Kimberly Rash sits down with her longtime friend Tara McCarthy, founder of Prakriti Healing, for a raw and soul baring conversation about faith, fear, and the sacred work of rebuilding your life from the inside out.
Tara opens up about leaving a fifteen year career at a homeless shelter to trust an unexplainable pull toward opening her own healing space, and how that leap of faith turned into four years of steady growth. The two friends trace the winding paths that led them both from traditional religion into a deeper, more personal spirituality, sharing how learning to listen to their bodies, release the fear of what others think, and trust in divine timing has reshaped how they live, work, and show up for the women around them. Along the way they talk candidly about breathwork, energy work, Reiki, and the importance of building a team of trusted practitioners rather than trying to do it all alone.
Kimberly and Tara remind listeners that healing rarely follows a straight line, and that every modality, every mentor, and every season of change has its place. Their conversation is a gentle nudge to trust the nudges of your own body and spirit, even when the path looks nothing like you expected.
"Ladies, listen to your bodies."
"We're allowed to change, and changing is so hard."
"If you can't be happy, if you can't feel relaxed, joy, and have peace, how can you pour that into anybody else?"
"There are no mistakes, right?"
"Everyone's journey is just different."
Tara & Kimm
Kimm: [:Tara: So it actually has been, four years this June that I've been open.
Kimm: I love
th,:Kimm: Nice. Yeah. And before this, you worked with the homeless actually, right?
Kimm: I did, yeah. So we worked together in that, and that's kind of how we connected. We grew up in the same town- Yeah ... but the, we really connected there, and then we reconnected later. Mm-hmm. I remember, knowing you then, that you were already into, you know, wellness and self-healing, and you were very into yoga at that point.
Kimm: I think you were teaching it-
Tara: Yes ...
rom there. And what made you [:Tara: Right. That's a really good question. It's a fun question, too, 'cause I'm...
Tara: I guess it's, like, one of those I don't really know. It's, it was just something I... I was at the shelter for, like, 15 years.
Mm-hmm.
Tara: And then I did leave there in between before I opened my space. Yeah. I, 'cause I went to work for a company, like, recruiting people for massage therapy, and I kinda just noticed how that industry was going- Mm-hmm
Tara: as far as people, trying to work and all that. And then I was like, "I'm gonna just open up my own space."
Kimm: I love that.
Tara: Yeah. And I drove by this building, and I actually have... My boyfriend at the time was in the car with me, and I'm like, "I just wanna be in that building." And I drove by here.
Tara: I have no, had no idea why. Just acting as if, I suppose- Yeah ... right?
Kimm: Yeah.
Tara: And, like, about two to three weeks later, the woman who owns the lash studio called me and asked me if I was looking for a space.
Kimm: That's
Tara: so bananas. And [:Kimm: it was this space. Yeah. Because there are no mistakes, right?
Tara: Right.
Kimm: Everything just innately comes- Yep
Kimm: when it's supposed to come, and I love that. you know where I do that with? And every day, like, when I drive by it, I just know at some point somehow I'm going to have something in that space. Is that humongous, weird estate there, across from the horse farms on 53. Like, when you keep going up on the right-hand side, it's like the White House with the royal blue doors.
Kimm: And it's, it's on, conservation. There's- it's on for sale for like $3 million right now or something, but it's like buildings upon buildings. It's apartments. It's got a huge greenhouse. It's got all this stuff in it. And I have a community thing in my head, not like a go live there community, but a place for women to rest, restore-
Tara: Like
Kimm: a wellness center
harge them for the childcare [:Kimm: and then have wellness spaces in there to, help them rebuild themselves- Yeah ... while doing it, especially people who are really struggling start over from a place of needing healing, right? Right. So I want it to be almost like a restorative place. And I have a whole vision for this place, and so every time I drive by it I'm like, "I can't wait to be in you."
Kimm: I'm
Tara: not even quite sure I know where this is.
Kimm: Oh, so when you leave here, when you go home, take a right.
Tara: Yeah.
Kimm: And then at the end of the lights, take a left, and then eventually on your left, look up. There's gonna be a white house with a royal blue door and shutters. I'll send you it, like a picture of it after.
Kimm: Please do. But this is my place. I just know it is. It's got little cottages onsite. Oh, there you go. But yeah, so I have a dream for there, and I feel like innately at some point in my life, that's where it's gonna happen. I don't know. It may change hands 50 times, but it's been for sale forever. It went from like 6 million to 3 million.
" I have an idea. Yeah. He's [:Tara: try. Good try.
Kimm: But it is amazing, like how when you see something, it's almost like you know.
Kimm: Yeah. And you know, God, the universe, whoever, is just brings it full circle- Yeah ... for you when it's your time.
Tara: Especially if you're specific-
Kimm: Yeah ...
Tara: about what. It's like you're putting it in order-
Kimm: Mm-hmm ... about what you want. E- e- exactly. And you can already feel the way you feel- Yes ... when you're gonna be in that space, right?
Kimm: And that's the whole law of attraction. That's the whole how it works. Yep. You know? The
Tara: feeling.
Kimm: It, it... The same thing, like it, it cracks me up because like people think like prayer, you know, you're praying to God, you're asking for something, and then it just like floats out there or something.
