We all dream of building a team one day and creating systems that will allow us to retire. But how do we take the leap between handling working by ourselves to adding more people to our team? How should we keep them accountable without putting too much pressure on them? What’s the secret to growth? On this episode, Kerby Skurat speaks on how he went from a single agent to partnering with his wife to build a team that sells over 350 homes per year.
What I’ve learned is that the growth of the people is going to make the growth of the business happen. -Kerby Skurat
3 Things We Learned From This Episode
Build leaders (12:27-13:55)
If you plan to scale up one day, start attracting coachable agents-- people who want to learn more today, so they become leaders tomorrow. Each business owner needs solid team leaders in order for the owner to eventually be less involved in the production process.
Accountability is love (26:30-17:50)
Holding your team members accountable must come from a place of love. Helping them to live by the core values will be beneficial to you and their financial success.
Feedback is the secret to growth (37:20-38:00)
Every risk you take will either be a success or an opportunity to test things out. If it didn’t work, ask yourself what you could have done better. The best way to detect flaws is to observe the outside feedback to your efforts.
Knowledge and self-improvement is key in all areas of business. There is no stagnation. If you are not getting better every day, you are getting worse. There is always someone out there who is trying to get better at it. Recruit your people and take your share of the market. Make learning part of your core values, and share this value with your team. Constantly invest in your education, and surround yourself with people who already made it big to learn from them.
