Shownotes

Happy New Year. One year of I Am Astrology Readings. Paul, Claudia, and D sit down to do what almost nobody does at the new year — look back and actually account for what they learned instead of just making resolutions. What came out was one of the most honest conversations the show has produced. Value and value systems. How three siblings can grow up in the same house and come out with three completely different values — and what that means for how we judge anyone outside our household. Deprogramming and how painful it is to go against what's been coded into you since childhood, all the way down to what you eat. Boundaries and how cutting off family is harder than cutting off strangers even when family is the thing draining you. Free will is real and you can tell who's doing the work after a reading. The podcast itself — how a microphone sat in a box for four months after Walter mailed it to Paul as a birthday present, moved by something she couldn't explain, and how Paul had been using Claudia as a sounding board to work out his own astrology thinking the whole time. And D stepping out of her shyness one podcast at a time. Community matters. That's the lesson. Know thyself. Balance your energy.

Takeaways

  1. Value systems are deeply personal and not transferable — two people from the same household can emerge with completely different values, which means holding strangers to your value system is a form of misunderstanding how values actually form.
  2. Deprogramming from inherited beliefs is the equivalent of detoxing from heroin — painful, slow, and not something that happens overnight, which is why people self-medicate rather than face the discomfort of questioning what they were given.
  3. Boundaries in relationships and in business are a skill that has to be actively practiced — astrologers and creatives are especially prone to overgiving because they get invested in the people they read for, but free will means you deliver the message and release the outcome.
  4. You never know what you're being trained for — the skills you're developing right now, even the ones that feel like casual content or side projects, may be the exact foundation for what you'll be doing five years from now.
  5. The podcast itself was built on community that formed entirely through the internet — Paul, Claudia, and D have never met in person, Walter sent a microphone as a birthday gift moved by an impulse she couldn't explain, and one year later the show hit its first anniversary with a community around it none of them could have predicted.
