Cara:

Hey there, I'm Kara and welcome to Design your Dream Life podcast where we dive in and explore how you can use practical personal development to up level your life.

Whether you are looking to have better or deeper relationships, fix your problems with money, learn to love yourself unconditionally, leave a dead end or high stress career, or just want more happiness in your life, my friend, you are in the right place. Are you ready? Hello my friends. Happy New Year.

We are now officially in:

And I found that so fitting to do for the episode today because I want to make your dreams come true. And so how did I even start with this?

I was like, okay, well I want to create a framework and I'm trying to think of, you know, zooming out on how do you, how does one create their dream life, Right? And to me it all starts with a vision.

And then once you have that vision, and this episode is not about necessarily creating that vision, it'll have components of it actually. So I won't say that.

But in order to create your dream life, to make your dreams a reality, it all begins with your goals and being able to achieve them. And that is why I created the Dream Framework which I am about to share with you.

So the dream framework, I'll go high level and then we're gonna go in and we are going to break it down step by simple step. But the D is for discover your goal. The R is to rewire your mind. Very important friends. E is for engineer your path. A is act with purpose.

And M is monitor and adapt. I love this framework and I hope that you're gonna love it too. So let's dive in because I want to not go over on time.

So we've got a lot to work, a lot of work to do. Okay, so let's go into D. Discover your goal. I want you to deep dive into, into what you truly, truly want.

And some of you might feel lost with that and others maybe you're ignoring what you really want. But you need to discover your goal. And in order to do that, I'm going to give you some ideas.

t ideal day like look like in:

And then you can decide based on that day, how are you going to get there? So what is the goal? How can I get to that perfect day? What does my life need to look like in order for me to live out that perfect day? Right.

Or what you could do if you want to get clarity on some of your goals. Because first of all, let me also just stop here and say one goal, friends, we cannot.

So I don't want this to be like, it would be like saying, oh, let's just solve world hunger. That's the goal. Like, that is a huge goal. So you need to, to break your goal down into like baby goal and then go from there.

And so example is, let's say I know that I want to become a service provider and I'm not really clear on my scale that I want to start with. The goal wouldn't be, I want a service provider and I want to make six figures when we don't even know the scale yet.

So you would break it down into a baby goal. And so that baby goal would be, okay, what do I need? What is the skill that I'm going to start for my six figure business? I want to build.

So we, we don't want to get these huge goals. We want to do small sprints because those small sprints add up into big results. So I hope that makes sense.

So you want to think about, think about that perfect day now. What is the baby step that is going to get you there based on just the example I gave you?

All right, now I also want you to ask some discovery questions, like, what would you do if you couldn't fail, if failure was an option? What makes you lose track of time? What did you love doing as a child? What would you regret not trying? And if money weren't a factor?

What would change for you? And what lights you up when you're talking about it?

I hear this all the time when I'm talking about design, your dream life, or even just with my clients. They're like, Kara, you're so passionate. I'm like, I know because this is my zone, friends.

I get lit up and I was recently having dinner with somebody and they're like, Kara, your eyes are just sparkling. And I'm like, are they? I don't even know. I just love what I do so much. And I don't think that that is just a one off thing like it.

For so many years, you guys, I was so lost. I would go to these things and these seminars or whatever. And they're like, do what you're passionate about. I'm like, dude, I have no passion.

I don't even know. So I have been in the seat where people have said, find your passion.

And you have like, you're the person that's like, I have no fucking clue what lights me up inside. But look at me now. Feel my energy right now, because I have figured it out.

And the only reason I have figured it out is because I chose not to give up. Through those years and years and years of uncertainty, of bankruptcy, of failure, of burnout, I chose to keep going.

And I will tell you something, it has been completely worth it. I promise you it's worth it.

Any of this is worth it when you get to the state where you are in a place that you're doing work that lights you up and you're awesome at what you do. And so I really think that that is one of the most crucial things that people overlook, is they don't go all in on what lights them up.

And it's okay if you don't know. Then guess what your goal is to discover what lights you up. That's allowed to be a goal, too. All right? And so you want to make your goal measurable.

