What Co-Hosting Next Taught Me About Energy, Identity & The Future of Our Industry

After spending three weeks co-hosting the NEXT conference across Perth, Brisbane, and Melbourne, I walked away with a perspective shift that I didn’t expect. Working alongside four other coaches with completely different strengths challenged me to reflect on collaboration, leadership, and what it really takes to create something meaningful in our industry. This episode is a behind-the-scenes look at the lessons that surfaced for me – both professionally and personally – while bringing this event to life.

I share what it truly costs to show up at that level, especially when public speaking doesn’t come naturally. From the nervous energy of being on stage to the emotional and mental demands of leading conversations that matter, this experience reinforced how important it is to protect our energy and design businesses that don’t rely on us operating at maximum intensity all the time. Systems, delegation, support, and technology are no longer nice-to-haves – they’re the foundations of sustainable leadership.

We also explore the bigger shift happening inside the property management industry right now. The outdated identity of property management being the “support act” to sales is disappearing, replaced by a new generation of leaders building profitable, systemised, and forward-thinking businesses. More than anything, this experience reminded me that none of us have to build in isolation anymore. When ambitious people come together to share ideas, challenge thinking, and support each other’s growth, the entire industry moves forward.
