Grab a PBR, put on your Roy Orbison records, and dress in some BLUE VELVET. This week we talk about our first David Lynch film, the incomparable and infamous BLUE VELVET. Before TWIN PEAKS, Lynch looked into the seedy underbelly of suburban society with this thriller.
In Lumberton, NC everything is as American as apple pie, but when college student Jeffrey Beaumont (Kyle Mclaughlin) finds a severed ear in a field in the quiet town- it leads him down a rabbit hole and into the middle of a conflict between an abused lounge singer (Isabella Rossellini) and a psychotic drug dealer (Dennis Hopper). With the help of his intelligent and innocent new friend, Sandy (Laura Dern), he just might just get to the bottom of what is twisting his suburban life into terror.
Next Week's movie: THE PAPERBOY (2012) by Lee Daniels
