About our Guest: 

Dr. Robert Hamilton is the Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer at NovaSignal. He is an accomplished entrepreneur, engineer, and clinical researcher with a passion for innovative technologies in the area of brain health management. Robert is an expert in image/signal processing and machine learning, with extensive experience in cerebral blood flow, traumatic brain injury, stroke, and other neurological disorders.  

During his tenure at the company, Robert has acted as principal investigator on federal grants and contracts totaling more than $25M from the Department of Defense, National Institutes of Health, and the National Science Foundation. Additionally, Dr. Hamilton has been invited to give several talks and presentations on entrepreneurship, technology development, and healthcare. He has achieved greater than 100 citations of his work in peer-reviewed publications and conferences and holds over 100 patent assets related to the core technology developed during his PhD studies.

In addition to his work at NovaSignal, Robert serves on the board of the Goggio Family Foundation (GFF). The foundation’s mission is to transform lives and strengthen communities by fostering innovation, creating knowledge, and promoting social progress. GFF provides grants in several program areas including community development, environmental preservation, and education. This aligns well with Robert’s passion for international collaboration, having worked in Malawi, Haiti, and China on brain health projects. Robert also serves on the UCLA Bioengineering Alumni Advisory Board.

Robert earned a B.A. in mathematics from the College of Idaho, B.S. in biomedical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in biomedical engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles.
