The Gossip Girl Theme Performed By Steve Marchion.
Yeah, Morgantown can affair.
Leif:People are gonna go to the wrong place. Try steam.
Leif:And they're gonna be like, what the. Hey up
Leif:Residers. And all you scandal loving listeners out
Leif:there, you just tuned into the non judging
Leif:breakfast pod where the coffee is strong, the
Leif:waffles are fresh, and the gossip is hotter than
Leif:ever. My name is Leif and I'm your seasoned Gossip
Leif:Girl veteran.
Steve:And I'm Steve, the newbie, the greenhorn, the
Steve:rookie, the what, uh, are we saying now, Leif?
Steve:We're at the end of season four.
Leif:I don't know, but just tell me that no one's
Leif:trying to stop a wedding, run a Ponzi scheme, or
Leif:give anybody fake cancer, or turn into a
Leif:justifiably vengeful townie.
Steve:Oh, I think it's actually all of the above at one
Steve:point or another.
Leif:Oh, boy.
Steve:Oh, boy. So here's the deal, folks. Leap has been
Steve:watching Gossip Girl since it first aired, and I'm
Steve:diving in for the first time. And together, we're
Steve:your dynamic duo, bringing you all the drama,
Steve:romance, and sometimes questionable fashion
Steve:choices of this iconic 2007 series.
Leif:Bring your magnifying glasses because we're
Leif:dissecting every juicy detail of the show one
Leif:episode at a time. We'll connect the dots, uncover
Leif:those sneaky little Easter eggs, and of course,
Leif:serve up some piping hot behind the scenes tea.
Leif:And expect some iconic fan in the moments too,
Leif:because what's a deep dive without a little drama?
Steve:And since we are all about inclusivity here at the
Steve:non judging breakfast spot, there is always a seat
Steve:for you at the non judging breakfast table. So go
Steve:ahead and grab a mimosa, roll up something from
Steve:Nate and Chuck stash, or grab a cup of coffee, and
Steve:let's go ahead and dive into this one.
Leif:Diving into the snow. Snowmageddon.
Steve:Snowmageddon.
Leif:Remote.
Steve:Yeah, I had to go remote again because of. Of the
Steve:snow. Again. 26. It is a lot of snow. I tried to
Steve:stay up last night for the beginning of it and I
Steve:was like, ah, uh, nothing's happening. This ain't
Steve:shit.
Leif:No. I can't believe Adam was out driving in it.
Steve:Yeah, at the same time I can, but, you know, I
Steve:just wanted to test the roads. No, don't. Don't
Steve:test the roads. They're bad.
Leif:But we are here to Talk about Season 4, Episode
Leif:22, the Wrong Goodbye. Original air date was May
Leif:16, 2011 and of course it was based on the movie
Leif:the Wrong Guy. Uh, this movie was directed by
Leif:David, uh, Steinberg and, uh, stars Dave Foley and
Leif:David Anthony Higgins and Jennifer Tilly. So the
Leif:description from IMDb reads, After his boss is
Leif:murdered, uh, Nelson is on the run for fear of
Leif:prosecution. He hides out in a small town to avoid
Leif:the police, which should be easy because they know
Leif:they didn't do it and they are looking for him.
Steve:Yeah, I love this movie. I actually saw this movie
Steve:when it may have been a direct to vhs, but if it
Steve:went into the theaters, I saw it there. I'm. I
Steve:love Dave Foley. Dave Foley is actually one of my
Steve:favorite, favorite actors. Uh, in fact, Dave Foley
Steve:and Steven Root being in a show together is
Steve:probably one of my favorite sitcoms of all time
Steve:with news radio. So I have seen the wrong guy.
Steve:Now, here's the other thing. I thought that this
Steve:title was based off of the Long Goodbye. Yeah.
Steve:Because. Which I thought would have made more
Steve:sense because of the long goodbye that is taking
Steve:place in the episode. Whereas the Wrong Guy.
Leif:That also kind of works too.
Steve:Yeah. Uh, thematically with that. With that movie.
Steve:I mean, first of all, it is hilarious because this
Steve:guy is on the run from the police, but the police
Steve:aren't looking for him. The police know that
Steve:someone else is guilty of this crime. As a fact.
Steve:There is no interest. So this guy is on the run
Steve:from people who aren't looking for him. And it is
Steve:hilarious.
Leif:Uh, so for the nine hardcore David Foley fans who
Leif:have never heard of this movie, you are to be
Leif:forgiving because this came out in 1997. So
Leif:there's a few good movies that came out in 1997.
Steve:Yeah, yeah.
Leif:Boogie Nights, Jackie Brown.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:As good as it gets.
Steve:Yeah, yeah.
Leif:One Oscar. Good. Uh, Will Hunting.
Steve:Yep.
Leif:Louisiana. Confidential.
Steve:Oh, wow. Yeah.
Leif:A little small time indie movie might. The
Leif:Titanic. Austin Powers.
Steve:Uh-huh.
Leif:Donnie Brasco.
Steve:No. Wow.
Leif:The Fifth Element.
Steve:Yeah. Wow. I thought that was earlier, actually,
Steve:but no, no.
Leif:Grosse Pointe Blank.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:I was not a big fan, but it was popular because
Leif:it's Julia Roberts, uh, My Best Friend's Wedding.
Steve:Oh. I was in a relationship at the time, and so I
Steve:saw that in the theater.
Leif:Starship Troopers.
Steve:Oh, wow.
Leif:The Chris Farley classic. Beverly Hills Ninja.
Steve:He was still alive in 97. No, I guess he had died
Steve:before it came out. Actually, I. I think that may
Steve:have been released posthumously.
Leif:The final, uh. Or, uh, not. I guess not the final
Leif:one, but the final one. Chevy Shay says the star
Leif:Vegas Vacation.
Steve:Oh, yeah. The worst vacation.
Leif:I actually like that one personally, because Chevy
Leif:Chase is the least featured in that one. It
Leif:features more. This focus is more on Rusty.
Steve:Um, I'm. I. It's funny because now that I say
Steve:that, I'm not sure if I've seen the whole thing.
Steve:And the only thing that I have seen was a
Steve:fantastic scene in it. And it's where they go
Steve:into, like, the. The low end casino and they're
Steve:playing games like, what hand is it in? And stuff
Steve:like that. Like, all of the, like, so easy to
Steve:cheat and win games.
Leif:But wait, there's more. Jurassic park, uh, Lost
Leif:World.
Steve:Oh, number. That was the third one, right?
Leif:Yeah, I believe so. And also In N Out with Kevin
Leif:Kline.
Steve:Oh, yeah, I saw that in the theater, too. I saw
Steve:many of these in the theater. And then there's a
Steve:few that I just still to this day have not seen.
Leif:So back to Gossip Girl. This episode was written
Leif:by, uh, Joshua Safran, showrunner. A lot of
Leif:episodes, including, like, Bad News Blair, High
Leif:Society, and season one. Um, he's written.
Leif:Starting in season two, he's written all the
Leif:season premieres and season finales. So season
Leif:two, three, and four. Now he's written premiere
Leif:and Finale.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:Um, also episodes like New Haven Can Wait. He did
Leif:Thanksgiving episodes in season two and three. Um,
Leif:you've got Yale is another good one. And probably
Leif:the best episode of season four, Gaslight he did
Leif:as well.
Steve:Yeah. And the writing in this episode, there were
Steve:parts of this episode that were. That I felt like
Steve:he was given. I felt like he was given a big pile
Steve:of extension chords that were all tangled together
Steve:and they were like, yeah, turn this into a script.
Steve:And he had to sort through these tangled extension
Steve:cords trying to figure out where to put stuff.
Steve:Because a lot of the dialogue was great. There was
Steve:some really funny moments. Welcoming back
Steve:Georgina. Uh, her presence was instantly felt and
Steve:instantly radiated throughout the episode. So
Steve:there were so many good things in the writing of
Steve:this episode. And then there's those moments that,
Steve:whether it's writing or directing, it was like,
Steve:are we doing this? What the fuck?
Leif:So, and back again is veteran director Patrick
Leif:Aronaris, uh, has done Bad News Blair, High
Leif:Society, the Serena Also Rises. It's a wonderful
Leif:lie. Southern Gentlemen prefer blondes. And Juliet
Leif:doesn't live here anymore.
Steve:So these are kind of up and down episodes. The Bad
Steve:News Blair is. Is good. High Society is good. But
Steve:I never liked Southern Gentlemen. I hated that
Steve:whole arc. So I'm always going to be a bit
Steve:prejudiced. But Juliet doesn't live here Anymore
Steve:was fine.
Leif:If I remember correctly, that was. That was pretty
Leif:good one. And then Serena Also Rises, also, that
Leif:was, uh, the fashion show episode in season two.
Steve:Yeah, yeah.
Leif:With Jenny's dress at the end.
Steve:Yes, yes. Yeah.
Leif:That Serena wearing Jenny's dress on the.
Steve:Runway and brought all of her friends out for.
Steve:Yeah. To be the models.
Leif:But we also get some returning and new guest stars
Leif:this week. Uh, we get Nang Zhang and Nicole
Leif:Fischella back as Kadian is welcome.
Steve:They I, I loved their presence in the past two
Steve:episodes. I, I did you go I, I'll let you finish
Steve:these and then I'll say what, what I was going to
Steve:say.
Leif:And then we also have Michaela or Michaela.
Leif:Annette and Ellie. Uh, Petit back as mini Serena
Leif:and Minnie. Blair.
Steve:Fantastic.