Kimm: But they forget that it's the expectancy, that knowing that is going to be answered. Not if I'm good enough, it's gonna get answered. If I ask enough, it's gonna be answered. But no, I already anticipate the wonderful things that are gonna come from the ask. Right. From the hope, from the faith, from the dream, right?
Kimm: Yeah. So I love that for you.
I decided, I'm like, "That's [:Kimm: I stinking love
Tara: that. Yeah. it's just great.
Tara: I just keep expanding and expanding and-
Kimm: And now you're, you're kinda honing in, right? Yeah. So we were just talking about how right now you're, you're taking a break from social media. Yep. Other than, I know, like, your, your emails go out- Yep ... you know, you keep in touch with your people because now you've built up a, a community, I've run into so many people now going into this circle of people that everybody knows who you are, by the way. Mm-hmm. Oh, wow. Everyone knows who Tara is. Thank you. And everyone loves Tara because... And I'm like, "How could you not?" I'm like, your essence of you is just so lovely. You just glow, and you glowed even when I knew you back in the day.
, because everyone knows you [:Mm-hmm.
Kimm: You know, you don't have to try to be the healer, the person that's trying to fix all your problems because you don't present yourself that way. You're like, "Here, it's a process, and let me help you through it." Yeah. And I don't think people c- you don't make promises that you can't keep. Yeah. And I think that's so important, especially in this field- Yeah
Kimm: that people, especially when they're desperate or tired or exhausted from trying to- Mm ... figure out how to take their next step, is people who are just like, "Come see me. I'm gonna heal you in three, three encounters with me," or whatever that is. Yeah. You know? And you can be like, "Dude, I'm here, and this is what I know I, can do, and we can help try to facilitate that and see if that works for you.
Kimm: And if not, I'm gonna help you find your next step and what that looks like."
Tara: Yeah.
Kimm: Because not all things fit for all people. That's right.
Tara: Right? Yeah, to say that one way of meditation or one way of yoga is the only way for someone is not.
Kimm: Mm-hmm.
Tara: That just, [:Kimm: Yeah, and even- Yeah ... just that one way of thinking, it's so much bigger.
Kimm: Right. And I think in this world right now where we ... I mean, I, I don't know. I wanna say normal people br- probably don't feel it, don't recognize it. They gotta understand something's not right. We're speeding up. Time's speeding up. Everything's speeding up. I feel like the world is elevating, and I feel like honestly, if you're consciously trying to- Beat out the system.
Kimm: Know that the lower, lower vibrations of this world are trying to hamper down the love or the higher vibration that is trying to come through. I feel like it's so hard if you understand it and you know it, it's hard not to try to get other people to understand it. Understand it.
Tara: Absolutely.
feel it different now. Yeah. [:Kimm: I follow the red letter of the Bible. I follow what his actual words were. this will probably send some people reeling, but I would consider- ... myself more of a Christian mystic, um, is- Oh ... is how I, is the language I put it in now. Because I do love my Lord, my God, with all my heart, mind, and soul. I do love Jesus, and he did have a quest on this earth, and he was placed here for a purpose.
Kimm: but I don't believe he was just the Son of God. I believe, he was ... He learned the ways. He was gone from age 12 to 33. He was traveling to India. He was studying with people. He came back and taught people how to go within, and says, "The kingdom of God is within you." You know, it's not this God that you're trying to reach.
ear. My God loves everybody, [:Kimm: So I don't know. Everyone's journey is-
Tara: Yeah ...
Kimm: is just different. You know, I don't have to go to church anymore. I do love worship. Like, this morning before I left, I worship every morning. I sing- Yeah ... and I praise my God. It's
Tara: something you can do anywhere.
Kimm: Yeah. Yeah.
Kimm: And you just do the thing.
Tara: Yeah.
Kimm: And if, if I was to go to church again, I would go just for, if my grandson, needs to go. it's good for morals. It's good for growing up your children in connectivity with other loving people. And I believe most people in church are loving. and I believe when they become unloving, they don't even see it, and someday they get an awakening and they can go, "I-"
Tara: Yeah.
Kimm: "That was interesting."
Tara: Yeah.
Kimm: Am I interviewing you, or am I...
Tara: I love listening to you. We have- I learn so much every time, so I don't care. You can keep going. I know.
Kimm: We have so much fun together. So much
Tara: fun. Yeah.
Kimm: I just love it. Just watching you talk
Tara: is great.
Kimm: Yeah, I just, I don't
a: know And I love this, how [:Tara: I kn- I've known you for so long, and I've watched it, and ... change and evolve for, and it's in the Christian mystic, like, yeah.
Kimm: Mm-hmm.
Tara: Like, absolutely.
Kimm: Yeah. It's, it- That
Tara: hits, like-
Kimm: To, to- ...
Tara: very
Kimm: well ... to think that God isn't energy, to think that... And I believe God is God. How do you put him in a box, right?
Kimm: You can call him whichever you want. You wanna call it Mother, you wanna call it God, you wanna call ... Divine Feminine, Divine Masculine. I mean, there's my other thing. I believe that, in creation, in the Bible it says that we made man in our likeness. Our likeness, right? So if there's an our, which means it's probably God, the Holy Spirit, who I believe is feminine, that they changed that in the Bible context in the Greek to a more male masculine because they wanted more of a patriarchy and women were to be silenced and go away.
