You can be fully prepared and still feel nervous.
That dry mouth, racing heart, shaky breath or sudden wave of fear does not automatically mean you are not ready. Sometimes it means the moment matters.
In this episode, Lara explores the difference between being genuinely unprepared and being well-trained, rehearsed and ready — while still feeling the very human nerves that come with performing, speaking, auditioning or sharing your work.
In this episode, we’ll talk about:
- why nerves and readiness are not the same thing
- the difference between fear that signals lack of preparation and fear that arrives because you care
- why “do it afraid” only works when you have respected your craft enough to prepare
- how rehearsal, training and nervous-system preparation can help you trust yourself under pressure
Lara shares experiences from performing a musical theatre solo in Belgium, keynoting the Metro Atlanta Film Summit and preparing for TEDx — and why she has learned that readiness does not require certainty.