Leif:And Michelle Trachtenberg back as Georgina Sparks
Leif:as she said.
Steve:Yes.
Leif:We are introduced to Nick Cornish who is
Leif:Georgina's husband Philip.
Steve:Okay. Is he going to be around for a bit? I'm
Steve:assuming she's going to be around for a bit, so.
Steve:Okay, good.
Leif:And we get David O. Russell as himself. We get
Leif:introduced to Ethan Peck as David O. Russell's
Leif:assistant and he is the grandson of Gregory Peck.
Leif:Uh, we get Cecily Von Zeissigar as the gospel girl
Leif:author as herself. And we also get Jonathan Karp
Leif:as himself.
Steve:When did we see Cecily? I forget. Oh, she was like
Steve:introduced briefly as Cecily. As Cecily to uh,
Steve:Serena. Serena.
Leif:Yeah.
Steve:I um, remember exactly. I, it was funny. I
Steve:remember that scene and being like, who's that?
Steve:That's a cameo. And, and didn't think to, to then
Steve:look it up. And then my second watch through I
Steve:just kind of missed it. But the first watch
Steve:through I was like, that's a cameo.
Leif:Of ah, course. David O. Russell as himself.
Steve:Uh, yeah. Uh, um, a Hollywood director. I think
Steve:it's so funny that here is this accomplished
Steve:director who can't act.
Leif:But yeah, according to his wiki, not the best guy
Leif:out there.
Steve:Which kind of what I was thinking when we watched,
Steve:when I watched that scene was how hard can it be
Steve:to just go in and talk to this guy the way he
Steve:would be one of your employees? And I was like, I
Steve:bet he's shitty to his employees.
Leif:Yeah. So he, he for one, he has the Joss Whedon
Leif:rep of being an asshole on set and off a set. He
Leif:did put uh, Christopher Nolan in a headlock once
Leif:at a party.
Steve:It's not that deep, bro.
Leif:But also In December of 2011, his 19 year old
Leif:transgender niece filed a police report alleging
Leif:sexually assaulted her. Cases closed without any
Leif:charges filed or charges because there was no
Leif:witnesses. Uh, he did admit that it did happen.
Leif:But that she told him to check out her new fake
Leif:breasts or whatever.
Steve:Gross.
Leif:Yeah. Either way, it's still your niece.
Steve:Yeah, if my niece. Yeah, like my sister had, uh,
Steve:you know, had breast augmentation surgery decades
Steve:ago. And you know what? I didn't want to. To
Steve:notice, to see or have any part of it. That's why,
Steve:uh. Why would you entertain the conversation?
Steve:That's disgusting.
Leif:Yeah. So Jonathan Karp was the publisher at the
Leif:end that Vanessa meets with.
Steve:Yeah, I did catch that too.
Leif:Yeah. So he is at Simon and Schuster. He became
Leif:the. Their publisher and, uh, he was named
Leif:president of the flagship division then. And in
Leif:2020, he became the CEO, uh, for Simon Schuster.
Leif:Why don't you give us that Vulture recap?
Steve:All right. Uh, it's only been two years since we
Steve:left here, Dan Humphrey observed wearily. And it
Steve:feels like 20. He gestured toward the halls of
Steve:Constance Billard, the high school where his story
Steve:as Lonely Boy began and the setting of last
Steve:night's two part season finale. But he might as
Steve:well have been speaking about the show itself. The
Steve:last episode of the fourth season of the Greatest
Steve:show of our time felt in many ways like it might
Steve:have been written to end this series, what with
Steve:the many this is your life moments, such as the
Steve:return of Georgina Spark Marks and Blair's old
Steve:minions Izzy and cotti Caddy and is Vulture. The
Steve:wry references to Last Step 2 episodes past, the
Steve:wrapping up of storylines and cor. Uh, including
Steve:the revelation that Dan has been secretly
Steve:novelizing his observations of the Upper east side
Steve:for the entire time we've thought we've known him,
Steve:and the meaningful departure of its most
Steve:marketable star to none other than. Than
Steve:Hollywood. But last week, Gossip Girl was renewed.
Steve:And now our characters and the actors who play
Steve:them must face a more realistic fate. They must,
Steve:as Chuck Bass put it, mature. They must soldier on
Steve:in the face of uncertainty, knowing the end will
Steve:come, but not when or how. Vulture makes a good
Steve:point here that it did have many series finale
Steve:qualities.
Leif:Yeah.
Steve:Many loose ends tied up.
Leif:Yeah. But I mean, that's a season finale. And
Leif:probably. They probably didn't find out until
Leif:like, while they're actually writing it, it was
Leif:going to be. They were going to get renewed.
Steve:Yeah. Which is not a good sign. You know, when
Steve:you're this late in a series, this late in a.
Steve:Waiting on the news is never a good sign.
Leif:No. So we get into Act 1. There's no gossip Girl
Leif:entry. We just jump right into it. Serena and
Leif:Vanessa are in a cab, presumably on the way to the
Leif:Constance and St. Jude's event. They're going to
Leif:find Charlie or the Dan because they think Charlie
Leif:is off her meds. And about the single white
Leif:female, Serena. I haven't liked Serena in two
Leif:seasons as much as when she fully owns Vanessa in
Leif:the scene by pointing out how she only has to
Leif:blame herself for Dan not talking to her.
Steve:Serena had a good episode in general, I feel in a
Steve:few places. And her own self awareness, but that
Steve:was perfect. The owning of Vanessa in that gap was
Steve:like, oh, and whose fault is that? It's your
Steve:fucking fault, Vanessa. You're the asshole that
Steve:keeps being an asshole.
Leif:Airborne Toxin event performs as Dan and Nate get
Leif:some long awaited bro time at the bar. Dan tells
Leif:him about the call me Serena incident and then
Leif:spots Chuck at the party. Nate promises m to tell
Leif:him about the Thorpe scheme later.
Steve:It was nice to have these two catch up. It was
Steve:nice for Dan to get to say to a friend, yo, she
Steve:said call me Serena. And for Nate. And Nate's
Steve:reaction was like, probably how I'd react to a
Steve:friend saying that to me.
Leif:Not necessary. And then continue what you're
Leif:doing. Yeah, yeah, it's not necessary. They just
Leif:go right ahead.
Steve:Yep, I like you for you. Now let's just, uh.
Leif:Chuck is searching the party for Blair, but finds
Leif:Eleanor instead. She points out the arriving Louis
Leif:and Sophie before suggesting that he say goodbye
Leif:to Blair once and for all. You tell him, Eleanor.
Steve:You tell him, Eleanor. I was so proud of Eleanor
Steve:in this scene. For her to be like, she doesn't
Steve:need you. She doesn't need the big bad wolf coming
Steve:to blow everything down. Like, let her go and have
Steve:her failed fairy tale be happy for her. Which I
Steve:think is really the seed that is planted for the
Steve:rest of this episode. You know, I think that this
Steve:seed that she plants really flourishes.
Leif:Later, Dan finds Eric, who is enjoying the party,
Leif:but he sounds like he's ready to graduate and get
Leif:out of high school. Dan is looking for Charlie,
Leif:but before Eric can answer, Vanessa, Serena and
Leif:Chuck all arrive looking to talk to Dan while Nate
Leif:needs to talk to Chuck. Dan navigates the
Leif:conversation and gets the right people talking to
Leif:each other. Chuck and Nate go to the Empire to
Leif:look for Blair. Connie and Iz pull Eric onto the
Leif:dance floor. Serena and Vanessa hang back with Dan
Leif:to find Charlie.
Steve:I loved everyone looking for Dan and Dan being
Steve:like, whoa, you never want to listen to me. I'm
Steve:always trying to tell you guys to do better
Steve:things. And then also just to be like, okay, Nate,
Steve:Chuck, you guys need to talk. Oh, and the Eric.
Steve:Oh, you got cute. Still gay.
Leif:That means she could dance.
Steve:That means you can dance.
Leif:As Chuck and Nate arrive at the Empire, Chuck is
Leif:upset that Nate told Reina the truth about Thorpe.
Leif:Speaking of Reyna, she is waiting in the suite to
Leif:apologize for giving Chuck a hard time. Wondering
Leif:where Blair is, Chuck receives a phone call and
Leif:answers it as the scene cuts.
Steve:Yeah, uh, we both did things to each other that we
Steve:didn't know were wrong at the time. That's like
Steve:the most Chuck thing. That's. That's just summary
Steve:of all of the. Of so many of the scandals that
Steve:they have put each other in. Like, oh, man, I
Steve:thought I was doing the right thing at the time.
Leif:Blair is locked in a room with a drinking Thorpe.
Leif:Blair managed to call Chuck without pulling her
Leif:phone out of the pocket. She cleverly reveals her
Leif:location through conversation with Thorpe.
Leif:Throughout the entire scene, Thorpe is fiddling
Leif:with a Zippo lighter.
Steve:This was so. This was the dumb part. So, so much
Steve:of this episode that there were shining moments.
Steve:But the whole kidnapping Blair to blow her up in a
Steve:building was so dumb too.
Leif:I mean, it was definitely different. I thought it
Leif:was. I mean, it was just. It was a different show,
Leif:but I thought it was well executed.
Steve:Uh, that's the point.
Leif:It was a cartoon, right?
Steve:It was a different show, Right? It was. When they
Steve:try to give me life and death stakes, I can't
Steve:believe them because they're not a life or death
Steve:show. If you would have killed Chuck, then maybe
Steve:I'd believe he could blow up Blair. Right? But he
Steve:didn't kill Chuck. And so I don't believe you're
Steve:gonna kill. You've killed. The only person you've
Steve:killed so far is Bart Bass. And like, like I've
Steve:said before, I'm not even convinced you did it.