Tara: Right.
didn't want us to be, right? [:Kimm: in vegetation, it takes a male and a female to produce a blossom. it's always male and female. So to say that God is up on a, a throne and it's only this male guy who's like, da, da, da, da, you know, and he created his son by himself, well then the Christian church is a little hypocri- critical-
Tara: Right
Kimm: when it comes to men who think that they can have babies. he had to have had a feminine if he created it in our image, 'cause it says our image. So, and I'm a female, so if God isn't female at all, then how am I in his image? That's weird. Mm. So it, m- my brain goes 1,000 miles an hour in 17 different directions and,
ense, when I physically tell [:Kimm: And I'm like-
Tara: Sounds like your third eye opened a lot.
Kimm: Hee, hee. And I was like, and I was like, "Oh, no." And then it was very lonely and very dark and scary for a while. Yeah. But isn't that the way it goes? Mm. And here we are. So coming back to you.
Tara: Before you go on, have you read The Sophia Code?
Kimm: I ha- I actually am in the middle of reading The Sophia Code.
Tara: I just started it. Shut up. Yeah. And I was, as you're talking, it's like, it's just something about it, and I'm like, "I have to ask her about The Sophia Code." And of course you're in the middle of it 'cause we just do these things that are, like, the same. Oh, we do this- We don't even realize it ...
Kimm: all the time. We are so synced.
Kimm: We just always are. So we'll talk
tle more. Yeah. Maybe we can [:Kimm: It's so good, and I just read- I'm so excited about it ... like, the whole, in the Mary Magdalene book- Yeah ... and-
Tara: Someone just said the word to me that they read The Sophia Code, and I was like, "What?"
Kimm: Like you knew you
Tara: had to. Like, my body was like, "Go get that now," so I just got it, and I'm... Yeah, so I'm excited. And you
Kimm: just knew.
Tara: I just knew.
Kimm: Because I feel like people who innately... So, so you didn't grow up as religiously as I did.
Tara: I do not, no. I mean, I was- But- ... I did the things, but to be as in-depth, no. I just did it because that's the way we thought we were supposed to do it, right?
Tara: Yeah. Like, and I knew I was going my own way anyways, like
Kimm: and I love... What I feel like what's happening in the universe right now, and in the world, is the people who became spiritual before they became... you do the things, and then, like, the... And, and you had a connection with Creator, but there was no more depth.
ere's a meeting of the minds [:Kimm: You need to know why you feel the way you feel. You need to understand- That's
Tara: it ...
Kimm: what it is the essence of why you wanna learn what you wanna learn, because it's always been here." And they hid it, and they don't want man to know that they don't have to be captive to this stinking thinking, this... You're, we're not slaves, and they want us to think we are.
Kimm: Slaves to work, slaves to- Mm-hmm ... a government, slaves to- Slaves to
Tara: the
Kimm: world ... the world. And the world isn't a garbage can. God created this world. We're supposed to have this world. It was our gift, and the, and the darker forces that be took that gift from us. And if people get angry enough, but not in an angry way.
t have difference, not have, [:Kimm: It's not the anger, it's not the, the wars and the things, you know? It's just what it is. And I, so I definitely think that you're gonna gain so much more knowledge-
Tara: Yeah ...
Kimm: because God, universe, whatever, is, is teaching you to dig deeper, to know why. someone comes to you with the questions- Mm-hmm
Kimm: and says, "Hey, did you hear blah, blah, blah?" You'd be like, "Actually, I do know that."
Tara: Yeah.
Kimm: And you, this is why, and hey, I encourage you, always do your own research, to read these book, tell me what you think, and we'll have a conversation about that and see how that hits for you.
Tara: Yeah.
Kimm: Right? Yeah. Like you will about Sophia.
Tara: Sophia, yeah. I'm so excited. Yeah, it's awesome.
Kimm: Now So you're, you're starting to more define your practice, right?
Tara: Yes.
if it's secret squirrel and [:Tara: No, no, no. So I my main thing when I opened was, like, massage therapy and, you know, e- energy work, as far as reiki and some of my shamanic things.
Tara: And then I, couple years ago, I just recently did, um, a breathwork training. So I've kind of- Decided to focus more on, like, the breath and body work.
Kimm: Love that.
Tara: Yeah. And just trying to restructure that so it's just so people can understand how powerful the breath is, and not just the breathwork that I do, 'cause there is a difference between the breathwork that I do and pranayama.
Tara: So, but the breathwork I do is more of, like, a tool. It's not something how you would wanna breathe all the time. Mm-hmm. It's definitely a tool to help the body. And pranayama's more of, directing, our prana, which is our life force, To, master it in our body- Yeah ... for like every day.
Kimm: Yeah.
Tara: so what I'm trying to do is just help people understand that, so I'm taking a little break to see how I can restructure that.
in the other episode about, [:Kimm: Yeah. And, and doesn't that make sense, right? Because we actually innately are the breath of life.
Tara: That's right.
Kimm: Right?
Tara: Yeah.
