Shownotes

Research conducted by Dr. Arin Greene and Christopher Sudduth called Lower extremity lymphatic function predicted by body mass index: a lymphoscintigraphic study of obesity and lipedema published in the International Journal of Obesity in September 2020. The authors are interested in helping to make a distinction between lymphedema, obesity, and lipedema to help medical providers make a more accurate diagnosis, and to guide treatment appropriate to the condition that's actually there, and allow some way of estimating or predicting what the treatment outcomes will be. They concluded that the risk of lymphedema in patients with obesity and lipedema can be predicted by BMI through lymphoscintigraphy.
