Shownotes

Dr. Liza Schneider was born in South Africa. Her conservationist father introduced her to a variety of animals, and she grew up with her own menagerie of pets. After receiving her veterinary degree, she moved to Auckland, New Zealand in 2000 and began working in small animal practice. In addition to enjoying general practice and surgery, she found herself drawn to holistic therapies that could help her address the root of her patient's problems.  In 2003 she started a mobile practice that included both allopathic and holistic care. That practice, Holistic Vets, has grown from a mobile practice to a multi-doctor practice in a large stand alone facility that continues to offer the best of both traditional and holistic health solutions, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy.  Dr. Schneider serves as President of the New Zealand Veterinary Association's Complementary Veterinary Medicine Branch. She is also the Founding Trustee and Veterinarian for the ARRC Wildlife Trust, whose mission includes wildlife rehabilitation, a community cat project, and education of children about environmental sustainability, conservation, animal welfare, and responsible pet ownership.  Please enjoy this conversation with Dr. Schneider as we discuss growing up in South Africa, moving to New Zealand to practice, starting a mobile integrative practice, and growing that practice into an award winning Veterinary facility while being active in wildlife rehabilitation and education.