Kimm: Like, God breathed life into his creation. Breath is
Tara: life, yeah.
Kimm: And when you see those pictures and you take breath or lungs or whatever, and you actually compare nature and what God created to those photos, of our lungs, and you see all the bronchioles and all the alveoli and everything that comes down into the lungs, and it branches out and it looks just like a tree.
Kimm: Just like a tree.
Tara: Mm-hmm.
Kimm: there's no mistakes. Right. And again, if we learn to come back to ourselves and learn to come back to the basics-
Tara: Yeah ...
Kimm: that were hidden from us, like, you're not allowed to heal yourself. You need medicine. You need... And don't get me wrong, Western medicine has its place.
t going to. Of course, yeah. [:Tara: Yeah, there's-
Kimm: Some paddles. Yeah. there, there's things you need. So Western medicine, by all means, you know, has its, its place. But these things, breathwork, intentional steps to help us heal in our own space, in our own time-
Tara: Yeah
Kimm: keep us out of the doctor's more often.
Tara: That's right.
Kimm: Right? It c- would help keep healthcare costs down if we actually all learned how to regulate ourselves.
Tara: Mm-hmm. Right? That's right, and that's what it's about, self-regulation and noticing the patterns of our stuff and our lives, our, and our behaviors, and being able to be like, "Okay, pause.
Tara: Notice it. Change it. Hand it over."
Kimm: Mm-hmm. And I think a lot of people sometimes think that being in the work that you're in, that they confuse the difference between you being a conduit- And a therapist.
Tara: Mm.
Kimm: Right? She, like- Like it's, it's hard f- because it's so easy to share.
Tara: Yeah.
ink people come in with this [:Tara: Mm-hmm.
Kimm: And so now you're soaking up all that energy, right? which is fine because you want to be a safe space for the people that you're helping- Right ... walk through.
Tara: That's my, um, very big part of my work is making sure-
Kimm: Right,
Tara: and that trust ... someone can, someone can walk in here like that, and that's okay with me.
Kimm: Yeah. Yeah. And you, you take that trust. Mm-hmm. And then understanding me and like, "Okay, so this is the part I can help you with." Right. "Let, let me offer you some, some other people." Like, so I'm trying to get together, because I am no therapist. I'm a life coach, but I am... I have a degree in psychology, but I don't have a master's degree in counseling.
Kimm: I can life coach you to the steps, but I can't get you through the parts that I'm not legally allowed to do.
Right.
Kimm: Right? So if anyone's listening to this, and you want to give me your information, especially if you're more of a holistic mindset it's- For us to have resources like that.
y, you know, heavier clients [:Tara: Right, we're a team ...
Kimm: cool, together.
Tara: Yeah.
Kimm: Absolutely. That like, we'll help her regulate her breath, you help her regulate her mind. Yeah. get the sadness and all the things out therapy-wise, and we'll help her energy-wise,
Kimm: Right. And try to get all those things sorted out, and everyone has a place.
Tara: Yeah. I was, that's funny you brought that up 'cause I'm starting to like kind of cut my menu down a little bit, what I'm offering, because I do have all these modalities that I can offer, and I'm like, "I'm only one person." And maybe at one point in time I was like, "I can do it all."
Tara: And now I'm like, it's not that I c- I know I can't, I just know that I have people that I can ... I have a good team, and I have good friends- Yeah ... and I know that they're, we can all do ... It's a- it's about collaborating together, like collabor- Yeah ... ation's at the top. 100%.
Kimm: Right?
Tara: Right. And I just feel like, okay, well now I'm just gonna start referring my Reiki clients to other people because I'm gonna focus more on the body work and the breath.
Kimm: Yep.
Tara: So it's like, I don't need all these other distractions-
Kimm: Exactly ...
really am passionate about. [:Kimm: Yeah. '
Tara: Cause I took that off my menu, too. It's like, it's just ... And it's okay. Yeah. Like, I feel ... It, uh, but that was a struggle. and I was trying to go back and forth with it, and then I realized I, just because I don't physically teach practice doesn't mean I'm not teaching yoga still.
Kimm: Yeah, exactly. And
Tara: that was something I was just told recently by someone I'm working with.
Tara: and I really appreciated that 'cause it made me feel so much better.
Kimm: It's hard when your identities morph.
Tara: Yeah.
Kimm: Right?
Tara: That's it,
Kimm: yes. Your, your identity morphs. We're allowed to change, and changing is so hard. Yeah,
orever," like, uh, since like:Tara: How can I just walk away? And what are people gonna think, or how am I gonna feel? And that's
Kimm: it. That's it. We worry so much about what other people are gonna say. We worry so much about what other people think. Yeah,
Tara: I'm like, "Well, they really like me as a teacher. Now ... And I have, I have to be there for them," and I tried.
Tara: And then I was like, "It doesn't, I don't feel it anymore." I-
Kimm: and when it's not bringing you joy-
Tara: That's right. When my body's like, "No," I'm like, "That's a no."
Kimm: [:listen to your bodies ... yeah, listen to your bodies.
Tara: Like if you're, if you feel it, if it's a hard yes or hard no, like you gotta go with it.
Tara: Yeah. There's really no in between.
Kimm: Yeah.