Steve:Then I'm. There's a part of me in the back of my
Steve:head that's like, that is out here somewhere
Steve:waiting for Chuck to finally get his shit
Steve:together, finally grow up, finally could be a good
Steve:person just to rip that carpet out from under him
Steve:again, so. Which at this point, that's like the
Steve:only thing I could. Like, they're real. Okay,
Steve:okay, I'm ready. I'm ready to move on. But this
Steve:was. It was a good scene from a. Different. From a
Steve:soap opera.
Leif:We go into Act 2, and finally after the
Leif:commercial, hear a Gossip Girl monologue. Bonsoir,
Leif:and Upper East Siders. Are you enjoying the party
Leif:as much as I am? I know one person who isn't
Leif:Georgina is back and showing off on an enormous
Leif:engagement ring. She is with her milquetoast
Leif:husband Philip, who is showing off baby pictures
Leif:of Milo to another couple. Georgina seems bored by
Leif:the whole thing and walks off to find Dan and
Leif:senses something is up and begs to get in on the
Leif:scheme.
Steve:I was giddy. The second Georgina Sparks shows up
Steve:anymore, I know I'm in for a ride. I know that
Steve:there's going. He writes for her better than
Steve:anyone else does because he's done all of these
Steve:season finales and she's been in all of them that
Steve:he's written, and he gives her amazing dialogue
Steve:and makes her witty and a, um. Fucking chaos bomb.
Steve:She is the Tasmanian Devil in this show, and it is
Steve:fantastic.
Leif:Eric takes a video of the band and says it to
Leif:Lily's iPad before giving her a call to make her
Leif:feel included. Rufus starts to tell Eric about
Leif:Charlie being off her meds, but Lily elbows him in
Leif:the ribs to shut him up and takes the phone back.
Steve:Yeah, why aren't we telling Eric? Why? Like, why
Steve:is this one person too many to let know the
Steve:severity of the situation here?
Leif:Well, I have a feeling if Lily was there before,
Leif:she wouldn't have let Rufus tell Vanessa and
Leif:Serena either.
Steve:Yeah, true. Well, and.
Leif:But it's so Lily, right?
Steve:My comment is not about the show. It's about Lily,
Steve:because that is very much like Lily. Oh, let's not
Steve:embarrass this person anymore. Let's not change
Steve:the image for anyone else to see. She's. He's
Steve:gonna find out. Lily.
Leif:Dan finds Charlie, bottle of vodka in hand,
Leif:dancing with a much older gentleman. Dan tries to
Leif:pull her away, but she gets upset that he rejected
Leif:her and makes a big scene before running off. When
Leif:she spots Vanessa coming over, Georgina smiles
Leif:from the sidelines as she instantly clocks every
Leif:side of the scheme.
Steve:Georgina is just again, amazing how she just sees
Steve:all the scheming going on and how you like. Even
Steve:in her introduction when she's like, oh, yeah, my
Steve:life is perfect. Like, you can see how bored she
Steve:is. So that was really perfect.
Leif:Serena is getting nostalgic and looking at old
Leif:pics of her and Blair back in school. Headmistress
Leif:Keller walks up and introduces her to Gossip Girl
Leif:author Cecily Van Zeiss. Garrett Weller is
Leif:extremely disappointed that Serena dropped out of
Leif:Brown and came back to the city. Serena is then
Leif:mocked by the mini minions for not getting Nate or
Leif:Dan. They. They get even more meta by stating they
Leif:are both Blair fans now instead of one of each.
Steve:The first thing here so so first of all, you have
Steve:the. The cameo in the introduction and it's just.
Leif:Well, the first thing you have, you have three
Leif:just standing in it by herself, looking at old
Leif:picture.
Steve:Yeah, yeah.
Leif:And being nostalgic.
Steve:Yeah. But then you have had Mr. Squiller come up
Steve:and introduce the. The obvious cameo.
Leif:Yeah, Gossip Girls author.
Steve:Got Gossip Girls author. But then to turn to
Steve:Serena and be like, oh, Columbia, man, I had such
Steve:high hopes for you. I thought you could have done
Steve:anything you wanted. And you're here.
Leif:Well, I don't. I don't get. Say it's just about
Leif:the school. It's about being back in the city,
Leif:being involved with these people that are
Leif:completely toxic.
Steve:And I get that, but, yeah, at the same time, I'm
Steve:just like, who does that? Who comes back?
Leif:And yeah, it is fucking rude as hell.
Steve:Yeah, it's fucking rude. Like, she's at your
Steve:fundraiser. She's one of the wealthiest people at
Steve:your fundraiser right now. And you're like, you
Steve:know, you're a real disappointment. You know, I. I
Steve:thought you would leave, go do something cool. I
Steve:thought you'd go gallivant around the world
Steve:instead of getting an education at Columbia.
Leif:Like, you're making it about the school. It's
Leif:about the city.
Steve:Well, I. And then I do get that, but I'm also just
Steve:saying I'm. I'm making it about the education at
Steve:all.
Leif:But we all know Serena's not really getting an
Leif:education, regardless where she's at.
Steve:I don't know. I mean, she had all those extra
Steve:hours she clocked with that one professor.
Leif:Yeah, Hard, long hours.
Steve:Hard, hard, long hours.
Leif:Sweaty.
Steve:Really grinding it out.
Leif:Yes. Earning that a.
Steve:Jesus Christ.
Leif:This show.
Steve:Is such a bad. A, um, bad example for people to
Steve:live by.
Leif:Georgita finds Serena and again begs to be let in
Leif:on the scheme and is again rejected. Dan and
Leif:Vanessa also show up and give the latest Charlie
Leif:update. They all get texts from Charlie saying,
Leif:I'm sorry. Goodbye. Georgina realizes Charlie is
Leif:faking it and calls it out as amateur hour and.
Leif:And starts offering options to neutralize her, I
Leif:think neutralizer, possibly. The gang all dish
Leif:Georgina to go in different locations, assuming
Leif:Charlie left the party annoyed. Georgina doesn't
Leif:say anything when she sees a calm and collected
Leif:Charlie still at the party.
Steve:Yeah, again, Georgina is just fantastic here. The
Steve:way that she's like, you know, please, please let
Steve:me in. I need something. I have not schemed in so
Steve:long. Um, unless. Unless you count. What does she
Steve:say? Hurrying the process at a hostel for an
Steve:apartment, a, uh, hospice to get an apartment.
Leif:Yes. She killed someone else. Yeah.
Steve:I have not schemed, except for the person I killed
Steve:to get an apartment.
Leif:A uh, little bit faster.
Steve:Yeah. A little bit better. He's going to die
Steve:anyway. I. Yeah. She was so good.
Leif:And, and then when the possible scheme she offered
Leif:up the badger, the melon drop, the spaz prisoner.
Steve:And then when she does, this is where she runs
Steve:into Charlie. Right. And Charlie's like, I need to
Steve:get some air.
Leif:Not, uh, yet. But she sees, she sees her. She just
Leif:kind of walks by and notices her. Uh, and then.
Steve:Right, right. Okay.
Leif:Back at the construction site, Thorpe keeps
Leif:playing with his loiter and sniffing the air. We
Leif:shift to see Chuck, Reyna and Nate climbing the
Leif:stairs of the building. They smell gas and Nate
Leif:stops to call 911 while Chuck and Rena continue
Leif:on.
Steve:Nate's like, I'm gonna call 911 from outside.
Steve:Roman m otten here. I mean he does stay, but m.
Steve:I'm like, I. I'm gonna go out of here and call 91
Steve:1. In a gas free area, Thorpe reveals.
Leif:That he turned the gas valves off and it's taking
Leif:longer than he thought for the gas to reach the
Leif:third floor. Blair begs him not to light his
Leif:lighter and tells him that like her, he too can
Leif:escape the vast shadow of corruption. Before Thorp
Leif:can ignite the flame, Chuck, followed by Reyna,
Leif:uh, bursts through the door. Reyna pretends to
Leif:forgive her father for just long enough to snatch
Leif:the lighter from his hand before turning face and
Leif:uh, telling him he's going to jail and he will
Leif:never see her again.
Steve:Just imagine if there was some kind of spark when
Steve:he broke that door open. Boo.
Leif:Yeah.
Steve:But no, I, I like Raina here. I liked the, the,
Steve:the instant turn the, you know, Daddy, it's okay.
Steve:Give me the lighter. You, you're going to jail and
Steve:I am not coming to visit you.
Leif:And so back in the beginning of season, the second
Leif:episode of the season, second Blair said to Chuck
Leif:that not even Chuck Bass can destroy Blair Waldorf
Leif:by this scene. M. She says he destroyed me.
Steve:Yeah. Yeah. Although she said that at the
Steve:beginning of the, of the season. And then more
Steve:shit happened. So maybe in reflection she realizes
Steve:he did.
Leif:Well, it's not that he. She didn't say at the
Leif:beginning that he didn't. He said that Blair that
Leif:he can't.
Steve:Right.
Leif:Not even Chuck Bass can destroy Blair Waldorf.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:The show loves to do its little season premiere
Leif:season ending. Ah. And it was a two part premiere.
Leif:Basically a two part finale. Basically.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:They like to do the little premiere finale for
Leif:Parallels.
Steve:Yeah, they do.
