Shownotes

In this podcast episode, Yemi and Philia discuss the Miracle of Jesus healing a woman who was unable to stand upright ( Luke 13:10-17.) In this miracle story, Jesus has compassion for a woman who is hunched over and unable to stand upright so he heals her on the sabbath in the temple. Again Jesus is confronted by the Pharisees about "working" on the sabbath and Jesus then challenges his opponents on why it would be okay to take their ox or donkey to drink water on the sabbath but not have compassion to allow their sister to be healed on the sabbath. Jesus advocates for compassion over the rules everyday. We cannot honor and love our brothers and sisters in the way God commands if we let rules create a barrier to showing kindness and compassion. This is our call to do more for one another and be more compassionate. "Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind." (1 Peter 3:8).
