Shownotes
The Pit and The Pendulum by Edgar Allen Poe has been adapted for Suspense by John Dickson Carr. This version stars Raymond Burr. " I was sick, sick unto death with that long agony; and when they at length unbound me, and I was permitted to sit, I felt that my senses were leaving me. The sound of the inquisitorial voices seemed merged in one dreamy indeterminate hum…” The French Officer was a prisoner of the Spanish Inquisition condemned to death and in his cell a pit to which was to be his hell and alone with only the torment of his own mind awaiting the torture of the inquisition.