Tara: The in between's really r- The, the
Kimm: in between- Yeah, that's your mind ... is your fear.
Tara: Yeah. In your head.
Kimm: Right? The in between is like-
Tara: All the
Kimm: bullshit ... if I step out and ... Okay, so say I stop, this brings my income in.
Tara: You're right.
Kimm: what, what happens if I stop doing that?
Kimm: And not because I did it just for the income, But you still need to make a living.
Tara: Yeah.
Kimm: So, but what if I take that out and now, I'm not gonna be able to pay my bills because I take that out of my practice, but it's really draining me and I don't wanna do that. Well, it's gotta come.
Tara: I was gonna say-
Kimm: It's gonna come ...
Tara: if we let go of that attachment and that fear- It's
Kimm: gonna, it's gonna overflow- ... it's gonna come ... because you're gonna be able to pour into something else
Tara: Exactly. It's like you take the ... It's like there's too many, like a bucket with holes in it.
Tara: You pour-
Kimm: Always trying to plug
Tara: yeah, or you're trying to pour so much water into a bucket that has holes in it. It's not gonna ... You're not making any really safe container, right?
Kimm: And it will ... Exactly.
Tara: Or secure container.
Kimm: And if you can't be happy, if you can't feel relaxed, joy, and have peace-
Tara: Right ...
Kimm: [:Kimm: Yeah, true. you can fake it till you make it for a little while- Yeah ... but eventually- But your nervous
Tara: system knows the difference.
Kimm: Yeah. W- you will know. Yeah. Your clients may not know, but your spouse will know. Your- Yeah ... your significant other will know and be like, "Dude, why?"
Tara: Your surroundings will start to, like, break and clutter, and all the things will happen.
Kimm: Exactly. Yeah. And you're just like, "Oh, maybe I shouldn't be doing this anymore." Yeah.
Tara: So you just know.
Kimm: And it's so good. And God, it brings all the right people, right? Yeah. Align, aligns you with all the right people.
Tara: It's so true.
Kimm: And it's just easier. It makes it a safer space for you to let those things go because you already know that you're leaving them in good hands with other people.
Kimm: That's it. So you don't feel like you're failing- Yep ... your clients. Nope. And the clients that actually maybe only need that modality right now, they're gonna end up coming back full circle to you at some point for some other thing. because, I don't know, I feel like the relationships that you make, like us, I didn't start as a client.
is it? I'm, not only am I a [:Tara: a
Kimm: Client ... I'm, yeah, that's the hair club for men.
Tara: Yeah.
Kimm: I am a hair club for men for Tara. I
Tara: love it. Oh my goodness.
Kimm: I love trying all your things. Mm-hmm. And it, I wish I had more time to participate in more of your things. Right. I was so annoyed because the one that you guys just did last Saturday? The summer solstice in Plympton.
Tara: Oh, yeah.
Kimm: I wanted to do that so bad. I'm like, "Dude, it's two minutes from my house," like-
Tara: We do another one in September, I believe.
Tara: Ooh. So I'll give you the info on that. For
Kimm: the fall equinox?
Tara: Yes. Oh. I think it's the, the 19th. I don't wanna... Don't take my word on that, but I'm pretty sure that's when it is. Not advertised yet, but I just got word yesterday that that's probably when it's gonna be, so.
Kimm: That would be really good 'cause- Yeah
Kimm: I'm in Aruba from the 10th to the 14th, so don't do it in those days. Okay,
Tara: I won't. I won't.
Kimm: But it's, just down the street from me, andI'm like, I wanted to go so bad. Yeah, it was magical. And then all of a sudden, my friends were like, "Hey, we wanna do this. Will you come in?" And I'm like, I hadn't seen them in a while, so I'm like, "Yes, of course I'm coming."
Kimm: No,
Tara: yeah.
h ... to be in more than one [:Tara: Yeah.
Kimm: I just project myself over there. Yeah, you can do that.
Kimm: It's, this Reiki thing is funny because, I had a friend who loves me very much, reached out to me yesterday and was like, "I noticed on your website that you're doing Reiki." She's like, "And do you remember," "when you told me that like Reiki wasn't good?" Mm. And I was like, "I did."
Tara: I love this.
Kimm: I did.
Tara: This is what I'm talking about, the, you, this whole like-
Kimm: Yeah, the- ... remember when you called me- ... whole full circle ... I'm like, "Yes." It... I know. "Here she is." Like- I'm like, "Tara, something's happening to
Tara: me- Yeah ...
Kimm: and I need to talk to you." I'm like, "Let's do it." I'm like, and you were the only person, the only person, like, that there was no other.
Kimm: I knew I would feel safe with you. I knew I could explain whatever crazy I had going on in my brain- Mm-hmm ... about my questions and "Hey, this is all happening to me." And when my friend reached out and she's like, "Remember you warned me about Reiki, and you warned me about w- yoga and whatever."
t I believed. I'm like, "But [:Kimm: And, she said it was because I was doing yoga, and she told me that she knew I was going to go get a Reiki certification the next day, and so, and she told me, "If you go," she's like, "and you practice Reiki," she's "you're gonna do really well at it."
