Hello, and welcome to another Podcast Pontifications with me, Evo Terra.

Black widow killed it at the Boston box office last week.
Evo Terra:
No big surprise.
Evo Terra:
There it's a Marvel movie, but what is surprising is that it also killed it in
Evo Terra:
streaming as a very expensive 30 bucks.
Evo Terra:
Ad-on for Disney plus subscribers of which I am.
Evo Terra:
And to add onto that surprise, just the sheer number of illicit
Evo Terra:
copies of black widow available.
Evo Terra:
As soon as it came out on various various torrent servers, basically.
Evo Terra:
If you wanted to watch that movie, you could buy a ticket to your local theater.
Evo Terra:
You could stream it for free sorta on your home, whether you paid
Evo Terra:
for it or did not pay for it.
Evo Terra:
And you can even download a copy.
Evo Terra:
You can do all those things.
Evo Terra:
And people did two crazy degrees.
Evo Terra:
As I mentioned, it's killing it in all of those places.
Evo Terra:
And once all those have to do with podcasting, while I draw your
Evo Terra:
attention to something I noticed last.
Evo Terra:
And that is that Macmillan publishing big book publisher.
Evo Terra:
What they're doing with their repurposed stories from the stars podcast, feed
Evo Terra:
McMillan is currently releasing full audio book versions of some of their
Evo Terra:
most popular titles on that feed.
Evo Terra:
But they're doing it one chapter at a time in serialized podcasts.
Evo Terra:
Now, if that sounds familiar to those of you, who've known
Evo Terra:
me for more than a decade.
Evo Terra:
Yeah.
Evo Terra:
Yeah.
Evo Terra:
This is a familiar thing with new life.
Evo Terra:
You see, back in the day I helped, oh, let's say a few hundred
Evo Terra:
or under published authors.
Evo Terra:
We'll call them do that.
Evo Terra:
Same thing way back in 2005, someone got started when we launched a company called
Evo Terra:
patio books.com, which is now folded into another company, but a few authors like
Evo Terra:
Scott Sigler and Cory Doctorow and Paul E.
Evo Terra:
Cooley.
Evo Terra:
They're still doing this same thing today.
Evo Terra:
Releasing the full version of their books in audio form in
Evo Terra:
podcast form for the listeners.
Evo Terra:
McMillan is just the first, at least the first I can think of immediately
Evo Terra:
a big publisher to adopt this model.
Evo Terra:
Now they're currently releasing three body problem, which is amazing.
Evo Terra:
One of the best stories I've actually read a few years back and yes,
Evo Terra:
as I am actually listening to the professionally produced audio book
Evo Terra:
and the serialized form on that fee.
Evo Terra:
Now what these two examples, black widows massive release, even though
Evo Terra:
it was available in lots of different places, as well as what McMillan is
Evo Terra:
doing right now with their stories from the stars, feed what these two
Evo Terra:
examples show us is a, basically a drum I've been beating for years now.
Evo Terra:
And it's this, the container often matters as much as the content.
Evo Terra:
People will naturally gravitate towards the container that fits
Evo Terra:
their needs best at that time.
Evo Terra:
They may also, and oftentimes we'll also select another container, a container
Evo Terra:
that contains the same content at a different time when their needs change.
Evo Terra:
People my age, remember watching movies they'd already watched in
Evo Terra:
the theaters when those movies were shown on TV broadcast TV, and we'd
Evo Terra:
sit through the commercials and we'd deal with the edited for TV changes
Evo Terra:
they made, we listened to audio books.
Evo Terra:
We've already read in print book form.
Evo Terra:
We'll watch stage movie, and I guess television series adaptations of content.
Evo Terra:
We've already consumed.
Evo Terra:
Partly because we love the content, but also partly because we want to see, and
Evo Terra:
in some cases hear someone else's take on that same content as they put it in
Evo Terra:
a new container and digital containers.
Evo Terra:
It's been proven time and time again in Blackwood.
Evo Terra:
I just proved it this last weekend.
Evo Terra:
Aren't cannibalistic to other forms of content.
Evo Terra:
So here's what that means to you, podcaster that has
Evo Terra:
more than just a podcast.
Evo Terra:
Put your courses online, do a video series where you walk people through
Evo Terra:
the exact same content that you have in another forum, but you do it with a
Evo Terra:
video or make a podcast version of it.
Evo Terra:
Same thing, except now it's not requiring the visual element and works in the
Evo Terra:
podcast form, which you know how to create beyond that record versions of
Evo Terra:
you doing your podcast for things like Tik TOK and YouTube and live videos,
Evo Terra:
do whatever you can do, whatever you're able to do to get and let your
Evo Terra:
content spread is why did you possibly.
Evo Terra:
Because you're much more than just a podcaster.
Evo Terra:
Hey, if you want to be the rationale for just doing the podcasting thing.
Evo Terra:
But I think what we're seeing is a growing trend because it's been 17 years
Evo Terra:
or 20 years, depending on how you count a growing trend of using podcasting as
Evo Terra:
a vehicle, but not the only vehicle.
Evo Terra:
