Shownotes
Pre- and post-holiday trade brought stronger action to soybeans, wheat and the livestock markets. Harvest is also moving along at a quicker pace than in recent years, with heat helping push crop maturity ahead. Attention now turns to Friday’s WASDE report, where there is a possibility USDA crop production forecasts could begin to reflect the impact of recent extreme heat in some areas of the fall-harvested crops.
Cattle trade also showed renewed strength, with cash business finally coming together late Friday and into Saturday. Southern cash cattle traded at a firm $223, about $1 higher on the week, with some light trade at $223 reported in the North as well. Hopes are that firmness will continue this week.