Kimm: She's like, "I actually see you in hospital rooms and doing Reiki over h- ORs." She's like, "And you'll make a lot of money, and you'll be really successful, but you're going to hell," is what she told me. that put the fear of God in me- Yeah. Mm ... because I, I was a Christian- Ooh ... and I walked with Jesus. And I'm like, "Oh," like, like, "Okay, Lord," like, "You don't have to tell me twice," "I'm on it,"
Tara: Right.
ngs, like I shouldn't do it. [:Kimm: she had these big black eyeballs, and she worked with me all night, and then she just was like, "You can't do it. You need to, you need to not." So Jodi, I like e- sent her an email, and I'm like, "I'm so sorry," like, "Thank you so much for the opportunity, but like God told me I can't do it."
Kimm: And she's probably like, which she was like, "What do you mean?" go... And I'm just like... She's like, "You saying I'm evil?" I'm like, "No, no, no. I'm not." I'm like, "I'm just, I'm scared now," she's like, "Here," like we- the next day she called. She's like, "You can still come." And I'm like, "Oh, well, the devil's chasing me," like, I don't all these things.
nse. I don't think some evil [:Kimm: When, when I said to my bosses, "Hey, am I training Evangeline t- again tonight?" They said, "Who?" And I said, "The lady that I trained last night." And she said, "Kim, you were working by yourself." What? Oh, I never told you that story?
Tara: I don't- Eh. I think I would've felt differently if you did.
Kimm: It's like, and I said, "Yeah, Evangeline." Yeah. And so I said to the girl who was staying in the room, so I was at the family shelter in Middleborough at the time- Yeah ... Conway House, and the girl who was in the room diagonal from my front desk, I looked at her and I said, I said, "Hey." I said, "The lady that was working with me last night," I said, "You saw her, right?"
they didn't employ her, the [:Kimm: And she told me that I will surely die if I do reiki or yoga. And that scared the life out of me. So I'm in my church, like, telling everyone, "Don't do it. Oh, my God. Are you kidding?" Like, "You are gonna burn. Everyone's gonna burn." Wow. And I remember my cousin being like-
Tara: I didn't know this much in depth of it.
Kimm: Yeah. I'm just like, me, 'cause I've been spiritual all my life, and so I've seen in the spirit, and I've cast out darker entities, and I had one in my house. my husband and I at that point were, like, basically sleeping on the front stairs. Wow. because it would sit on my chest- Yeah ... at night and drag me off my bed once.
Kimm: would keep me with no voice. It, it was crazy.
Tara: Ooh, it's trying to stop your voice.
Kimm: That's interesting. So when you- And here you, here
Tara: you are now.
Kimm: Right? So when you think about
Tara: it- It didn't want you to get past that point. You had, 'cause you have- So here ... so, so many messages.
Tara: Yeah.
Kimm: All these things.
Tara: That's wild.
Kimm: Isn't that nuts?
Tara: Yeah.
were already put in my life [:Tara: Right.
Kimm: There was a reason why we met when we met, how we met, and there's just always been this connection between you and I.
Yeah.
Kimm: And when the time was right, God knew that I was gonna need you. And so we just kept that space open, and then you were like, "Come on in, sister."
Tara: Yeah.
Kimm: Like-
Tara: Of course. I was like, "Yes."
Kimm: And, and- "Let's
Tara: do it" ...
Kimm: we've been doing us ever since.
Tara: Yeah. And I've just watched you just expand and it's amazing.
Kimm: And I just, and I just love- True alchemist
Kimm: promoting you, and I love telling everyone, I'm like, "Oh, go see Tara." Yeah. "Go see Tara." Thank you. Are you
Tara: still doing the massage? I appreciate that. Oh, yeah. Yeah. That's at the body work part. Like, the massage part will never, probably ever- Cool. It may, it may slow down a little bit as time goes on, but that, I don't see that happening.
and just watching someone's [:Kimm: Yeah.
Tara: I can tell what's hap- I can see what's happening. So all that together is gonna stay, for sure. So I'm kinda blending it all.
Kimm: I love
Tara: that. I'm trying to figure that out, how to blend it and, like, make it, like, some kind of program where people, you know, do body work one week, the next week they do a little breathwork, and kinda go back and forth just to see how as connected it all truly is.
Kimm: I absolutely love that.
Tara: I know, me too, and it's, uh, it's something I've been thinking about for a while, but it's, I also work a little slower, so... And that's okay for me. Like, I just have to take it one step at a time.
Kimm: Yeah. '
Tara: Cause I get very overwhelmed with, with- like computers and social media, and putting all the things together and then- It's so fun
Tara: and then la- and then launching it, it's like I just... Yeah, it's, it's kind of I'd, I'd like to see how I can do things differently for the rest of the summer and then come back in September a little bit, a little bit different. So-
Kimm: And also refreshed, right?
Tara: That's it. Yeah. It's like I feel like, you know, I'm gonna put my boots to the ground.
Tara: I am gonna like go to places and introduce myself and just like kind of the way it used to be.
Kimm: Yeah.
somebody before and see the [:Tara: I'm all about case studies.
Kimm: I love that.
Tara: Yeah.
Kimm: I love that.
