

Speaker:

It's like that meme I sent you the other day that was like, I

Speaker:

have to start planning my budget on actual numbers and not vibes.

Speaker:

Yeah, like I just do everything on vibes.

Speaker:

Like, oh, this feels like I'm spending a lot of time on this, but maybe if I

Speaker:

actually looked at it and I was like, oh, actually this is really fair.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

And I can put that feeling to bed.

Speaker:

Mm hmm.

Speaker:

Yeah, or actually this isn't fair and then I can have the conversation.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

After I jazz myself up for like six months.

Speaker:

Mm hmm.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

So one of the other things, if you hate tracking time, is I have a

Speaker:

little stop timer on my desk and I can turn it's a visual thing too.

Speaker:

So I'll just turn the knob and it's for a whole hour So what you can do

Speaker:

is go hour by hour and it'll beep.

Speaker:

It's not like an aggressive beep It's just like a little beep So when you get

Speaker:

in in the morning turn it to an hour And at the end of that hour write down

Speaker:

what you worked on and it's beeping so you're gonna get that initial

Speaker:

then immediately Turn it on again.

Speaker:

Then at the end of that hour write down what you did and

Speaker:

it's such a minimal like Break.

Speaker:

Low effort.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

That it's not like it's going to totally throw off your whole game.

Speaker:

It's just like, Oh, okay.

Speaker:

The hour went up.

Speaker:

I can still do what I'm doing.

Speaker:

I'm just going to write same client one hour or like, Oh, I did split

Speaker:

like about halfway through that.

Speaker:

So half an hour, this client, now I'm working on this client, start again.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

So that's a good way to do it because I know it's really hard to start a timer and

Speaker:

stop a timer if it's not in front of you.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

So that's one of the things I can do if I'm really trying to track

Speaker:

my time is just set that hour.

Speaker:

When it runs out, just have a little posted note, write down what

Speaker:

you did, set it again after the next hour, write it down again.

Speaker:

So that's one way that you can track a little bit more too.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

I love that.

Speaker:

Well, let's talk about personal sexy money goals.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

What do you have?

Speaker:

Personal sexy money goals.

Speaker:

Alex and I have been looking for houses.

Speaker:

We've been casually looking.

Speaker:

Getting obsessed with houses every once in a while.

Speaker:

That is casually becoming obsessed with something.

Speaker:

Casual obsession.

Speaker:

The definition of Sydney's personality.

Speaker:

Well, internal dread is mine and casual obsession is hers.

Speaker:

That's amazing.

Speaker:

We have to make t shirts after this.

Speaker:

We do.

Speaker:

I'm going to go get my cricket out from my casual obsession with crafting.

Speaker:

Yes, we are casually obsessed with a few houses right now, but they're, you know,

Speaker:

the interest rates are tough right now.

Speaker:

And everybody says, oh, you just refinanced when

Speaker:

the interest rates go down.

Speaker:

And yeah, but it makes it really tough to think about getting approved for a house

Speaker:

when the payment's already a thousand dollars more a month than it would have

Speaker:

been a couple months ago, a year ago.

Speaker:

So right now what we want to do is just really save for the new house that

Speaker:

we wouldn't have to sell our existing house in order to get it, like fully.

Speaker:

And so I know that a lot of people can do that, and that's not unheard

Speaker:

of, but that's a stretch for, I think, for a lot of people too.

Speaker:

I think for most people that's a stretch.

Speaker:

So, I'm, I would be so thrilled if we could comfortably find a house,

Speaker:

take our time with it, put money down and not have to move that second.

Speaker:

Or we could rent our house if we wanted to and keep it as an investment property.

Speaker:

Or, you know, I'd love to have that.

Speaker:

I love our house.

Speaker:

I really do.

Speaker:

it as like a mom refuge.

Speaker:

That would be so fun.

Speaker:

Oh my gosh, like a mom reading refuge.

Speaker:

Guys, there

Speaker:

are so many ideas.

Speaker:

This is a great episode for us.

Speaker:

I hope it is for you.

Speaker:

Mom cottage.

Speaker:

That would be fun.

Speaker:

I need to have kids so I can go back.

Speaker:

You have a hot tub.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

We have lots of books.

Speaker:

So many books.

Speaker:

We have lots of fun stuff at the house.

Speaker:

We could decorate.

Speaker:

We have a wine cellar.

Speaker:

That would be really fun.

Speaker:

My sexy money goal is to make your house into a mom cottage.

Speaker:

Sounds good.

Speaker:

I'm in.

Speaker:

We can do it.

Speaker:

We can do it.

Speaker:

Anyways, sorry.

Speaker:

Back to what you were saying.

Speaker:

No, I love it.

Speaker:

I hope you're enjoying this as much as we are.

Speaker:

I know because we're really having fun.

Speaker:

So hopefully this is colored and for you guys too.

Speaker:

We can put it on 1.

Speaker:

2 speed and just get through it.

Speaker:

And then for the additional final sexy money goal for me is on the

Speaker:

personal level, it doesn't sound as sexy though, but I would like to

Speaker:

invest more in or just put more money into high yield savings accounts.

Speaker:

The way you say that just makes me feel like, Oh, I'm sweaty.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

So sexy.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

I just really want to be putting aside more money this year.

Speaker:

And I'd like for Alex and I both to increase our salaries in the business.

Speaker:

We have been very minimal with our salaries because we've wanted to

Speaker:

grow and sustain the growth with getting new employees and, paying

Speaker:

them well, that it was important to us for us to start small with it.

Speaker:

So I really would love to increase our salaries this year and save

Speaker:

more of that money after too, and just be kind of pretending like we

Speaker:

didn't increase our salaries, but watching the savings accounts just.