Leif:And, uh, Gossip Girl says this as we go to the
Leif:break. This just in. Blair Waldorf. M. I.
Leif:Constance. Doesn't she know her prince is waiting?
Leif:Or has she found a new one? And as she says that,
Leif:Blair and Chuck are standing beside his limbo and
Leif:they're kind of talking. She. She thanks him for
Leif:saving her and for the ride. And then also admits
Leif:he's still number one on her speed dial.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:Yeah, I miss tactile phones.
Steve:Yeah, I remember there was a period of time that I
Steve:was able to send a text without even looking at my
Steve:phone, like at all. I just, you know, But. But you
Steve:had to know the number of times you were hitting
Steve:the number to get the right letter.
Leif:Yeah. We go into Act 3. Nate and Raina are walking
Leif:off the adrenaline on the streets of New York
Leif:City. Raina announces that she wants to go home to
Leif:Chicago. Nate gives a disappointed sigh, but nods
Leif:and gives her a hug.
Steve:Yeah, I mean, that makes sense. You know, you
Steve:didn't want to go back.
Leif:What's really. All of your hair?
Steve:Yeah, yeah, just a dude. Now she has an entire
Steve:company. She's going to need to take over and
Steve:figure out what's going to happen now that the CEO
Steve:is going to prison.
Leif:Blair and Chuck crash a barbita to grab a drink
Leif:before returning to the constant Saints Jude
Leif:party.
Steve:Nothing drives Robin crazy like watching anyone
Steve:who enters any Jewish festivities get lifted up on
Steve:chairs. That just anyone? Yeah. Oh, yeah. You're
Steve:just crashing this bar mitzvah. Sure, we'll lift
Steve:you up on chairs, too.
Leif:I mean, we're not to that part yet, but, uh.
Steve:Oh, okay. But. But, yeah, okay, sorry.
Leif:This is where they just come in and they steal the
Leif:name tags, right? Charlie, still carrying the
Leif:vodka bottle, is trying to open a locked door when
Leif:she is confronted by Georgina. Georgina lets her
Leif:know where she can find a window that can open and
Leif:wishes her on her way. Serena arrives a moment too
Leif:late, still looking for Charlie. Georgina lies,
Leif:but Serena sees through it and does the opposite.
Steve:I love that. I love. She went up the elevator.
Steve:Serena turns. Goes the other way. You get me. I
Steve:miss this. You get me. It was, uh. I loved it.
Leif:Perfect.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:And then we get rolling in. The Deep begins to
Leif:play. And Blair gets out in the middle of the
Leif:dance floor of the bar mitzvah. She starts
Leif:dancing.
Steve:Yeah. And yeah, this is where they start dancing.
Leif:And then, uh, the music continues to play. And
Leif:Vanessa shows up to the loft under the pretense of
Leif:Looking for Charlie. And the music continues. And
Leif:Chuck as Joy and Blair in the middle of the circle
Leif:dance. And then it's pretty obvious Charlie isn't
Leif:at the loft, but Vanessa continues to stoop and
Leif:finds a manuscript for Inside by Daniel Humphrey.
Steve:Yeah, I wonder, uh, Yeah, I wonder if Charlie's
Steve:just hiding in this stack of papers. I wonder if
Steve:she's just in this. In this pile of manuscripts
Steve:over here. She is. Uh, such a.
Leif:Somehow, Blair and Chuck snag the prime positions
Leif:in the horror. They are lifted on chairs by a
Leif:bunch of strangers at a party there, crashing.
Leif:Meanwhile, Louie is just chilling at the alumni
Leif:event for his school. He didn't attend, waiting
Leif:for Blair to show up.
Steve:So, yes, as I was saying, nothing drives Robin
Steve:crazy like anyone entering any kind of Jewish
Steve:celebration and getting lifted up on chairs and
Steve:like, hey, kid, I'll give you five GS if you'll
Steve:lift me up. If you lift us up on the chairs.
Steve:Because, like, who does that?
Leif:Which also, if his parents are rich enough to be
Leif:throwing his bar mitzvah at the Oak Room, $5,000
Leif:probably was not the biggest check. He got that
Leif:right.
Steve:I had that thought, too. I had that same thought
Steve:that he's like, oh, yeah, you can put this in the
Steve:small pile.
Leif:But the song continues, and Vanessa has made
Leif:herself at home and full on reading Dan's
Leif:manuscript.
Steve:Yeah. Yeah.
Leif:And then this is where Chuck gives Joseph Nitzberg
Leif:a check for $5,000 before Blair pulls him into a
Leif:small, empty room and begins making out with them.
Leif:We see Louis, unlike, um, Chuck last year,
Leif:continue to wait patiently for Blair, even when
Leif:his mother mocks him for being a fool. Blair and
Leif:Chuck continue to get undressed.
Steve:Yeah, I was so annoyed at this point, like, oh,
Steve:they're gonna go in there and bang at this bar
Steve:mitzvah that they're crashing. First of all, I
Steve:will say I was annoyed when Chuck was like, let's
Steve:just go get one drink and then take you back. And
Steve:she was like, okay, yeah, one drink. I was
Steve:annoyed.
Leif:Then.
Steve:Then they crashed a bar mitzvah for that drink.
Steve:And it's like, what. What is this even happening
Steve:here? And then they bang in the. At the bar
Steve:mitzvah, and it was just annoying.
Leif:Kids, party behave.
Steve:Yeah, yeah, yeah. You. You. Yeah, they're. They're
Steve:13. You perverts also. Ah.
Leif:I haven't been to a ton of bar mitzvahs, but
Leif:aren't they usually during the day?
Steve:Well, yeah. And also lock the door at least, like.
Leif:Well, that's fire hazard.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:It's a restaurant. You can't really just lock the
Leif:door.
Steve:Yeah, I guess not.
Leif:But we do see on the check that it was dated May
Leif:6, 2011. So just a few days there, like a week or
Leif:two before this episode came out. And the memo
Leif:reads, mazel tov.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:And Serena is still searching the school for
Leif:Charlie. As the song continues, Dan arrives at the
Leif:penthouse, and Lily and Rufus call Carol to let
Leif:her know they are still looking for Charlie. Dan
Leif:walks away to call Vanessa, and Rufus gets a
Leif:curious look on his face. The song continues.
Leif:Yeah, where's Charlie?
Steve:Yeah, where's Charlie? Where's Charlie? That's
Steve:actually a play. Where's Charlie is the name of a
Steve:musical. How's Charlie? Where is Charlie gonna.
Leif:Uh, m. Anyway, and then Serena does find Charlie
Leif:standing at, uh, an open window as the song ends.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:And Gossip Girl says this as we go to the break.
Leif:Watch out. S. We find what we look for, but never
Leif:what we expect.
Steve:What?
Leif:What?
Steve:What? There.
Leif:Uh, we go into Act 4, and Serena begs Charlie to
Leif:come away from the window, but Charlie continues
Leif:to act distraught and says she heard everyone
Leif:talking about her. Charlie admits that she stole
Leif:the dress so she could be like Serena
Leif:Vanderwinsen. Serena admits that being Serena
Leif:Vanderwitzen isn't all that it's cracked up to be.
Steve:Yeah, I think Charlie provided some much needed
Steve:therapy for Serena in this episode because I feel
Steve:like Serena had to be kind of self aware about a
Steve:bunch of her own shit as she made it through this
Steve:episode. And I think that Charlie really put a
Steve:mirror in front of her of, uh, many of her own
Steve:behaviors and made her really reconsider things
Steve:and made her a little self aware, I think that.
Leif:And the mini Serena becoming a mini Blair.
Steve:Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Leif:Which is just full, I bet it, for the fandom. Um,
Leif:just completely shifting away from Serena.
Steve:It's funny, I actually forgot to mention that when
Steve:we were talking about that scene that the Minis.
Steve:How. How, uh, they did both. Like, we're both team
Steve:Blair now. Like, we both. We both bet on you and
Steve:you failed us. Yeah. So. Yeah, I. I thought that
Steve:was really funny too. Uh, just the whole, like,
Steve:clear shift. Yeah.
Leif:Dan calls Vanessa, who's still at the loft.
Leif:Vanessa, uh, admits she read his book and loves
Leif:it. Dan's rightfully pissed and tells her to put
Leif:it away and get the out of his house. Vanessa says
Leif:he should take his stand and publish the book no
Leif:matter who it hurts. Dan gets a text from Serena
Leif:that she found Charlie and once again tells
Leif:Vanessa to get out of his life. Vanessa gathers up
Leif:the manuscript and takes it with her as she leaves
Leif:the loft.
Steve:There's someone in that book that'll be happy
Steve:about how she's presented, and it's not Serena. It
Steve:is not Serena. It's clearly not Vanessa. Ah, so
Steve:I'm assuming Blair.
Leif:Yeah.
Steve:Vanessa, you're such an asshole. Like, you need to
Steve:publish this great art. You know, you have to
Steve:stand alone in the world and observe art. Okay,
Steve:it's still my fucking art.
Leif:Yes. Vanessa is the master of being technically
Leif:right.
Steve:Yeah. Yeah. Which any artist'll tell you. Which
Steve:any artist'll tell you.
Leif:Put it.
Steve:Make it all technique and no feeling.
Leif:Blair and Chuck are exiting the Oak Room and
Leif:headed towards Chuck's limo. Blair says she should
Leif:find Lillian and things because it's the right
Leif:thing to do. Blair says her love with Louie is
Leif:simple and makes her happy, but her love with
Leif:Chuck is all consuming, complicated and intense,
Leif:but specifically does not make her happy. Blair.