Tara: So that's what's gonna happen. I've been, I'm a
Kimm: science-y chick
Tara: myself and- That's, yes, that's ... I'm just gonna go around and be like, "Hey, this is what I offer," when I wanna do breathwork at other places, 'cause I can only hold so many people downstairs, and I do wanna be out in the community 'cause that is important for me.
Tara: For a while I didn't think that's where I was supposed to be. I was kind of hiding myself.
Kimm: Yeah.
Tara: And then I'm like, "No, dude, like you are supposed to be out there." the, you are supposed to be out there. It, to my comfort level of course and what I can do capacity-wise. But yeah, so I'm gonna get back out there too
Kimm: a little.
Kimm: I love that.
Tara: Yeah.
Kimm: She's like, "I'm gonna go back to, to like just green roots." Yeah. "We're just gonna, we're just gonna do it." And I'm gonna go,
Tara: I'm gonna travel a little bit, not necessarily stay on the South Shore, 'cause there's enough around here.
Kimm: Yeah.
Tara: And I love that. But
Kimm: don't ever leave here.
Tara: Oh, no. leave here, but I do need to, um, I am ca- I feel called to just, I do need to move around.
Kimm: Yeah.
hit a couple countries- Kind [:Kimm: That lovely girl that you had here who did the energetics, right? Yep. See, I see she's like North Shore, Rhode Island- Yep ... the Cape.
Tara: Oh, yeah.
Kimm:
Tara: Cameron?
Kimm: Yeah. Yeah,
Tara: she's awesome. I
Kimm: feel
Tara: like- She's smart. Yeah.
Kimm: That was a great session.
Tara: Yeah, she's great. She,
she's
Tara: a great lady. I'm glad she got down here. Now she's d- in Norwell quite a bit more, which is good, so she's got her roots a little bit.
Kimm: Yeah.
Tara: And that's why when I saw that, I'm like, "You gotta come down here."
Tara: That's, that's how I operate too. It's like I want everyone to succeed.
Kimm: Yeah.
Tara: and I'm gonna tell people about people, even if it's the same thing that I do. Mm-hmm. I am not a, like worried at all.
Kimm: Because whatever's supposed to stick with you is
Tara: gonna stick with you That's it.
Tara: Or it's like you just bring something, some people bring something a little different into their breathwork. I do these, they might not do that, and it's like, and there's just enough.
Kimm: Yeah.
Tara: If we could all just see that, like.
Kimm: Well, and that's what I, I always tell people, like, when people are like, "Oh," back when I was in church, and people are like, "I'm trying to find a church," and they'd try this one, they'd be like, "It was weird."
hoose to worship this way or [:Kimm: person that's just gonna click with you. Right. And when they do, oh good. Yeah. But you wouldn't know unless people shared, right? Yeah,
Tara: exactly.
Kimm: And again, people who live in a mindset of fear, jealousy, envy-
Tara: That's right ...
Kimm: and I think fear is, is the stronghold there really. Oh, yeah, for sure. Like non-success.
Kimm: Everything builds,
Tara: yeah.
Kimm: Like being like- From fear ... "Oh, well, if I even let three people go, like, I'm gonna not have what I have." Yeah.
Tara: I tell people, I'm like, "If you, if you feel-" It's sad. Yeah. I'm like, "You know what? If you feel like, and I..." I'm like, "I can have, I can recommend you to a bunch of other people I've known."
Tara: Mm-hmm. I know other people.
Kimm: And learning just not to take offense, right? Yeah, no. offense is just one of those things that it just, it hurts you more than it hurts anybody else, right? It does. And honestly, it's just like anything else. once you let go of it- it's gone. That's it. Like- It just-
Kimm: it takes no more space in your head.
Tara: Yep.
u can just go back to having [:Tara: Yep. That's right.
Kimm: Right? And, and just being in your space. Because I look around here, and I was just... Actually, I was just in the parking lot while I was waiting, 'cause I didn't wanna intrude in case you were doing anything super early, and we're both early birds- Yeah
Kimm: so I was like, "Oh, it's 7:30." Oh,
Tara: yeah. I then looked- I was in here. I was just clearing opening space- Ta-da ... and all the things, so yeah.
Kimm: And so I was like, "You know what? I'm gonna give her a hot minute." So I was just in, the Tula Soul parking lot over there, and then I'm like, "Spa, Tula Soul. Another one." Yep.
Kimm: there are, so many different, like, just wellness things just in that- That building ... little- Yeah ... place.
Tara: Mm-hmm.
Kimm: Actually, you went to Tula Soul.
Tara: Yep.
Kimm: Right? You did the- I
Tara: did breathwork there.
Kimm: Yeah?
Tara: Yeah. Oh, no. Do you mean as far as- Did you do float? Did you do the float?
Tara: I didn't float. I did their salt and sound, which was awesome.
Kimm: Yeah?
Tara: Yeah. I really, really liked that.
Kimm: I was watching their videos the other day. we went to high school with her.
Tara: Yeah.
Kimm:
Tara: Janice is awesome ...
Kimm: yeah, actually weird, and she pulled up. If you're listening to this- I'm the creep- Hey, Janice
but I saw their, float bath [:Tara: Try it. You'd probably like it.
Kimm: Yeah. Yeah. I was just like, "Maybe I wanna be buoyant like the Dead Sea."
