Nathan:

Now as they sat and ate, Jesus said, “Assuredly, I say to you, one of you who eats with Me will betray Me.” Jesus. Mark 14:18

Hey, I’m Nathan, and this is Day 30 of 30 Days Watching Jesus. Friends with a traitor. Yes. Jesus loved liberally. One of his own followers would betray him—yet he freely welcomed him within the circle of his followers. He freely shared and ate with him. He could see what was unfolding—yet he did not protect himself from it. He gave freely. Even to this traitor. Jesus’ example isn’t teaching us that boundaries or accountability don’t matter—but he is teaching us that there are bigger matters at hand. That love is bigger. That love embraces. Invests. Believes. Risks. Hopes. The love that’s gotten us to this point—is that kind of love. A love that even embraces traitors.
