Shownotes

There's a sentence that has quietly killed more memberships than any bad idea ever has: I just need to finish one more thing before I launch. It sounds so responsible. You're not procrastinating, you're preparing. But watch what happens to it over a few months. Just the welcome video. And the resource library. And I should probably record the whole first course. And the branding needs work, and all three tiers, and six months of content so I'm not scrambling. Suddenly it's been five months, the doors have never opened, and you're further from launching than when you started.

Your membership does not have to be done to launch. It probably shouldn't be. The version you open with should be dramatically smaller than the one in your head, and not as a sad compromise. Launching small is the smarter way to build the thing, because everything you make before you have members is a guess, and guesses are expensive.

In this episode:

  • The five things a membership actually needs on day one, and the long list you can skip entirely
  • Why founding members who help shape the thing become your most loyal people for years
  • How I'm doing exactly this right now, dripping my five-stage system out piece by piece and letting members tell me what to build next
