Picture this: 8:00 AM on a Saturday, I'm standing in eye-popping hot pink gear about to tackle the HYROX fitness challenge for the second time with my daughter Taya. But this isn't a fitness story. It's about what happened when we finished five minutes faster than our first attempt, and what that taught me about business. The lesson hit me somewhere between the rowing station and the sled push: we didn't get faster by completely changing our approach. We got faster by refining what already worked.

Today we’re exploring why brilliant business owners keep questioning their direction despite smashing results, and why we're obsessed with reinventing the wheel instead of doubling down on what's working. I see this constantly with the women I coach: clients are thrilled, revenue is growing, yet they're still questioning whether they should pivot. Not because something's broken, but because consistency feels too simple.

Your business breakthrough isn't hiding in some brand-new strategy you haven't discovered yet. The question is: are you ready to commit to what's already working, or are you going to keep chasing the next shiny object? Your five-minute shift is waiting.

Janine:

Hello.

Janine:

Hello, Janine Garner here.

Janine:

I hope you are all having

Janine:

a fabulous day from

Janine:

wherever you are listening

Janine:

into this podcast.

Janine:

Now,

Janine:

if you are watching this

Janine:

on YouTube or you've seen

Janine:

a snippet, you can probably

Janine:

see that I am sat here in my

Janine:

Hyrox merch and I'm here with

Janine:

absolute pride wearing it.

Janine:

It's one of those days where

Janine:

I can actually remember.

Janine:

Feel of the sweat, the

Janine:

grit, the determination.

Janine:

Every single inch of that

Janine:

arena was in my bones.

Janine:

And the response from sharing

Janine:

my journey of Hyrox with

Janine:

friends and family, with

Janine:

clients through my emails and

Janine:

on the socials has been huge.

Janine:

And so what I thought

Janine:

I'd do is jump on here.

Janine:

And record a little bit of a

Janine:

podcast about my lessons from

Janine:

H really sort of unpacking

Janine:

it a little bit more deeper

Janine:

for you, because this isn't

Janine:

just a story, another fitness

Janine:

story, or a mother and

Janine:

daughter bonding moment over

Janine:

burpees and sled bushes.

Janine:

This is actually a story

Janine:

about what happens when

Janine:

you stop chasing those

Janine:

shiny objects and instead

Janine:

when you double down

Janine:

on you.

Janine:

On what works and

Janine:

on what matters.

Janine:

It's a story about

Janine:

five tiny minutes.

Janine:

Five, the tiny minutes that

Janine:

completely change the game.

Janine:

And if right now you are

Janine:

feeling tired or distracted,

Janine:

you might be over it.

Janine:

You might be wondering

Janine:

whether to burn it all down

Janine:

or pivot again, just because

Janine:

you wanna feel alive again.

Janine:

I want you to listen up

Janine:

because this, this episode

Janine:

is your wake up call.

Janine:

Now, I want you

Janine:

to picture this.

Janine:

It's 8:00 AM on a Saturday

Janine:

morning, and my daughter

Janine:

and I are back in that Hyrox

Janine:

arena for the second time.

Janine:

The music is pumping

Janine:

really loudly.

Janine:

Bodies are stretching and

Janine:

there's chalk dust in the

Janine:

air, and I'm standing there

Janine:

next to Taya, my gorgeous

Janine:

daughter, my race partner.

Janine:

And yes, we'd gone all in.

Janine:

I'd left it up to her to

Janine:

buy those matching outfits

Janine:

and she'd gone for hot pink.

Janine:

Now, full disclosure, when

Janine:

I actually put on that full

Janine:

set, I'm talking tight, hot

Janine:

pink shorts and gym top.

Janine:

I felt more like a piece

Janine:

of salmon at the age of 54

Janine:

than a hot young bod that

Janine:

was about to do the Hyrox.

Janine:

And at 54, let me tell you.

Janine:

Feeling like a giant piece

Janine:

of salmon was not a vibe

Janine:

that I was going to rock.

Janine:

So I decided to, in all

Janine:

honesty, ditch the top and

Janine:

just rocked the bottom half.

Janine:

And if you know, you know,

Janine:

matching outfits are a

Janine:

little bit of a Hyrox thing.

Janine:

And as I said a second ago,

Janine:

this wasn't our first race.

Janine:

We knew, we actually

Janine:

knew what we were in for.

Janine:

We knew that we were in for

Janine:

sled pushes that feel like

Janine:

you need to be super human

Janine:

to be able to push what

Janine:

feels like a small truck.

Janine:

We knew that the farmer

Janine:

carries that we were

Janine:

about to experience.

Janine:

Are those where your

Janine:

grip dies long before?

Janine:

Spirit, the rowing machines,

Janine:

the distance that never ends

Janine:

the burp is, oh my goodness.

