In this month’s auditorial episode, we dive into some exciting discussions around fiscal sponsorship and how it can really benefit artists. But we don’t just stop there; we also explore the deeper connection between NOT REAL ART and its parent nonprofit, Arterial, when it comes to the role of art in our culture.
Host and Arterial founder Scott shares some personal anecdotes and reflects on how the podcast and his own artistic journey have evolved over time. He emphasizes how crucial it is for artists to have sustainable ways to thrive, without getting bogged down by commercial pressures. This isn’t just about making a living; it's about creating a space where creativity can grow freely.
Listeners, we encourage you to see yourselves as more than just consumers of art. You’re part of a community that plays a vital role in supporting and promoting artistic expression. Whether through sharing your thoughts, attending events, or even spreading the word about the importance of creativity, everyone can contribute to fostering a richer artistic ecosystem.

Speaker B:I'm here today to talk to you about our fiscal sponsor.
Speaker B:Arterial Arturial is a 501c3 nonprofit arts organization that is actually a media platform dedicated to amplifying art in the world.
Speaker B:And you know, we.
Speaker B:You may or may not know this, but you know, I have been funding all of this myself.
Speaker B:The company has been funding all of this.
Speaker B:We try to make all of our content free.
Speaker B:We do not have advertising.
Speaker B:We do not charge for you to enjoy our content.
Speaker B:And we do it because we feel called to do it.
Speaker B:It's our miss to do it.
Speaker B:We love doing it and we're happy to help, you know, or to fund it as we need to because, you know, quite frankly, we don't want to have to sell advertising if we can avoid it.
Speaker B:And yet we need money.
Speaker B:We need help.
Speaker B:And we were not a nonprofit organization.
Speaker B:We are actually a for profit organization.
Speaker B:But you know, this particular initiative.Relark.com has been a labor of love.
Speaker B:And rather than turning and we didn't.
Speaker B:It doesn't make money.
Speaker B:We don't do it to make money.
Speaker B:We do it to serve the greater good.
Speaker B:We do it for the commonwealth.
Speaker B:We do it to help artists tell their stories and promote their work.
Speaker B:However, it still costs us money.
Speaker B:And rather than trying to spin off the company and turn it into a nonprofit organization, we've partnered with Arterial 1C3 nonprofit arts organization to be our fiscal sponsor.
Speaker B:To help us, you know, create a scenario whereby, you know, you can support us and get that tax deduction.
Speaker B:We don't have to be a nonprofit to because of our fiscal sponsorship through Arterial.
Speaker B:And so that's pretty cool, right?
Speaker B:So if you would be so kind as to support our work, whether it's for a dollar or a hundred dollars, whatever it is, you can get a tax deduction.
Speaker B:And you can do that by going to notrealart.com you can do that by going to arturo.org you can support this work, help fund our podcast, help fund our blog, help fund our grant, help fund, fund all the work that we do for artists.
Speaker B:And, and so now you and others can support us and get a tax deduction for your support.
Speaker B:Now, what about Arterial?
Speaker B:Arterial is awesome.
Speaker B:Arterial's mission is really driven by three core tenets.
Speaker B:Artists are vital to society.
Speaker B:Number one, artists drive the economy, number two, and number three, artists deserve media exposure.
Speaker B:And so Arturial has created a platform really rooted in media.
Speaker B:It's a platform dedicated exclusively to amplifying art in the world.
Speaker B:Arturial's mission is to amplify art with stories that entertain, inspire, and inform the general public.
Speaker B:Arturo's vision is to make the world a more creative and inspiring place for all.
Speaker B:And so the work that we do here at not real art, it aligns perfectly with Arterial.
Speaker B:You know, Arturial, if you go to the website, you can read all about it, but it'll tell you and you'll read that, you know, really, Arterial drives its lifeblood from the sort of vast, untapped, overlooked, and neglected mass of artistic expression not found in formal settings.
Speaker B:Typically, the subject of philanthropy.
Speaker B:Artistic practice, and arts consumption occur at every tier of society in every form requiring creative expression.
Speaker B:Arturio seeks to amplify this dynamic in what could be best described as the democratization of art.
Speaker B:Arturo believes that media and entertainment is a.
Speaker B:Is a powerful way to democratize.
Speaker B:And so we're just honored that the board at Arturial decided to.
Speaker B:That Not Real art aligns with their mission and their focus really to inspire and inform and entertain a general audience about the world of art.
Speaker B:Arterial's impact really is rooted in three fundamentals.
Speaker B:Promoting artists and their work, augmenting public arts education, and supporting the creative economy.
Speaker B:In addition to supporting, you know, things like not real art, Arturo also supports filmmakers and tell, you know, TV shows and podcasting and obviously publishing, et etc.
Speaker B:Etc.
Speaker B:And.
Speaker B:And of course, as a 501c3 organization, their goal is not financial profit.
Speaker B:Their goal is enduring positive social impact for the commonwealth.
Speaker B:And Arturial is based in Los Angeles, but they have operations in New York City and Asheville, North Carolina.
Speaker B:Full disclosure, I am the founder of Arturial.
Speaker B:So we set this up so that people like you and.
Speaker B:And others and people who share our values can support not just, you know, not reliar, but.
Speaker B:But other storytellers, other companies and organizations making arts programming that help to amplify the art.
Speaker B:Art in the world.
Speaker B:So while I founded Arterial, all these decisions are made at the board level.
Speaker B:And so shout out to Arterial and the board, but also shout out to you, because again, we do this for you and we get up every day wanting to help artists tell their stories and promote their work.
Speaker B:But like I said, we, we need you to your help.
Speaker B:We need your support.
Speaker B:We can't do it without your financial support, quite frankly, at least.
Speaker B:You know, I.
Speaker B:I'm running out of money.
Speaker B:Can I be frank?
Speaker B:You know, I can't keep continuing to fund things or the company can't continue to fund things.
Speaker B:And we want to keep it free and we don't want to sell advertising.
Speaker B:And so your support for our work and our programming is, is invaluable to us and is critically important.
Speaker B:And I want to thank you ahead of time for your support.
Speaker B:And obviously we know you have your moral support, your spiritual support, but we'd love to have your financial support as well.
Speaker B:So I thank you for your consideration and I thank you for showing up again and again for us here at Not Roll Art.
Speaker B:And as we wrap up here, I just want to thank you for all you've done to keep us afloat and your support moving forward.
