Ivy: a preview of what's coming in: Ivy:I'm Ivy.
Art:And I'm Art.
Art:Join us as we delve into inspiring stories, insightful discussions, and the latest news from the Spiritist community.
Art:Let's get started.
Ivy:As another year draws to a close, it's a perfect time for reflection.
Ivy: How has: Art:It's been a year of deepening understanding for me, Ivy.
Art:Learning more about the principles of spiritism and trying to apply them in daily life has been a real focus.
Art:What about you?
Ivy:Also, I've been focusing on connection with my inner self, with others, and with the spiritual world.
Ivy: progress and looking ahead to: Ivy:I'm filled with a sense of hope and excitement for what's to come.
Art:Me, too.
Art:So much potential for growth and new experiences.
Art:I'm looking forward to exploring new ways to connect with the Spiritist community and deepen my spiritual awareness.
Ivy:The holiday season is here, and it is a time for giving.
Ivy:So let's shine a spotlight on a group that truly embodies that spirit.
Ivy:For 22 years, the Alan Kardec Fellowship Society of San Diego has been bringing joy to underserved communities in Tiju, Mexico, with their annual Christmas celebration.
Art:That's incredible, Ivy.
Art:Over two decades of dedication to spreading holiday cheer.
Art:Tell us more about this year's event.
Ivy:This year, A team of 36 volunteers journeyed to Tijuana on December 7, bearing gifts and spreading warmth.
Ivy:They personally delivered 500 toys to excited children, bringing smiles to their faces and creating a magical Christmas experience.
Art:Wow.
Art:500 toys.
Art:That's a significant impact.
Art:It's not just about the gifts, though, is it?
Art:It's about the human connection.
Art:The act of giving and sharing.
Art:The spirit of the season.
Ivy:Exactly.
Ivy:They also provided 600 hot dogs, 600 cups of Coke, and 500 bags of candy, ensuring that everyone had a warm meal and sweet treats to enjoy.
Ivy:And their compassion extended beyond the children.
Art:What do you mean?
Ivy:They also recognize the needs of the area's stray animals, providing 40 pounds of dog food and 20 pounds of cat food.
Ivy:It's a beautiful example of how compassion can encompass all beings.
Art:That's heartwarming, Ivy.
Art:It's a reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference, but their giving doesn't.
Art:End with the holidays, does it?
Ivy:No, it doesn't.
Ivy:The Alan Kardec Fellowship Society continues their support throughout the year by delivering monthly food baskets to these communities.
Ivy:For just $30 a month, you can sponsor a family and contribute to making a meaningful difference in their lives.
Ivy:We'll have a link to their website in our show notes for anyone who wants to learn more or become a sponsor.
Ivy:Shifting Gears a bit alright, let's dive into news briefs from around the world.
Ivy:I want to talk about some fascinating research that explores the intersection of mediumship and consciousness.
Art:Always a captivating topic, Ivy.
Art:What have you discovered?
Ivy:A new article titled what Does Mediumship Tell Us about the Mind beyond the Brain?
Ivy:Has been published in the International Review of Psychiat.
Ivy:It's authored by Mariana de Abreco Costa and Alexander Moreira Almeida.
Art:Those are some prominent names in the field.
Art:What's the focus of their research?
Ivy:They delve into mediumship as a potential window into understanding the mind's ability to exist beyond the brain.
Ivy:It's a thought provoking exploration of consciousness, suggesting that the mind might not be confined to the physical realm.
Art:That's a bold proposition, Ivy.
Art:It challenges conventional scientific understanding.
Ivy:It does, Art.
Ivy:But that's what makes it so intriguing.
Ivy:This research contributes to a growing body of evidence that suggests consciousness may not be solely dependent on brain activity.
Ivy:The article is part of a larger collection exploring evidence and perspectives on the survival of consciousness, a subject that has captivated thinkers for centuries.
Ivy:On a more somber note, Art, we also want to acknowledge the passing of a remarkable figure in the field of Consciousness Studies, Dr.
