Welcome to 12-Minute Converse with Jesus Believers.
Speaker:God chose first to have a conversation with us, his creation.
Speaker:Our prayer is that this listening space brings growth and transforms your life forever.
Speaker:Praise God for you, Ashley.
Speaker:It's a great pleasure to connect with you.
Speaker:For those listening, what part of the world are you in today?
Speaker:I am in the United States and I am in California, so west coast of the United States.
Speaker:Wonderful, wonderful.
Speaker:Well, tell me what got you into the space of wanting to help others with their help?
Speaker:So it's always been a dream and a passion since I can remember.
Speaker:It started as, I started as a dancer when I was three.
Speaker:And so at first it was I wanted to be in the entertainment industry.
Speaker:I did a lot of musicals.
Speaker:I was on Broadway, did lots of things.
Speaker:But as I got older, it transitioned more into really helping women with their health.
Speaker:And so I thought when I went to college for being pre-med that I was either going to go into the pharmacy industry or physical therapy or something of that realm, but none of that really sat with my heart.
Speaker:And so the Lord was just like, you're going to start with fitness.
Speaker:And I was like, really?
Speaker:So that was, oh my goodness, over a decade ago.
Speaker:And so here we are now where I really specialize now in helping women with their bodies, with their confidence, but also in that process, really seeking the Lord and bringing him into their fitness journey because he's the ultimate transformer and a lot of women leave him out of their fitness.
Speaker:And so I really encourage them to bring him in and to partner with him in their health journey.
Speaker:How did you come to meet Jesus?
Speaker:Hmm.
Speaker:So I've always known Jesus.
Speaker:It was not a relationship though.
Speaker:When I was younger, it was just, I knew who he was, but there was no seeking him.
Speaker:There was no relationship really until I got older, I would say in my mid twenties, where I was like, oh my gosh, I am horrid without the Lord.
Speaker:And it was a really dark time in my life, but he used that time to bring me closer to him.
Speaker:And he showed me that he is my foundation.
Speaker:He is the one I can always count on no matter what, when I feel like I'm alone, I can always depend on him.
Speaker:And so in my mid twenties, that's when I really started seeking him on a daily basis, reading the word, really trying to understand his character and know who he was.
Speaker:And he is the only, only thing that got me through that really dark time of my life.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:Tell me about that.
Speaker:What was the challenge that logically you couldn't get over that hurdle without Christ?
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:So for me, it was, I, I made a decision that I thought I would never make in my life.
Speaker:And it was a very poor decision and it affected a lot of people around me, my husband, my relationship with his parents, my parents.
Speaker:It was just, it was a really horrible time.
Speaker:And I will say in that time, that scripture where it says, um, when it talks about life apart from the Lord leads to death, I can attest to that 1000% because at that part of my life, I was not living for the Lord.
Speaker:I was not seeking him.
Speaker:And it literally almost led me to death.
Speaker:And so, um, I'm just so thankful.
Speaker:I'm so grateful for not the decision that I made, but that challenge that I had in my life because he used it to bring me closer to him.
Speaker:And so without that experience, I honestly don't know where I would be at this point.
Speaker:One of the patterns I've realized is that the theme that you've experienced usually connects you to your ministry.
Speaker:Have you seen that?
Speaker:I have, um, I will be honest.
Speaker:I have not talked about it publicly on my, on any of my things, the social media.
Speaker:I've talked about it when I give my testimony, but as far as my business, it's more focused on what the Lord showed me after that, like why I made that decision was because I was so, um, obsessed with like my physical body, that was my identity.
Speaker:And it was like, I needed constant attention and all of these things.
Speaker:And so what the Lord showed me after that really was the springboard of my ministry.
Speaker:So I really work with a lot of women who are struggling with their body changing because they've looked one way for their entire lives.
Speaker:And now maybe they had babies or they had an injury or some sort of life altering thing to their physical body.
Speaker:They feel completely lost.
Speaker:And so that is my heart.
Speaker:I can attest to that 1000% because I've lived it, I've walked through it.
Speaker:And so that has been a big part of my business and my ministry.
Speaker:What brings you the most joy in your business?
Speaker:I think seeing the transformation for women outside of their workouts, outside of their health, seeing that just bleed over into other areas of their life.
Speaker:Like for instance, I had one client who she was in a job that she hated for years.
Speaker:She just, she didn't feel like she deserved more.
Speaker:She didn't feel like she was worthy.
Speaker:She didn't feel like she could do more.
Speaker:And then through her journey of really building confidence in her body and her health, she got the courage to finally quit that job and step into what she felt like she had been called to.