You want to have specific, specific metric, or you can create milestone markers, or you can connect it to your freedom number, like, whatever that you want, like you need to. And again, this is going to be different depending on. On what your goal is. So let's do the example of you want to decide what your service skill is.

You know you want to do this, but you don't know your service skill. So then you're going to say, in the next 30 days, I am going to decide and finalize my skill. And there you go. Right?

And that can be something very specific. Now listen, once you do that, you're going to need to rewire your mind, because your mind is going to go bonkers.

It's going to go crazy, and it's totally normal. You are going to have all the thoughts of, who do I think I am? I'm not qualified to do shit. I don't even know why I should do this. I am so scared.

This is scary. Your brain is going to be like, escape, escape, retreat, retreat, right? And it's so normal because your brain is designed to keep you safe.

And this is something new and unknown, and it's scary, and it is okay. And that's why we have to rewire our mind, right? So we've got to identify our limiting Beliefs just like what I was just saying to you.

You know, who am I to think I could do this? I have no skill. Or maybe the skill you were thinking of, you're like, I'm totally not qualified to do that. And I want you to get all of that out.

I want you to get all those limiting beliefs out of your brain. Get them all down on paper. I want you to write them down, and I want you to look them in the eye and I want you to tell them to fuck off.

No, I'm just kidding. I want you to look at them and I want you to create a new belief. For every negative belief that you have, I want you to come up with a belief.

And here is the. I'm going to say the winning factor in rewiring your brain with beliefs, please make it something believable to you.

So if you have something that is so outrageous that when you read it, your unconscious mind is like, hell no. Right? So, example for me, I even know, like, one of the limiting beliefs. Oh, and this is. This is one I'm definitely better with.

But I would have, like, a limiting belief about myself, about really not loving myself. And. And then I would put maybe on, like, the. The new thought is like, I love myself unconditionally.

But every time I would read that, I'm like, but that's not true. Like, I'm. I. That's not what's happening. And then I learned something that I thought, oh, this is so powerful.

I am learning to love myself unconditionally and that I could lean into.

So when you are writing that limiting belief down and then you're going to rewrite that limiting belief, please put something next to it that when you read it feels real, you know, and it could be like, I am learning to do this. Like, I am learning to love myself unconditionally. I am learning the new skills around X, Y, Z. Right? Like, it's okay to do that.

And so being aware of the thoughts in your mind are going to help you succeed, because your mindset is one of the most powerful things. It actually is the driving force between you and your success.

So when you are thinking of these limiting beliefs, this is only one part of rewire your mind. But again, friends, I'm not gonna make this a super long episode, so we're gonna move on and I will have more episodes about this.

I'm even probably gonna do an entire workshop and training around this framework because I could really dive into it more. But for now, that's what we're Gonna talk about with that. Okay. And then the next thing is engineering your path, right?

And you want to create an environment for success.

So, example, if you, let's say, were an alcoholic, you are not going to hang out with friends who are drinking alcohol, especially at the beginning, you are. You are going to remove yourself from that environment. If you are going on a sugar detox, what's the first thing they say to do?

Clear your environment, get your environment, set up for success. So for you, what does that look like with your goal? How are you setting your environment up to have success?

What are the habits that you can create to ensure that you are moving in the right direction? Right. And what is the path that you are on? I think for me too, like, when we're engineering the path, the path is also the plan. The path is the plan.

What is the plan? Let's map it out and make sure that we're going to follow the plan. Right? Because we've defined the goal, we've talked about our mindset.

How are we achieving the goal? We're engineering the path. The environment is super important. But then also the actual path we're going to take is also super important.

So we want to get that clear. All right? And we want to figure out, you know, how are we going to have accountability? How are we going to have a support system?

You know, what is that dream team look like for you? What does that. Everybody needs somebody, you know, and I can be that person for you if that's what you want. Like, you know, it.

It's hard because when you are on a road to personal development, it can sometimes be really lonely.

And I think that's why finding people and surrounding yourself with people that are where you want to be or the energy that you want to have, surrounding yourself with them. And at the beginning, that might even just be listening to this podcast we're going to be launching.

Actually, for this episode, we should be launching a Monday motivation newsletter. Absorb the material, read it, listen to other podcasts like you.