Ivy:Peter Fenwick.
Art:A significant loss Ivy.
Art:Dr.
Art:Fenwick's work was truly groundbreaking.
Art:Can you remind our listeners about his contributions?
Ivy:Absolutely.
Ivy:Dr.
Ivy:Fenwick was a British neuropsychiatrist and neurophysiologist, renowned for his pioneering research on epilepsy, near death experiences, or NDEs and end of life phenomena.
Art:He was initially skeptical about NDEs, wasn't he?
Ivy:Yes, he was.
Ivy:But after hearing compelling accounts from his patients, his perspective shifted dramatically.
Ivy:He went on to collect and analyze over 300 cases, significantly advancing our understanding of these experiences.
Art:His work helped to legitimize the study of NDEs, bringing it into the realm of scientific inquiry.
Ivy:Precisely.
Ivy:And he co authored several influential books with his wife Elizabeth Fenwick, including the Art of Dying.
Ivy:He also advocated for more holistic approaches to end of life care.
Art:It's also worth mentioning his connection to the spiritist community.
Ivy:Absolutely.
Ivy:Der Fenwick participated in many spiritist events and congresses, sharing his insights and contributing to the dialogue between science and spirituality.
Ivy:He will be deeply missed.
Art:Let's shift gears now and talk about some exciting new resources available for those looking to deepen their understanding of spiritism.
Ivy:There's so much great content out there, Art.
Ivy:Where should we start?
Art:How about with Sembradoris Deleuze?
Art:They've launched a new nine episode series focused on practicing the Gospel at home.
Ivy:This sounds fantastic for families wanting to connect with the Gospel's teachings on a deeper level.
Art:Exactly.
Art:The series guides viewers on how to cultivate this enriching habit of gathering as a family to discuss spiritual teachings.
Ivy:What else is new in the world of Spiritist media?
Art:Well, the Spiritist Talk series has some compelling new episodes.
Art:In the Company of Wolves by Glaucio Pessoa and the Spiritist View of Jesus by Flavio Zanetti are both thought provok.
Art:And for those seeking comfort and inspiration, there's Ask and you'd Shall True Stories about Prayer by Marco Magales.
Ivy:Those sound wonderful.
Ivy:And for those looking for shorter insights, what's new in the Spiritual Light and Psychology and Spirituality segments?
Art:Spiritual Light tackles some big questions like the fear of old age and death, why spirits reincarnate, and the importance of not judging.
Art:The Psychology and Spirituality series explores understanding fear, healing pain, managing anger and self discovery, all from a Spiritist perspective.
Ivy:A lot to delve into there.
Ivy:And what about the Camille Flammarion series?
Ivy:Any updates?
Ivy:There?
Art:The final episode is out.
Art:It's a roundtable discussion with various speakers and of course the entire series is available for those who want to explore Flammarion's profound insights.
Ivy:This all sounds amazing Art.
Ivy:So much to explore.
Ivy:Now, speaking of sharing and spreading the word, tell us about this new Discover Spiritism campaign.
Art:This is a fantastic initiative by the Spiritist Institute to spark conversations about spiritism in everyday life.
Art:They've created these really cool stickers, buttons and magnets featuring Spiritist quotes and concepts.
Ivy:I saw those.
Ivy:They're eye catching and thought provoking.
Ivy:A great way to subtly introduce Spiritism to others.
Ivy:Where can people find them?
Art:You can find them at different Spiritist events in the US and the uk and you can also get them online through the Spiritist Institute's website.
Art:We'll include a link in the show notes.
Ivy:Perfect.
Ivy:And for those who aren't ready for the merchandise, how else can they participate in the campaign?
Art:Sharing is caring.
Art:Use the hashtag Spiritist or Spiritism when sharing Spiritist content online.
Art:There are so many misconceptions about spiritism and this is a great way to spread positive, accurate information.
Ivy:That's a simple yet powerful way to contribute.
Ivy:Every little bit helps.