Speaker:And just to see that confidence, that self-love spill over into other areas of their life, whether it's their career or their children or their husband, that is truly, truly the beautiful, most beautiful gift that I get to witness.
Speaker:I'm getting that what you're doing is specifically for women.
Speaker:Yes, it is.
Speaker:Yeah, I just, I felt really called by the Lord to help women specifically.
Speaker:Men, nothing against y'all.
Speaker:I love y'all.
Speaker:But my heart was really just for women because we struggle so much with our physical bodies.
Speaker:We allow that to kind of take over everything in our life.
Speaker:And it becomes a big distraction for a lot of women.
Speaker:I really feel like the Lord called me to women specifically who are a former version of myself.
Speaker:Is it challenging combining the Christian aspect of Jesus with what you do?
Speaker:No, because he's the core of everything that we do.
Speaker:And so I'm very open about my faith when it comes to my business and how I do things.
Speaker:It's, the Lord is always first and foremost part of that.
Speaker:And, you know, not to say that if you're not a Christian, you can't work with me, but that is the core of my framework and how I work is we invite the Lord in, we seek him first, and then we get into our fitness things.
Speaker:So he is the core.
Speaker:And, you know, I have no shame about the Lord being so important and being an integral part of my life.
Speaker:There are so many women out there who feel the same and just don't know how to incorporate him into their health and wellness.
Speaker:As a result of doing that, what are you seeing that is different from what a normal approach to health coaching would be?
Speaker:Yes, I love this question.
Speaker:So women come to me seeing like fitness and health as like something they have to do.
Speaker:It's like something they're punishing their body to do.
Speaker:They're restricting food and all of these things.
Speaker:The beautiful thing that I see when women start inviting the Lord into it is it starts to become stewardship.
Speaker:Working out, eating healthy, that starts to become a form of worship.
Speaker:It's no longer I have to do this.
Speaker:It's I get to do this.
Speaker:I get to partner with the Lord to take care of my temple.
Speaker:I think that's the biggest difference between what I do and just, you know, normal health and wellness coaches who don't bring the Lord into their business.
Speaker:What are you most excited about?
Speaker:Oh, my goodness.
Speaker:So many things.
Speaker:I feel like the Lord is just he's always, always working.
Speaker:I'm excited about having in-person retreats.
Speaker:I think starting this year, like having women just come to California, spending a few days together, praising the Lord, worship and movement, breaking bread together.
Speaker:I think that's what I'm most excited about on my business side.
Speaker:But personally, I'm just I have two boys.
Speaker:They're three and five and an amazing husband.
Speaker:And so I think as a family, we are the strongest, the most connected that we've ever been, especially when it comes to my relationship with my husband.
Speaker:So just to see that that relationship continue to bloom and blossom and how it affects our boys.
Speaker:I'm just I'm truly blessed and so just thankful for them that I'm so excited to see what the future holds for us.
Speaker:We have three boys.
Speaker:So and I've seen my wife undergo the physical experiences of having children.
Speaker:So you've spoken about being and going through the plateaus, right?
Speaker:That you could go through.
Speaker:But you're talking from experience, yeah?
Speaker:Which is fun, right?
Speaker:Because back to back within two years.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:Yes, it was not planned, but God's plan is perfect.
Speaker:So we did five.
Speaker:Yes, I can well imagine for two.
Speaker:We did five years apart.
Speaker:So I can imagine two years apart and then raising them and having the challenges of time crunch and managing having to exercise as well.
Speaker:So I'm really happy you're talking from a perspective of experience.
Speaker:I'd love to know five years from today.
Speaker:You're listening to this conversation.
Speaker:This is message in a bottle.
Speaker:Yeah, it comes back to you.
Speaker:What's a message you'd leave for future you?
Speaker:Just continue to trust the Lord.
Speaker:Don't be distracted or discouraged by what you see visually with your eyes, but continue to trust him and the promises that he has shown you.
Speaker:And just focus on that and keep moving forward.
Speaker:No matter how hard the journey, no matter how difficult, no matter how frustrating, just focus on him and everything is going to be fine.
Speaker:This has been a great pleasure.
Speaker:I appreciate you passing by and having a brief conversation with me in closing.
Speaker:Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Speaker:No, I've just been so honored to be on your podcast.
Speaker:Thank you for allowing me to share with your guests.
Speaker:You are an amazing host.
Speaker:And so just thank you so much for your platform.
Speaker:It is so needed.
Speaker:You're welcome, Ashley.
Speaker:A pleasure.
Speaker:I treasure.
Speaker:Thank you for being on what is inspired by 12 minute converse.
