Shownotes

In this episode of THE TALENT DEVELOPMENT HOT SEAT, Andy’s guest is Kiana Davari, the Head of People for Sorare. Sorare is a global online fantasy football game leveraging NFTs and blockchain technology. It’s a startup with about 30 employees based in Paris, and Kiana Davari is charged with growing the team in Europe and the U.S. to strengthen their position as the dominant global player in the NFT space.

Prior to joining Sorare, Kiana Davari was the Head of Rideshare and International Talent at Lyft, and she was also the company’s first recruiter in 2013.

In this interview, you’ll hear:

  1. What’s exciting about nonfungible tokens (NFTs) and blockchain technology and how Kiana Davari explains it to other people who aren’t familiar with them.
  2. Her experience as a user of Lyft and how that influenced her decision to leave Facebook and become Lyft’s first recruiter.
  3. Why hiring the right people is so important to growing and scaling a startup company like Lyft and how she plans to help Sorare create a similar level of growth.
  4. How she finds and retains the best talent and how you can apply those lessons to your own organization.
  5. The reason she left Lyft for another startup company, why she’s excited about blockchain technology, and what excites her about Sorare.
  6. Kiana Davari’s philosophy around attracting and retaining top talent as the company grows.
  7. How Sorare provides development opportunities for their employees as a small startup.
  8. Why there isn’t a formal learning and development process in place yet and what makes that exciting for her.
  9. What women are doing to break through barriers in tech and what they can do to continue to gain equality and inclusion in this space.
  10. The advice Kiana Davari would give to women looking to grow their careers in the tech space and gain a seat at the table as business partners.
