Shownotes
Our listenership is growing! And with that growth it brings new relationships and new experiences.
Everyone is going through their own trials and successes. WE appreciate hearing them all as our listeners take from our experiences and apply some of the things we do to their own lives helping them to become the men they want to be. In this episode we discuss some feedback from our listeners BUT the real kicker is when we realize Jeanne needs some feedback of her own live during the episode.
This episode was not preplanned or discussed prior to recording but rather an open mic conversation that leads to Jeanne getting a little feedback about how she approaches things and how structure is something she avoids when it doesn’t fit the moment.
We all have our routines, habits, lifestyles, whatever you want to call it. It’s our own way of doing things. WE took something as simple as a “coffee talk” which originally was a great thing for us, and discovered Jeanne’s aversion to it came from her inability to stop and readjust according to the changes taking place in our lives. She decided “it just doesn’t fit and I’m done with it” instead of taking a step back and realizing, it could simply be adjusted. It’s a great tool. Very useful in finding out where your spouse is mentally and emotionally. What changed for us was the family logistics. There are none at the moment as there aren’t any sports or activities with school at the moment. However, checking in with each other is still a vitally important part in our communication and in the success of our marriage as a whole.
Instead of making a weekly appointment to have a coffee talk, I chose to adjust and use the tool another way. I check in with my wife on a regular basis to find out how she’s doing. How she is both emotionally and mentally. Not the kids, not the chores, not the household daily things, but HER. That’s the “ah-ha” moment in this episode. Just because a tool doesn’t fit the situation, doesn’t mean it’s not a great tool. Take a step back and see if the tool can still be useful by simply making an adjustment according to your situation and what you or your wife needs.