Speaker:

And I think it's really important for us to just kind of grow, live

Speaker:

off the same amount, and just really watch everything grow.

Speaker:

I love watching you guys grow.

Speaker:

Aww.

Speaker:

I mean, I really do.

Speaker:

I mean, for people who don't know, I'm a decade older than Sid.

Speaker:

You say it like that.

Speaker:

Well, I am.

Speaker:

Like, I'm ten years older than you.

Speaker:

So, to watch you in a different chapter of life that I already went through,

Speaker:

but to get to see you guys It makes me like a little emotional, like grow

Speaker:

your business and grow as a couple and eventually grow your family.

Speaker:

Like, Oh God, I can't wait for that anyways.

Speaker:

You know that.

Speaker:

But yeah, it's just, it's really neat to watch such a cool couple just thrive.

Speaker:

So.

Speaker:

Thanks.

Speaker:

Well, we're pretty blessed to be around people like you for sure.

Speaker:

We are real fun.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

I don't know why you're brushing that off.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

We are.

Speaker:

We're really blessed.

Speaker:

I know we've been having a lot of fun.

Speaker:

So thank you.

Speaker:

I appreciate that.

Speaker:

Well, anyways,

Speaker:

Your personal goals now?

Speaker:

Okay, so for those of you who don't know, I've been supporting our family

Speaker:

by myself for five years while my husband kind of, pursued a dream.

Speaker:

And there were sacrifices that came with that and he recently

Speaker:

went back to work full time.

Speaker:

So we're a two income household again.

Speaker:

Super proud of him.

Speaker:

He's killing it and I feel like in the next year We're gonna be able to pay down

Speaker:

some of the debt that we accrued while we were working towards a different dream,

Speaker:

have more of a savings account again.

Speaker:

And what I really want to do, I mean, we have five year old twins,

Speaker:

I really want to do more family vacations and things like that, which

Speaker:

are things that we have sacrificed over the last five years with them.

Speaker:

So it's going to be really cool to be able to do those things

Speaker:

without feeling stretched.

Speaker:

You know what I mean?

Speaker:

And honestly, vacationing with kids before five is just a nightmare anyway,

Speaker:

so I really feel like we're in the sweet spot right now where it'll be so much

Speaker:

fun and we'll be able to do it in a way that feels exciting and not like, Oh my

Speaker:

God, why do we spend money on this when they're not even having a good time, which

Speaker:

is like the worst when you have kids.

Speaker:

So I was telling Sid I'm really excited.

Speaker:

She told me about the acorn savings account, which just is an automatic.

Speaker:

I think I deposit 10 dollars from my account weekly.

Speaker:

I don't even miss it.

Speaker:

It's literally what I probably spend at Starbucks in two days.

Speaker:

Or in one day.

Speaker:

And then I do like the roundup thing with the change.

Speaker:

And already in a couple weeks, I think it said 30 days, I had 60 in there.

Speaker:

So if we go on vacation in August, I'll have over 500 that I can just pull out and

Speaker:

spend on like fun things with the girls.

Speaker:

Which will be really cool.

Speaker:

So.

Speaker:

Those are just, like, sexy money goals for our personal little family

Speaker:

union unit, but, it's awesome.

Speaker:

It's been a struggle for five years so I'm really excited

Speaker:

to have some breathing room.

Speaker:

Breathing feels sexy to me.

Speaker:

Yeah, breathing is sexy.

Speaker:

Breathing is sexy.

Speaker:

It's not a high yield savings account but.

Speaker:

Cool.

Speaker:

It's air.

Speaker:

No, breathing is pretty sexy.

Speaker:

I'd also like to try yoga this year too.

Speaker:

I think we know what I want to go to?

Speaker:

What?

Speaker:

That.

Speaker:

That class you took.

Speaker:

Aerial yoga.

Speaker:

Aerial yoga.

Speaker:

Oh, that was fun.

Speaker:

Oh man.

Speaker:

Yeah, I just did that.

Speaker:

That was really fun.

Speaker:

She sent me like three videos.

Speaker:

I watched it.

Speaker:

My kids watched it.

Speaker:

Then we watched it again.

Speaker:

Yeah, I think that'd be super fun.

Speaker:

So that's a sexy goal for Kristen and I.

Speaker:

We're going to go to an aerial yoga class together.

Speaker:

Do you think we'll go back to boxing?

Speaker:

That was a casual obsession.

Speaker:

That was a casual obsession.

Speaker:

Yeah, I have like the wraps and the gloves still.

Speaker:

Whoever wants to do boxing and join our casual obsession membership, Yeah.

Speaker:

I have boxing gloves for you.

Speaker:

That's what it is.

Speaker:

And then you return it when you're done with it.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Well that's not a good business model.

Speaker:

They're gonna get all these like kits back.

Speaker:

But they're memberships maybe for certain things.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

We're going to go offline now and we are going to plan an entire

Speaker:

business now and do a dream board.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

So cheers to you and your sexy money goals.

Speaker:

We want to know what they are.

Speaker:

So if you drop them on our social email them to us, we want to support you.

Speaker:

Absolutely.

Speaker:

Thank you.

Speaker:

Thank you for tuning in.

Speaker:

Closing out 2023 with us and we are excited for the new year.

Speaker:

And we hope to keep seeing you all here.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Alright.

Speaker:

Thank you.

Speaker:

Cheers.

Speaker:

Happy New Year.

Speaker:

Happy New Year!

Speaker:

Bye!

Speaker:

I wish I had like a popper.

Speaker:

That would have been fun.