Steve:Who needs that?
Leif:Blair doubts Lou is still at the party, so Chuck
Leif:says to drop him off and then take the limo to the
Leif:consulate.
Steve:It means happiness anyway. I mean, it's just
Steve:happiness.
Leif:Uh, writers, what are you telling me? I don't
Leif:know.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:Apparently an interview before the episode, they
Leif:said there's something for everyone when talking
Leif:to the shippers directly.
Steve:Okay.
Leif:Which, yeah, I would say.
Steve:Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Leif:Back, uh, in the empty office, Charlie still
Leif:thinks Everett wants to be with or be Serena.
Leif:Serena points out that all those choices just left
Leif:her in decision paralysis and that she ended up
Leif:alone. At checks notes. Uh, 20. And Charlie gets
Leif:down off the ledge and tells Serena that she's not
Leif:alone and asks if she could do it again, who would
Leif:she choose? Nate or Dan? Serena doesn't answer,
Leif:but begins pressing keys on her cell phone.
Steve:Uh, again, like I said, like some much needed
Steve:therapy for Serena. There was this like, oh, shit.
Steve:Like I have not made any decisions and have just
Steve:let everybody tell me where to go. And if I had to
Steve:make a decision, I just didn't. And wow, that
Steve:really says a lot about me. So I liked that.
Steve:Serena, for the first time this season, has a
Steve:little bit of self awareness.
Leif:Chuck finds Louie still patiently waiting at the
Leif:party. He tells a surprised Chuck that he knows
Leif:Blair and knows she will come. Blair then enters,
Leif:having retrieved Chuck's coat, and is still
Leif:surprised to see Louie there as well. Blair is
Leif:about to break up with Louie, but Chuck steps in
Leif:and once again takes away her agency and gives
Leif:Louie his blessing to marry Blair.
Steve:Yeah, uh, what she's trying to say is she has my
Steve:blessing. Who needs your fucking blessing? Like if
Steve:I'm. If I'm Louie, I'm like, who? Who asked for
Steve:your fucking blessing? Go away, troll.
Leif:But a little continuity error in the scene as
Leif:well. Blair says she went to go get Chuck's coat
Leif:and hands him the coat.
Steve:Mhm.
Leif:But he was clearly wearing that coat at the
Leif:construction site. So why was it at the Constance
Leif:party?
Steve:Oh, I assumed that he left it in the car, that he
Steve:left it in the limo with her. That's why she came
Steve:running back in.
Leif:Now. She said, I want to go get this. She
Leif:specifically says, I want to get this.
Steve:Oh, I didn't catch that. I took it as you left it
Steve:in the limo. Here you go.
Leif:That would have made more sense, but no.
Steve:Yeah, m. Because he had the coat on the whole
Steve:night.
Leif:Yeah, she says that I went to go get this. I, uh,
Leif:went to go get. I went to get our coats or
Leif:something. Like along those lines.
Steve:Oh, weird.
Leif:And then Gossip Girl takes us to the break with
Leif:poor B. Don't you know, timing is everything.
Leif:Looks like someone just stepped on your lines. We
Leif:move into Act 5. Dan finds Nate in the hallway at
Leif:Constance. They both got texts from Serena to meet
Leif:her there. They find Serena sitting with Charlie,
Leif:and Dan asks Charlie how she is feeling. Serena
Leif:tells them that she invited them here to apologize
Leif:for never choosing between them. Charlie also
Leif:apologizes for her behavior with Dan. Everyone
Leif:forgives everyone, and decide it's time to head
Leif:home for the night.
Steve:Yeah. Yeah. I thought that was a little like, oh,
Steve:we're both getting texts from Serena to meet her
Steve:again. And her just be like, I'm sorry I didn't
Steve:choose either of you. That is all. Yeah. And Dan,
Steve:uh, I. Dan, I think was kind of perfect where he's
Steve:like, oh, we've already forgiven you for this
Steve:thing that's happened six months ago. Like, we've
Steve:already forgiven you. But it's great to hear from
Steve:you. Like, uh, like we're used to just forgiving
Steve:you without this. So it is nice that you're aware
Steve:of this now.
Leif:But once again, Nate's dialogue is over pretty
Leif:early this scene. And I don't know if you like,
Leif:paid attention. Once again, he just has. Chase has
Leif:no idea what to do when he has nothing to say in
Leif:the scene. He's like looking at the wall with a
Leif:blank look on his face.
Steve:Yeah, I.
Leif:It's time. Is it time for lunch yet? Is it time
Leif:for lunch yet?
Steve:Line. You.
Leif:You.
Steve:You don't have any Lines chase. I did find it
Steve:interesting that the pairing in this scene
Steve:visually had Nate and Charlie next to each other,
Steve:that the in Gossip Girl foreshadowing that could
Steve:mean something based on previous episodes. So I'm
Steve:wondering if. Well, we'll get to that and project
Steve:predictions, but that, that seemed to signal
Steve:something to me.
Leif:Serena goes off to get their coats. Nate goes to
Leif:grab a cab, and Dan is going to go stand over
Leif:there while Charlie calls her mom to let her know
Leif:the plan went perfectly. Georgita overhears
Leif:Charlie and confronts her about it. However,
Leif:Georgina says she knows how to keep a secret and
Leif:gives Charlie her number in case she is ever back
Leif:in the city.
Steve:I loved this. I loved Georgina. Again, game
Steve:recognizing game. Georgina seeing a padawan out
Steve:there, who, who I think Georgina is
Steve:underestimating a little bit. You know, the whole
Steve:amateur hour comment. And I think that Georgina is
Steve:looking at Charlie like she's an amateur hour. But
Steve:I think that Charlie is a little bit more than we
Steve:think. Or at least in Georgina thinks.
Leif:Blair finds Chuck in an empty hallway and asks him
Leif:why he just did that and once again makes a speech
Leif:about not needing to be happy. And no one writes
Leif:sonnets about compatibility or novels about shared
Leif:life goals and stimulating conversation. Chuck
Leif:mansplains that there's a difference between a
Leif:great love and a right love. Chuck left last year
Leif:when Blair was late by two minutes and Louis
Leif:waited all night for her. He says he needs to let
Leif:her go and so does she. Louie sees the end of the
Leif:conversation as they say goodbye.
Steve:The thing, the bit that Chuck said, right, about
Steve:uh, you know, basically just getting her to move,
Steve:to move on and, and you know, well, I guess I'm
Steve:just growing up a bit or maybe I'm maturing that
Steve:they, they kept using the word maturing to talk
Steve:about Chuck. And it's like, okay, we're trying to
Steve:make Chuck look good again after being an asshole
Steve:two weeks ago and after just pulling this shit
Steve:over and over again for four years. And now we're,
Steve:now this time we're supposed to believe that it's
Steve:going to be the time that he's actually growing
Steve:up. It was.
Leif:Oh goody.
Steve:Yeah, it was annoying. I did respect that. Chuck
Steve:was like, look you. I would rather you be happy
Steve:than be with me. I, you know, give some credit for
Steve:that.
Leif:I have no faith it'll last.
Steve:Yeah, yeah, I have none. None. And like Blair, you
Steve:like, you guys just banged 20 minutes ago.
Leif:Yeah, I, ah, did feel again with the premiere
Leif:finale parallels. This is very much shot like the
Leif:Train station scene.
Steve:Yes.
Leif:Um, it was with the lights in the background.
Steve:The other parallel, uh, and that Chuck pointed
Steve:out, that was the piece that I was trying to
Steve:remember. The parallel from last season finale of
Steve:him not waiting and Louis waiting all night. That
Steve:I do think that that was a really cool way of
Steve:showing Blair. This is the guy that's going to
Steve:wait for you. I'm the guy that's going to dip
Steve:when, uh, when it's the least bit difficult. I'm
Steve:out.
Leif:Now, did you catch the dare foreshadowing in the
Leif:scene?
Steve:Wait, there was a few points where I caught some
Steve:dare foreshadowing.
Leif:No one writes novels about shared life goals and
Leif:stimulating conversations.
Steve:Um. Oh.
Leif:There might be novel out there.
Steve:Someone wrote a novel.
Leif:Stimulating conversations.
Steve:Yep. Damn. No, I didn't even. I didn't even
Steve:register that.
Leif:This is what Gossip Girl has to say before we go
Leif:to the break. This just in. Chuck Bass and Blair
Leif:Waldorf, happily never after. They say parting is
Leif:such sweet sorrow. But wouldn't it be nice if just
Leif:once it didn't have to be? We go into the
Leif:epilogue, and we get the traditional season finale
Leif:flash forward. Three weeks have passed, and the
Leif:Humphrey Bass Vanderwoodsens are having brunch at
Leif:the penthouse.
Steve:Yeah, everybody was invited. Nate was invited to
Steve:brunch.
Leif:Gets broke into a bunch of. Bunch of mini scenes.
Leif:We got here. Yeah, everyone's there at brunch. You
Leif:get the traditional flash forward from the finale.
Leif:M. This time it's three weeks.
Steve:Yeah. Usually it's just a week.
Leif:That's pretty pointed.
Steve:I also think this season was a little shorter too,
Steve:so I wonder if there was also other timing things
Steve:that they wanted to line up.
Leif:Why do you mean shorter?
Steve:It was only 21 episodes and 20. 22.
Leif:Yeah.
Steve:Were the last two 24 or 23?
Leif:Um, season two is longer, but season I think
Leif:they're all 22.