Tara: Oh, that's... I did it once. Not there, but I have done it, and that, I felt like when I was, in it, I was reborn.
Kimm: Yeah? It
Tara: was an interesting feeling for me. Interesting. I was like, I was like, "Oh, wow."
Kimm: Now, did you do the pod?
Tara: Yeah, it was a pod. Like, it, it closes over you. Yeah. Yeah. I think hers is open.
Kimm: Yeah.
Tara: But I've done a ... I think. I, I shouldn't say it 'cause I don't know.
Kimm: No, her bath is open, but did you do the, the red, the red light?
Kimm: Was that a pod or was that just-
Tara: Oh ... '
Kimm: cause I know she has a pod thing. Oh
Tara: yeah, I did that one too. So I've done the salt and sound, then the, I for- it was the cocoon something, and it was like- yeah, it was like a pod. It was like the red ... Yes, the infra- The red light
Kimm: therapy- ...
Tara: infrared with the sauna ... plus
Kimm: like, yeah.
Tara: Yeah, it was good. Yeah, that was really cool. And the little vibration. It was neat. '
Kimm: so for our work for the girls, we have, dental assisting appreciation week so I got all the girls, we all went to the Citrate salt caves. Oh.
Tara: Oh, love it there.
Kimm: It's so fun. I love
Tara: it there.
hey don't really know about, [:Kimm: "and do that." The only one it didn't work for is my stepdaughter, 'cause she's sensory, and, the feeling- The feeling of the salt ... of the salt. Oh, I can see that. She was like, everyone's so relaxed, and all of a sudden you hear my daughter Molly, like, moving, and "Ugh," and she's just like- Yeah
Kimm: she's like, "I loved the relaxation, the sound." She would do better in just, like, a sound bath.
Tara: Right.
Kimm: Like, like one of your sound baths, like when you guys do it, and she's just laying on a mat, and there's no weird texture- Yeah ... atmosphere things. I think Molly would 100% benefit from that.
Kimm: But the salt, like, in the air, in- 'Cause you
Tara: can feel it.
Kimm: Yeah. Yeah. She was just like, "Oh God," like, "No." She gets done and I'm just like- Oh ... "Mol, you good?" And she's like, "Ugh,
Tara: no." Nope.
Kimm: Let me out. So, so note to self, if you have anyone that's sensory- Yeah ... they may not always appreciate the salt caves. But again, there's modality for everybody.
Tara: Right.
Kimm: There is. And then [:Tara: Mm-hmm.
Kimm: And then I had mentioned, EMDR, and, my, a girl in my life absolutely hated it. another person who had, trauma, tremendous trauma, but also a different kind of sensory issues.
Kimm: That did not work for her at all, and she was like, "Yep, nope, bye, see ya." Yeah.
Tara: I haven't tried that one.
Kimm: I have not. and there's therapists that specialize in that kind of stuff I do highly suggest if you have been through trauma, by all means, be with therapists and people who are licensed to walk you through that.
Tara: Yeah.
Kimm: And then let people like us help you with the other parts of that modality, And making you just feel safe and loved, and love yourself.
Tara: Yeah.
Kimm: that you're worthy to take space for yourself and heal.
Tara: Yeah.
Kimm: Right?
Tara: Absolutely.
Kimm: So what are you, what are you doing today?
Tara: I have a few clients today.
Tara: I have a couple massages and then I have a bre- private breath work client.
Kimm: Ooh. Yeah.
Tara: I love- So
Kimm: I
Tara: love that ...
Kimm: how is the private, breath work going? Good?
Tara: It's going really good. Yeah. Yeah? It's, it's definitely building.
Kimm: That's awesome.
Tara: I do have ... And [:Tara: Some people like to try the private before they try a group, or people go into the groups and they're like, "Oh, I'd like to see what the private's like." It's like
Kimm: that myself.
Tara: So it's, yeah, it's, it's been great. I really, really like it.
Kimm: That's awesome.
Tara: Yeah. It's
Kimm: cool. That's awesome. So I'll probably start wrapping it up now.
Kimm: Absolutely. Thank you ... so much for being with me. Yeah. We're gonna do this again. Maybe once a month we'll do, like, the Kim and Tara show. And-
Tara: I think that's a great
Kimm: idea. I think we should do the Kim and Tara show. And then, ooh, when we get back to talking from the Sophia.
Tara: Yes. I cannot ... I'm so excited that I- I'm not surprised, and I love it that I brought it up. I'm glad I brought it up 'cause I wasn't gonna say it. I'm like, "Just
Kimm: say it." See, it's 'cause something told you. I'm like, "If I don't say it- Just say it ... I wouldn't have, you wouldn't have been able to
Kimm: talk about it." So yeah, maybe we'll come back and talk about that and then see whatever pops up because we just are us, and organically we just- And
Tara: it's- ...
Kimm: end up being us ...
Tara: awesome.
Kimm: And I love us.
Tara: I love us too.
Kimm: I love you. I
Tara: love you.
Kimm: All right. All right. So you guys ...
Tara: Thanks everyone.
I will see you, in the next [:Kimm: But you will see Tara again. Thanks. Have a great day.
Tara: Bye.
Kimm: Bye.
