Hosted by Heather Hester—coach, speaker, author, and LGBTQ+ advocate—this show creates space for honest conversations about identity, love, boundaries, and what it truly means to show up with courage and care.

Through a lens of parenting, inclusion, and lived experience, Heather explores topics such as:

  1. Parenting LGBTQ+ kids with clarity, confidence, and compassion
  2. Growing into a courageous, informed ally

Rooted in empathy and practical insight, each episode offers reflection, reassurance, and guidance for parents, allies, and anyone committed to building a more inclusive, connected world.

If you’re parenting an LGBTQ+ child, learning how to be a better ally, or simply seeking thoughtful conversations grounded in humanity and inclusion, More Human. More Kind. will help you feel seen, supported, and less alone.

At the heart of my work is a deep commitment to compassion, authenticity, and transformative allyship, especially for those navigating the complexities of parenting LGBTQ kids. Through this podcast, speaking, my writing, and the spaces I create, I help people unlearn bias, embrace their full humanity, and grow their capacity for courageous, compassionate connection.

For parents, allies, and those pioneering a way to lead with love and kindness, I’m here with true, messy, and heart-warming stories, real tools, and grounding support to help you move from fear to fierce, informed action.

Whether you’re listening in, working with me directly, or quietly taking it all in, I see you. And I’m so glad you’re part of this journey.

Transcripts

Speaker A:

Welcome in.

Speaker A:

I'm Heather Hester, and this.

Speaker A:

This is a new beginning.

Speaker A:

As you may have noticed, this podcast has a new name.

Speaker A:

More human, more kind.

Speaker A:

For nearly five years, it was called Just Breathe, Parenting your LGBTQ teen.

Speaker A:

That name served a beautiful purpose.

Speaker A:

It gave many of you comfort, tools, and a space to exhale during some of life's most tender moments.

Speaker A:

And for that, I'm forever grateful.

Speaker A:

But over time, the conversations began to shift, not away from love and parenting, but deeper into the human experience, into kindness and compassion, into boundaries and grief, into what it really means to love without conditions.

Speaker A:

I realized the time had come to expand the container.

Speaker A:

This podcast is still a home for parents, allies, and those supporting LGBTQ loved ones.

Speaker A:

But it is also now for anyone seeking more connection, more groundedness, and more clarity as they navigate life's most complex relationships with others and with themselves.

Speaker A:

You'll still hear intimate solo episodes, thoughtful interviews, and episodes that offer tools for real life healing.

Speaker A:

We'll talk about boundaries and about being kind versus nice, and what it means to live with compassion without losing ourselves.

Speaker A:

I hope this new space serves you in new and meaningful ways.

Speaker A:

If something speaks to you, share it.

Speaker A:

Invite someone in.

Speaker A:

And if you've been here since the beginning, thank you.

Speaker A:

Let's begin again together.
