Hello, darling heart, and welcome to the drink less, live better podcast.
-:
This is the podcast that helps you to see that drinking less doesn't need to be stressful, lonely, or boring.
-:
I'm your host, Sarah Williamson, and I decided to have a year alcohol free as a little life experiment and haven't looked back.
-:
With my experience in training, I now help other people with their alcohol free or drink less adventures.
-:

-:
I'm here to tell you that you can relax, connect, and have fun without alcohol in your life.
-:
Join me here each week to find out how. November.
-:
Such a sweet spot in my year.
-:
As I run up to it, I remember why I love it.
-:
October is my favourite month in terms of seasons, and December January, I love for their sheer winteriness.
-:
I really enjoy the cold weather, but November holds a special place in my heart. It's where the scaling down happens. Listen up and listen good.
-:
I'm going to say the next thing a couple of times.
-:
November. November. November. November. Got it? It's when I say no.
-:
My status quo is status no next month.
-:
I flex that no muscle really hard.
-:
This time of year is perfect because, as it happens, there are plenty of seasonal or Christmas activities to consider, but
-:
also a squillion drinking opportunities that I no longer feel the same about as I did a couple of years ago.
-:
Now, I'm not suggesting you say no to everything.
-:
If you get an invite and it feels like a full body pull towards a hell yes then you go for it. Yes please.
-:
I'd love to come to that thing, spend time energy and perhaps money doing something that fills my heart with joy, then that's an obvious yes, of course.
-:
But wait, let's consider people pleasing and the fear of missing out.
-:
Do you sometimes say yes because someone might feel upset if you don't go to something?
-:
Do you say yes because the best night out ever might happen when you're not there. Yes. I hear you. This was me.
-:
Saying no can feel like a loss, like a letdown, like perhaps you're going to be miserable, lonely, or boring, but I don't think you are. I think you're pretty awesome.
-:
I believe that you're making the right choices for you, and you matter.
-:
You don't need to hold any guilt around your November.
-:
You can explain and justify your nose if you want to, and you can slip a nice aside in if it feels right for you, but you don't have to. No.
-:
We cannot come to your Christmas neighborhood drinks this year.
-:
We have another engagement, but thanks for asking anyway.
-:
They don't need to know that your engagement is watching a Christmas movie in your pj's and drinking hot chocolate. No.
-:
I cannot bake 2 dozen mince pies for the school fair this year.
-:
Instead, I'm going to man the store for an hour on the day. I'm really looking forward to that. There we go. That's a nice compromise. No.
-:
I cannot host Boxing Day lunch this year.
-:
We're keeping the day as a small family day for a change. Beautiful, beautiful boundary setting right there.
-:
Leave the guilt, because when you are in your pjs or relaxing and not baking or hanging out with your kids instead of spending
-:
hours preparing for a big event, you'll know that you've done the right thing for you.
-:
You can say no to family, to friends, acquaintances, clients, colleagues, and enjoy it.
-:
I challenge you, say no to something this November.
