Speaker:

Hi, this is Stephanie Maas with Thinking Ahead Search Firm today.

Speaker:

I wanna talk to you about when you get the call, specifically the call.

Speaker:

To be pulled up from the minors to the majors.

Speaker:

Will you be ready?

Speaker:

This stems from a couple of conversations I've had about folks that I called in the last year or two about opportunities that were really an opportunity for them to advance their career.

Speaker:

When I called on them originally, they just weren't quite ready, and a year, eight months, nine months, 18 months later, they call me back with regret saying, gosh.

Speaker:

I didn't think I was ready at the time.

Speaker:

I missed that opportunity.

Speaker:

I see the person that was hired and what they've been able to do, and I really wish I would've looked into that.

Speaker:

So my question is, at the end of baseball season, when it's time for you to get called up, will you be ready?

Speaker:

Here are some factors that can help you decide if you are really ready.

Speaker:

First and foremost, you have to look at your current situation.

Speaker:

Are you professionally developing in the way that is gonna get you to your goals at the three year mark, the five year mark, so forth and so on.

Speaker:

If you're not, that's okay.

Speaker:

Doesn't necessarily mean you need to make a move, but you do have to decide, Hey, how long am I gonna stay here before I do decide to do something about it?

Speaker:

Secondly, of course, this has to be in line with what's going on with you outside of the office.

Speaker:

Anytime you take on something new or different, it takes a tremendous amount of emotional energy.

Speaker:

And if you've got a lot going on at home, chances are that's probably not the right time to throw gas on the fire.

Speaker:

Third thing is you have to look at the opportunity, and this is where it takes a lot of objectivity and courage.

Speaker:

It's okay to take a risk as long as it's calculated, so be smart, get your facts, and make a well educated decision.

Speaker:

This will help you know when you get the call if you're ready for the majors.
