They scooped me up and was like, yo, you ever thought about acting before?

I had, but it was just like, I didn't know.

I didn't have a network.

I had a connection.

So it was just like, hey, do what you know, until that comes along with it.

So they saw me perform, was like, hey, you ever thought about acting?

I'm like, hell, yeah, we can go back to it and touch on it.

But just in the first steps of it, they just say, hey, come to my house, read a script.

I went to the crib, read a script.

They was like, we want to book you for this role.

Are you special?

Because that's hard as heck to act.

I did.

I have four words in my Homeboys movie.

I did 75 takes.

I'm not lying.

I was an attorney.

I was an attorney and I literally.

It was literally four words.

And I had to just hold the phone and pretend I could not get it right.

So to me, actors are extremely special people.

So when you get a script, it's like, that's that part.

And, you know, I was already in front of a camera.

I was already in front of people.

So it was just changed the dynamics, you know what I mean?

And then growing up, growing up too.

I'm a big movie head.

So it was just like, hey, here's your time to just do what you thought you wanted to do when you was a little kid.

And it's just tough.

It's very tough knowing that this is a fleeting, this is an amazing fleeting time.

You know, both things kind of contradiction.

But yeah, it's great, you know, knowing that it's fleeting.

But you know, this is really important time and they, they remember all these moments.

And it's like, you know, you gotta be there.

Especially for me.

Are you a strict dad or are you more like fun dad?

Games and moms are strict.

They know they could come to dad to play due to craziness.

But then the children that my wife brought, she got.

She had a daughter that was already like 16.

16 Year old daughter and then she had 14 year old boy and then an 8 year old.

So two boys and a girl.

So it just be like, I'm going.

But with me loving kids, that really helps me in this.

I'm about to take the kids to the mall.

We about to go to the park.

So I'm still vibrant, and I just.

That's just me.

That's what I want to do.

And it might have something to do with just how I was brought up too.

Like, my dad wasn't around a lot, My mom was.

So it was just like, I already know I'm about to be like super dad.

So it's that part that gives me all kind of energy and just like, positivity.

Just trying to move things around and just make sure that they are important.

And I Just have to balance it the best way I can.

But I've made some decisions in the past to where probably weren't the smartest thing.

Trying to still do entertainment and do what I need, you know.

But um, it's actually the more I'm doing now, I'm actually able to make more time, surprisingly.

But that comes with, I'll say, knowing your worth and not spreading yourself too thin and being like, all right, I'm gonna do this and I'm gonna do that.

So you just gotta know your worth and where to, where to put your time.

So, so where do you get your biggest back from?

Is it acting, your entrepreneurship or being a poet or activist work?

Where's your mainstream income?

And honestly, mind you, biggest bag right now is still working a 9 to 5.

Cause I still really.

I still work.

So I'm a motherfucking milkman for Safeway.

So like driving tankers around, that's good money.

So it's good money.

And I haven't been doing it for too long, probably like a year.

But before that, just making little bags, doing entertainment, doing acting, doing music.

I would say accumulation.

I haven't got a residual role yet.

So it's just like it's coming, it coming and go, coming and go.

So I need a residual meaning more like reoccurring roles.

I've even gotten to work with big celebrity actors and everything.

Not hearing the name.

You probably might not know cause I wouldn't either.

I haven't heard.

But he's the white guy, little short redhead kid that played in Goonies.

He was in Goonies.

He was also in Lord of the Rings, bro.

That's one of my favorites.

He was my favorite character.

Hilarious.

And so when I was like, oh shit, like I got to work side by side closer than we sitting right now in a couple of scenes in Librarians.

I don't know if you're familiar, they shoot it in Portland, Oregon, and they shoot a lot of movies and sitcoms and commercials there.

But I got a chance to be on a show called Librarians on tnt and I was on the show with him in a scene, multiple scenes with him and Librarians.

That's dope.

I got in a scene with him, and he's like, you know, this is big time.

You ready to.

Was you nervous?

I was more excited.

Really?

I was more excited.

A little.

I got nervous when he really was, like, talking to me, like.

Cause I'm like.

When he's, like, making eye contact, like, all right, this is it.

I was like, all right, you making me fuck.

Like, that was the crazy part.

Before that, I was like, all right, another day.

I've done this before.

But he's like, looking at me like, this is the scene.

We ready?

We gonna shoot.

I was like, yeah.

Huh?

So he's just like, calm down.

It's okay.

You know, I know who I am.

But you've been doing this, right?

You got this, and we gonna run through it.

I'm like, mm.

In my head, I'm like, you kind of freaked me out, but I got it now.

But that was one of my biggest breakout roles.

And when they was even telling me, like, pre production, they was like, hey, tell your people the camera gonna be on you.

Not gonna be no background.

You full screen right there.

People gonna see you.

So.

And I got to play a cop on the show too, so they had to give me a whole outfit change, whole situation.

It was so fun, especially as a new actor.

Yeah.

It was out this world, like, again, another thing.

I look and I go, you fucking did that?

Yeah.

Like.

And I know we jumping around, we gonna attack different things, but it was like, getting into that was like, damn.

Like.

And knowing I'm still working a 9 to 5, right?

When you hear people's backstory and you like, wait, how you was still doing this?

But.

And you was.

So.

I'm like, oh, shit.

You living it.

You really in it right now in real time.

So that kind of fucks with me.

Like, I'm like, you doing big shit in real time.

Just like me being here with you.

So dead ass.

Nah, I mean that.

And it's huge shit.

It's like, everybody.

Everybody I meet on the way up in the middle, it's just like, yeah, you know, I love it.

Doing that, though.

I even had to.

I was working a job.

I even quit a job to take that role now.

You don't know when that's gonna be the big.

When they was talking to me, hey, naw, this.