If you don't have anyone in your life that is going to be that awesome cheerleader for you, you can create a network of. Just by surrounding yourself with the material, right? And that's again, part of that.

That environment, setting up yourself with an environment for success. All right, so the next one is A. And that is act with purpose.

So again, every action you're taking is that getting you closer to your goal or further away from your goal, you need to take consistent daily action, right?

Because those habit stacks are going to lead to you getting your goal and maybe your goal is big enough where you want to have progress tracking and you want to have like a little tick system or whatever that is. But you have to act with purpose by taking consistent daily action, right?

So example, even for me, like there are even questions, I act with purpose like every day in business. It's like, what are my revenue producing activities that I do, right? How am I generating more activity in growing my audience?

Like, you know, there are so many different things.

So you have to ask yourself the questions on what is going, what are the questions that are actually going to move you into momentum on a consistent basis? All right? And then the other thing is too, depending on your outline. So let's say if it's in the next 30 days, right? Let's go to that example.

What was it? The service skill. I know, I already forgot what I said. I'm so known for that.

By the way, side note, I'll be in a meeting and like, I'm like, da, da, da. And they're like, yeah, that's brilliant. What did you just say? I'm like, I don't know, I'm like so famous for that.

I'm like, that's why we need to record me because I'll just like blurt stuff out and I won't remember. But okay, we want to do a weekly progress check in. So if, if it was the 30 days was. Yeah, 30 days to define my, my service skill.

So you need to have a weekly check in with yourself. And even if you set that as a little calendar reminder, I think that when you do that you're moving the needle forward, right?

So some kind of weekly check in. And if it's going to take you more than 30 days, this goal, let's say it's 60 or 90.

Then you also need to have a monthly strategy review with yourself. Like, are you on course? Do you need to pivot? Like you need to like how close am I to getting to this goal? Does this goal feel good?

Or do like I said, you need to pivot or change or do something, right? So you want to have weekly and monthly, depending on how big the goal is. And you just want to be able to act consistently.

And I also want to tell you in this moment to also give yourself grace. Listen, you might have a 30 day goal and two weeks in you haven't acted.

And then you're going to tell yourself that it's okay, I don't need to do this. And then you're going to tell all your Yourself all the reasons why you shouldn't do this. And like, then you could gaslight yourself.

Because I'm really good at that. You could gaslight yourself. Like, if I really wanted to do it, I would have already done it. So this must mean I don't really want to do it.

Where it's like, no, there's other beliefs going on here. So just because let's say you did a 30 day deadline and you're two weeks in and you haven't done anything, that's okay.

You can be like, you know what, I'm gonna give myself grace, I'm gonna extend this and I'm gonna start now. And what are the actions that I need to take? And I wanna remember why I wanted this goal.

And I maybe should have added that at the, at the beginning too. Like, why do you want what you want? Because sometimes you need that reminder. So when you are making your goal, why do you want it? What's your why?

Because you might need to revisit that a few times. Okay, so then, my friends, we are almost near the end and I'm like getting close to time is monitor and adapt.

So the reason why we want to monitor and adapt is because, let's just face it, you can pivot. You know, I've said before, you can start in service and end a course creator, a start and service and end with a huge Shopify brand.

You can start in service and end wherever you want to end. And maybe you don't even end there, you build something else. But you have to monitor and adapt.

And when I say monitor and adapt, I really want you to check in with yourself. Does this feel good? Do I feel happy about this direction? Do I feel like inspired, encouraged? Feel good in general?

Because we want to monitor our progress and we also want to monitor am I successful and what are my success metrics? What is making this successful? What can I put here that would make this successful?

And then you get to determine because again, let's say you had a goal and you were doing something and it's like, well, I'm getting close to the goal, but I'm really miserable and not happy.

So now that's where we're gonna, we're gonna adapt, we're monitoring it and we're, we've decided this is not necessarily as good as I thought it was going to be. I'm going to pivot, I'm going to adapt and I'm going to do something else.

I'm not going to, I'm not going to completely give up, but I'm going to rework, right? And that's part of the monitor and adapt. So, my friends, I hope you have enjoyed the dream Framework.

I think it's so important to have goals and to consistently crush them. And I believe that this framework is, can help you do so.

being said, Again, welcome to:
