Shownotes

Toxic positivity is the belief that no matter how dire or difficult a situation is, people should maintain a positive mindset and when it comes to motherhood emotions are often flying left, right, and centre. Jill and Linda think about this very concept and ask the question, can we really be positive all the time? Listen in as they chat about:

  • Why we begin each episode with highs and lows.
  • How on earth do we keep on top of organisation and housework while feeling so frazzled?
  • Postpartum reality of it not being all butterflies and rainbows.
  • Replacing positives in place of the negatives, the expectations it can place on ourselves, the idea of lying to ourselves and spiraling out of control.
  • Unspoken negatives that we may be worried to say out loud.
  • Unpacking the backpack and processing first in order to understand and address some of the negativity, helping us work towards more positive experiences.
  • We are not our thoughts. While we have negative reactions it does not define us entirely.

We would love to hear what you think and any ways that you are taking care of or mucking up your self-care.
