It’s getting colder in the mountains and we’ve had about 5cm of snow in Perisher and a couple in Thredbo since we spoke on Friday. The temps have stayed in the minuses at the top of Thredbo , and only poked above zero briefly in Perisher Valley, so no doubt the resorts have been pumping their snow guns too.
Over the next few days it is going to remain cold, and if the snow gods all agree, we might have as much as 30cm of snow. Let’s hope that with this , and the snow making, it will provide the nudge the resorts need - because right now, Thredbo and Selwyn remain closed. Perisher has opened a couple more lifts on front valley, now operating 6 in total. Charlotte Pass has opened, but it’s just the Kosi carpet and Kosciuszko triple chair to mid station… probably not worth the trek out there, and i commiserate with you if you’ve had a trip pre-booked.
If you are heading Perisher way , then at this stage ,you’ll need snow chains on from Wilsons Valley. With cold temps and snowfall predicted, it could be the same all day, so be careful if you are heading up there.