You gonna be on camera.

I was like.

And I had just started a job at that point.

I'm like, man, this is crazy.

I thought you said you just started the job with something.

Having that time with Sean Astin on camera and seeing that and being with an actor of that magnitude, like you did Lord of the Rings, you.

So just being on a set with, like, a major actor was crazy.

I wouldn't say.

I don't know if every actor does this, but being on the set with him, he was real, like, specific.

Meaning, like, I got to see, like, he was professional, but it was like, I got to see him go through, like, go through a hard time because they had just signed him on for this role.

He had the script for a Day.

He was the main character in each shot.

He was damn near in it.

I had to see him struggle, and to see that from a major actor taught me so much and gave me so much.

It was like, that's big right there.

It was like.

Cause you looking at actors and you like, oh, perfect.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

This motherfucker been doing it for decades, right?

But the situation he was in, right, he had a script for a Day.

I mean, it's pages of shit.

How do you do that, Doctor?

You know what I'm saying?

How do you do that?

He's.

I mean, he's the fucking seasoned actor.

That's how he does it.

But I got to see him mess up over and over and over and over.

And I was like.

To be in that situation and be, like, privy to that, like, damn, you got to see a major actor just screw up and.

But you know what I took from that?

The main thing was, all right, you kept fucking up.

Cause you didn't know it, and you had to get it, but you didn't give up.

Correct.

I like that.

It's a ton of people around.

Cameras everywhere, everywhere.

And he just, fuck, shit.

Run it again.

Fuck, shit.

And then just go right back into the role.

Wow.

Now that's some crazy cool shit, too.

That is.

So that was like, oh, like, you structured, you knowing your lines, you getting through it.

To see somebody have to do that, that Was huge.

I couldn't have paid for that.

Ooh.

Like, and he just.

Big production going on.

He messing up.

I mean, numerous times.

And they, like, no problem, shoot it again.

And then just when he get.

Then he get it.

And then it's magical and it's next scene, boom.

And then they keep doing it.

And I mean, we had hours.

Hours.

So in them sets, it be hours.

Them actors be there, and then the new director saying, boom.

Aight, we got it, Sean, we got it.

Yup.

And they.

From me being to a cop, they ended up transforming me from a cop to like a crazy psycho clown, like, with blood everywhere.

I had a mask on.

They had me.

They had me in this mask while Sean Astin was fucking up his lines, right?

They got me in this mask and I could barely breathe.

And I'm like, I hope he fuck up again so I can take this mask off.

It was nuts, but it was.

Dude, it was amazing.

Dope.

So did that help you, like, in the.

Did that more like, what I feel like it did was it encouraged you and gave you hope?

Like, even if I come and I mess up, that don't mean I have to be perfect.

Hell yeah.

Because at the end of the day, you don't see that.

And that's something like, can't nobody even tell you.

I had to be there to see it.

From training Day to being in this.

What was that other movie he was in where he was anyway, where he was just like, he's to me, one of the best actors because he plays so many different hats and he's able to get in character.

And to me, I look at those people, that.

That's real talent.

Because it's hard.

I did it with three words and I had 72 takes.

And it's like for them to be able to remember all of that and strategically go into character, that's different level.

I would love to actually be on the scene to see that.

It was a three day, three day shoot.

That's why I had to cut the work.

I was like, I can't leave work.

So I was like, but again, that came with the experience of me saying, all right, I need to go do this.

Did you ever do acting school?

I didn't do acting school, but I took acting classes once I got a agent.

Gotcha.

But that wasn't until years later.

It was like a natural thing.

Like, me just me knowing I wanted to do this and being like, it's like studying it like an art.

Like, I knew I wanted to act.

It was just like, hey, that'll come when, you know, the universe blessed me with me able to get through that door, you know, I just didn't even see that door opening and boom.

Like I told you, through music.

Then that door opened and so.

Oh, doing my little homework on you, too.

I also now the first people that got me in the film, they also had me doing tours in prisons.

They got me to go to prisons to help out youth.

And I know you big in helping out the youth, so I even did shows in prisons for kids now that like, touched me and was like, that's different.

That's somebody I've never fucking seen coming.

Yeah, that's definitely different level.

And that shit was fire, though.

I actually done it before.

I've done it.

Presented my book, you know, how to CEO shout out to me.

But no, I presented my book to.

They got a class together for the prostitutes that were in.

Not prison, but jail, county jail.

And to present and then present my book.

That it just is different level.

When you work with youth or you even kind of see yourself in them, you know what I mean?

And they looking at you a certain way, like they didn't.

They don't amounted to something.

Hey, what can they give me?

You know what that feel like?

That's a different feeling.

That's definitely a different feeling.

Now, I know your butt is a poet.

Now, when you say poet, what is that to you?

Like, is that I'll say, like, for your talents.

Like, you rap, you sing poet.

Which one do you think you're the best in?

And act out of all of them.

But the poet thing is, like, now to get a little deeper in what you might be talking about.

Cause I wanna know.

Now, my approach to poetry is completely different from me being a rapper.

So if I'm pinning down a poem piece, I'm not trying to make it rhyme really.

But that's like spoken word, purposeful, you know?

What I'm saying, I'm like, all right, you are gonna poetry piece.

I don't want it to rhyme.

I could rhyme a thousand words all day, but this, if somebody's really into poetry, it's like, nah, you gonna get this poetry.

So it's gonna be real thought provoking.

But I'm not trying to rhyme the words.

And I just wanna just chill on that.

Like when I'm doing my poetry.

What is it more or less about?

What do you talk about in your poetry?

Like, what are you interested in?

Poetry is.

It's the whole gamut.

It could be if I want to write about life situations, if I just want to like share something personal, or if I just want to talk about nature.

I do that a lot.

Most of the time I'm taking them with me.