Janine:

And then right at the end when

Janine:

you've got nothing left, the

Janine:

insert, whatever exploitive

Janine:

works for you, warbles.

Janine:

Oh my goodness.

Janine:

The warbles, the last

Janine:

station, the last gasp,

Janine:

and they absolutely hurt.

Janine:

Now, last year I

Janine:

got a big fat zero.

Janine:

Not one counted.

Janine:

Not one rep was a proper

Janine:

rep. Every single one

Janine:

of them I failed on.

Janine:

This year they upped the

Janine:

reps from 75 to a hundred

Janine:

because of course they can.

Janine:

And I reckon this year I

Janine:

landed at least half of

Janine:

them, although my daughter

Janine:

might challenge me on that.

Janine:

But that my friends,

Janine:

is what I call a win.

Janine:

You see, this time

Janine:

we train differently.

Janine:

We doubled down.

Janine:

We did the more early morning

Janine:

runs when the sun hadn't

Janine:

even yawned awake yet.

Janine:

And each week, pushing

Janine:

our distance that little

Janine:

bit further, building

Janine:

that uncomfortable comfort

Janine:

zone space, there were

Janine:

high rock simulation.

Janine:

Saturday morning sessions

Janine:

at my gym, F 45, and

Janine:

a huge shout out.

Janine:

To the F 45 crew in dy, in

Janine:

Sydney's Northern Beaches, but

Janine:

also the F 45 crew in Denver.

Janine:

That took me on when I

Janine:

was traveling, right smack

Janine:

bang in the middle of H I

Janine:

trained when the rest of

Janine:

the world was sleeping.

Janine:

We were lifting more weights,

Janine:

we were lunging more lunges.

Janine:

We were jumping more

Janine:

jumps, we were pushing

Janine:

more weight, sweating

Janine:

through the pain, and.

Janine:

In all honesty, most of the

Janine:

time, laughing through the

Janine:

absolute madness that we were

Janine:

putting ourselves through.

Janine:

We worked on those burpees.

Janine:

We worked on our

Janine:

lunges and my knee.

Janine:

If any of you have been

Janine:

following on, you'll know

Janine:

that I've had a little

Janine:

bit of a dodgy knee.

Janine:

still not a hundred percent,

Janine:

but no more excuses.

Janine:

We showed up anyway

Janine:

because we weren't just

Janine:

prepping for a race.

Janine:

We were preparing to go all

Janine:

in to better our results.

Janine:

From the prior year, and you

Janine:

know what the result was, we

Janine:

managed to shave five minutes,

Janine:

five whole minutes off our

Janine:

previous finishing time.

Janine:

And in that space,

Janine:

in the Hyrox arena,

Janine:

that's no small tweak.

Janine:

That for us was

Janine:

a transformation.

Janine:

And you know what it felt

Janine:

like while we were doing it.

Janine:

Exactly the same, the

Janine:

same grind, the same pain,

Janine:

the same little voice

Janine:

in my head whispering.

Janine:

Maybe you don't need

Janine:

to finish this, Janine.

Janine:

And yes, there were

Janine:

moments when, during

Janine:

the race, when Taya was

Janine:

dragging me into that rug.

Janine:

Through the station.

Janine:

Literally she was pulling

Janine:

us both forward with her

Janine:

energy, her belief, her

Janine:

absolute refusal to settle.

Janine:

And when we crossed that

Janine:

finish line, sweaty,

Janine:

broken, but buzzing.

Janine:

So when she saw that we'd

Janine:

shaved the five minutes

Janine:

off, she burst into

Janine:

tears, not because it was

Janine:

over, because she finally

Janine:

saw what was possible

Janine:

when she backed herself.

Janine:

We both backed ourselves.

Janine:

Now Now let me be clear.

Janine:

This isn't just

Janine:

a fitness story.

Janine:

I, on reflection, realized

Janine:

that actually that Hyrox

Janine:

experience was a beautiful

Janine:

metaphor for, for business.

Janine:

It's a business story,

Janine:

it's a leadership story.

Janine:

It's a story about what it

Janine:

takes to keep showing up.

Janine:

Because what happened in that

Janine:

race is exactly what happens

Janine:

when we stop dabbling and

Janine:

when we start committing,

Janine:

when we stop chasing hacks

Janine:

and start focusing on what

Janine:

actually works, when we stop

Janine:

second guessing ourselves

Janine:

and decide to go all in,

Janine:

I see it all the time.

Janine:

Women running

Janine:

brilliant businesses.

Janine:

Leading incredible teams

Janine:

carrying a ridiculous load,

Janine:

achieving great results,

Janine:

and yet they're still

Janine:

questioning if they are

Janine:

doing enough, wondering if

Janine:

they should change direction

Janine:

or, or burn it all down

Janine:

or, or start something new.

Janine:

Just because someone on

Janine:

LinkedIn made it look

Janine:

sexy, but you don't need

Janine:

to always start again.

