Nathan:

Solomon. Pr 4:23. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 7 of 30 Days to a Better Marriage.

The gnarled, twisted weeds that destroy marriages were once mere seeds blowing about the soil of the heart. Then one day, one argument, one temptation, they caught in a little crevice. A lie, a lock, a flippant response—and they were watered and began to sprout. Over time, were nurtured these seeds of bitterness, lust, self-absorption, addiction. Then one fateful day we awaken to discover they’ve taken over our hearts and our marriage. We discover our lives are now trembling in their fridged shade, entangled helplessly in their savage roots. Take it from Solomon: Diligently keep your heart. Weed it NOW. Burn the seeds. Actually, literally, make a list of all the things that bother you about your spouse. Talk to God about it them. Then burn that list, asking him for grace to heal your heart and stop letting those seeds find a nitch, a cranny, an open spot to root. Fight the urge. Fiercely guard that heart of yours. Whatever it takes. You cannot afford to risk one more fiendish plant taking root in your heart.