Steve:Oh, okay. I thought season three was 23 or 24.
Leif:22 is definitely the standard.
Steve:Okay.
Leif:For CW, season two is longer. Season, um, five is
Leif:going to be a little longer as well. I think it's
Leif:23 or 24.
Steve:Okay.
Leif:Like I said, we got several mini scenes within
Leif:this big scene at the penthouse living room area.
Leif:Rufus is reading an article about Thorpe getting
Leif:20 years in prison. Nate and Chuck comment that it
Leif:sounds fair. And Lily prefers her nine months of
Leif:house arrest to this to his 20 years of hard time.
Leif:Yep, fair enough.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:Lily will be getting your ankle bracelet off just
Leif:in time to send Eric to Sarah Lawrence in the
Leif:fall.
Steve:Yeah. Which a Light breeze could take him. Could
Steve:take him there. It's only 15 minutes away. I
Steve:thought he was looking at Wesleyan, so I was kind
Steve:of hoping he was going there, but according to
Steve:Google.
Leif:It'S more like 30 minutes. And with, uh, traffic,
Leif:I'm guessing longer.
Steve:Yeah, but you're not taking into consideration the
Steve:travel of the Upper East Siders. That they can.
Steve:That they can just knock 30 minutes off of travel
Steve:to anywhere they go. Did you see how fast they got
Steve:from Brooklyn to Constance in this episode? With
Steve:stopping at a bar mitzvah in between?
Leif:For those who don't, uh, know, Sarah Lawrence is
Leif:in Yonkers, which is suburbs just north of the
Leif:Bronx.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:Then we get Dan and Blair, walk out of one of the
Leif:rooms together just in time to hear Rufus mocking
Leif:Eleanor and Cyrus's offer to go on a cruise with
Leif:them that just happens to be on the Monegasque
Leif:royal yacht.
Steve:Yeah. Rufus is like, I don't know if I want to go
Steve:on this cruise with Eleanor and Cyrus. Um, it's
Steve:the royal yacht.
Leif:Then Rufus, like, is it too late? Taurus.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:He's about to ditch Lily.
Steve:Deuces. Lily. Deuces. Lily. I'm going on a
Steve:Mediterranean cruise. Yeah.
Leif:Chuck and Blair say goodbye again. Uh, yeah.
Steve:Come on. Like, they already did this.
Leif:Blair tells Dan that he's invited to the royal
Leif:wedding and that she copied his Netflix cues so
Leif:they can discuss movies over the summer. Errik
Leif:overhears and looks suspicious.
Steve:This was the best part of the entire episode that
Steve:this little. When they get these two together, and
Steve:he's like, so you're actually getting married?
Steve:Yeah. And you're actually getting invited. And
Steve:when he says, you know, if you need someone, if
Steve:you get lonely, you know, we. You have a movie
Steve:date that's just waiting for you. And she's like,
Steve:I already emailed you. Your. Your first assignment
Steve:is is this movie. And I got your Netflix cue. It
Steve:was just so sweet to have the two of them go off
Steve:with this, like, with their friendship intact. I
Steve:really liked it and the implications. You know,
Steve:the implication.
Leif:Rufus gets a call that Charlie's car is ready.
Leif:Serena comes out with a packed and ready to go
Leif:Charlie, who is taking the bus home to Florida.
Leif:Lily kisses Charlie goodbye, and Rufus shakes her
Leif:hand as he walks by. Serena hugs Charlie and says
Leif:goodbye and says that she will miss her cousin.
Leif:Dan also, uh, hugs Charlie and says goodbye, but
Leif:doesn't mention missing her.
Steve:Yeah. Does say he did like her. I really did like
Steve:you. No. Gtfo.
Leif:Yeah, past tense.
Steve:I really did like you. You. You fucking
Steve:psychopath. Now let's get you on a bus. Let's get
Steve:you on a bus far away from here.
Leif:Did you catch the weird ad shake that Rufus gave
Leif:her?
Steve:I was just gonna say, yeah. Thank you, ma'. Am.
Steve:Thank you for staying, ma'. Am.
Leif:Yeah. He shakes her hand as he's walking by. It's
Leif:like, it's. Is he like, just not caring at all or
Leif:is he like. Is there like, almost looks like he's
Leif:lingering, holding her hand as he's. Yeah, like,
Leif:behind Lily's back, he's like, oh, uh, what's up,
Leif:baby?
Steve:Yeah, Vanessa's going away. Maybe. Maybe I need a
Steve:new friend of Dan to hang around.
Leif:Yeah. Back at the suite, Nate recognizes Chuck is
Leif:hurting by the fact that he is not drinking. Nate
Leif:invites Chuck on a lost summer and picks a point
Leif:on the globe and make a their way back in time for
Leif:the fall.
Steve:Yeah, I love that. I, you know, the lost week.
Steve:They haven't done a lost weekend since high
Steve:school. They did the first two seasons. They had
Steve:their lost weekends. So for them to do a lost
Steve:summer and pick a place on a globe, I thought that
Steve:was. I loved that for the two of them. Sure.
Leif:I'm still mad at Nate for forgiving.
Steve:Him, but he's always going to, like, that's kind
Steve:of like the nature of the show is that he's always
Steve:going to just like Nate. Just like Serena and
Steve:Blair.
Leif:Big of which Serena and Blair are packing or
Leif:they're both packing for their summer vacations.
Leif:Blair and Monaco, Serena in California at Cece's.
Steve:Yeah. And Serena just being like, no, I needed to
Steve:make a decision and my decision was me. So good
Steve:for her. Yeah.
Leif:Dan, Eric and Rufus are cleaning up from brunch
Leif:and discussing Cece's empty house in the Hamptons.
Leif:Dan is welcome to use it, I guess. Rufus has the
Leif:authority. Dan invites Eric to come down and
Leif:thinks they can break up some couples together.
Leif:When Dan seems depressed, Eric suggests it's not
Leif:Charlie that has him upset. Dan also says he might
Leif:be done.
Steve:With writing two things. I want to quick jump back
Steve:to the last. To the last note of Blair, uh, and
Steve:Serena saying goodbye. That I forgot to mention
Steve:that that is the most self aware thing Serena ever
Steve:says, is you're not giving me enough time to get a
Steve:dress. You know, I'm wearing white and that is
Steve:going to outshine whatever you're wearing. It was
Steve:just like, oh, my God, she admitted it. She
Steve:admitted it. That everything has to always be
Steve:about her. She finally fucking realizes it. So I
Steve:did really like that line thrown in there. And
Steve:then the, the Eric and Dan going off to be buddies
Steve:at the Hamptons for the summer also, I thought was
Steve:fantastic, the two of them wingmanning for each
Steve:other. But Dan, like, no, I'm not going to write
Steve:anymore because I wrote this one thing that was
Steve:really good and I don't want people to read it.
Steve:Come on, Dan. Oh, you know everything I've worked
Steve:for throughout this entire show and everything
Steve:that I've wanted my whole life. Yeah, I'm good.
Leif:Yeah. But definitely typical of someone his age to
Leif:say something like that.
Steve:That's also not unrealistic.
Leif:Vanessa, uh, is meeting with Jonathan Karf with
Leif:Dan's manuscript, now labeled as bianonymous. She
Leif:says she represents the author and he will have to
Leif:come forward once the book comes out, but for now,
Leif:send the checks to her in Barcelona.
Steve:Yeah, nothing about this whole thing seems shady
Steve:at all. Hey, uh, yeah, I have this manuscript. I'm
Steve:not going to tell you who wrote it, but trust me,
Steve:he wants me to let you have it. And yeah, just
Steve:send me all the money for it. Like, what
Steve:publishing company is going to be like, oh, yeah,
Steve:this book is so good, I'm going to risk all of the
Steve:litigation that it's going to bring about. Like,
Steve:get the fuck out of here. No one's sending you
Steve:checks.
Leif:But also the problem with using a cameo for
Leif:something that's actually story important is you
Leif:don't really get the sense of what his, like,
Leif:impression is. Is he suspicious of this or is he
Leif:just going along with it?
Steve:Yeah, yeah, because like, it's, it seems really
Steve:sus, but I have no idea because this guy isn't an
Steve:actor.
Leif:Exactly. Serena stumbles across a young man on the
Leif:beach reading her favorite book, the Beautiful and
Leif:the Damned. He's supposed to be checking an
Leif:adapted film script for book accuracy, but hasn't
Leif:actually read the book. He asks for her help,
Leif:which he agrees, for the good of Fitzgerald. The
Leif:guy's boss shows up and it's David O. Russell. He
Leif:offers Serena a job.
Steve:Yeah, right there on the spot. That's the most
Steve:Serena thing to happen in a while. Just, oh, hey,
Steve:yeah, you're just here randomly talking to
Steve:somebody who you saw reading a book. You're hired.
Leif:Yeah, well, because Serena just always falls ass
Leif:backwards into a, uh, love interest at a job.
Steve:Yeah, yeah, that's just Serena's life. That is her
Steve:life. This Is the World really does revolve around
Steve:some Serena Vander Woodson. Yeah. So when the
Steve:natural Order is upset, she lashes out.
Leif:Charlie. Or is it Ivy? Gets off a bus of Miami and
Leif:gives Carol the checks for the real Charlotte's
Leif:trust fund. It turns out Carol hired Ivy to
Leif:impersonate her daughter and make them all think
Leif:she was crazy so they wouldn't come looking for
Leif:her when she left. This was all in a scheme to get
Leif:access to the trust fund. Carol thanks Ivy and
Leif:walks away. And we see Ivy has Georgina's phone
Leif:number in her purse, along with one or two of the
Leif:checks.