Janine:

Sometimes you

Janine:

need to go deeper.

Janine:

You need to sharpen up the

Janine:

focus because just like we

Janine:

didn't shave five minutes off

Janine:

our Hyrox time by accident,

Janine:

your next level doesn't come

Janine:

necessarily from reinvention

Janine:

for reinvention's sake.

Janine:

It comes from consistency,

Janine:

from that 1% extra effort,

Janine:

from doing that extra rep,

Janine:

from focus, from small,

Janine:

boring, powerful reps that

Janine:

stack up when no one is

Janine:

watching, and it comes

Janine:

from backing yourself

Janine:

again and again and again.

Janine:

Even when your brain is

Janine:

screaming, this isn't working

Janine:

fast enough, I'm not getting

Janine:

the results fast enough.

Janine:

You know what I'm

Janine:

talking about.

Janine:

So I wanna ask you,

Janine:

what is your version

Janine:

of Hyrox right now?

Janine:

Because I can guarantee

Janine:

you, you already know

Janine:

what works for me.

Janine:

If I think about that.

Janine:

Hyrox, I knew I had to

Janine:

increase my running speed.

Janine:

I knew I had to get better

Janine:

at the wall balls, and

Janine:

I knew I had to practice

Janine:

the sled pushes and pulls

Janine:

because we hadn't done

Janine:

that for the first race.

Janine:

We had to really look at

Janine:

what we knew worked, and we

Janine:

had to put in the effort.

Janine:

You've already

Janine:

seen the results.

Janine:

You've already had the wins.

Janine:

You've already had

Janine:

the awesome feedback.

Janine:

You've already achieved

Janine:

the results and served

Janine:

the right people.

Janine:

You've already sold

Janine:

the right offer.

Janine:

You've already had

Janine:

clients that say that

Janine:

changed everything for me.

Janine:

Look for the clues.

Janine:

Look for the breadcrumbs, the

Janine:

results, the evidence that

Janine:

what you have done has worked.

Janine:

And I reckon you need to

Janine:

identify those breadcrumbs.

Janine:

And those clues are where

Janine:

you need to double down.

Janine:

You know, the product or the

Janine:

service that your clients are

Janine:

loving right now, you know

Janine:

the problems that you solve

Janine:

better than anyone else.

Janine:

You know the audience,

Janine:

that rays about you, that

Janine:

refers you, that rebook you,

Janine:

that my friends, is your

Janine:

equivalent of your nutrition.

Janine:

That is your equivalent

Janine:

of your mindset training.

Janine:

That is the equivalent

Janine:

of your reps. Still.

Janine:

You see what I see

Janine:

happening is we ditch it.

Janine:

We ditch the stuff.

Janine:

We know, we tweak, we

Janine:

change, we reinvent.

Janine:

And maybe just, maybe

Janine:

all we need to do is

Janine:

actually double down.

Janine:

What if instead of chasing

Janine:

you, you chased it better?

Janine:

What if instead of

Janine:

chasing you, you double

Janine:

down on serving your Inc

Janine:

existing clients more

Janine:

awesome stuff because that

Janine:

is where your edge is.

Janine:

That's where your five

Janine:

minutes are hiding.

Janine:

That's where your next

Janine:

level of results could live.

Janine:

Now I get every path is hard.

Janine:

Here's the thing,

Janine:

pivoting is hard.

Janine:

Starting from scratch is hard.

Janine:

You starting out is hard.

Janine:

Every single inflection point

Janine:

in your businesses so far

Janine:

has been hard, and sticking

Janine:

with the thing you know

Janine:

deep down is right for you.

Janine:

That's also hard.

Janine:

But if it's gonna be

Janine:

hard anyway, why not pick

Janine:

the one that actually

Janine:

leads you somewhere?

Janine:

Now, of course there's

Janine:

gonna be times where you

Janine:

do need to switch gears.

Janine:

I've reinvented myself

Janine:

plenty of times.

Janine:

I've responded to market

Janine:

shifts, changed my offer,

Janine:

repositioned my brand.

Janine:

I get it.

Janine:

But I've done it when

Janine:

the market has shifted.

Janine:

What I'm talking about today

Janine:

isn't that, that's I've talked

Janine:

about on other podcasts.

Janine:

What I'm talking about today

Janine:

is when you've got something

Janine:

that works, but you are

Janine:

not giving it your all.

Janine:

I'm talking about the urge to

Janine:

jump ship for no real, real

Janine:

reason other than boredom

Janine:

or fear of distraction.

Janine:

That's not strategy.

Janine:

That is sabotage.

Janine:

When you double down on what's

Janine:

already working, you build

Janine:

momentum, you reduce the cost

Janine:

per lead, you increase your

Janine:

retention, you streamline

Janine:

your delivery, you free up

Janine:

your head space and resources,

Janine:

you create actual profits.

