And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.
Moses. Deuteronomy 31:8. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 21 of 30 Days of Pushing Back Fear. A major leadership transition was underway. Moses, the fabled leader of this growing multitude—who’d been with God’s people when the walked out of Egyptian slavery some 40 years before—was about to pass the baton—when Israel was about to enter a whole new era—claiming the land promised to their fathers. It was a moment perfectly positioned to spin up anxiety. Apparently new leadership—in the face of serious, unknown challenges. Would they—could they—survive to raise new generations in a free land? Moses assured them, ‘Actually, it’s God who goes before you. And he’ll stay with you—so don’t be afraid.’ See, they’d never succeeded because Moses was in charge. It was a God thing ALL ALONG. A new guy taking the baton, wasn’t really a leadership transition at all. So, maybe this can help us find stability, too, when the world seems to change by the day. Who’s brought us this far?