Steve:Yeah, so now we know. It's funny that we know that
Steve:she's been renewed to come back, but we also know
Steve:she's not Charlie, so it's only a matter of time
Steve:before that gets figured out. Or doesn't. But,
Steve:like, I don't know, it just seems so dumb and so
Steve:forced, and so it seems like one of those things
Steve:that it's like, it seemed like a good idea at the
Steve:time that they were writing this. Like, oh, yeah,
Steve:this is going to be a great twist. And now they're
Steve:going to need to, like, do something with it. And
Steve:they're like, oh, we actually have to write this
Steve:character into these stories now without it all
Steve:blowing up.
Leif:But that's. That's the fun of, uh, trying to dance
Leif:between. How many plates can they spin on those,
Leif:uh, tops?
Steve:Yeah, yeah, yeah. How many extension cords do they
Steve:have to untangle?
Leif:But in the final scene of the season, we see
Leif:Dorota cleaning Serena and Blair's shared
Leif:bathroom, and a pregnancy test with a positive
Leif:indicator is sitting on top of the trash.
Steve:Yeah. Come on, now. How many sharks are we going
Steve:to jump in one episode? Because, like, a pregnancy
Steve:scare again? Didn't we do this already? There's no
Steve:way they're bringing a baby onto this show. At
Steve:least not with the two of them. Eleanor's
Steve:visiting, but, like, they've already established
Steve:that she's not having kids. I don't know. It's. I
Steve:hated this. I hated it so much. Would where.
Leif:Or Sabrina have just left it right out on top like
Leif:that, though?
Steve:Uh, no.
Leif:Who else was in there?
Steve:So Charlie was also in there, but Charlie didn't
Steve:sleep with anyone. Dorota, Eleanor, Serena, Blair,
Steve:Charlie.
Leif:So there's a lot of possibilities.
Steve:Yeah, there are several. Let's hope it's just
Steve:Dorota again. Like, mazel tov, Dorota.
Leif:Which he keeps saying how they keep repeating
Leif:storylines this year.
Steve:Yep. Yep. So that's one that you can repeat. I'll
Steve:take that.
Leif:And. Ah, this is Gossip Girl's final monologue
Leif:transitions in life are usually marked by major
Leif:events. Birthdays, graduations, weddings. But the
Leif:greater transitions often come out of smaller
Leif:moments when we stop to look at who we are.
Leif:Because each time we see how far we've come, we
Leif:also see how far we have to go. In order to fully
Leif:transform, we might need to free ourselves of
Leif:everything we've been holding onto, to send us on
Leif:our new path, the right one. But if, at the end,
Leif:you find the person you become is not the person
Leif:you want to be, you can always turn around and try
Leif:again. And maybe the next time, you won't be so
Leif:alone when it's over. Too late to turn back now.
Leif:XOXO Gossip Girl. So season finales are a time for
Leif:goodbyes.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:We get five farewells.
Steve:No way. Wow.
Leif:First is kind of just a symbolic one. This is the
Leif:last episode. Taylor Bumpson is listed as main
Leif:cast.
Steve:Oh, okay. So, like, she's been gone. Yeah, but.
Steve:But now it's official. Yeah.
Leif:Goodbye to Russell Thorpe.
Steve:Okay. Okay.
Leif:Goodbye to Raina.
Steve:Okay. I kind of figured that one. Okay.
Leif:Goodbye to Vanessa.
Steve:Uh, yeah.
Leif:Oh, but that's. Finally. There's. That's only
Leif:four.
Steve:I think I know who the last one is. I think you've
Steve:told me before.
Leif:It's Eric.
Steve:Yeah. Connor. Paulo goes on to other things. That.
Steve:That one bums me out. That is the Reina. I. I
Steve:enjoyed Reina for what she did. She was fine. I'm
Steve:gonna miss Eric. Eric is. Eric is the conscience
Steve:of the Upper east side. So I feel like they're
Steve:gonna need Dan to really step it up in that role,
Steve:and I don't know if he's up for it.
Leif:So he might be going the other direction.
Steve:Yeah. Yeah. But it is nice for Vanessa to be gone.
Leif:But that is our season. That is our episode. What
Leif:is coming next?
Steve:All right, first of all, this book is going to be
Steve:published in a record amount of time. It will be
Steve:out, I'm sure, by the season premiere of, uh,
Steve:season five, and everyone will have read it. And
Steve:everyone is going to be mad at Dan because they're
Steve:all going to know Dan did it. However, Dan is not
Steve:in the city. So Dan is going to come home m. To
Steve:the city to find out that everyone read it,
Steve:because for some reason, he won't have read it
Steve:because he's not in the city. Like, that's just my
Steve:first prediction. I'm going to go back to say this
Steve:again. Now that Chuck is on a high, I feel like
Steve:the only thing that could really bring him
Steve:crashing down is Bart Bass. So whether it's ghost
Steve:Bart or if Bart, something like that, I feel like
Steve:there's going to be a Bart Bass something
Steve:happening early in the next season.
Leif:He killed a maid. There was also a maid in the
Leif:fire.
Steve:Yeah, there was a. In season six, it was another
Steve:janitor. There were two of them. Yeah, Just one
Steve:for every season. I think that I'm very curious
Steve:about the nine month timing of Lily's. I still
Steve:think there's room for a baby in the Humphrey
Steve:family, which will annoy me, but there's room for
Steve:it. Oh, I am excited. I don't know where it's
Steve:going to go, but I feel like Georgina is going to
Steve:still be back for at least a few episodes here. At
Steve:least one. Because she's going to be back involved
Steve:with Ivy and so there's. We're going to.
Steve:Eventually Ivy's story is going to come crashing
Steve:down. I don't know.
Leif:Is Serena gonna fall in love and start living in
Leif:California and working in California?
Steve:Well, she's gonna fall in love and start working
Steve:in California, but then have to come back for
Steve:whatever reason. Something is going to interrupt
Steve:Serena being in California. Um, I don't know.
Steve:Maybe something with Cece. Cece's old. If they've
Steve:kind of threatened to kill off Cece a couple
Steve:times, maybe they'll fucking do it. And since
Steve:Serena will have to come home, Dan, uh, Blair.
Steve:Everyone who reads Dan's book is going to get
Steve:something different out of it. And Blair is going
Steve:to realize that Dan is in love with her. And that
Steve:might be the thing that calls off the wedding
Steve:there. The wedding being planned for November. I
Steve:do feel like we are going to get to a wedding. So
Steve:I think that this might last for a few more
Steve:months, but. And, God, I don't know who's
Steve:pregnant, but we'll find out.
Leif:Uh, if you haven't done the math yet, the
Leif:hundredth episode will occur in the fifth season.
Steve:Oh, okay. Wow. I thought we'd be closer than that
Steve:by now, but no, I guess not because we're just in
Steve:the 80s now. We just finished 80 something. 90
Steve:something.
Leif:It's like the 87th episode.
Steve:Yeah. Yeah. So, okay, so like halfway through.
Leif:Yeah. Right in the middle of the season is the
Leif:100th episode. I think it's. Episode 13 is 100.
Steve:The, um, the mile mark milestone for, um, what's
Steve:it called? Syndication.
Leif:Yes.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:Any other predictions?
Steve:I think that's everything. I think I'm good on
Steve:predictions for now.
Leif:All right, well, let's get into segments.
Steve:Hello. There. Peabody here. And this is the
Steve:Wayback Machine for traveling through time. And
Steve:this is my boy, Sherman. Speak, Sherman. Hello.
Steve:Good boy.
Leif:This week in fandom, we jumped into the Wayback
Leif:Machine that travels to the Television without
Leif:pity forums in 2011. Overall impression of this
Leif:episode, not good.
Steve:I had ups and downs. Like there are things that I
Steve:loved and things that I hated in this episode.
Leif:They m. Think the CW writers are brainstorming
Leif:together because Gossip, uh, Girl airs on the Same
Leif:Night as Naya 200 reboot. And like right
Leif:afterwards and in that same night, one of the
Leif:characters from the 920 reboot is also pregnant.
Steve:Is that 90210 reboot really this fucking old?
Leif:Yeah.
Steve:God. Uh, damn. I. Because the re. I feel like the
Steve:reboot craze really kind of hit its stride. I felt
Steve:like it was really hitting its stride right before
Steve:the pandemic, but maybe it was earlier than that.
Steve:Uh, I feel like this is one of the earlier
Steve:reboots, the 902101. But damn, I feel like
Steve:reboots, um.
Leif:Have been happening since like the 90s.
Steve:But okay, well, no, I mean, yes, you. Okay, yes,
Steve:you are right. But I feel like a lot of these
Steve:original cast reboots or you know, the A Year of
Steve:Gilmore Girls and like, you know, a lot of these
Steve:kind of started ramping up.
Leif:90210 was like, it's a whole new cast.
Steve:Oh, okay. Okay. I thought. Because didn't they
Steve:also do a reboot with the original cast more
Steve:recently?
Leif:Uh, they did. Like we talked about this a while
Leif:ago. It's uh, it was like a parody reality show.
Steve:Oh.
Leif:Uh, it was like the. All like, it was the. It was
Leif:like an office for them, like rebooting the show.
Leif:It was like a re. It was like a fake reality
Leif:documentary. It was like a documentary about them
Leif:making a reboot.
Steve:Okay, okay.