Janine:

It's the difference between

Janine:

running a business that

Janine:

feels chaotic and building

Janine:

one that's scalable,

Janine:

sustainable, and powerful.

Janine:

You don't necessarily

Janine:

need 20 offers.

Janine:

You don't necessarily need to

Janine:

be on a another social media

Janine:

platform because it feels like

Janine:

every other single person has

Janine:

jumped onto that platform.

Janine:

You need to do the things

Janine:

that work and have the

Janine:

courage to stick with it.

Janine:

So wherever you are at right

Janine:

now, I want to challenge you.

Janine:

Don't chase the shiny,

Janine:

don't start over just

Janine:

to feel something.

Janine:

Look for those breadcrumbs,

Janine:

the breadcrumbs of success

Janine:

that are already there,

Janine:

the clues that are already

Janine:

there, and double down.

Janine:

Double down on the thing

Janine:

that works, on the thing that

Janine:

lights you up and brings you

Janine:

joy on the thing that you know

Janine:

gets results, even if it's not

Janine:

fancy, even if it's not fast.

Janine:

The thing that gets results.

Janine:

I've got a client currently in

Janine:

my inner Circle, VIP program,

Janine:

and she knows that the best

Janine:

way to get sales is to pick

Janine:

up the phone, is to go back

Janine:

to her previous clients.

Janine:

She knows if she doubles

Janine:

down on making phone

Janine:

calls, her sales.

Janine:

I've got another client that

Janine:

has literally sold high six

Janine:

figures in the last six weeks

Janine:

by giving a micro gift to

Janine:

her existing client base.

Janine:

Check out my prior

Janine:

podcast where I've

Janine:

talked about micro gifts.

Janine:

You know what works, you

Janine:

know what lights you up, what

Janine:

works, what brings you joy?

Janine:

You know the thing

Janine:

that gets results.

Janine:

It may not be fancy.

Janine:

That is the equivalent

Janine:

of your Hyrox moment.

Janine:

That is your equivalent

Janine:

of the early morning

Janine:

reps in your business.

Janine:

The unglamorous training,

Janine:

the extra kilometer when

Janine:

everyone else is tapping

Janine:

out that extra 1% when

Janine:

everyone else gives up.

Janine:

That's your rocks moment.

Janine:

That is your equivalent of

Janine:

your nutrition, your sleep,

Janine:

your early morning runs,

Janine:

your doubling down, the 1% of

Janine:

training, the extra weight.

Janine:

Tara and I, oh my God.

Janine:

We've already signed up for

Janine:

another hiroc later this

Janine:

year, and we've committed

Janine:

to two more next year.

Janine:

Fingers crossed.

Janine:

There'll be an international

Janine:

one in that we've committed

Janine:

because once you've seen

Janine:

what's possible when you back

Janine:

yourself, you can't go back.

Janine:

I know looking at the

Janine:

race results from last

Janine:

year where the training

Janine:

has to be this year where

Janine:

I need to double down.

Janine:

We've already calculated the

Janine:

work that we need to do to

Janine:

shave off some more time.

Janine:

That is what I want you

Janine:

to focus on, so that's my

Janine:

challenge for you this week.

Janine:

What is one thing, just one.

Janine:

That you are going to double

Janine:

down on what's your Hyrox

Janine:

moment, your equivalent

Janine:

of your five minutes

Janine:

finding your five minutes.

Janine:

Tag me on the socials,

Janine:

share it with me.

Janine:

Let me know and know that I'm

Janine:

gonna be cheering you along.

Janine:

All the way.

Janine:

And hey, as always, if

Janine:

this episode give you a

Janine:

nudge, a shift, a reminder

Janine:

of what you're capable

Janine:

of, please share it.

Janine:

I'd love you to

Janine:

leave me a review.

Janine:

Every little review helps.

Janine:

Please leave a review, send

Janine:

it on to a another person who

Janine:

you think needs to hear this.

Janine:

Let's spread this message.

Janine:

I'm sitting here.

Janine:

You can probably see me if

Janine:

you're watching me on YouTube.

Janine:

The ox jumper is

Janine:

definitely still on.

Janine:

I've still got the knee

Janine:

sleeve on because my knee

Janine:

is still a little bit sore,

Janine:

but my heart is ridiculously

Janine:

full for so many reasons.

Janine:

Doing ox with my daughter,

Janine:

seeing what I am capable

Janine:

of, and really firing

Janine:

up my training as we get

Janine:

ready for the next one.

Janine:

Until next time,

Janine:

please stay bold.

Janine:

Please stay brilliant and

Janine:

whatever you do, keep going

Janine:

because your five minute

Janine:

shift that's waiting for

Janine:

you just on the other

Janine:

side of one more rep.

Janine:

I'll see you next week.