Leif:But no, I'm talking about the actual show that did
Leif:have a couple of the original, like Miter original
Leif:characters as parents, but it was. It was about
Leif:new. A, uh, new cast of teenagers.
Steve:Okay. I. Okay, yes. Doing similar storylines, but
Steve:I still thought that it was more recent than that.
Leif:But yes, they. They, uh. Yeah, so they did the
Leif:same night that one of their characters also it
Leif:was an ass and she was pregnant. And their season
Leif:finale. They're clinging on to hope with some of
Leif:the dare foreshadowing.
Steve:Mhm. Yeah. I mean, there was a lot of it and there
Steve:was a lot to suggest that they are going to find
Steve:their way together or they're just suggesting that
Steve:Dan is in love with her and she doesn't care.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:Not there for the pregnancy storyline.
Steve:Nope, nope.
Leif:No one wants it.
Steve:Nope. We've done this a couple times. It's dumb.
Leif:Um, chair on chairs. What the was that?
Steve:Yeah. Yeah. Yep. Robin agrees.
Leif:Interested to find out more about Ivy?
Steve:Yeah, I. I didn't hate this twist. I didn't hate
Steve:it. I thought it was a stretch, but I didn't hate
Steve:it and can kind of see it looking back. So I'm not
Steve:mad at it.
Leif:There was a lot of hate directed at Joshua
Leif:Saffron.
Steve:Okay. About the chair stuff, I would assume.
Leif:Mostly that it's just in general still anger about
Leif:that. That interview from a couple weeks ago.
Steve:Mhm. Yeah. I felt, and I guess I should have
Steve:brought this up earlier. I felt like there were
Steve:times in this episode when, when Russell had
Steve:Blair, that she needed to amp up the fear. They're
Steve:like, no, this is what Blair looks like when she's
Steve:afraid. No, this is what she's. Because her. Like
Steve:when she was like, why are you doing this? And
Steve:like her voice like the, like, I felt like so much
Steve:of it and maybe it's because I knew about that
Steve:interview, but so much of it felt like no. So
Steve:Blair, since you weren't afraid of Chuck, you need
Steve:to now be afraid of this guy and prove it by being
Steve:more super afraid. So yeah.
Leif:And then I also did pop over to the fan forum
Leif:thread as well. And for the most part that was
Leif:like one of those depressing parties. But there
Leif:are like two or three people like really having
Leif:the best time of their lives because the chair had
Leif:their big scenes. But that is it for this week in
Leif:Phantoms. Let's move to episode grades. You went
Leif:first last time, so I'm gonna go first this time.
Leif:I liked it better than what the. The fans thought.
Leif:It wasn't a great episode though, so I ended up,
Leif:um, with a B minus.
Steve:Mhm. Yeah. Yeah, that is exactly where I landed.
Steve:I. I thought I, I didn't like the whole Blair's in
Steve:danger and he's gonna blow her up storyline
Steve:because I didn't believe it was gonna actually
Steve:happen. So I didn't feel invested in it. I really
Steve:liked the Georgina stuff. I really like Dan a lot
Steve:in this episode and just some of the other. There
Steve:were moments that I loved it in moments that I
Steve:hated it. So I really think a B minus is fair.
Leif:Moving over to Stockwatch, going up. I had a lot
Leif:of ups. M. I had Serena for self actualizing. I
Leif:had Nate for being A good supportive friend. Chuck
Leif:for saving the day. I had Reina for being, getting
Leif:uh, out of her dad's shadow and taking him down.
Steve:Also saving the day. Yeah.
Leif:Eric for being a good supportive Fred and getting
Leif:into college and getting out of this shitty high
Leif:school where people don't like or respect his
Leif:sexuality. We have Eleanor going up for telling
Leif:uh, off Chuck and being a good mom. I had Sophie
Leif:going up also for being a good mom and telling
Leif:Louie that he's being an idiot waiting for Blair.
Steve:Yep.
Leif:I had Queller going up for Toadolph. Serena for
Leif:not getting away from this toxic environment. I
Leif:had Charlie going up for succeeding in her scheme.
Leif:Carol going up for the same reason. I had Blair
Leif:going up because she's going to get her fairy tale
Leif:wedding looks like. And I had Georgita going up
Leif:for finally getting into the scheme and just being
Leif:awesome. Who do you have up?
Steve:I have almost all the same. The only one that I
Steve:did not give the up to was Queller. I thought that
Steve:she was really fucking shitty Serena. Um, so I
Steve:wasn't giving.
Leif:Serena needed it though.
Steve:Uh, I mean she did. You know what? I'll. I'm going
Steve:to change my vote because you're right because
Steve:Queller kind of really kicked Serena in the ass
Steve:because this was a great episode for Serena where
Steve:Serena just. All of this that she puts on
Steve:everybody else, she kind of put on herself today
Steve:and like had did a lot of self actualizing. So
Steve:I'm. And I do think that Queller helped to push
Steve:that. So you're right. I'll give it to uh, to
Steve:Queller as well. The other one, the other ups I'm
Steve:going to give is to the mini Serena and mini Blair
Steve:for owning Serena the way that they did. I also
Steve:wanted to give who is. Oh, I was also just because
Steve:they were in here and hanging around. I'm going to
Steve:give it to Caddy and Iz too because they never
Steve:really got up so very much and they were fun. It
Steve:was nice to see the two of them again. And that's
Steve:it for me.
Leif:Yeah, I didn't. Because they were gay
Leif:stereotyping.
Steve:Oh, uh, yeah. Uh, yeah, that's fair. That's fair.
Leif:Going down. Not, not a lot of going down. But I
Leif:had Louie going down for just being a dunce.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:I had Thorpe going down because he's going to jail
Leif:for 20 years. And Vanessa going down for just
Leif:being horrible.
Steve:Mhm, mhm, mhm. Yes. 100% of my going downs too.
Leif:Yeah, same.
Steve:What? Yeah, the same three. Yeah. Louis for Going
Steve:off with the girl who just banged her ex 20
Steve:minutes before she showed up and was about to
Steve:break up with you until her ex was like, you guys
Steve:stay together.
Leif:You can have her.
Steve:Yeah, you can have her. Uh, now that I'm done with
Steve:her. Gross.
Leif:Check. Anyone else?
Steve:No, no, I think it was just those three. But
Steve:here's the best outfits from the.
Steve:Last episode we've seen.
Leif:On to best outfit. For me, I, uh, ended up going
Leif:with Chuck for his, uh, in the Flash Forward, his
Leif:top almost gold suit with the pink, uh, tie and
Leif:pocket square.
Steve:Yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah. I think I am going to go
Steve:with. I don't know. There wasn't a lot that I
Steve:really loved in this episode.
Leif:Blair's dress she had in the Flash Forward is also
Leif:very, uh, fun and light.
Steve:And that was the one that I was really kind of
Steve:leaning towards. Yeah, I'm going to go with, yeah,
Steve:Blair and the Flash Forward. Yeah.
Leif:Well, that is it for segments. Do you have
Leif:anything you would like to plug this week?
Steve:I am, um, quite possibly playing the Can Affair on
Steve:in March at the, uh, Oaks, um, the convention
Steve:center at Oaks. So come by there, check it out and
Steve:enjoy your time. Or maybe it's Morgantown. It
Steve:might be the Morgantown one. Yeah, Morgantown. Can
Steve:Affair.
Leif:People are gonna go to the wrong fucking place.
Leif:Try Steve. And they're gonna be like, what the
Leif:fuck?
Steve:Anyway, if you want to get my. If you want to
Steve:follow me, I'm on Instagram and TikTok.

Leif:I'm also going to give myself a little pat on the
Leif:back for never messing up and calling Charlie Ivy
Leif:because I was worried I was going to do that.
Steve:That is. Oh my God, that is so funny because,
Steve:like, I had that thought at one point of like, is
Steve:she going to be Ivy again? And so it is really.
Steve:That is really funny. Um, I feel like our guest
Steve:Lindsay may have said the name Ivy at one point. I
Steve:don't.
Leif:I could be wrong.
Steve:I feel like at one point the name was said and I
Steve:was just. I paid no mind to it because it didn't
Steve:mean anything. I thought. I think that when she
Steve:said it, I thought she was talking about the
Steve:actor. So. Yeah.
Leif:So, uh, we are going to take a little break
Leif:between seasons here. So we'll be back in about a
Leif:month to talk about season five, episode one. Yes,
Leif:then zero. The episode description reads, serena
Leif:loves her new job in Hollywood, but makes a costly
Leif:misstep when she tries to impress her boss. Chuck
Leif:and Nate arrive in Los Angeles as the last stop of
Leif:their lost summer trip, joining Serena at the
Leif:glamorous Hollywood Hills party where Nate meets a
Leif:sexy older woman. Blair and Louis return from
Leif:Monaco and begin planning their royal wedding. A
Leif:magazine is planning to run an excerpt of Dan's
Leif:book until an unlikely ally steps in to help him
Leif:kill the story.
Steve:Oh. Huh.
Leif:I'm huh.
Steve:Gonna predict. I'd like to predict the unlikely
Steve:ally. Go for it, Gossip Girl.
Leif:Okay.
Steve:They oftentimes hint at. I feel like they often
Steve:want us to forget that she's a character, that
Steve:she's a person here interacting with these people,
Steve:too. I think Gossip Girl might be the unlikely
Steve:ally here.
Leif:Okay, we'll find out. Until next time. You know
Leif:you love us.
Steve:XOXO Every time you walk away, run away you take a
Steve:piece of me with you there every time m you walk
